Instructions for Observance of the Day of `Arafat

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

1 November 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

(Mawlana Shaykh answers questions from Hajjah Roqiya.)

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem.

It will be as they declared; no one can do as they like. They will go up on the day according to the fatwa given there. Their answer is this: they will complete al-Hizb al-`Azham, no smoking, no sheesha, no fighting or discussing on that day as they will be busy with prayer and du`a; finished. If they do this, they will pass through as “clean;” otherwise, they will return as they left.

(And the ones that did not go?)

May Allah (swt) grant it to them.

(Are there instructions for them?)

Yes, of course there are. (Mawlana Shaykh and Hajjah Roqiya consult a book.) If it is possible for them, they may read this:

RECITATION ON DAY OF `ARAFAH

100 times Laa ilaaha illa-Llah wahdahu laa shareekala lahu ’l-mulku wa lahu ’l-hamd yuhee wa yumeet wa huwa `alaa kulli shayin qadeer

100 times Surat al-Ikhlaas

100 times Subhaan-Allahi wa ‘l-hamdu lillahi wa laa ilaaha illa-Llah w ’Allahu Akbar

100 times istighfaar

100 times salawaat on the Prophet (s)

Increase the recitations and weep during du`a so favors may be granted. For the day of `Arafat, from the morning until the evening recite 1000 times Surah Ikhlaas; this is what Grandshaykh (q )said.

(Recite, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah wahdahu laa shareekala lahu ’l-mulku wa lahu ’l-hamd yuhee wa yumeet wa huwa `alaa kulli shayin qadeer.) This.

(SubhaanAllah wa’l-hamdulillah wa laa ilaaha illa-Llah w ’Allahu Akbar wa laa hawla wa laa quwatta ila billahi ‘l-`Aliyyi ‘l-`Azheem.)

FROM GRANDSHAYKH (q)

What our Grandshaykh (q) said, they may finish reading:

1000 times Surat al-Ikhlaas until sunset, “Qul huw Allahu Ahad.”

100-1000 times salawaat

100 times Laa ilaaha illa-Llah wahdahu laa shareekala lahu ’l-mulku wa lahu ’l-hamd yuhee wa yumeet wa huwa `alaa kulli shayin qadeer

May Allah accept. Ameen.

Fatihah.

`Eid was going to be next Saturday so that it would be Hajj al-Akbar; anyway, it’s okay, they will receive its reward. May Allah forgive us.

Fatihah.

We fast the 8th and 9th Dhul-Hijjah, Tarwiyya and `Arafat. This is for us, but for the hajji’s there is no fasting on the day of Arafat as they are busy with the duties of Hajj, so no need for them. Others fast Yawm al-Tarwiyya and Yawm al-`Arafat.

Fatihah.
