A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. Madad yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Rahmatan li ‘l-`Aalameen.

كلمتان خفيفتان على اللسان ثقيلتان فى الميزان حبيبتان إلى الرحمن سبحان الله و بحمده سبحان الله العظيم

Two words are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen that Allah (swt) chose us to be from Ummat al-Mustafa (s), such a big honor. Awliyaullah say if you stand in the presence of Prophet (s) making salawaat from the Day of Alastu bi rabbikum, qaaloo balaa[1] until the Day of Judgement, still you did not give his due rights and no one can, except The One Who created him! What we are doing is an imitation, we cannot do more. That is what we are trying, a little bit from here and little bit from there, sitting together, remembering Allah (swt) and making salawaat on Prophet (s). That is what we can do, but the rest is for Habeeb al-Mustafa, from Prophet (s) as a gift to us from what Allah gave to him.

No one can honor Prophet (s) as Allah honored him. He ordered His Angels to make salawaat on him! Do we know what kind of salawaat they are making? No! Even the best lover of Prophet (s) doesn’t know, no one knows. Awliyaullah detect whatever Prophet (s) wants them to know as he gives them like a drop of water in an ocean, a drop of the Reality with which Allah made us the best Ummah! But we are fighting, cursing, cheating, deceiving and still Allah (swt) said:

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ

You are the best of Nations sent to humanity! (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:110)

“If you just believe in him, it will be the best,” but it requires belief in him. Do we believe in Allah (swt)? Yes, which is enough for us to be honored, because from Allah’s Name al-Kareem, “The Generous One,” when He gives He doesn’t ask anyone and He gives without limit. When He honors His Beloved Prophet (s), what does He give? He made all angels without limit make non-stop salawaat on Prophet (s) every moment. No one knows what kind of salawaat angels are reciting, what we know we learned from the Sahaabah that accompanied Prophet (s).

Prophet was so humble! One of our shuyookh, Sayyidi Shaykh `AbdAllah Fa’iz ad-Daghestani, a great Wali, said, “If you bring all Awliya together, they will not understand one salawaat that Allah (swt) ordered the angels to make on Prophet (s).” Not `Ulama, they are doing their best, but Awliyaullah know how much Allah gave from what He opened, mala rayna ra `at wala udunun sami`at wa la qalbin bashar, what no eye has seen, no tongue has spoken, essentially, what Allah has given to Ummat an-Nabi (s)! Without our effort He made us from Ummat an-Nabi (s)! On the Day of Judgement the first to be taken to Paradise will be Ummat an-Nabi (s), all the other ummahs are waiting with their prophets, and He said, “You are the best Ummah sent to humanity.”

Allah is praising Ummat an-Nabi (s), shukran yaa Rabbee, yaa Allah! He gave us a way to make salawaat on Prophet (s). Awliyaullah stand in the presence of Prophet (s) making salawaat from the Day of Alastu bi rabbikum until the Day of Judgement, and yet even that does not fulfill Prophet’s due rights! Don’t be happy with your beads in your hands making salawaat, because that is soup mixed with our bad desires of the ego, it is not sharp, not pure. Allah (swt) like things to be pure. If dirt is on the carpet you cannot pray there, you must first eliminate the dirt. So is our heart pure or impure? It is impure, but we are struggling to make it pure with the help of Prophet (s) to his Awliya and from Awliya to his Ummah.

Allah (swt) gave His Prophet (s) something from which we must be happy and thank Him every moment in our life, when He said, “Kalimataan khafeefataan `alaa ’l-lisaan thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezaan, two words are very light on the tongue, yet very heavy on the Scale: SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem. “I am giving this to you, yaa Ummat an-Nabi (s) : two words that make Me happy.” Allah is saying to the whole Ummah and to Prophet (s), “I am giving your Ummah two verses from Qur’an, but they are du`a, so teach them. They are very light on the tongue.”

Prophet (s) knows the secrets of these two words and said to the Sahaabah, “If you recite them, they are better than the wealth of the whole dunya and the best of your `ibaadah. Kalimataan khafeefataan `alaa ’l-lisaan thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezaan habeebataan li ’r-rahmaan and what are they? SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” Finished, say it!

When Awliyaullah tell you there is Salaat an-Nabi Nooraniyya, Mashishiyya, Fatihiyya, Muridiyya, the different salawaat on Prophet (s), when you read them you can feel Noor. How great that Awliya brought these salawaat from angels inspired to their hearts and taught them to people! How many? Thousands or millions in different forms! When angels make salawaat on Prophet (s), there is no repetition, they say it once and it goes to Prophet (s) carrying Allah’s mercy, love and honor that is dressed on Prophet (s) and he dresses it on the Ummah! Salawaat ala ‘l-malaa’ikah, innallaha wa malaa’ikatahu yusaloona `ala ‘n-Nabi, at the end it comes on his Ummah, it doesn’t go astray. We are making salawaat here, we are slaves, servants to Allah (swt), our salawaat is limited, but angels’ salawaat is not limited, it is continuous until the Day of Judgement and doesn’t interfere with the second or third salawaat. Everyone is different from the other. How many angels are there, who can count them?

