Two Words Which Allah (swt) Loves

To begin, we say, Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Kaleematan khafeefataan `ala al-lisaan thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezan subhaanAllahi wa bi-hamdihi, or subhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi subhaanAllahi 'l-`Azheem, astaghfirullah. The Prophet (s) said two words or two sentences that are very light on the tongue, you cannot feel them. It’s not like when you prepare an essay or lecture, how long it takes! If someone tells you, “You are going to speak tomorrow about Shakespeare,” you will prepare a lecture, is it correct? If someone says to you, “Speak about Al-Fatihah,” what do you do? You have to prepare what to say. Prophet (s) is telling us what to say, so easy! Do we follow the easy way or the difficult way? The easy way.

He (s) is saying two words, kaleematan khafeefataan, very light on the tongue, and we are not going to give a lecture because it’s already covered with these two words. If you add all the lectures of the whole world, they are not going to give you the benefit of these two words! Why are you torturing yourself to prepare something? Allah is saying to you through His Prophet (s), “Say these two words and it’s enough.”

The Prophet (s) mentioned in another Hadith that when you mention these two words, tasqutu ’dh-dhunoob min jismik, your sins will fall off completely from your body until the Day of Judgment, but say them: “SubhaanAllah!” [SubhaanAllah!] “Wa bi-hamdihi!” [Wa bi-hamdihi!]

Yaa Sayyidi! Yaa Rasoolullah! We are calling on you from here that we said it! Prophet (s) said, “They are so light on the tongue,” you don’t need to prepare. Say, “SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi,” or in another Hadith, “SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi, subhaanAllahi 'l-`Azheem.”

Praise be to Allah, The One Who provides everyone with His favors. Where are miseries left? When He said, “I am going to reward you,” if you don’t get it in dunya, you get it in Akhirah. When Allah promises, He promises through His Prophet (s), which is a medallion for us. What do we have to say? SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi. I am not hearing it. I am raising my voice...[SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi!]

The Prophet said, “They are very light on the tongue, but very heavy on the scale.” When you go buy something, they put it on the scale and in our time they used to put iron weights of 1 kilo, 2 kilos, 3 kilos, 5 kilos, in order to balance the scale and on the other side they put what you are buying. This is how they use it, but for that there is no balance. Thaqeelataan fi ‘l-meezan, these heavenly words take over the scale, the scale cannot take their weight anymore. When you say these two words it flows from the scale, but say them!

What is the best reward you are asking from Allah (swt)? To die on imaan, is it not, is there anything better? No, but we see many other things combined with that. People are asking, “My child is going to school, what do I have to do? My child is going astray, what do I have to do?” “My child is...I have this problem, I have that problem.” Render it to Allah (swt)! Say, “SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdih,” and Allah will take away all difficulties from us, but we have to say it. We have to believe in it and He asks you to be persistant in your asking! Sometimes what you are asking for doesn’t come quickly, but Allah doesn’t forget like we do; He will give it, but be patient. He likes His servant to keep asking Him!

What in dunya do we like to do most? I think everyone likes that, and other than saying, ‘SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdih’, Allah is giving us so many ways out of problems and to be rewarded, so many ways to Paradise! There is a famous saying:

At-turuq il Allahi ta`alaa bi-`addadi anfaasi l-khalaa’iq.

The number of ways to Allah is on the breath of every human being.

If you add every breath of all human beings, there are that many ways for to Allah to forgive us, but we must ask!

The best that we like and everyone likes in dunya are two things: one is to touch Hajar al-Aswad, is it correct? You see people fighting and pushing each other to reach the Black Stone. We call it Hajar al-Aswad because it’s aswad, black, from the sins of human beings: it was green/white and turned black from our sins. Everyone likes pushing the other in order to reach Hajar al-As`ad or Hajar al-Aswad because it is a piece from Paradise. When you touch Paradise, do you think Allah will burn you? You already touched Paradise. You already landed in Paradise when you go to Ka`batu ‘l-Musharrafa and you touch Hajar al-As`ad and now there is no longer any way for you to go to Hellfire: all your sins are gone, past, current and future!

