A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`alaa fee haadha 'l-masjid.
أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ
Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)
(…) around the world that we are eating, that wali knows which tree or which lamb he is eating from. He knows the shoot of the wheat and which grain is in his bread. Allah (swt) did not create this world for nothing. Awliyaullah know everything, as Allah gave them the power to see. Look at the wali’s hand: if he is eating, then that is what Allah ordered him to eat, because there must be barakah in that food, so take from it quickly. Take from the dish he is eating, because Allah put the barakah inside it.
وعن جابر رضى الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أمر بلعق الأصابع والصحفة، وقال: "إنكم لا تدرون في أي طعامكم البركة"
Jabir (r) reported: Messenger of Allah (s) commanded the licking of fingers and the gleaning of the dish, saying, "You do not know in which portion the blessing lies." (Muslim)
Today, we are against sunnah. What do you do when you are finished eating? Prophet (s) said, il`aq al-isba`, “Lick the fingers,” because the barakah might be there. Don’t use anything else, as it is not sunnah and you lose the barakah.
Today, Shaytan is teaching the west to put these (paper napkins). We did not have these in the previous days. We ate with our hands of what is left, we lick them or clean up our plate with some bread. Now you lose the barakah by using towels (napkins) and if you don’t use them they say, “Look at how he is licking his fingers.” It is sunnah to lick the fingers! How do you eat meat? Prophet (s) used to get the leg or shoulder with the bone, bite it and pull it, not cut it with the knife, because that is against sunnah, as is cutting bread. Cutting the food with a knife is against sunnah; if you have something to eat, you eat it, not like today where they are cutting the food. It was not like this in previous times, it was done by hand. Sunnah is to eat the bread piece by piece, not from here and there or by cutting it, as you must eat it with adab.
There are many ahadeeth and books on the discipline of how to eat food. No one pays attention to that anymore, especially all of us these days. May Allah forgive us and bless without looking at what we are doing, as what we are doing is completely against Shari`ah and Sunnah. We are like a child walking and falling, walking and falling. We need someone to keep us walking straight. Allah (swt) created us from Ummat an-Nabi (s), so Prophet (s) keeps us straight and awliyaullah are helpers of Prophet (s), they keep the ummah straight.
That is why you see Qadiris, Naqshbandis, Chistis, etc. What does that mean? It is to keep every group safe in order to reach Prophet (s). One wali has his way, the other wali has another, and so on. So you cannot say, “Why are the Qadiris doing this? The Naqshbandis are better,” or vice versa. We have to respect all tariqahs. You must respect all of the 124,000 awliyaullah. One wali knows all of the 124,000 awliya. They are like a Persian rug, all woven together in a very nice way. You cannot take one out as their place will become empty, then Allah will send another to take their place so that chair must not be empty. Inshaa-Allah, may Allah keep us together all the way with awliyaullah in dunya and Akhirah.
Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
This suhbah is enough for all of us in dunya and Akhirah. Who sent us this water, where is it coming from? You will see that it is from overseas. Which stream is it coming from or what is its source? You are drinking it here and all that you are drinking is being registered. Do you think awliyaullah don’t know how much they drink? There is a heavenly measurement which measures how much water you are going to drink in one day, it is written, you cannot exceed or decrease, you will drink what is written. It is the same for food, you will get what has been written. Subhaan-Allah, we are dumb and blind. The ladies in the house cooked. Who made them to cook? Who made that person to cook the food that was catered today? Not (a mureed) or anyone else who placed the order, but Allah (swt) gave them a special power to cook that food to be blessed for these people. It is in the Holy Qur’an:
كُلُّ شَيْءٍ عِندَهُ بِمِقْدَارٍ
Wa kullu shay’in `indahu bi-miqdaar.
Every single thing is before His Sight, in (due) proportion. (Surat Ar-Ra`d, 13:8)
So it is not more or less, subhaan-Allah. You see people running or jogging in the morning to improve their body and increase their life, and Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur’an:
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ فَإِذَا جَاء أَجَلُهُمْ لاَ يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلاَ يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
wa li-kulli ummatin ajalun fa idhaa jaa ajaluhum laa yastaakhiroona sa`atan wa laa yastaqdimoon
And for all people a term has been set and when their time has come, they can neither delay it by a single moment nor can they hasten it. (Surat al-A`raaf, 7:34)
The moment their leaf falls from the tree, it is given immediately to Sayyidina `Azra’eel (a) to take out that soul and bring it back. In a moment, Sayyidina `Azra’eel (a) takes the soul with his angels. What they say is incorrect, that running or jogging day and night by the lake or anywhere else will increase your life. So people jog as they want to increase their life, but it is written when you are going to die with the second, not more not less! That is why you cannot be upset. Yes, you can be sad, as Prophet (s) said when his son Ibrahim (r) passed away, wa inna `ala faraqika Ibrahim la-mahzunoon, “Yaa Ibrahim, we are sad for your death.” But you cannot complain, as Allah (swt) wants Ibrahim (r), the son of the Prophet (s), to be in Paradise at that moment. Prophet (s) did not have any boys, because his heart is for one and not many.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
