[Dua of Khutbah.]

O Muslims, Believers, mu'mins! Allah (swt) blessed us with shahr Ramadan, with fasting, and He said:

الصوم لي وانا اُجزي به

Fasting is for Me and I will reward it. (Bukhari, Muslim)

Every other worship is for you, for your benefit, but here Allah wants to tell us, “You are My servants and you stopped eating, so I will reward you. But I will give you more if you stop backbiting and sinning.” Allah gave us Ramadan, the month of purification and taraweeh. What is the secret of taraweeh? No one knows. There must be something that He specified, but what is in that month that we don't know? It must have something spiritual, something Allah opened to sincere and pious people. Scholars expressed this in their tafsirs, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. The first big issue is that Allah revealed the Qur’an in Laylat al-Qadr, and the Prophet carried the Qur’an when the Heavens and angels could not.

Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, verily you would have seen it humble itself and cleave asunder for fear of Allah. Such are the similitudes that We propound to men that they may reflect.

(Surat al-Hashr, 59:21)

But the heart of the Prophet (s) is always there and always strong: the Prophet (s) is stronger than any mountain or universe, that's why Allah revealed the Qur’an on him. He said before, "If We sent the Qur’an on a mountain it would shatter," in another ayah He said, “We revealed it in the Night of Power."

We have sent down Holy Qur'an on the Night of Power. What do you know about the Night of Power?

(Surat al-Qadr, 97:1-2)

What is Laylat al-Qadr? It is a hidden explanation Allah gave Prophet (s) as a gift. If we recite Surat al-Qadr, Allah (swt) repeated ‘Laylat al-Qadr’ three times, and it is nine letters: 3x9=27 letters, correct? Laylat al-Qadr in hiya (in the last ayah), which is two more letters, so the Holy Qur’an was revealed on 29 letters, and every letter has its own secret. The first night of Ramadan you have to know you entered the cave, and slowly the cave will open to you.

Run to Allah (from all that is false and evil)! (Surat adh-Dhaariyaat, 51:50)

You begin your fast by stopping yourself from doing bad things and you implement that until the last ten days; the first ten days is rahmah, the second ten days is maghfirah, the last ten days is freedom from Hellfire. In the last ten days we observe Laylat al-Qadr on any of the odd days and for anyone who observes it, that night when Allah put the whole Qur’an into the Prophet's heart is better than a thousand months of worship. Anyone who witnesses it or does the awraad for it benefits and is granted immense rewards! On Laylat al-Qadr, when Jibreel (a) came to the Prophet (s) before Fajr, that is the time we have to concentrate on, as well as how we behave in these precious days. We hope Allah has Mercy on us in the first ten days, as Prophet (s) said:

شهر رمضان أوله رحمة وأوسطه مغفرة وآخـــره عـــتق من النــــار

The first (ten days) of the month is mercy, the second (ten days) is forgiveness, and the last (ten days) is salvation from the Fire.

And Allah (swt) said:

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

(O Muhammad!) We have sent you not except as a Mercy for all the Worlds. (Surat al-Anbiyaa, 21:107)

Those who intend to fast all of Ramadan will be rewarded as if you are with the Prophet (s)! In the second ten days, Allah prepares you for maghfirah, He will clean you. Do you think He will not clean you by fasting Ramadan? He will give us forgiveness from all our sins and prepare us for `itqun min an-naar, freedom from Hellfire, and today we entered the last ten days. On the Day of Judgement Allah calls, “Where are those who were fasting? Let them come.” Then all the fasting people will come and Allah sends them with angels to the door of Jannat al-Rayyaan, a special Paradise door for fasting people, through which they will enter with no account and no judgment. We hope Allah (swt) will take us to His Mercy and dress us with the mercy of His Prophet (s)!
