Salaamun `alayk, ya Shafi`ee al-waraa, ya rabb ija`lna junoodun min junoodillah!
O our Lord! Make us from the servants of Allah that are strongly supported.
A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. Alhamdulillah...wa ash-hadu an laa ilaha illa-Llah, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa habeebuhu wa rasooluh...ridwaan Allahi ta`ala `alayhim ajma`een.
Qul in kuntum tuhiboon Allaha fat-tabi`oonee yuhbibkumullah wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum.
Say, "If you love Allah, follow me (Muhammad). Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (`Aali Imraan, 3:31)
Allah (swt) told Prophet, "Say, 'If you want to love Allah, follow me (Prophet) and Allah will love you.'"
Ashaabee ka 'n-nujoom bi ayyihim iqtadaytum, ihtadaytum
My Companions are like stars. Whichever of them you use as a guide, you will be rightly guided.
ya ma`ashar al-muslimeen, `alayna bi ittiba` ash-haabi rasoolullah, haythu .. hum wa nahnu lahum shaakireen. haythu qaala: in kuntum tuhiboonAllah, fatabi`oonee yuhbibukumullah. And we took Islam from the Sahabah (r), we didn't get it directly, so we have to respect them. Some of them were khulafah, dressed in this responsibility, as Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) and Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Uthman (r) and Sayyidina `Ali, karam-Allahu wajha.
Today we have something to say about Sayyidina `Ali (r) as Prophet (s) said, "I am the city of knowledge and `Ali is its door." What is the door? If you want to come to a house, you need to go through its door. if you want to come to a fortress, where people are living now as in old cites, you cannot enter except through the door. And Allah (swt) said:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتًا غَيْرَ بُيُوتِكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَأْنِسُوا وَتُسَلِّمُوا عَلَى أَهْلِهَا ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Yaa ayyuhaa al-ladheena amanoo laa tadkhuloo buyootaan ghayra buyootikum hattaa tasta'nisoo wa tusallimoo `alaa ahlihaa dhaalikum khayrun lakum la`allakum tadhakkaroon.
O you who believe! Enter not houses other than your own until you have asked permission and greeted those in them; that is better for you, in order that you may remember. (An-Nur 24:27)
The best house is the heart of Prophet (s)! That is why you must not turn your back when you visit the Prophet (s) in Madinah, but remain facing the holy grave, as they tell you today.
Imam Malik (r) taught, "Face the shrine as this is the one who taught you, this is your Lord and Creator, and that house is the Prophet, and that focus of manifestations of Divine Light is the heart of Prophet, and the Prophet said:
انا مدينة العلم و علي بابها
Anaa madeenatu'l-`ilmi wa `aliyyun baabuhaa.
"I am the city of knowledge and `Ali is its door."
anaa awwal man yajlis bayna yadayy ar-rahman li 'l-khusooma yawm al-qiyaamat.
Imam Bukhari (r) mentioned that Prophet (s) said, "`Ali is the first one to enter the Presence of Allah, and of those who are taken in by the Prophet, none of those are to be thrown away!"
We don't want to be of those thrown away, so what to do? Come with adab and respect, knock at the door and it will open. That door is so important that ibn Asakir (r) related from ibn Abbas (r), who is the most important and knowledgable of the interpreters of the Holy Qur'an, said, nothing was revealed in the Book of Allah, as much as was related about Sayyidina `Ali, radi-Allahu ta`ala anhu wa arda. Three-hundred verses were revealed about him, all of them speaking of the importance of Sayyidina `Ali and his honor.
How would it not be so when he is the "cousin brother" and son-in-law of
Prophet (s)?
Sayyida Fatimah (r) said, "I will not accept to marry Sayyidina `Ali without my dowry."
Prophet (s) said, "What is the dowry you are asking?"
She said, "I am asking forgiveness for the whole ummah of Prophet!"
Allah (swt) was happy with that, and sent Sayyidina Jibreel (a) to tell Prophet to accept her condition. One lady will take whole ummah to Paradise! And she is not normal lady. One lady is making shafa` for the whole nation, so what then do you think of the shafa` of the Prophet (s)?! It means more and more blessings will be dressed on the ummah!
And Sayyidina `Ali (r) was one of those who put together the Qur'an when it was being revealed, and he showed it to Prophet (s), who told them where to put each verse and chapter, and the names of the surahs. Sayyidina `Ali was involved in that. Umm Salamah (r), wife of Prophet (s), said that Prophet (s) said:
علي مع القرآن والقرآن مع علي لن يفترقا حتى يردا علي الحوض
`Aliyyun ma` al-Qur'an wal-Qur'an ma` `Ali, laa yaftariqaan hatta yaridaa `ala al-hawd.
"`Ali is with the Qur'an and Qur'an is with `Ali, and they will not separate in this life until they come to the Prophet at the Fount." (al-Hakim in his Mustadrak, saheeh, Tabaraani in his Awsat)
And that is the river that is a blessed river, that no one can describe the water that is in it.
When Prophet (s) went in Mi`raaj, he saw a huge lion in Paradise and he asked, "Who is that lion?"
Sayyidina Jibreel (a) said, "That is `Ali asaadullah al-ghaalib, 'the Lion of Allah who will swallow Shaytan'."
Prophet (s) said, "And Sayyidina `Ali (r) is with the Qur'an" and (he said) "the heart of Qur'an is YaSeen" and (he said) "the heart of Qur'an is Fatihah."
We call it "water," but no one knows what it is. At that time, at Kawthar they will separate, not separate apart but each will go to his respective level. What is the meaning of, `Ali asaadullah al-ghaalib? Allah described him as His lion in His paradises.
The heart of Qur'an is Prophet (s), and as mentioned:
إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ
Innaa anzalnaahu fee laylati al-qadr.
Lo! We revealed it on Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Predestination (27 Ramadan)." (al-Qadr, 97:1)
So the heart which can carry the Qur'an is the Qur'an itself. So He is YaSeen as he was described by that, and that means the Prophet is the Qur'an!
law anzalnaa haadhaa al-Qur'ana `alaa jabalin lara'aytahu khaashi`aan mutaşaddi`aan min khashyatillah.
Had We sent down this Qur'an on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder (shatter to dust) by the fear of Allah! (Al-Hashr, 59:21)
The Qur'an was revealed to Prophet (s) in Laylat al-Qadr, and he didn't shatter! The one who can carry what that mountain and universes cannot carry, the Qur'an, is Sayyidina Muhammad! He is "YaSeen," the heart of Qur'an, and `Ali is the door to Qur'an, and Sayyidina Abu Bakr (q) is saahib, the closest Companion. You can have hundreds of saahibs, but only one went for hijrah with Prophet from Mecca to Madinah. So these two are the ones about whom Allah (swt) revealed so many verses of Qur'an.
That does not mean He didn't reveal verses of Qur'an about Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Uthman (r). About Sayyidina `Umar (r), Prophet said, "If there was a prophet to come after me, it would be `Umar." Sayyidina Uthman is the "Possessor of Two Lights," who married two daughters of Prophet (s), and no one else has that distinction.
