Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s Notebook Series
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
A good way to relieve stress is to come to the masjid. All of us, including me, before we came to the mosque we were under stress, burdens and heaviness; we came and entered and the stress was relieved when we prayed Salaat al-`Asr. That is the baraka of our masters who opened this place. I remember when Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) opened that door. At that time it was a picnic place like you find in parks. So Mawlana's baraka and noor is always here, and Grandshaykh's noor appeared to Mawlana over there. So grandshaykh `AbdAllah's light is over there where the maqam is now, and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's light is here. That is why this property and masjid is so serene and you feel comfort here. May Allah make it a door for us to come to our shaykh's majlis.
This place is open. If you want to come visit and pray two raka`ats in Grandshaykh's maqaam, Allah will relieve you. People are experiencing a lot of difficulties, especially the news coming out of France. What can we say? Jahalaat, ignorance, has taken over hearts.
People have not read much of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s suhbahs, but his teachings are eternal. Every time you read them, like Holy Qur'an and Hadith, new meanings that apply to the time we are in become apparent. Similarly, our master's words apply at any time. Just now I didn't know what to read, I opened to this page and subhaanAllah, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is teaching his disciples adab yet again, over and over. His disciples have not yet learned adab.
Listen to your master, and I am listening too. This is the man who wrote down Mawlana's words, relating that Mawlana says, "Muqallib al-quloob Huwa Allah, The One Who turns the heart is Allah (swt)—whether to good or bad, to imaan or no imaan, to Islam or Judaism or Hinduism or Sikhism or whatever it is—as in the Hadith, 'The heart is between two fingers of Allah (swt).'
"This attribute was not given to anyone else; no one was dressed with turning hearts to imaan or no imaan, to good or to bad, and no one was dressed with that power, not even Prophet (s), because if he had he would have turned the heart of his uncle Abu Talib to Islam." Even on his deathbed, Rasoolullah (s) could not turn the heart of his uncle Abu Talib to Islam.
He (swt) can make you as cold as you can be or as hot as you can be, towards His love and towards imaan, like the AC dial in your car, you turn it left or right. This is only for Allah (swt) and not in the hands of Awliyaullah, nor Anbiyaaullah. So listen, O those who have lost adab! Fear Allah in what He is doing with His servants; in His Hands is Mulk, this physical world, and Malakoot, the heavenly world. He can make physicality do anything He wants, and make spirituality do anything according to His Will!
Keep the adab with His servants and don't belittle or downgrade anyone, don’t expose or say bad words about anyone. This is adab that is gone now, lost. We are in the hands of ignorant ones nowadays. We think we are better worshippers than others.
If Allah wants, He will change your heart! O who slanders others, saying, "They are bad and we are good." Grandshaykh is saying if Allah Wills, He will make you become the most unrespectable, dishonored among people, and He can make the most disrespected as the most respected. So keep adab. Don't belittle anyone!
This is our problem nowadays, we think we are higher, we are better worshippers, and better than others. That is not adab, because at any time Allah (swt) can change your heart and swap you from being at the top to the bottom. He is The One Who can change hearts, so keep adab and don't slander anyone: Allah (swt) is The Judge!
How many times do you read Surah YaSeen and masha'Allah at Fajr time your tongue is like a bulbul, nightingale, and you come to the end, we recite from Surat al-Qassas:
لَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned.
So with Him rests the Judgment. You are not the judge, you are not even following the recitation you read every Fajr. He (swt) does not allow anyone to judge His servant except Him: only He (swt) may judge. This ma`adhAllah, can lead to kufr and to going out of Islam. Be careful how aggressive you get. Allah's servants are not your game in life to lift up one and bring down another. That is a very dangerous game, O human being!
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim gives an example. AWaliullah was walking and he saw a Jewish person, and the moment he looked at him he fell on the ground. The mureeds walking behind him said, “O our Master! What happened when you fainted?” He said, “O my sons, when I looked at him, Allah called me through my secret, an ilhaam, ‘O My servant! He is My servant and you are Mine.’” Allah is telling the mu'min, the Waliullah, “Keep adab with this Jewish servant of Mine, because he is My servant and you are My servant.”
`Abdee hadhaa, “This one with My justice, this servant of Mine, I have dressed with the shirt of Judaism, and I have dressed you with the shirt of imaan and Islam, and I can do what I want! I can take the dress of imaan and Islam and put it on him, and take the dress of Judaism and put it on you. Who can prevent Me?”
When he heart that word, "who can prevent Me?" he understood Allah is reprimanding him and just then his knees shook and he fell down. Even anbiyaa will be shaking on the Day of Judgment. Sayyidina `Isa ibn Maryam (a) will be reprimanded on Judgment Day, as Allah (swt) says:
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. (Surat al-Maidan, 5:115)
Sayyidina 'Isa (a) will tremble and get a big question on the Day of Judgment.
So that Waliullah heard, "So what prevents Me from making you a Jew and him a Muslim?" Don't demean or slander anyone. Learn adab from the Holy Qur'an and from our masters. May Allah forgive us. I don't want to take too much time, my stomach is saying "come to break fast!"
So Allah (swt) is The Turner of Hearts, He is The Judge. He (swt) judges Muslims, Buddhists, and every other one. The outcome of everyone's life is in His Hands and you don't know what will happen at the end. There is a secret, but I will not tell it as Salafis will object if I throw them a jewel that they will not understand. If I give you a red jewel or red candy, you will take the candy. When you have the love of Rasoolullah (s) and you accept everything that comes from the shaykh, then we can talk.
So the ending is in Allah’s Hands and you don't know how that person will end. The consideration is one's last moment, because the Prophet (s) said Allah (swt) will accept the tawbah of every servant until the soul reaches the throat, the gharghara, gargling of death, the point where you have no power to swallow, and I have seen a lot of that in hospitals, when they suction out saliva. Before that point, Allah has left the door of tawbah open for everybody, so you never know what the servant's end will be.
So learn adab from our masters. We are followers of Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani and the Naqshbandi Grandshaykhs and we keep adab with everybody and we don't slander anyone. We don't put anyone up or down. Allah (swt) puts up whom He wants and He puts down whom He wants. Allah (swt) is The One in complete control, and He (swt) said, “You are a believer and a Muslim, and We brought you to the door of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim! So confess and testify My Favor and My Grant on you, and don’t feel you are above others, that you can wipe the ground with them as if they are a towel, and you judge them as 'a disobedient sinner.'"
These are Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's words that you have forgotten because you see only yourself as high. May Allah guide everybody to His Divine Presence.
Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
