Dastoor, O our honorable masters! I am asking permission from you to speak about what is beneficial for us and for all people. Speaking of the holy orders and of our Prophet’s (s) sunnah is beyond our limit. We speak a few words from what is inspired to our heart on the level of the common people. Our service is appointed in this way, so they didn't leave us idle (unemployed). Allah shukr, thanks to Allah, You are Subhaan, O Lord! You are Sultan, O Lord! You are Subhaan, O Lord! We glorify Your Beloved, the Master of this Creation (s). May our day be good. Yawmun jadeed, rizqun jadeed. Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. A new day, new provision. This is a suhbah and what is a suhbah for? It is to teach the adab, which is necessary for people and is required for their servanthood. First of all, may we remember the Name of Allah first, as it is necessary for the servant for all his doings. This is the beginning of Mawlid ash-Shareef. What does Sulayman Chalabi, may Paradise be his abode, say to wake up the people? “O Allah! Your Order is the Most High, who keeps Your Order is Your servant.”
Mashaa-Allah, it is Allah’s Order. O bewildered ones, I am also a bewildered one. Know that, “O Allah! Your Order is the Most High and who keeps Your Order is Your servant.”
O Little Men! Who do you think you are? You are in between two breaths, so be careful with every breath! Whether you are a king, a ruler or whatever in earthly ranks, listen! “O Allah! Your Order is the Most High,” so do not stick your nose up in the air, saying, “I have become a ruler.” No, it is better to say, “O Allah! Your Order is the Most High!” Before every other thing, you should carry out Allah’s Order or else you will become trash and they will throw you into the trash can.
Our way is to remember Allah Almighty in every moment and the key to His remembrance in every moment is to say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. O our Lord! Your Holy Name, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.” Stand up! Stand up so that you appreciate Whose Name you are remembering. Say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.”
How beautiful are good manners and adab. When you say, “He is a person with adab,” everyone respects and loves him. Leave the one who has no adab, as he does not know any adab or courtesy. Who is he? He is an animal, because whoever doesn’t know adab is an animal. I wish he was an animal of Man, but no, he is the animal of Shaytan! Shame on these people who support Shaytan. They become animals for him and they never lag behind on anything he says, but they don’t keep the order of Allah Almighty!
You should make sajda so that your name is written as, “The servant of Allah.” A person with adab
is the one who performs sajda for his Lord. Whoever does not make sajda and says “I have no time,” even to pray two raka`ats in twenty-four hours, can never save himself from falling into troubles because Shaytan rides on top of him. He rides him here and there and degrades him. This is what they call “the 21st century,” Allah knows which century it is. Shaytan harnessed today’s people to such mills that, in previous times there were water wheels to bring up the water from wells. An animal would be harnessed to it and it would walk around to bring up water. We used to call that horse “horse mill,” what a beautiful expression, “mill horse.”
They call this the 21st century, but Allah knows which century it is. Shaytan has turned the people of the 21st century into mill horses. They blindfold the animals, because if they open their eyes they will see and not move. So they put a blindfold and whip a few times, then the animal treads. Otherwise, it does not move and the animal thinks, “We have gone into a city.” When it open its eyes, it sees that it is in the same place. Shaytan turned the honored Mankind into mill horses in their ‘21st century.’ If they stop for a while, he whips and hits a few times with a stick, “Move!” and they think that they are going to the city. When he opens their eyes, they see that they are still where they were. Shaytan made the people of the 21st century into mill horses! A mill horse does not go any distance but it just continuously runs. When they remove the blindfold from its eyes at night, it sees and says, “We are exactly where we were, what about all that we ran? We thought we were going to the city but we are exactly where we were.” All that (distance) you ran was in vain!
This is the illustration of people today, Shaytan turned Mankind into mill horses in the 21st century. He says, “Move, run!” they are blindfolded and thus, keep running. It has been told in the stories from the past, “He went and realised that he had moved only the length of a barley!” Now they don’t mention stories anymore; they read and watch disgraceful and dirty things. In the old times people would mention neat and clean stories that would show and guide others towards the simplest way. Now even donkeys and cars cannot carry the books of the people of the 21st century. What do they call it? A load, a cartload is needed to carry all their books. What do they learn? They don't teach, they close their eyes and say, “You have become this. Open your eyes, this is your diploma.” What else is there other than diploma? They say, “I got a diploma from this university.” and give you a rank, “He is a doctor, he is a professor, he is this and he is that.” When you ask them something they say, “I do not know, I will look it up.” If you need to look it up, what is the value of what you know? You studied and taught all these years, yet you still need to consult and look up in the books to answer.
