A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta'ala al-`Azheem fee hadha 'l-masjid.
أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ
Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)
كلمتان خفيفتان على اللسان ثقيلتان فى الميزان حبيبتان إلى الرحمن سبحان الله و بحمده سبحان الله العظيم
There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. We are traveling tomorrow, but today we have ziyarah, the visitation, and sharing some Holy Relics with you. But then me and Ali said that we will make short dhikr and he said, “I don't want to make short dhikr,” and as soon as he said that, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) said to me, complaining, and then I was under a heavy burden, “How do you dare put anything before dhikr! There is nothing before it!”
Dhikrullah, remembrance of Allah (swt) is always first, then anything else you want to do afterwards you may do, and not just short dhikr, but you have to complete the whole (long) dhikr, because such an event does not come frequently, not often, you are not sitting like this every day, it might be every year twice or three times, and to have such a crowd beside the jinn and angels are here and continue to be here with Mawlana's baraka. These sittings are not always and so to do the big dhikr is better than to do the short dhikr, and I was threatened!
They said to me via inspiration, “Listen, Hisham! The long dhikr is better than the short one,” although the short one is also valuable. So that is why we carried for the dhikr and everyone was sweating, then I asked this one for people upstairs to open the windows, and he made some gesture, but they did not open windows.
Sitting downstairs here there are 200 or 300 people, and including ladies, children and men perhaps 700 total. And Mawlana (q) said to me, “Tell them, if they are going to be billions (on Judgement Day), how are they going to feel the heat of the Sun?” The sun will be burning then above our heads on Judgment Day; at its center it is 50 million degrees Centigrade! We are asking for the shade over our heads! May Allah forgive us.
And Mawlana (q) said, “What about Jannah? When you sweat, when you know you did something wrong, you will be granted Paradise.” At that moment they opened the door here and then it became cool like air conditioning! He (q) said, “You are sitting in heat, but in the same room Allah made it bardan wa salama, cool and peaceful, as with Sayyidina Ibrahim (a)!”
قُلْنَا يَا نَارُ كُونِي بَرْدًا وَسَلَامًا عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Qulnaa yaa naaru koonee bardan wa salaaman `alaa Ibraaheem.
O fire! Be cool and peaceful on Ibrahim. (Surat al-Anbiyaa, 21:69)
And that means your whole life you will be bardan wa salama! That Tajalli comes very rarely, but it came tonight as this is the night of celebration of the Urs of Sayyidina Ahmad al-Farooqi (q) and I didn't start before Mawlana said to me to connect to the Prophet (s) and that is why we started with the connection:
Yaa Sayyidi ’s-saadaat wa nooru‘l-mawjoodaat yaa man huwa al-malja`oo liman massahu daymun wa ghammun wa alam, atawassul ila jaabika al-`azham bi hadhihi saadaat wa ahli ’Llahi wa ahli baytika 'l-Kiraam. Li daf`i durrin laa yudfa` illaa bi-waasitatik. Wa raf`i daymin laa yurfa` illaa bi-dalaalatik bi sayyidee wa mawlaya yaa sayyidee yaa rasoolullah yaa rahmatan li 'l-`aalameen. [Recites silsilah of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain.] Shahaamatu ‘l-Fardani, Yusuf as-Siddiq, Abd ar-Ra’oof al-Yamaani, Imamu ’l-`Aarifeen, Amaanu ’l-Haqq, Lisaanu ’l-Mutakallimeen `Awn Allah Sakhawi, `Arif al-Tayyaar al-Ma`roof bi ‘l-Mulhaan, Burhaan al-Kuramaa, Ghawth al-Anaam. Yaa Saahib az-Zamaan wa yaa Saahib al-`Unsur, Yaa Jibreel, Yaa Mikaa’eel, Yaa Israfeel, Yaa Izra`eel, Yaa Munkirayni wa Nakeerayn. Yaa Sayyidina tabeeb al-quloobi wa Sayyidina` Isa, yaa miyy arb`a `ashreen alf anbiyaa wa mursaleen. Yaa Aba Ayoob al-Ansari, yaa Uways al-Qarani, Sayyidina Aba Bakrin as-Siddiq, thumma `Umar, thumma Uthman, thumma `Ali, Yaa Sayyidina Hamza, Yaa Fatimat az-Zahra, yaa Hasan, yaa Husayn, yaa Budalaa, yaa Nujabaa, yaa Nuqabaa, yaa Awtaad, yaa Akhyaar. Yaa muslimi 'l-jinni `umooman. yaa ahl al-barzakh mujtamai`oon. Yaa Saadaat an-Naqshbandiyoon. Yaa Awliyaullah `aammatan ajma`een. Yaa Rijaal Allah a`eenoona bi `awni-Llah wa koonoo `awnan lana bi-Llah `asaa nahdaa bi fadli ’Llah.
…And because of that we are plugged in and, as the Prophet (s) said:
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا مررتم برياض الجنة فارتعوا. قالو وما رياض الجنة؟ قال "حلق الذكر"
Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (s) said, "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked, "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "The circles of dhikr.” (Tirmidhi)
And on Judgment Day these events will be repeated in front of all human beings and what we are reciting tonight, the names of the Masters of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain (silsila) and the other forty orders, we are inviting all of them to be here tonight, thousands of them, and all of them connect to that tree of Muhammad (s). Allah showed the whole of Paradise to Sayyidina Adam (a) and said, “Don't touch that tree of Paradise,” and it is the Tree of Muhammad (s)!
That is why in Paradise, on every tree's leaf is written by Allah, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammad Rasoolullah.” So what more do you want of happiness? Go home and be happy, Allah is with us! May Allah make us from them.
Allah (swt) said to Adam (a), “You cannot transgress your limit with that tree.” That is forbidden for Sayyidina Adam (a), but he fell into that problem of disobedience because he wanted to eat from that tree and then Iblees gave him things to eat from the tree. Yes, that is the eternal, heavenly tree, but it is not for anyone but Sayyidina Muhammad (s), shajaratun min `indillah, a tree from Allah's Presence, what Allah (swt) described in Holy Qur'an:
شَجَرَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ زَيْتُونِةٍ لَّا شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَلَا غَرْبِيَّةٍ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
...An olive tree that is neither of the East nor of the West. (Surat an-Noor, 24:35)
That tree does not belong to the East nor the West, it does not belong to anyone but him (s). May Allah give us taste of that tree in Paradise! Anyone connected to Awliyaullah, they will come to him at his death, and more than that: anyone that connects his heart to the Prophet (s), he will be ready when they enter the grave! So be sure you say the Shahadah before passing away: Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadu ‘r-Rasoolullah.
Ummatan marhooma, mercied nation! Even before He created us Allah knew our disobedience, but He raised the power and the power in His Hand, Yad al-Qudrah, is not like our hands. May Allah (swt) give us His Shade on the Day of Judgment and shade us from these heavy moments.
[Du`a.]
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