You are going to Allah’s House, won’t Allah invite you inside that House? Think about it. Why does it have a door? They were able to make it with four walls and no door, but Allah is showing you that is a house with a door, “That is My House on Earth and I am inviting everyone to come and clean themselves for the Day of Judgment when they will appear as they appeared in front of My House in dunya.” So, when you go to Allah’s House in dunya, you appear in front of Ka`bah, is it not? That picture is taken, it’s not only today...you can look at Ka`bah and you don’t see it, you see mobile phones taking pictures, with hands up, raising your hands, asking Allah (swt), so it’s better than only taking a ‘selfie’! [Laughter.]

Allah is inviting us. Do we say, “No, we won’t go”? We go! Everyone who goes there has been invited. Those who did not go there must “Visit the House of Allah (swt) if you are able.”

وَلِلَّـهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا

Pilgrimage to the House is a duty men owe to Allah, those who can afford the journey.

(Surat Ali Imran, 3:97)

If you can you do it and don’t delay it, especially young ones, do it when you are young, but if you cannot, Allah will forgive you. As soon as you appear in front of Ka`bah, your picture is taken and on the Day of Judgment you come up with that picture, “Yaa Rabbee! I was invited to Your House. Where are you going to put me, in Hellfire? I came to Your Home.” When someone knocks on your door in dunya, do you open it or do you lie and say, “Go away, there is no such person here.” Even if you knock at a door, that person feels bad if he doesn’t open his door for you and not only that, he will feed you and send you with what you like to take, and you will take it and go. Allah (swt) made that possible for us, saying, “I put My House in dunya, I am Merciful. I want you to visit.”

What is better than visiting Allah’s House? Today people visit Spain, Italy, the Eiffel Tower, the leaning Tower of Pisa. They say, “I am busy, I am busy.”

“What are you busy with?”

“I have to go to visit Europe.”

Why don’t you say, “I’m busy, I’m going to visit Baytullah, Allah’s House.” What is better, Europe, America, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Sub-continent, Southeast Asia, Africa? No, the direction of every Muslim is to reach the House of Allah (swt). When you reach, you have to keep your adab. Respect the House, don’t shout and don’t push people to reach Hajar al-Aswad. From far, if you say, “Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. In the Name of Allah, Allahu Akbar,” that salaam will reach and it will respond to you, “Wa `alayka salaam, yaa `abdAllah.” Ka`bah sends the salaam back; it’s not a dead stone, it’s from Paradise, it can see and speak!

Sayyidina `Umar (r) said, “If I didn’t see the Prophet kissing you, I would never kiss you. You are a stone, you don’t give any benefit.” Sayyidina `Ali (r) was behind him and said, “Yaa `Umar! What are you saying? No, that’s enough. That stone is going to witness for you on the Day of Judgment that you said Shahadah in front of it.”

That stone is going to witness for every person who visited the House of Allah (swt) on the Day of Judgment that you said Kalimat at-Tawheed when you went there, so what do you want better? Say, SubhaanAllahi wa bi-hamdihi, “Praise be to Allah (swt) for His favors.” This is His favor!

The second place that you like to visit is Prophet (s). Astaghfirullah wa atubu `ilayh. You are visiting Allah’s Messenger, Allah’s Beloved, the Seal of Messengers (s) and that is an order.