Allah Almighty grants the knowledge to a person with a pure heart. Have you ever seen soup being served in a chamber pot? Even if it is clean, you put soup in a chamber pot and serve at your table, who would eat from it? People would say, “This man is really stupid. How can you serve soup in a chamber pot?”
And you may ask, “Why shouldn't I? It is also a pot.”
They answer, “Serve in a cooking pot instead.”
“There is no cooking pot, so I will serve in a chamber pot instead.”
So the people of this time are not even clean chamber pots, but are old and used ones! They do not know anything, because who doesn’t know his Creator is not a Man. The education that does not introduce you to Who created you is not education. Therefore, before studying, Hajji Effendi (q) would say to the small children, “O son say ‘Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.’” He would make them to say the “Bismillah” so that it would open their hearts and make their spirituality to start working. He would make them say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” and then “Rabbee yassir wa laa tu’assir, Rabbee tam ‘m-mim bil khayr.” As I sat in front of Haji Affendi (q) I said, “O Who created me! I came to this maktab to learn Your Orders, to complete my servanthood!”
He said, “Say O son!"”
I asked, “What should I say?”
Say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, Rabbee yassir wa laa tu’assir, Rabbee tam ‘m-mim bil khayr.” They would say “Allah,” while the others say the names of Shaytan. Students don't know what they learn and instructors are not aware of what they teach.
Shattana ma bayna huma.
People in previous times would get light (noor) similar to light that comes from the sun rise, where the lights of the day rise. Now the world of people is like the sun at the time of ghuroob (sun set); their sun is the setting sun. The sun of Islam, the sun of the believers rises and gives light. The sun of the people today sets and leaves them in the darkness of night. These (knowledges) are not taught; people do not know why they have been created and do not know what they should do, as they do not know adab. Studying is something, adab is something else. Have adab! If you want, there is the adab of the level of Sultan as well and every level has its own adab. A person who does not know his adab is without adab and the turn of those without it is to be with Shaytan. May Allah make us far from it!
Therefore, to speak everyday a few words for a suhbah even if we are weak, is the teaching of our great ones for ourselves. Our way is the way of disciplining people, it is the way of teaching adab. The value of who does not learn adab is the lowest level of animals. Therefore, first adab is to say, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” Yaa Rabbee, may You revive our external and internal beings with the Bismillah. Grant us strength and dress on us from the majesty of servanthood O Lord! May we read Your Word, O Lord!
They removed the reciting of the Qur’an from schools. How dare you! Who gave you the authority to prohibit the reciting of the Holy Qur’an in schools, who are you? Then you become like an empty cage; they collect you, arrange you and throw you into an empty hole. Did you ask what will happen to you inside the hole? Why don’t they throw (you) into the valley so that birds may eat you? No! They dig a grave and bury you inside that grave, each person will be buried. They will make his face turn towards the qiblah. Then the imam comes, takes three steps forward and says, Udhkur, “Remember,” the Imam Effendi says this. Others who came to the janazah are scared and stand shrinking back in fear. The Imam Effendi comes three steps forward and calls, “O you, Zaynal son of Fatima! O you Mehmet, son of Zahra! Udhkur, remember, remember! Qul Rabbee Allah! Say, my Lord is Allah.” How can the one who forgets the Bismillah know this? Qul Rabbee Allah wa deen al-Islam, “My Lord is Allah, my religion is Islam and my Prophet is Muhammad (s).” Udhkur, remember, because the questioning angels will come to you.
They will make you sit up and question you, “Who is your Lord?"
“My Lord is Allah.”
“Who is your Prophet?”
He is Sayyidina Muhammad (s), who is the Sayyidi 'l-Awwaleen wa ’l-Akhireen, the Master of Creation.” (Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) stands)
“What is your religion?”
“Islam.”
“What is your book?”
“The Holy Qur’an.”
“What is your qiblah, direction?”
“Ka`bah al-Mu`azzama, yaa Rabbee.”
