You Need a Way to Enter the Divine Presence

Shaykh Nour Mohamad Kabbani

24 January 2025 As-Siddiq Institute & Mosque (ASIM)

Jumu`ah Khutbah

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

O mu’mins. Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) gathered us again in His Presence. Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) gave us life one more time when He made us wake up this morning. Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) has given us breakfast, food, and drink from where we never expected. Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) dressed you and gave you what looks nice on you, what covers your awrah and Allah (swt) has granted you eyes, ears, a mind, hands, legs and feet to move and come to the masjid to attend in His Divine Presence. What more do you need, O insaan?

Alhamdulillahi ‘l-ladhee ata`mana wa saqaana wa ja`alana mina ‘l-muslimeen. Yaa Rabbee, thank You for watering us, for feeding us, for making us Muslims. Alhamdulillahi ‘Lladhi kasanee hadha. Yaa Rabbee. Thank You for dressing me in this. Yaa Rabbee, thank You for guiding us to Your deen, Your way, the way to Your Presence. What is deen? It means the way to His Presence.

They have I-96, I-69, I-10, I-5 and I- I don’t know what. What does that mean? It takes you to a destination. Allah (swt) has sent you an “I,” that is an interstate, an interstellar, across the Heavens. Allah (swt) has sent you a way. If you take it properly, you will reach Him. That is what our deen is. They say, “Religion, religion.” Why do you bother yourself, O human being, using MapQuest or Apple Maps to end up in an opera house, a movie theater, a beach, an entertainment park or a rollercoaster ride? What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you want to enter the Divine Presence where there is everlasting bliss and joy and happiness?

SubhaanAllah. They will ask Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee. Let us return to earth.” Why do you want to return to dunya? You had your chance. Be from those who say, “Yaa Rabbee. Thank You for allowing that sorrow and loneliness to depart from us. You are certainly our Lord, the Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Appreciative of the good deeds we have done, even if we have so many bad deeds.” He forgives them and multiplies the good deeds we have done.

Alladhee adkhalana daru ‘l-muqama. He will allow us to be in the Eternal Abode, the Eternal palaces, the Eternal mansions, min fadlihi, from His Grace, not from your work.

"Who has, out of His Bounty, settled us in a Home that will last: no toil nor sense of weariness shall touch us therein." (Surah Fatir, 35:35)

Allah (swt) is saying, I will put you in Jannah. It is My Fadl, My Grace and My Kindness and My Generosity. He has put us and He has made halal for us and has made a place for us, daru ‘l-muqama, an Everlasting Abode. La yamasuna feeha nasab. We will never feel any tiredness in it. We will never feel any difficulty in it. We will never feel any hardship in it. We will never feel any sorrow. Why don’t you be from those who praise Allah (swt), O insaan? You see what Allah (swt) has given you and you are ghaafil, heedless. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

Always turn to Allah (swt). In everything you do, turn to Allah (swt). Say, “Yaa Rabbee. Alhamdulillah.” It’s enough. You don’t have to say anything else. When you say, “Alhamdulillah,” Allah (swt) is pleased with you. When you are happy with what He has given you, He will be happy with you. That is raadiyatan mardiya. When that soul departs from its body, it will go back to its Lord happy and content with whatever Allah (swt) has destined for it.

“Why do I have problems in my life? Why is my wife not good to me? Why is my husband not good to me? Why are my children like that? Why don’t I have a job? Why, why, why, why?”Allah (swt) is saying:

Yaa ayyuhatu ‘n-nafsu mutma’inna. O soul that is departing your body and coming to Me in contentment and satisfaction. Come back to Me, happy with what I have decreed for you.

Are you happy with what Allah (swt) decreed for you? No, especially the Muslims, the ones who have to know that Allah (swt) has decreed your destiny before you were born. He allowed you to come out in a certain period of time for His Destiny to unfold, difficulties and ease, sorrow and happiness, poverty and richness, health and sickness, dishonor and honor. You have to say “thank you” for what Allah (swt) has decreed for you. Raadiya. That is `uboodiyya, servanthood. “Yaa Rabbee. I am the servant and You are the Master. I do whatever You have decreed.”

How many people are like that? None, including myself. Whenever a problem comes up, “Why?” Where is your ridaa? Where is raadiya in you? Where is your satisfaction? Mardiya, and Allah (swt) is pleased with you. You are pleased with His Destiny and Allah (swt) is pleased with you because you have believed in Him. On the Day of Judgement, people will ask Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee. Let me enter Jannah. I will give everything. I will sacrifice everything.” A group of people will sacrifice gold as much as this world can contain. Allah (swt) is saying, I don’t want that from you. All I wanted was for you to say, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah. I told you through My Prophet that if you say, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, you will enter Jannah.

No, they are not content. May Allah (swt) guide them to Kalima Tayyiba. [audio cut] Raadiya mardiya, you are pleased with Allah (swt) and Allah (swt) is pleased with you. That is `uboodiyya, servant, and that is `ibaadah, for Allah (swt) to be pleased with you. Worship and servanthood. Patience with difficulties and thankfulness for favors. Nobody remembers. All they remember is the bad parts, the difficulties they are facing and whenever ease comes through, people hardly remember to say “alhamdulillah.”