Verily, Allah and His angels send praise on the Prophet. O Believers! Pray upon him and greet him with a worthy salutation. (Surat al-'Ahzaab, 33:56)

Allah and His angels are praising Prophet (s) in every way and the one who is being praised is the one who can be visited! We go east and west and they tell you, “This is a grave of this poet, this lecturer, this or that person,” and for Madinah they don’t tell you to go and visit. They only say to visit the relics of the Romans and other past civilizations that are not Islamic relics, and now we have this crazy group blowing up all Islamic relics in the name of Islam, which is hasha! Islam doesn’t let that happen. We don’t want to go into politics, but before them there were other groups destroying the graves of Sahaabah (r), but every one of us wants to visit Prophet (s) and appear in front of his Muwajaha, the Holy Grill which the Holy Grave is behind. We come and say salaam to Prophet, “As-salaamu `alayka ayyuha ‘n-Nabi,” using the Arabic letter “kaf”, “As-salaamu `alayka”, as we don’t say, “As-salaamu `alayhi”, which is past tense; “As-salaamu `alayka” indicates the present and future tenses, speaking directly to Prophet (s)!

When the Prophet (s) passed away, when Ibn Masud (r) in the At-Tahiyyat in prayer, when he reached salaam on Prophet (s) he used to say “As-salaamu `alayhi” and Ibn Abbas (r) stopped him, saying, “No, we say ‘As-salaamu `alayka,’ addressing the Prophet (s) directly.” Now we say from here, addressing, “Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah,” as Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur’an:

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآؤُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُواْ اللّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُواْ اللّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا

If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come to you and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:64)

“When they oppress themselves, they come to you, yaa Muhammad (s), asking forgiveness from Allah (swt) in your presence and you have to ask Allah forgiveness for them, then Allah will accept.” We have this guarantee from the Prophet (s) from this ayah of the Holy Qur’an, just as visiting the House of Allah here and visiting His Beloved One, Sayyidina Muhammad (s). What do we do there? We visit and then what do we do? We push for what? To get to Rawdah, everyone wants to come into the Rawdah, is it not? Do you like to pray two raka`ats in the Rawdah? Everyone likes it! The Prophet (s) said:

“Between my grave and my minbar, Rawdatun, is a Garden of Paradise, ma bayna qabree wa minbaree rawdatun riyaad al-Jannah, a Paradise from Heavens,” in that piece. Ma bayna qabri, “Between my grave, wa minbari, and the pulpit of Prophet (s), Rawdatun min riyaad al-Jannah, “A paradise from heavenly paradises.”

So it will be the highest, best paradises for Prophet (s). We are also going there to pray two raka`ats after visiting Prophet (s). What did Hajjah say? [There’s fighting there.] Yeah there, that’s why we say, “We don’t fight.” In any case, that fighting is for hubb Allah `Azza wa jall, hubb ar-Rasool, for the love of Allah and Prophet, so Allah will reward also; it will not be less than those who are not pushing, and everyone is pushing! At the end of the allotted time to visit there, everyone is pushing to pray two raka`ats and then move and then someone else comes.

When I was living there in the 1970’s, you prayed there as much as you wanted, it was not blocked, nothing, it was wide open, even the Muwaajaha was open, even Baab at-Tawbah near Rawdah, but now they put Qur’ans there. We used to pray there. In any case, everyone is pushing to reach from the time they come off the plane because some people don’t know, they think that the plane is part of the Rawdah! They are going to Rawdah, “Which is part of Rawdah?” Why not? It will be beneficial for you to prepare yourself from your home to the plane to Madinatu ‘l-Munawwara. Allah will be happy with you, making salawaat on His Prophet all the way!

The second best for you is what? To visit Prophet and pray two raka`ats in the Rawdah, is it correct? What will happen with those who cannot go; they want to go, but they cannot? Allah gave them a way. Prophet (s) said in his Hadith to his Sahaabah (s):

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا مررتم برياض الجنة فارتع. قالو وما رياض الجنة؟ قال "حلق الذكر"

Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (s) said: "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked: "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The circles of dhikr.” (Tirmidhi)

Prophet (s) is telling his Sahaabah, “When you are walking in the city, in the alleys of Madinatu ‘l-Munawwara and you find a Garden of Heaven, sit.”

