Mehfil-e-Milad an-Nabi (s) with Nizam-us-Sunnah
As-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi ‘l-mursaleen sayyidina wa-nabiyyina muhammadin wa-`alaa aalihi wa-sahbihi ajma`een. Alhamdulillah to He who did not make anything to have power or authority in the ordering of His Dominion, and did not seek any advisor or consultant in determining His Rule. May He be infinitely glorified and sanctified above what they say. Alhamdulillah to He who guided us to Islam, for we would not have been guided if Allah did not guide us. Alhamdulillah to He who illuminated the world with His Power, and brought forth rivers with His Wisdom. Glory be to He who created everything and determined its measurement. Alhamdulillah to He who revealed the Proof to His servant so that it might be a warning to all the worlds, and promised the pious Paradise as a recompense and Abode. Glory be to He who has no friend from the abased, how great He is. Alhamdulillah to He the Unified in His Greatness, the Mighty, the Holy in Beauty. He is the Creator of all things. In His Hand are the keys of the Essence. May the Lord of all the worlds be blessed.
We testify that there is no god but Allah, no partner has He, and nothing is similar to the height of His status and greatness of His Sultanat. We testify that our master and mawlana, Muhammad, is His Servant, and Beloved, and Messenger. He (swt) sent him from the most fair of the Arabs and the most eloquent of them. He made clear the path and advised the Creation. May Allah (swt) send blessings on him and on his Family, Companions, wives, children, descendents, and on his successors who gave guidance after him, especially the Imams and Caliphs of the Messenger, specifically the leaders of the mu’mins, their eminences: Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman and `Ali, who possess manifest rank, and on all of the Sahaabah and their followers. May Allah’s (swt) pleasure be on all of them.
O our beloved brothers and sisters who are present here! I noticed something when I was coming inside, that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) tried his best to show his respect and honor, and that respect and honor reflects back to him because he showed that, al-mu’min mir’aat akheeh, as Prophet (s) said “The mu’min is the mirror to a mu’min,” the mirror reflects everything like the eye. If you open your eye you can see, and you look in the mirror and it reflects. It is reflection, so that respect and honor reflected on him directly. Awliyaullah are dressed with the Beautiful Names and Attributes and he dressed him with what Allah dressed him with. I looked and I saw two horses and a carriage and I thought it is an antique, an old style and I looked and saw the horses and I thought these are statues from far. I didn’t visualize that this is real because in dunya you think that things are real and they are not real! And what is not real might be real, it depends on the power that Allah gave him. People can look and can see what others cannot see or they can hear what others cannot hear. So I was thinking if this is real then he has done a great job, great work with all these lights and this nice place with all these flowers and so on. It is like something from Heaven! But then I said (to myself), “No, no this is not Heaven. This is how much we can give, but how much we can get is what is important.”
We can give flowers, TV’s, lights, decorations but what do we get in response? We can do salawaat on Prophet (s) and what can we get? We can get salawaat from Allah (swt) and from Prophet (s):
من صلى علي مرة صلى الله عليه به عشرة
Whoever sends blessings on me, Allah will send ten blessings on him for it. (Bukhari)
“Whoever makes one salawaat on me, Allah makes ten salawaat on him,” and that ten salawaat is not going to be a decoration like this, this is dunya decoration, that will be Akhirah decoration. And Akhirah decoration it is not easy to understand it. Akhirah decoration when you do salawaat on Prophet (s) Allah dresses you with the dress of Muhammadun Rasoolullah, from Prophet’s dress Allah will dress you! because you are respecting and honoring His Beloved One, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) whom He has sent as Mercy to humanity as Rahmatan li ’l-`Aalameen.
O Muslims, this can be done easily but reciting salawaat on Prophet (s) is much less work. To do this is big work for dunya, for Akhirah Allah is saying to you: I will give you ten rewards for one salawaat. It is so easy to say, “Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad wa `alaa aalihi Sayyidina Muhammad.” Naray takbeer [Allahu Akbar] Naray risalaat [Yaa Rasoolullah] Naray Haydaree [Yaa `Ali] Naray Haydaree [Yaa `Ali, yaa `Ali]. What will we get now? Allah’s rewards because we gave takbeer to Allah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar! We are saying ta`zheem lillahi `azza wa-jall. Yaa Rabbee laka ’l-`azhamah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar! Allah is happy. When you mention Him Allah will be happy! “Remember Me.” He says:
I sit with him who remembers Me. (Hadith Qudsi. Ahmad, Bayhaqi)
Allah says to Prophet (s) in a Holy Hadith, anaa jaleesu man dhakaranee, “I am sitting with the one who mentioned My Name.” Say, “Allah, Allah, Allah, Muhammadun Rasoolullah! We mentioned! Allah said, “Mention Me and I will sit with you,” means “I will bless you” and “I will open for you treasures that you never dreamed of.” So this meeting here is for the love of Prophet (s) and it is written outside ‘Jashne Mawlid an-Nabi’ so it is for the love of Prophet (s). If you pay to attend such a meeting you will pay anything you possess on the Day of Judgement to save yourself from Allah’s punishment to be in such a meeting. An association like this now is worth the whole dunya! What is said?
