How to Deal with Tyrants

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

28 February 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

We are keeping the Islamic manners. We do not have street demonstrations in Islam, nor do we have screaming, swearing and lashing at one another, no. We don’t have such manners. We are Muslims. Believers should congregate in the mosques to pray the timely prayer. They can then perform two raka`ats of Salaat al-Haajah, “Prayer of Need” to resolve pressing needs.

They may then say:

100 x RabbunAllah, HasbunAllah, “Our Lord is Allah and He is enough for us.”

100 x Salawat on Prophet (s).

100 x Yaa dafi`al baliyaat. Yaa Mugheeth. Yaa Allah, “O Ye who wards off scourge, O Succourer.”

100 x Yaa Mugheeth al halqaa, “O Saviour, Succourer from perish.”

100 x Yaa Qareeb. Yaa Mujeeb, “O Close One, O Ye who answers our prayers.”

Ant al-Mujeeb ant al-Qareeb ant al-Qadir wal Muqtadir, “You are the near One. You are the One who answers our prayers. You are Allah, the Most Capable, All Powerful.

So pray two raka`ats and then you should return to their homes. Allah would hence throw fear into the hearts of tyrants to the extent that they may not be able to remain in their houses/positions in peace and tranquility, nor would remain any contentment in the hearts of their army towards the tyrants, causing the tyrants to leave everything and flee (…) by being silent. Allah dresses silent people with (…) When the nation keeps silence, they will be adorned with awe. However, all glory is taken away from those who go out into the streets. Going out on the streets are habits of unbelievers.

If we are in need of anything then we should ask Rabbu ‘l-`Izza, our Glorious Lord for it. What we need will not be achieved through shouting and screaming, nor by men and women crowding in the streets, no! It is not Islamic manners to do things in such a way. However, as per proper Islamic manners, anyone feeling oppressed can enter the mosque, as mosques are for Allah Almighty, they are houses of Allah), where one may pray two prayer cycles with the intention to ask Allah for what he or she wishes. That is it. Hasbunallahu wa ni`ma 'l-wakeel. HasbunAllah, RabbunAllah.

They should finish then return to their homes, evacuating the streets, and then glory will descend. The people don’t know. They are imitating foreign customs, western people and unbelievers' customs. Such manners don’t have any taste. It's all a waste (…) The tariqah is all based on good manners. Anyone who wishes to keep to the way of Truth must keep good manners with Allah.

Ask forgiveness from your Lord. Tawbah, yaa Rabbee. We seek Your forgiveness. Please correct our actions and our steps. We are asking to be Your poor servants. Adrikina, yaa Gharatullah, amend our situation, O Divine Incursion. The word “Ghaaratullah” is derived from the word gheerah, fervid concern/jealousy. Allah is Al-Ghayur, which means that if somebody harms His servants, He would be the fervidly concerned/dissatisfied. By calling, “Adrikna, yaa Ghaaratullah” two times, subsequently support would definitely come down.

These principles that people follow are not legitimate and are ineffective. However, Allah dresses believers, frightening people with an appearance to make all their organs tremble, even if they don't see anything yet. It is the Divine Anger that descends on them, making people shake involuntarily, losing control over themselves and their tongues, unable to eat or drink. This is the proper way. Otherwise, you won't get anywhere. There may be some returns gained, but with a very high cost and (what we propose) brings easy gains.

When they come out of the mosque, they may walk to their homes quietly. Empty the markets and cities, enter your homes, and close your doors. Spread your prayer mat and make two prayer cycles and sit there. Allah will throw fear into the hearts of tyrants.

وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

Wa khaaba kullu jabbaarin `aneed.

And every obstinate, arrogant dictator is brought to a complete loss and destruction. (al-Ibrahim, 14:15)

They will shiver from fear. How was Abu Sufiyan's state when he came to Madinatu 'l-Munawwara, where Prophet (s) ordered everyone not to greet him, return his salaams, nor speak to him, and to leave him? This almost made Abu Sufiyan go crazy. That is it. If an authority figure or soldier comes, don't speak at all. This is the peaceful way. Laa hawla wa laa quwatta illa billahi 'l-`Aliyyu 'l-`Azheem. Say, “Laa hawla wa laa quwatta illa billahi 'l-`Aliyyu 'l-`Azheem.” Don’t be afraid. If you transfer all your matters to Allah Almighty, then it is over, finished.

وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الرُّعْبَ

Wa qadhafa fi quloobihmu ar-ru`ba.

And He cast terror in their hearts. (al-Ahzab, 33:26)

He may cast fear into their hearts. A particularity of the Prophet (s) is that when he wishes to cast fear into the hearts of people, he may ask, then tyrants would immediately tremble from fear without needing to resort to anything else. These means they adopted are those of unbelieving infidels. It takes them too long. We want fast results that last no longer than one or three days or one week at the most, for those tyrants to definitely fall.

Yaa Rabbee! Anta ‘l-Rabb.
