When the mu'min comes to the door of Awliyaullah, they are asking knowledge. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim said, "We have knowledge from underground all the way up to the Throne. All that range of knowledge is with us and we can give to the requester whatever he is asking for, on one condition: that he is intending and aiming to act according to what they learn." So if you come to the majlis of Awliyaullah, they will give you something, but the condition is that you act upon what you hear.
So what happened at the end? Because people did not act on what he was teaching, people found that door to be of dunya. They were only interested in finding out who is coming to that door and how they can go up in ranks and in politics. That is for some people who went to the door of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. So what did he do?
He did as Muhyidin ibn `Arabi did when he said: "I tried 40 years to teach people and I struggled and gave my best effort and no one took up the challenge." So what did he do at the end: "Doom, doom, doom doom, doom doom." No one acted on what he taught. So he said, "Forget eternity, eternity, give and go." So I heard it on one of these channels, one of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's songs: "Eternity, eternity."
That was our fault. We went to eat, drink, swim, travel, have fun, visit palaces, see sultans and princes and gezmek, take vacations and see the world. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim was not about that, which is why at the end he began singing to you.
He said, "I will give you knowledge on the condition that you will act on what you hear and not be argumentative."
How many came to Awliyaullah `anidan, stubborn, in the class of Shaytan. Awliyaullah give you whatever knowledge you need on the condition you act on what you are taught.
He said, "Anyone on sulook , 'the path' of diving deep in Tariqah, we have knowledge that will lift him from under the ground to beneath the Throne."
There is a story I read in the books of Awliyaullah. There once was a young man. He and his friends ate and drank and had fun and partied, since the time they were young until their money was finished. Then they looked at each other and said, "What shall we do?" They decided to become bandits outside on the roads waiting to raid caravans. When they got money they partied again. That is what politicians and non-politicians do now.
They were on the road and waited two or three days and no one came. Finally at the end of three days, they saw an old shaykh. The old man said to that young man, laysa laka hadhihi sana`tuk. "This is not fit for you. Ask forgiveness. When you do, I will be in such and such city and in such and such a mosque reading Holy Qur'an."
'Reading Holy Qur'an' means diving deep into its secrets. So something in what he said affected that young man's heart, because that shaykh was a waliullah and in his heart was Nourullah. When the young man's heart took in that Nour he was attracted: it is not by what they say. Rasoolullah (s) said a lot to non-believers but it is by the Nour entering the heart of the person that attracts them.
The young man said, "O my friends! It looks like we are not having luck here. Let's go to such and such city--as mentioned by that waliullah--and raid someone there." When they reached the city he said, "O my friends, let's go to that mosque and make du`a, perhaps we can achieve success in stealing." Then he found that mosque and that shaykh sitting there and what happened?. He ended up staying there for two years.
After spending time in the company of the Shaykh, the Shaykh said, "It is time for you to leave me and go to such and such Shaykh. He will raise you from the ground level to the Level of Perfection."
Why did he go to that waliullah? to be perfected. Nowadays we need to get rid of animalistic behavior, and so he left the animalistic behavior of eating, drinking and partying, and sat at the feet of the Waliullah for two years. That Wali did not say, "You are mureed of my son after me or my grandson after me." He knew to whom that young man belongs in spirituality based on the Preserved Tablets.
So that second shaykh raised him from the ground, from the level of behaving like an animal to a level of revolving around the ` Arsh like malaaikat.
So when you come to door of Waliullah what do you expect?
Indeed, Allah has done the believers a ˹great˺ favour by raising a messenger from among them—reciting to them His revelations, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom. For indeed they had previously been clearly astray. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:164)
Allah did a great favor to the believers when he sent from themselves a prophet to teach them Holy Qur'an.
So the Waliullah will teach you from Holy Qur'an and that young man was learning from that shaykh and whatever he taught him he would do. Then he went to the second shaykh and studied from him and put into practice what he learned and he was soon revolving around `Arsh.
I read in Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani's book that the Mashaykh al-`Izham revolve around the `Arsh faster than the great angels. I heard that when Sayyidina Muhammad (s) was in the Battle of Uhud and Rasoolullah (s) was cut in the battle in his cheek and that blood was falling to earth and Allah swt told Gibril if that blood falls to earth the earth will be barren forever and so Gibril (as) descended from heaven to earth in time that he could catch that blood falling before it could touch the earth.
So Mashaykh `Izham if they see you don't act on what they teach you they say: doom doom, doom doom. So Awliyaullah say `alayka bi tark ash-shuroor, it is obligatory to leave evil-doing. So that boy left evil and badness. That is a big lesson for all of you, O humanity. You have to leave raiding and stealing. Wa 'l-imanul-kamil billahi 'l-ghafoor and you must have complete faith in Allah the Forgiver.
until you receive the rewards and the joy. Suroor. not the joy of dunya but the joy of Akhira, as-suroor fee daaril-hudoor, when you enter the Divine Presence then you reach that happiness in the Divine Presence. You have to leave badnesses and have faith that Awliya can make you reach what Anbiya and Awliya have reached. they were human beings but they reached. You are a human and your reality is composed from physicality and spirituality so you can reach. act upon what you learn, which is at-ta`at, obedience.
Acts of obedience will cause you to gain Nour. The greatest Nour is the Nour adh-Dhikr. The greatest obedience is Dhikrullah. That nour will clean up the heart and purify the heart and with what you receive of rewards with the actions you are doing you are accepted and entered into the Divine Presence. So you have to find a Waliullah who is reading Holy Qur'an to you and not just its outer meanings but its inner meanings that can make you fly.
So what do you do, Adam? You find a Waliullah and take the knowledge they are giving and act on it. So we continue on Tariqah as Sayyidina Junayd al-Baghdadi said, "There are two different adabs: the adab of your secret and the adab of our limbs and senses." The adab of the secret is tahaarat al-qalb, purity of heart. The outer adab is to keep the senses from committing sins. So Sharia`h purifies you on the outside and Tariqah purifies you on the inside.
We ask ya Rabb for the ability to act on what we learn. We ask you, O our Lord to make us at the feet of Awliyaullah and allow us to take from them that Nour at-Tawheed and Nour adh-dhikr.
Bi-hurmati 'l-habeeb bi-hurmati 'l-Fatiha.