Allah (swt) has created people like gold and silver. Some people are like 24 carats, 14, 10, 8 or whatever. People have levels in purity like the levels of gold and silver in purity. They are very different. People are like mines. You don’t know what’s hidden in them until you start excavating. People differ in the words they use. What words do you use? Is every other word a cuss word? [audio cut]

Allah (swt) wants you to turn inside. Allah (swt) has created good manners inside of every human being. That’s why you follow prophets. What did Rasoolullah (s) say?

إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ لِأُتَمِّمَ مَكَارِمَ الأَخْلَاقِ

Innamaa bu`ithu li utammimu makaarimu ’l-akhlaaq.

"Indeed, I was sent only to perfect noble character."(Musnad Ahmad, al-Bayhaqi in Shu`ab al-Iman, Muwatta of Imam Malik)

It means: ‘I have been sent to extract that moral excellence you have inside of you.”

Where are you from that, O Muslims? Leave the others. Work with the Muslims first. Muslims have become like others. All they say is, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, by the tongue but when it comes to actions, they differ. May Allah (swt) make us from the sincere ones who say by the tongue what is in the heart.

Say, “Yaa Rabbee. Alhamdulillah. You have given us.” [audio cut] Ma `alimtu laqum min ilahin ghayri. “I am the illa.”

Pharaoh said: "O Chiefs! no god do I know for you but myself: therefore, O Haman! light me a (kiln to bake bricks) out of clay, and build me a lofty palace, that I may mount up to the god of Moses: but as far as I am concerned, I think (Moses) is a liar!" (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:38)

How many men are declaring themselves as gods nowadays? Muslims and non-Muslims. It’s the same ego inside of us. You have to crush it. How do you crush it? Allah (swt) crushes you to crush it. That’s why He wants you to be patient. Allah (swt) is treating you. Allah (swt) is curing your diseases. He is the Shafiyy. He gives you shifa from that ego. Sayyidina Yusuf (a) said, illa ma rahima Rabbee, certainly that ego will command me badness unless Allah (swt) sends His Mercy upon me.

When Allah (swt) is crushing your ego that has become a Firaun of its time--me, you, him, her--all acts like gods. “I can. I can. I can.” when Allah (swt) crushes you down, He is crushing that ego down. Why? To liberate you from its hooks. When you are liberated from that ego, then all you see is Allah (swt). You don’t see yourself anymore, you’re gone. If you have no money, what can you do? Nothing. If you have no position, what can you do? Nothing. If you have no wallet, what can you do? Nothing. If you have no iPhone nowadays, what can you do? Nothing. You are nothing.

They think they are powerful by things. When they have some power in their hands, they think they can do anything they want. That is kibr, pride and arrogance of a human being. Follow what Allah (swt) is telling you. Wa tawassaw bi ’l-Haqq. Recommend each other to the Truth, goodness. What is Haqq?

A Sahaabi came to Rasoolullah (s) and asked, “Give me something easy.” He said: Qul amantu billahi thumma ‘s-staqim. It’s in Sahih Muslim. Say, “I believe in Allah (swt).” That is Haqq. All you need to know is, “I believe in Allah (swt).” Tell others you believe in Allah (swt). Thumma ‘s-staqim, “Then be correct.” How? Don’t approach disobedience. Wa tawassaw bil Haqq wa tawassaw bi ‘s-sabr. Be patient and don’t approach disobedience. Be patient and constant on obedience. That is istiqamah. It is simple: do what is good and leave what is bad. Allah (swt) loves that.

They cling to the Truth. What is the Truth? Is Google the truth? Is AI the truth? All of these virtual men or holy men that you have taken as gods, O human beings, or the physical men that you have taken as gods, O human beings? In the time of Sayyidina Nuh (a), they took five men as gods. It is mentioned in Surah Nuh. Five names are mentioned. [Audio cut]

Be careful and don’t be a jealous one because jealousy made one child of Adam (a) kill the other child. The quarrel between the two children of Adam (a), Qabeel wa Habeel, was because of hasad. O human being, don’t be a jealous one because jealousy drove Qabeel to kill Habeel. Don’t be harees, wanting everything because Adam (a) was escorted out of Jannah because he wanted everything, including that forbidden tree. Don’t be a proud, arrogant one because it made Iblees not make sajdah to Adam (a).

If you take on these three mother sins, you will be like Qabeel killing his brother, Habeel, you will be like Adam (a) when he was escorted out of Jannah because he wanted everything. He was not content. And don’t be like Shaytan. Don’t take on the three characteristics of jealousy, greed and arrogance.

O insaan, Rasoolullah (s) has shown you the way, prophets before him have shown the way. What is the way? Believe in Allah (swt). Worship Allah (swt), nothing else. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

Remember Him in all your work. Remember Him in all your footsteps. Remember Him in all your actions. Remember Him in all your words. Remember Him in all your thoughts. Remember Him in all your ideas. Allah (swt) will guide you to the best of ways here and Hereafter.
