Sultan’s Instructions to Recite “Qul Yaa `Azheem”

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

6 April 201 Lefke, Cyprus

(Translated from Turkish)

(Mawlana Shaykh Nazim recites qasidah from Mawlid ad-Dayba`i, a book presented to him by Shaykh Hisham Effendi.)

Qul yaa `Azheem anta ‘l-`Azheem, qad hammanaa hammun `azheem. Wa kullu hammin hammanaa, yahoonu bi ‘smika yaa `Azheem.

(Sajeda sings the qasidah for her grandfather, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim.)

Aferin, well-done! This was needed. This must be heard on the minaret after every adhaan, and in every gathering also. Do you have any more copies of this? (There are plenty downstairs; one-hundred of them.)

(Shaykh Hisham Effendi: Sayyidee, if you like we can send you a box full.)

This is needed for Turkey, too. This one has English translations. Have them write a separate one for us in Turkish. I shall have them write this as it is crucial; it’s needed. Have them read this at every gathering. Shaykh Mehmet Effendi must also have the people in Istanbul read it. Those who listen to us must carry out this order.

(Sajeda continues to recite the qasidah, along with Hajjah Naziha.)

Is this the continuation of it? (Yes.)

Anta ‘l-qadeem qadeemun fi ‘l-azal.

Anta ‘l-lateef lateefun lam tazal.

`Anna azil maa qad nazzal

min faadihi ‘l-khatbi ‘sh-shadeed.

You are The Ancient, Ancient One.

You are The Subtle, with subtleness everlasting.

Remove from us what has befallen us

of grave and difficult afflictions.

[Chorus]

Qul yaa `Azheem Anta ‘l-`Azheem.

Qad hammanaa hammun `azheem.

Wa kullu hammin hammanaa.

Yahoonu bi ‘smika yaa `Azheem.

Say: O Tremendous! You are the Tremendous One.

We have been afflicted with a grave concern.

And every concern we are worried about,

Becomes easy with the mention of Your Name, O Great One.

Hayyun qadeem qadeemun waajidu

baaqi ghanee ghaniyyun maajidu.

‘Adlun ilaahi ilahun waahidu

barrun ra`oof ra`oofun bil `abeed.

Living Ancient, Ancient and Generous;

Immortal Rich, Rich and Glorious.

Just God, one God.

God is Tender, tender with the servant.

[Chorus]

Wa li ‘n-nabiyyi salli yaa salaam

minna salaatun maa salaam.

Yawmal jazaa nahnaa salaam

mimmaa nakhaa fu yaa majeed.

And upon the Prophet of Peace,

From us send greetings and blessings.

Grant us safety on Judgment Day,

From all things which we fear, O Glorious One.

[Chorus]

Wa ‘l-aali wa ‘s-sahbi ‘l-usood

saadu bihi beedan wa sood.

Laa siyyamaa maahi ‘l-hashood

sayfu ‘l-ilaah ibnu ‘l-waleed.

And the lions from the Family and Companions

Became masters through him, regardless of being white or black.

Especially the one who wipes out great armies;

the Sword of Allah, (Khalid) son of al-Waleed

[Chorus]

Allahuma salli wa sallim wa baarik `alayhi wa `alaa aalih.

Aferin, aferin! Well-done! You see, this is very nice. Have them recite this daily downstairs. Rukiyyah, you too. They should get used to it. Tell the mu’adhdhin to read this before the adhaan, or after the adhaan... have them read it at night; this is very important. Now I shall lay down a little. What to do? We’re getting sleepy, Hisham Effendi. (laughter)

Now look; say this to those people. (At your command, Sayyidee.) Important matters will arise. Shaykh Hisham Effendi? (At your command, Sayyidee.) Inform Indonesia to read this before every adhaan. People who listen to us from any association must read this. A wave will come...(Reading this will protect you from tsunamis; it will prevent it from happening.) Mashaa-Allah, there are 300 million in Indonesia; all of them must read it! I will have it read in Istanbul, for those who listen to us. Listeners must read it. I will announce it here, too. (Imaam Abdur-Rahman is returning today; we will tell him to read it.) He should have them make it a habit. Very good. Thanks to Allah it’s approaching and this needs support!