Sayyidina `Abdul Khaliq al-Ghujdawani, may Allah bless his soul, performed a miracle on a mountain in Merv, Bukhara, near where Sayyidina Bukhari is buried. He dug is a famous well there; he saw a signal to dig there, and water gushed like a fountain. When made dhikrullah and salawaat on Prophet (s) in the well in his clothes for a few seconds or minutes and then come up to breathe. They asked him why, when he could do it anywhere? He said, “Shayateen and evil jinn are everywhere, but they run away from water because it kills them. So I submerge myself for my dhikr to be pure.”

Why do we take a shower before Salaat al-Jumu’ah? To be pure. So he entered the well and came up to breathe, until he finished his awraad. He is buried there. The story continues from Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul. Once he was sleeping and saw in a vision...yaa `Abdul Khaliq! Among Awliya he is the first one to read Khatm al-Khwajagan that we recited just now; he arranged it. In his vision he heard, “Yaa `Abdul Khaliq! Go up to the mountain where you will find a rock, strike it until water gushes out. From every drop of that water, Allah (swt) will create an angel to make salawaat on Prophet (s) every day, which will be written for Ummat an-Nabi (s).”

That spring is still running even today. This story is well known in that area. He went and saw the rock as he had no doubts; Awliya do not doubt anything. He struck the rock with a little stick that could have broken, but it didn’t because it was a heavenly stick. As soon as he struck it, water gushed forth from under it, like the water flows from underneath the Ka`bah. In 1980, Wahhabis came to close the well of Zamzam because, according to them, the water was coming from the mountain’s sewage system. Alhamdulillah, King Fahd stopped them. He received a letter from Muhammad bin`Abdul Wahhab ash-Sha`rani, one of the great scholars of Islam, requesting King Fahd not to close the well, as it is one of the relics of Islam, so they stopped it.

They sent divers into the well to clean the water and at a depth of twenty or thirty meters, and when they reached directly under Hajr al-Aswad they saw the water gushed out from underneath one of the corners of the Ka`bah, and that force created foam. They threw many things in the well to slow down the flow to clean it, and afterwards the water gushed out from two corners: under Hajr al-Aswad and Hajr al-Yamani. It began from Sayyidina Isma`eel (a) four-thousand years ago and is gushing until today! Where is this water coming from? No one knows.

So from that secret of the water gushing out from the Ka`bah, a vision came to Sayyidina `Abdul Khaliq al-Ghujdawani (q) to strike the rock for the water to come out and as soon as he hit it, water came out in twelve streams.

The voice in his vision continued, “On the Day of Judgement, you will be responsible to present the names of every angel Allah created from every drop of this water, and no names can be repeated; the name you give to one angel cannot be given to another, it must be different. You have to connect your heart with Awliyaullah and Prophet (s) to get these new names, and all the salawaat these angels are reciting will be given to Ummat an-Nabi (s).”

So be happy! We don’t need more than that! It is enough for us that Allah gave us this huge reward with us not doing anything, only we eat, drink, sleep and do some work, yet Allah is giving us!

May Allah (swt) grant us always from the best of rizq, rizq al-jinaan, from the Gardens of Heavens. Our gathering here is a Garden of Heaven, because Prophet (s) told his Sahaabah (r):

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا مررتم برياض الجنة فارتعوا. قالو وما رياض الجنة؟ قال "حلق الذكر"

Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (s) said, "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked, "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "The circles of dhikr.” (Tirmidhi)

This gathering here is such a circle. Before we finish here tonight, Allah will dress this gathering with a Dress of Heaven and it will become a paradise. Now this house is becoming a Garden of Heaven until all of us leave, then it will come back to a normal house. But each time you make dhikr in this or another home, it will be turned into a Garden of Heaven for the duration of that gathering. Keep your homes filled with the fragrance of Heaven by mentioning dhikrullah. Tonight is Nisf Sha`baan. As Allah said in Holy Qur’an:

حم وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِين إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِين فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيم أ َمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

Haa. Meem. By the Book that makes things clear, We sent it down during a blessed night for We (ever) wish to warn (against evil). In the (night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom by Command from Our Presence for We (ever) send (revelations). (Surat ad-Dukhan, 44:1-5)

In that night, Allah (swt) sent Revelation of the Holy Qur’an to Prophet (s), and in that night Allah descends to the First Heaven looking at His servants, informing His angels what they are going to do for that year. So there are earthly years which people celebrate, either Hijri or Miladi year, but there is also a heavenly year. This night is the first night of the heavenly year and tomorrow is the heavenly day. May Allah (swt) give us the best of His love and His mercy this year, as Prophet (s) said:

إذا كان ليلة النصف من شعبان فقوموا ليلها، وصوموا نهارها

When the night of 15th Sha`baan arrives, spend the night awake and keep fast the next day. (Ibn Habaan)

Those who can fast may fast, those who cannot due to sickness or any other reason, it is alright. Allah looks at your niyyah, innama l-a`maalu bi ‘n-niyyaat, “Actions are according to their intentions.” This fast is not like a Ramadan fast; those who can may fast. We will recite Surah Yaseen three times: the first time with the intention Allah will grant us long life; the second time for rizq; and the third time for difficulties to be taken away.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
