As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-`alameen Sayyidina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim. Dastoor, yaa Sayyidee, madad.
I always have to tell myself and you that any `amal that does not begin with “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” will not have any continuity and will be cut. So any `amal we do has to begin with “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem,” as the Prophet (s) said:
?? ??? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??? ????
Qaala ‘n-Nabi (s) kullu `amalin laa yabtadaa’u bismillah fa-huwa abtar.
The Prophet (s) said, “Any action you do that did not begin with ‘Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem’ is cut.”
This means without reciting “Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem” there is no barakah in it; the barakah will disappear. We must ask ourselves if we did this. We want to buy or sell a building or look after a garden. After some time the garden dies, the business disappears or you lose money because you did not begin what you intended to do with, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.”
If we meditate a little on the meaning of Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, we find it consists of three of Allah's Beautiful Names and Attributes: “Allah,” “ar-Rahman” and “ar-Raheem.” “Allah” is the Name containing al-Ism al-jam`i li ‘l-Asmaa wa ’s-Siffaat, “The Name Encompassing All the Beautiful Names and Attributes.” When you say “In the Name of Allah, Bismillahi,” you are immediately dressed with the 99 Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah (swt)! When you say, “Yaa Rabbee, Bismillahi,” will Allah (swt) not respond? He said:
????????? ?????????? ??????
Id`oonee astajib lakum.
Supplicate to Me and I will give you! (Surat al-Mu’min, 40:60)
As soon as you say, “Yaa Rabbee, Bismillah,” the 99 Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah (swt) will be dressed upon you immediately. “Ar-Rahman,” is the Name of the Essence through which we know the Presence of “Allah.” We don't know what that is. In Arabic we call it adh-Dhaat al-Buht, “The Essence of Allah.” No one knows about it, we only know about it from the Beautiful Name “Allah,” and it is described through the 99 Beautiful Names.
So when we call on Allah (swt), we are calling upon The Essence which no one knows! The Prophet (s) is the one whom Allah (swt) taught; if Allah (swt) gave him some meanings of The Essence the Prophet (s) knows, and if He did not, then Prophet doesn't know. That is “laa shareek lahu”, “He has no partner”, for no one can associate himself with The Essence and the Beautiful Names and Attributes!
“Bismillah” begins with the Arabic letter, Baa. Why doesn't it begin with Alif? Discipline is to begin with Alif, but we begin with Baa. Everything we do, every `amal and every word you say has a discipline; everything has protocol and etiquette. For example, when you sit with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) you must have etiquette, a specific way to speak and sit, and how to understand him. There is a way to follow and you must try to follow it as these awliya are leaders of Akhirah. Similarly, if you sit with dunya men or dunya leaders, you have to be careful to follow specific etiquette: you must have a knife, a spoon, a fork and napkin, and sit in a certain way. Therefore, every `amal has a discipline.
So Alif is before the Baa, so why do we begin with Baa? It is a secret; not everyone can call on the Alif as it is the first letter of “Allah.” Allah (swt) wants His Prophet (s) to mention Him, so the Baa is an Alif in sajda, horizontal, submitting, and the second letter of the alphabet. The first letter, Alif, is always standing: we are standing. It means Allah (swt) is showing His Greatness by making us stand on two feet. Can this video camera tripod stand on two feet? No. Can a cow stand on two or three feet? Then why is Man standing on two feet, have you ever asked this question?

Su’il Rasoolullah (s), kayfa yuhshar ahl an-naar `alaa wujoohihim? Qaala: inna’Lladhee amshaahum `alaa aqdaamihim qaadirun an yamsheehim `alaa wujoohihim.
It was asked of the Prophet (s), “O Messenger of Allah! Allah (swt) has said in Holy Qur'an that on the Day of Judgment, some people will be resurrected on their faces. How are they going to walk on their faces?” Prophet (s) said, “The One Who made them walk on their feet will be able to make them walk on their faces!”
To walk on one is a punishment. But Allah (swt) made us to walk on two. That means Allah (swt) does not want us to come to Him except through the Baa; through the Prophet (s)! The Baa represents the Prophet (s), it is an Alif but not standing, rather it is lying down. Now it is shaped liked a boat, but in previous times it was flat. So the Prophet (s) is an Alif in sajda: the Baa. Allah (swt) gave him the respect and honor to say, “Bi-Ismillah!”
On a computer you can open a page and hide it. I don't know how, but you can get another page. Similarly, there is a hidden Alif in “Bi-Ismillah.” Allah (swt) wants to honor Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and said, “Yaa Muhammad! Go and teach them. You can give what I reveal to you. You are the one in continuous sajda.” That is why Prophet said (s) “Through me you know Allah!” Through the Baa you know Him, as Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur'an, “Iqraa, read!” Iqraa what?

Iqraa bismi Rabbika ’Lladhee khalaq.
Read! In the Name of your Lord Who created. (Surat al-`Alaq, 96:1-2)
Iqraa bi-Ismi rabbika alladhee khalaq, “Yaa Muhammad, read with the knowledge I gave you through your sajda to Me, read in the Name of The One Who Created!”