When they lay us inside the grave, two angels will come and question us. What will you answer them? They don’t teach these things now. Shaytan says, “Don't teach, don’t believe such things,” then you will suffer in the grave. There is the squeezing of the grave. When the grave squeezes, the bones of the (ribs) will cross into each other and squeeze. We can’t even lay in our beds, we feel uncomfortable. The angels will say in the grave, “Squeeze this one,” the bones will cross into each other. Do not forget death O mankind! Learn your religion O Mankind! Do not forget the Bismillah O Mankind! Say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, I woke up remembering Your Holy Name and to keep Your Order O Lord!” They don’t say, “O Lord, may I keep Your Order! Let me wash my face, make ablution, take a shower and make sajdah for You even for two raka`ats.”
What are you living for then, if all your concern is eating and drinking; this is the only concern of animals as well. So then, what is the difference? O Man! Think on these things. You can be a king, a sultan or a president, but we are all men and we will all be questioned; we should not forget this! We should start every day by saying “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” How beautiful, what an honor it is to recite the Bismillah. What a disgrace for the one who cannot recite it. O Lord! May You send us Your servants who will wake us up, so that our day starts with remembering Your Holy Name.
We wash our faces and say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem,” and pray two raka`ats and make sajdah as much as we know.
If you don’t know how just make sajdah and say, “O Lord, may You accept and may our every work succeed, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. O our Lord! We remembered Your Holy Name. May You not expel us from Your servanthood. May You accept us to Your servanthood. Make us live clean and to be with the ones who live clean. O our Lord, I live for You, not for dunya.
Live for Your Lord and live long, as your Lord does not make you suffer. Say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” and your every work will succeed; or else, Allah (swt) will make those people to be humiliated in dunya and in Akhirah. Amaan yaa Rabbee! May You not leave us in the hands of the dirty ego. This is the teaching of adab and there is no one left who teaches this; not in our mosques or schools. Shame on us! Shaytan made us to take off the honorable dress and the honorable uniform. We seek refuge in Allah! Shaytan dressed, not on us but on the people, a dirty dress sealed by him. Shaytan takes away the noor from their faces, people are without noor. A man without the Bismillah becomes a man without goodness, he has no good for himself or for others.
Let us say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” and not forget this. O people! O jama`ah! Do not trust
weapons or cannons. You will be protected if Allah protects you, or else no one can save you. O Allah, Your Name is the Most High. Who keeps Your Order is Your Servant. Mashaa-Allah! May You make us from who keep Your Order O Lord! Do not say, “I have work to do,” or “I have no time.” Allah (swt) can make you confined to bed and then you will understand. If not, you will suffer in the grave.
(They ask,) “Where are you going?”
“I am going to the graveyard to read.”
“What will you read in the graveyard?”
“I will read Qur’an for our deceased.”
“But your deceased did not read when they were alive. What is the benefit if you read for them now?”
O our Lord, tawbah yaa Rabbee! Tawbah yaa Rabbee, tawbah astaghfirullah! The power to overcome the tyrants is in the Bismillah. Even if the whole world enters fire, the one who recites the Bismillah 40 times will not be burned and will come out unharmed! Teach this and pull yourself together! Know your humanity, acknowledge your servanthood! Know Your Lord and your dunya and Akhirah will become prosperous.
(People say,) “We do not have a job or any money.”
“What about the government, is it not paying?” If you wait for the government to pay, you wait in vain. May Allah pay us, as dunya is full of jobs and Allah will pay us. Go out and wait in the labor market and say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” O Lord, open the door for us. Say, “Yaa Mufattih al-abwaab, O our Lord, Who opens all the doors! Iftaah lanaa khayru ‘l-baab, Open the door of goodness for us! For some people, a door of Hell opens and for some, a door of Paradise. O our Lord, open for us the door of Paradise! Say this seven times daily, “O our Lord, open the door of Paradise for us. O our Lord, may the doors of Hell be closed for us! Say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem,” the doors of Hell will close for you and the doors of Paradise will open. O people, we should come to our senses. Tawbah yaa Rabbee, tawbah yaa Rabbee. Shukur yaa Rabbee, shukur yaa Rabbee, shukur alhamdulillah. Let us say “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” Al-Fatihah. Fatihah has been granted to us from the heavenly Table and it can save the whole world.
