The Unending Struggle of Good Vs. Bad

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

8 March 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

As-salaamu `alaykum, the salute of peace for our attenders! We are weak servants, but very few understand they are weak. The majority of people want to be powerful and strong, and on a high level among people. That is a mad attribute and is against servanthood.

Shaytan is always fighting prophets and good people. Good people are those who know they are servants, who try to maintain servanthood. Bad servants are trying to send away servanthood from themselves and claim that they are something. Good servants say, “We are nothing!” whereas bad servants say, “We are something!” Therefore, good ones are always thinking about goodness and how to reach it or how they can keep the honor dressed upon them by the Lord of Heavens.

Which dressing is best for Mankind? The one which their Lord dresses them with, or Shaytan’s dressing? That is the constant fight: good ones against bad ones!

Good ones understand that the most honored dressing is what the Lord of Heavens dressed them with and there can’t be any other dress! A person may be dressed (in heavenly honor), but Shaytan (provokes him) against that principle, saying, “No! You are Mankind, you are something! Therefore, you must dress in another dressing. Those who say, ‘We are servants’ are no-mind people. You must say, ‘We are noble ones, kings, queens, presidents, marshals and generals!’ I have prepared for you so many honorable titles and am dressing you with them, and you are throwing it away to be servants? Shame on you!”

Do you understand, is it clear? All troubles come from that point. Allah Almighty is saying, “O My servants,” but Shaytan says, “O People! Don’t accept to be servants, but each one of you should accept to be (worldly) honorable ones! What is servanthood? You are Man, of the human race! Maybe other creatures can be servants, but it is not for you. You must wear honorable clothes to say, “We are kings and queens, we are this and that!”

This is making all the troubles on Earth in our days, because nations are fighting and claiming, “We are the noblest ones and we must rule over all other nations.” That is from Shaytan! And people are saying, “I am your director, you are under my position, your honor is not like my honor, I am more honorable. Therefore, you are beneath me!” The one with the lower rank is trying to go up. An ordinary officer’s aim is if he has only one star, he is asking to make it two; if he has two stars, he is asking to make it three; if he has three, he is asking for a crown! Then two crowns and after that, for an insignia of a sword, and then their caps become different (decorative uniforms). For what, so people can say, “This is a great and honorable man, a big one above all people. Other people are ordinary ones, but this one has been granted some honorable dressing!”

Someone says to them, “Please take off these clothes and stand in front of the mirror to show your real being. Why do you think you are a high-ranked one? Take your clothes away and look!”

But tyrants and dictators say, “We must be on top of that nation; no one can be like us!” And they order designers, “You must prepare such a uniform for me that no one has ever dressed in, so they should understand I am the most honored one among them!”

That is ghaayat al-jahal, “extreme ignorance,” and muntahaa al-jahal, “absolute ignorance!” So many tyrants say, “My dressing is above all your dressing, my honor is above your honor, my chair, my throne and my title is above yours! Nothing else is higher!”

Allah Almighty is saying, “You are My servants,” but Shaytan is saying, “No! Don’t accept it! Why should you be servants? You are something! Show that the dress of servanthood is nothing!” Shaytan asks you to prepare imitated dresses that are never meant for you, as the Lord dresses upon you the real dressings of servanthood.

That is the point over which all the fighting, quarrelling, killing and every madness is taking place and Shaytan is very happy, saying, “Kick out servants and come over them to say, ‘I am your lord! My title is above your titles and you are my servants!’” just as Pharaoh said, anaa rabbukum ul-`ala, “I am your highest lord.”

For what? Has the generation of Pharaoh finished? No! It will remain until the end, as everyone’s ego always comes together with Shaytan, and Shaytan wants that everyone must say, anaa rabbukum ul-`ala, “I am your highest lord,” and you are my servants. I am not a servant, but you all are servants for me!” For what?

Tawbah, astaghfirullahi 'l-`azheem! Tawbah, astaghfirullahi 'l-`azheem! Laa ilaaha illa-Llah. allahuma la takilna ila anfusina tarfata `aynin wa laa aqaala min dhalik. Ameen.

That is important. We were thinking about speaking on something else, but they are changing it because this is a very important point. May Allah forgive us!

Fatihah.

Tyrants want to show they are above the common people. They have cars of so many models, their buildings, thrones, and furniture are so different. In all things they differ between common people and themselves. May Allah forgive us here and Hereafter! Therefore, the Holy Prophet (s) said:

Allahuma rahmataka arju, fala takilni ila nafsi tarfata `ayn, wa aslah lee shaa’ni kullahu, laa ilaaha illa anta!

O Allah! I hope for Your mercy, so leave me not to my ego even for the blink of an eye, and set right all my affairs. There is no god but You! (Abu Daw’ud)

O People! Come and accept that you are servants, and you will be happy here and Hereafter! However, as long as you are saying “I am/we are something,” you will be punished here and Hereafter!

May Allah Almighty forgive us. We were thinking about speaking on something else, but they are making us speak about what is necessary, not only for us but for all nations!

Fatihah.