Who created the Creation? Allah (swt)! He created the Heavens, Earth, angels, and the Creation we don't know about. Then He didn't say, “Bismillahi ’l-Khaaliqi ’r-Raheem,” or “Bismillahi ’l-Khaaliqi ’r-Rahmaani ’r-Raheem.” Allah (swt) said, “Bismillahi ’r-Rahmaani ’r-Raheem,” as these Attributes are over dunya and, therefore, we live under the manifestation of these two Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah (swt).
“Ar-Rahmah, the Mercy.” Allah (swt) said, “My Mercy is over everything!” Allah (swt) provides for everything such as animals, human beings and angels through the Name, “ar-Rahmaan.” Through “ar-Raheem,” Allah (swt) forgives everyone with His Compassion and Mercy. That is to say, “With Your Mercy we are living and with Your Compassion You forgive us.” This is why the Prophets (s) said:
?? ??? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??? ????
Qaala ‘n-Nabi (s) kullu `amalin lam yabdaa’u bismillah fa-huwa abtar.
The Prophet (s) said, “Any action you do that did not begin with ‘Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem’ is cut (there is no barakah in it, the barakah will disappear).”
There are three Meems in “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” for Ahmad, Mahmoud, and Muhammad. All of them Prophet’s names and begin with Meem, so in Allah’s Beautiful Names, He is mentioning Muhammad (s)! In “ar-Rahmaan” and “ar-Raheem” Allah is mentioning Muhammad (s)! This means He is manifesting on Ahmad (s), which is the Prophet’s (s) name in Heavens; on Mahmood (s), who is always between Heavens and Earth, something that we cannot know in this Universe; and on Muhammad (s), the name we know through the Holy Qur'an and hadith.
The Sahaabah (r) knew the Prophet (s), but we do not. That is why the Prophet (s) said:
????? ??????? . ???? ?????? ??? ???? ???? : ??? ?? ???? ???? ? , ??? ?? ???? ?????? ??? ?????? ????? ?? ????? ????? ?? ??? ?????? ??????? ??? ????? , ??????? ??? ????? ???? , ???????? ??? ???? ????
Ishtaqtu li-ikhwaanee. Faqaala Ashaabahu nahnu yaa rasoolullah? Qaala: laa antum ashaabee ammaa ahbaabee fa-unaasin min ummatee yaatoona fee aakhira’z-zamaan yuhiboonanee wa lam yarawnee, aa`waanakum `alaa al-khayri katheerin wa aa`waanahum `alaa ash-sharri katheer.
Anas bin Malik (r) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (s) said, "I wish that I could meet my brothers." The Sahaabah (r) asked, "Aren't we your brothers?" He replied, "You are my Companions, but my brothers are people from my nation who come in the Last Days who will believe in me without having seen me." You have many supports for doing good and they have many supports for doing evil. (Ahmad in his Musnad)
“I miss my brothers.” The Sahaabah said, “Are we not your brothers?” Prophet (s) said, “No, you are my Companions, that is a different level completely. But the ones I am missing, whom I love and want to see are those who will come at the end. They believe in me without seeing me. They are my brothers.” Those are the brothers of the Prophet (s), the Ummata ’n-Nabiyy (s), who believe in him and they didn't see him. That is why Allah (swt) always keeps 124,000 awliya on Earth, not just one. Each wali is inheriting from one of the 124,000 prophets (a) and also from the 124,000 Sahaabah (r ). Every Sahaabi received from the Prophet (s) and from one of the 124,000 prophets of Bani Isra’eel, and awliyaullah inherit from the Prophet (s), from other prophets and from the Sahaabah. And awliya are there, taking their knowledge from “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.”

Innahu min sulaymaan wa innahu Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Verily it is from Sulayman and verily it begins with the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
(Surat an-Naml, 27:30)
The letter is from Sulayman (a), but the power and the miracle is from Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. When Sulayman (a) asked for the throne of Sheba to be brought before she arrived, one of the strongest Jinn said:
????? ???????? ????? ???????? ????? ?????? ???? ?????? ??? ??????? ??? ?????????? ???????? ???????? ????????? ???????
Anaa ateeka bihi qabla an taqoomu min maqaamik,
I shall bring it to you befoire you rise from your council-seat. (Surat an-Naml, 27:39)
It means, “Yes, I can get you the throne before your meeting with her ends.”
And Sulayman (a) said, “No I don't want it.”
And then `Asif ibn Barkhiyya, to whom Allah (swt) had given that power, said:
??? ?????? ???? ?????? ??? ????????? ???????? ????????