Inna ’d-dunyaa laa tazinu `inda ’Llahi janaaha ba`ooda, “Dunya has no value even the weight of a wing of a mosquito to Allah (swt).” If you give the whole dunya, Allah will give the whole Akhirah. Allah gives His servant when He is happy with His servant. Allah gives something easy for you to say and for me to say. You want Paradise? You want Jannah? [Yes!] Prophet (s) said:
Whoever says ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ enters Paradise.
“Whoever says ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ enters Jannah.” Say, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah.” [Laa ilaaha illa-Llah!] We are entering Paradise, finished! It is stamped, it is stamped, Allah has stamped it: “Who says, ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ enters Paradise.” Allah when He gives, He doesn’t take it back. Allah gave it to us as we said, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah,” and He will never take it back!...I will not take it even you do whatever you do of sayyi`at that reward is being given to you and it is safe in My safe! O Muslims, O believers, Allah (swt) loves us that is why He created us from Ummat an-Nabi (s), the beloved Ummah, the best Ummah.
You are the best Ummah sent forth to mankind, you command the good and forbid the bad.
(Surat Aali `Imraan, 3:110)
Look, we are Muslims, we are under that order from Allah (swt): al-amru bi ‘l-ma`roof wa ’n-nahiyy `ani ’l-munkar, to call for good, for peace, for harmony, for tolerance and acceptance and to forbid everything that is out of that. Anything bad has to be forgotten, to be taken out of our heart. Our hearts must be on happiness and peace and harmony and tolerance. Sayyidina Muhammad (s) has said:
انما بعثت لاتمم مكارم الاخلاق
I have been sent to perfect the best of conduct (your behavior and character). (Bazzaar)
“I have been sent to complete and perfect your bad manners,” to take the bad manners away and to give you good manners. What are the best of good manners? Prophet (s) said:
“Aala ukhbirookum bi ahli ‘l-jannah?” Look from here you will know what you need to do. He (s) said, and this is beside salawaat and saying ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ and that you will enter Paradise with that, that is all there for you but Prophet (s) is telling us more. He is telling us: “Do you like me to tell you about the people of Paradise?” Kullu da`eefin mutada`af, “The people of Paradise are the ones who are humble.” As much as you humble yourself, as much as Allah will take you to the highest Level of Paradise. Humbleness is important! To show in the presence of your shaykh, to be humble, to listen and not question.
We heard and we obeyed, our lord forgive us, to you is the return. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:185)
So humbleness is what is important. Prophet (s) said, “Alaa ukhibirukum bi-ahli ’n-naar? Do you like me to tell you about the people of Hellfire? Kullu mutakabbirin jawwaazh, Everyone who is arrogant and ignorant is from Ahlu ‘n-Naar.” So Iblees was the biggest arrogant and Allah put him from Ahlu ‘n-Naar and cursed him. We have to follow the Way of Prophet (s).
Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)
We have to follow Sayyidina Muhammad, we have to follow Prophet (s). If you really love Allah, Allah says, “Follow Muhammad (s).”
Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhi afdalu ‘s-salaat wa ‘s-salaam said to the Sahaabah (r), “Man al-muflis? Who is the bankrupted? Who is the one that has nothing, muflis, bankrupted?” They said, “The one who has no wealth.” Is that correct? No wealth means he is bankrupt. The Prophet (s) said, “No, that one, al-muflisu ‘Llladee ma laa `amala lahu, is the one who has no `amal.” The Sahaabah said, “Wa in saama wa in salla? Even if they fast and pray still they have no `amal?” He (s) said, “Even if he is fasting and praying.” Why? Because he is backbiting other people. He is spreading false rumors. He is a munafiq. He says something and hides something else.
When you speak about your brothers or sisters or friends, you are backbiting and you have to be careful. You lose all the wealth that you have made, all your fasting and prayers will be gone. So Prophet (s) is saying to us that we have to be very careful or else we will fall into...on the Day of Judgement we will ask, “Where is my `amal? Where is my fasting and prayers? Where is my Hajj and zakat?” They are gone! because you spoke against your brother.
O you who believe! If a corrupt person comes to you with something wrong, ascertain the truth unless you harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have done.
(Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:6)
O Believers, mu’min! If a munaafiq comes to you, a corrupted one telling you about your brother, tabayyinoo, look, check it, don’t believe him. Check, Allah is telling you to check it. Fa-tabayyinoo an tuseeboo qawman bi-jahaalatin... you might say something that is not correct and in this way you make your brother angry with you.
Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would abhor it!
(Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:12)
Allah says in Holy Qur’an, “Do you like to eat the flesh of your brother, raw?” When we backbite we lose hasanaat on the Day of Judgement. Allah (swt) will bring two people together, one is the oppressor and the other is the oppressed. He says to the oppressed:
“Forgive the oppressor that he was oppressor in dunya to you.” The oppressed will say, “No, I will not forgive him. I need my haqq as he oppressed me in dunya, I want my haqq from him.” And Allah will take hasanaat from that oppressor and give to the oppressed one. And He (swt) will ask the oppressed one, “Are you happy now?” “No, yaa Rabbee it is not enough. He destroyed my reputation.” There are too many of those today. Allah will take all the sayyi`aat (sins) and put it over the oppressor. “Are you happy now?” “Naam yaa Rabbee, I am happy now.” “Okay, enter Paradise.”