Now today the world is big and transportation is easy, so if you are in the west or in the east, do you find a Garden of Heaven? Yes there are, because Allah doesn’t deprive His servants from getting the reward of a paradise. It is not like the Rawdah with Prophet (s) in Madinatu ‘l-Munawwara, but it is a part of a Garden of Heaven. Prophet said in an authentic Hadith, “If you pass by a Garden of Heaven, you sit in it.” Don’t say, “Oh, I see this Garden of Heaven, but I don’t have time to sit with them so I’m leaving.” No, then you are doing something wrong; if you see a place that has a Garden, sit with them. How can you know the place? Prophet (s) continued the Hadith, Sahaabah asked, wa maa riyaad al-Jannah, yaa Rasoolullah? “What kind of heavenly gardens are on Earth other than your Rawdah?” No one can reach his Rawdah. The manifestation that Allah sends every moment, every fraction of a second cannot be compared to any but this Hadith of Prophet (s) that gives us a way out, even though it’s a drop: we will be happy with the drop! A drop from the Prophet is oceans! So what is that? They asked, “Yaa Rasoolullah! Wa maa riyaad al-Jannah, what kind of Gardens of Heavens?” He (s) said, “Circles of dhikr, Hilaq adh-Dhikr.” ‘Circles’ means those people who are sitting and remembering Allah (swt), that is a Garden of Paradise: Allah will change it from soil that is not a garden to a Garden of Heavens! Allahu Akbar! Can Allah do that or not? He can do that in every moment! He can change this whole dunya into a Garden of Heaven if He wants!

Prophet (s) said to Sahaabah, “You are going to find Gardens of Heavens when you are walking (driving, flying); you are going to see circles of dhikr, then you sit with them.” A circle of dhikr can be in a house, in a masjid, in a centre, in a field, in a jungle, in a desert, in an ocean, it can be anywhere, it can be on a boat, a plane. As long as someone is sitting doing dhikrullah, where he is sitting is a Garden of Heaven: Allah changes it and sends His Beautiful Names and Attributes on that person and on that place, like in the case of the Virgin Mary (a), who was able to get food because she turned her niche into a circle of dhikr. Whenever Sayyidina Zakariyya (a) entered her niche, he found rizq there, according to this commentary of Holy Qur’an; he found provisions, from where? From Allah (swt).

إِنَّ اللَّـهَ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

Truly Allah provides for whom He wills without account. (Surat Ali Imraan, 3:37)

“Allah provides for anyone without count.” Because of dhikrullah, she was min az-zaakiraat, a lady whose tongue was always in dhikrullah, even when she ate. If they put food in front of her, Allah sent her that food, and her food is dhikrullah. Sayyidina Yunus (a) was in the stomach of the whale and because he was zakir, doing dhikr in the whale, Allah gave him a way out. So what Allah (swt) put on the tongue of His Prophet (s) in this Hadith must make every Muslim happy!

The Prophet (s) said: "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked: "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The circles of dhikr.” (Tirmidhi)

If you read Hadith and Qur’an, if you call on Allah’s Beautiful Names and Attributes anywhere, it turns into a place of dhikrullah. We are sitting in this place now, in this house with honorable people living in it, in this moment, in this time, this place becomes a Garden of Heavens and there is no doubt because of the Hadith of Prophet (s); there is no doubt, for sure! Tomorrow there is no dhikr here, so the tajjali, heavenly manifestation of turning the place into a Garden of Heaven will stop, but the reward will continue until the Day of Judgment and it will never stop!

No one can understand Allah’s generosity. If people come another time, a new light, new Beautiful Names and Attributes will be sent over this house, because they turned it into a circle of dhikrullah. Every time you come and go, every time to that place or to another place, the other masjid or the other house becomes a piece of a Garden of Paradise. Just as He turned every place where there is dhikr into a Garden of Paradise, may Allah (swt) turn our hearts into a Garden of Paradise and to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and to everyone, mashaykh, `ulama, awliya, Sahaabah, to be at their doors and be with them in dunya and Akhirah. May Allah give the owners of this house happiness, inshaa-Allah.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
