As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. For three days it's Sunnah to recite Qur'an and offer food for ahlul-mayyit, the family of the deceased, inshaa-Allah. I was outside the house passing by. I took the sidewalk, and subhaanAllah, something strange in this hot weather, and I asked myself, what is the purpose of this life? If you don’t do well you will be punished, and who can do well? Everyone tries to do well, but it's very difficult as Shaytan is strong.
I was thinking about death, and at that moment I saw my brother (Shaykh Adnan) passing. I told myself it was nothing, just a dream. I passed and moved, and went to sleep, and they called us. Who called us we don’t know, but they said, “Shaykh Adnan irtahala,” died. It means he went into rihla, and I thought, from where? From everything, from dunya. That came to my heart so shockingly, and we continue life with that shock. It was Prophetic inspiration, not a normal signal, but rather a special signal, and I didn’t tell anyone.
Then I began to recall that maybe this is what Grandshaykh `AbdAllah predicted sixty years ago: “Allah is happy with you and your brother, and Prophet is happy with you both, and I am happy with you both.” The next day he called us and said, “The first in the row, first Shaykh Nazim will leave dunya, then Shaykh Adnan, and then you.”
I waited sixty years to see that prophecy come to pass. That’s our life's path, that’s what he said, wa huwa wa saadiq. Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) is very strong, from the five Oolu 'l-`Azam Awliya, like we have the Five Prophets who are Oolu 'l-`Azam, the most powerful. He also mentioned, “I am taking you with me.” (In the dream) I saw Shaykh Adnan’s teeth falling out, and in dreams teeth represent life and teeth falling out means loss of life. So Allah (swt) took him now.
I passed by his house one week ago. I told Hajjah Naziha that I wanted to go to Beirut, and some said, “Don't go, there are problems.” I said, “I am going and you don’t have to.” I was very far [from Beirut] and it was very difficult to find airline seats, and that urge to go to Beirut was the pending death of Shaykh Adnan (pulling me). Really dunya is not important; it is five minutes, one minute, even less than one minute of enjoyment. Awliya feel it like that. Alhamdulillah that Allah (swt) gave us the baraka of Awliyaullah! No one can be at the level of Prophets. Awliyaullah carry the way for the Ummah, and show them the way. They hide many things and they know everything!
Grandshaykh (q) once said while pointing toward Jabal Uhud, “If I tell you how frustrated Sayyidina Mahdi (a) his heart will blow up and turn the whole world into ashes." Because Grandshaykh and the Awliya have such real love for Sayyidina Mahdi (a). We must always remember the good they have done in this world, and that will be enough for us to go to Paradise. To go to Paradise is not easy, it is difficult, but with love, with bandage, like someone wraps a wound with a bandage: the wound is already in the Ummah, and the bandage is in the hand of the Wali. If he uses it or not is up to him.
When we were young, my brother and I took bay`a on a Monday. [Mawlana weeps.] So he is far away and you cannot do anything, but what we can do is recitation (and send the reward on his soul). Inshaa-Allah (in his last wishes), Shaykh Adnan asked for Surah Yaseen, Mawlid, and Khatm al-Qur'an to be read. Allah (swt) will grant him that and those who know how to recite can read Du`a Mathoor.
Everything you want to do, first you must recite salawaat on Prophet (s), even if you read one salawaat; don’t jump past him, read as much as you can. As you know how, you can read.
[Mawlana recites beginning of Du`a Mathoor: Allahumma salli `alaa Muhammadin an-Nabi ‘l-Mukhtaar, `adada man salla `alayhi mina ‘l-akhyaar wa `adada man lam yusalli `alayhi mina ‘l-ashraar.] You recite thats. When I wrote that du`a from Grandshaykh (q) which he dictated to me, he said, la-tazoolu minhu 'l-jibaal, “Mountains will melt from this du`a.” That’s why it’s recommended to begin any recitation with: “Allahumma salli `alaa Muhammadin an-Nabi ‘l-Mukhtaar, `adada man salla `alayhi mina ‘l-akhyaar,” then read it.
[Du`a al-Mathoora, Surah Yaseen, Mawlid, Ihda.]
There is food for you to eat and make du`a for Mawlana Shaykh Adnan, inshaa-Allah. It is Sunnah to feed Ahlu ’l-Bayt, the People of the House. You eat on behalf of the deceased, because his family is sad that they cannot do anything, so Prophet (s) ordered those who are well to feed those who are needy and the benefit will go to the deceased, in this case to Shaykh Adnan (q).
Ask Allah (swt) that when you are passing away that He sends angels of mercy as he has sent here, inshaa-Allah. [Du`a.]
Tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday night we will have Mawlid here at eight o'clock. Shaykh Adnan (rahimullah) asked, “Recite Mawlid, YaSeen and the du´a for me,” three things, and we have done them alhamdulillah, and we are giving food on his behalf.
Shaykh Adnan loved Rabi` al-Awwal. I witnessed that he never did any major sins throughout his life, since childhood. Not sins like this here or this there, but we are speaking of 12,000 Kabaa'ir. He never approached them, that is why among Awliya he is known as Adnan “at-Tahir”, the Pure.
When Allah calls his `abd, even if he has all the money of Qaroon, he will leave everything and go toward where that sound is coming from. That is Sayyidina Malak al-Mawt coming to take his soul, and that one directs his face either toward Jannah or Jahannam. Inshaa-Allah his face will be Jannah for us. When Allah calls a Wali, Prophet, or anyone He created, he will direct his face and follow to where the voice is coming from, and when he reaches his destiny he will be sent either to Jannah or Jahannam.
Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah will be accompanied by Anbiya, Awliya, and Prophet (s). We again ask that may Allah grant him a high level of Paradise, Jannat al-Firdaws, and for those who attended it will be given to us, also. That is why it is important to attend funerals, because you will get the benefit. May Allah forgive us.
Grandshaykh (q) described when Sayyidina Azra`eel (a) comes to take one's soul, that person will never go left or right; when his name comes, he goes to the source and will find it is his name. He asks Allah (swt) for forgiveness and for Shafa`at an-Nabi (s). He will say, “Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah, arju shafa`atak.” He will be granted shafa`ah. The source of the voice will then go to the right, whereas before it was on the left. May Allah take us to the right, to be with Ahlu ’l-Bayt as they are the key to Paradise! I want to be with them, so let us struggle to reach that.
Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq bi hurmati’ l-habeeb bi hurmati ‘l-Fatihah.