The other one is left without anything and Allah with His Rahmah will send the other one also to Paradise because of shafa`at an-Nabi (s), the mercy of Prophet (s):
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
(O Muhammad!) We have sent you not except as a Mercy for all the Worlds. (Surat al-Anbiyaa, 21:107)
Without him no one can enter Paradise.
We found their `amal and we turned it into scattered dust. (Surat al-Furqaan, 25:23)
“We come to their `amal and We throw it in their faces,” but shafa`at an-Nabi (s) gives you everything back.
O Mu’min, O Muslim! I will end with this one Hadith of Prophet (s): a Bedouin came to Prophet (s) on Jumu`ah day, and Prophet (s) was giving his khutbah. That Bedouin standing at the door says, “Yaa Muhammad!” He did not say, “Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah,” he was just a Bedouin coming from the desert and he knows only goats, sheep, cows and bushes and sand, nothing else, and he thinks you say anything the way you like and he calls, “Yaa Muhammad!” Prophet (s) did not answer because he was giving the khutbah. And again he said, “Yaa Muhammad!” and Prophet (s) did not answer, then a third time, “Yaa Muhammad!” And Prophet (s) did not answer.
Look, Allah is the Creator and this was His Best Servant. Allah cares for everyone, sinner or not, He cares for everyone, might be this one will repent. Jibreel (a) came and said, “Yaa Muhammad (s), Allah is ordering you to answer that Bedouin.” He (s) was on the minbar and said, “This what you are asking is a very far travel, what have you prepared for it?” To Akhirah there is time, there are alamaat, Signs, when these Signs appear then it is near. In the time of Prophet (s) Allah said in Holy Quran:
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ
The last hour is close, and the moon as split. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:1)
The Signs of the Last Days are appearing when the moon split. He (s) asked, “What are you preparing for that travel?” Everyone of us here has some money prepared that if anything happens outside we can travel home or some people take money to Makkah and Madina so they can spend it when they need it. Prophet (s) asked, “What have you prepared for that day? It is a long travel, what did you do for it?” He said, “Yaa Muhammad, laa min katharati ’s-salaat wa laa min katharati ’s-sawm, I did not prepare too much fasting or praying. I pray my obligations, but I am not doing too much nawaafil of praying or fasting.” So what then are you preparing for Akhirah? And the Bedouin said, “Hubbuka yaa Rasoolullah.” [Takbeer] Yaa `Ali. “The only thing that I am doing is that I love you. That is it.”
What did Prophet (s) say? Even all of us here love Prophet (s). Do you love Prophet (s) or not? [Yes] So all of us are going to be with Prophet (s) on the Day of Judgement because he said:
يحشر المرء مع من أحب
Each person will be resurrected with the one he loves. (Tabarani)
He (s) answered the Bedouin, “People will be resurrected with those whom they love. If you love me you will be with me.” Okay, we have one question: if we love the shaykh, let us say five of us here surround him front, right, left, back and there is no chance for other people to come and surround him, is it not? No chance for others, but for Prophet (s) even this whole universe of people can be with him in the same time and all of them feeling his body on their body! Of course!
Yuhshar al-maruw ma` man ahhab, “People will be resurrected with whom they love,” He answered him, “I love you yaa Rasoolullah,” that is enough. Not enough that you leave your prayers, or fasting, or obligations, but that is something you can depend on. Your `amal you cannot depend on it because it might be mixed with sins, but your love, how is it going to be mixed with sin? If you love someone then you love them. Ahlu ‘s-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah love Prophet (s), the others don’t! But we say, “Yaa Rabbee guide them to Ahlu ‘s-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah. Open their hearts, open their eyes yaa Rabbee, yaa Allah bi jaahi habeebik al-Mustafa.”
O Muslims! This will never end, to speak about Prophet (s) will never end! It is an ocean. Inshaa-Allah when I come next time we spend some more days here and we can speak more about it. [Bay'a.]
His (host) name is fadheelatu ’sh-shaykh, Qutb al-`Arifeen, Zeeshan, coming from my shaykh to him. His name is ‘Dhu-shaan’ in Arabic not ‘Zeeshan’ and it means “high status”, “very high level”; Dhushaan means something hidden but it will appear one day. That is why he has been blessed by Sayyidina al-Mahdi (a), by awliyaullah and by Prophet (s) that he (s) will present him one day to the Divine Presence. He did his best for you and for me and may Allah (swt) reward him. They are very happy with the du`a that he read. I think I understand it, but it is difficult for you (attendees) to understand. It is above every level, it was done very correctly. It is very nice for you to memorize and speaks about Tawheed and two different maqaams; Maqaam al-Ahadiyya, “Uniqueness”, and Maqaam al-Wahdaniyya, “Tawheed”. Inshaa-Allah that is already opened in his heart that is why he recited that du`a very easily. If he recites that du`a on a sick person, that person will be cured.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