Ana ateeka beehi qabla an yartada ilayka tarfuk,
I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye! (Surat an-Naml, 27:39)
“I can bring that throne of Sheba before she arrives here, in the blink of an eye!” and in the blink of an eye, the throne was there! He was a wali. Sayyidina Sulyaman (a) could have done it, but he is teaching, and within the blink of an eye it was there, with the power of Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
One wali in the time of Sayyidina Sulayman (a) and Sayyidina Dawood (a), who was a believer in Tawrat and the Zaboor, was able to bring the throne of Sheba. What about the awliyaullah of today who are inheriting from the Prophet (s)? Depending on their levels, they can bring the whole dunya under their feet! That is why Allah (swt) made 124,000 awliya. As mentioned by many awliya, one wali goes and another comes and sits on his chair. It does not mean there is only one and the rest are zero! No, you cannot say this or it is as if you said there is only Sayyidina `Ali (r) and no Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), Sayyidina `Umar (r ) or Sayyidina `Uthman (r ), as the Shi`a claim. Was there one Sahaabi or 124,000 of them? Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r), Sayyidina `Umar (r), Sayyidina `Uthman (r ) and Sayyidina `Ali (r) were the highest of them! It is said that whatever Allah (swt) poured in the heart of the Prophet (s), he poured into the heart of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r).
Also, Prophet (s) said, “The difference between you and Siddiq is something in his heart, shay waqara fee qalbih, that no one else knows.” The Prophet (s) did not reveal that secret, but when they were in Ghaar Thawr while migrating from Mecca to Madinah, the Prophet (s) said to Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r):
?????? ?????????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ????????? ????????? ??????? ????????? ???? ????? ??? ???????? ???? ??????? ??????????? ??? ???????? ????? ?????? ??????? ????????? ?????? ??????????? ???????? ??????????? ????????? ????? ????????? ???????? ???????? ????????? ????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ??????? ???????
Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahullahu idh akhrajahulladheena kafaroo thaniyy ithnayni idh humaa fi 'l-ghaari idh yaqoolu li-saahibihi laa tahzan inna allaha ma`ana fa-anzala ’Llahu sakeenatahu `alayhi wa ayyadahu bi-junoodin lam tarawhaa wa ja`ala kalimata 'Lladheena kafaroo ’s-sufla wa kalimatullaahi hiya al-`ulya w 'Llaahu `azeezun hakeem.
If you help him not, still Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him forth, the second of two, when they (Prophet and Abu Bakr) were in the cave, and he said to his Companion, "Be not sad (or afraid), for surely Allah is with us." Then Allah sent down His sakeenah (calmness, tranquility, peace) upon him, and strengthened him with forces which you saw not. (Surat at-Tawbah, 9:40)
The Prophet (s) said, “Don’t be sad, Allah (swt) is with us.” No one knows what Allah (swt) gave to the Prophet (s) and what the prophet (s) gave to Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r ).
Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Abu Bakr (r )! Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) never mentioned more than twenty-five ahadeeth, and he was always with the Prophet (s), and yet Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah (r) mentioned thousands of ahadeeth. Sayyidina Abu Bakr hid it, as you can hide a page on your computer, and then when you remove the other pages it appears. According to their respective levels, awliyaullah are able to take from what is in the heart of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), which is why we see many people all around the world (doing so).
I don’t like to say this, but we have to know and understand that people are listening to us and every word is being taped. We have to be very careful, because when you sit with `ulama (they question whatever you say), whereas when you sit with mureeds it is easy, because whatever you say, they answer, “Aamana wa sadaqnaa!” No questions, why? Out of love for Mawlana Shaykh Nazim! Whatever Mawlana Shaykh says, they say, “Aamana wa sadaqnaa, we listen and we believe!” But `ulama and awliyaullah are looking, because they know there is a wali above them at a higher level. They cannot understand everything the wali above is saying, yet they respect each other and, therefore, they cannot argue with each other. They sit together in the association of the Prophet (s) and it is something known. Even scholars know that awliyaullah meditate and get inspiration in their hearts from the Prophet (s), and they know other awliya and they are shy to ask questions.
Every group of people thinks their shaykh is Sultan al-Awliya, which is normal. We cannot argue with them or say, “No, your shaykh is not Sultan al-Awliya, my shaykh is Sultan al-Awliya!” In your own group and association, praise your shaykh as much as you like! Imam Busayri (r) said, “Praise Sayyidina Muhammad (s) as much as you like, but don't make him as Christians did for Sayyidina `Isa (a).”
So praise when we are together in such associations, but when you go abroad (outside of our group), be careful. In Indonesia, I sat with one shaykh, Habeeb Hasan, and his brother doing Mawlid. It is amazing; every week they do Mawlid somewhere. When I came, they had arranged it so I would also be there. It was in a stadium with at least 300,000 people, and everyone there loves Shaykh Habib Hasan, so can you say to them he is not Sultan al-Awliya? No, it is impossible! They don't use that term “Sultan al-Awliya,” but can you say he is not a wali? With his sincerity, Allah (swt) gave him something; he is a wali and we believe he is a wali!
When he finished reciting Mawlid, he asked me to speak. They know I give respect to all of them; they are “Habaa'ib,” Sayyids from Ahlu 'l-Bayt, and they give respect, so had there been no security, the attendees would have killed me for barakah: they pulled hairs of my beard, my shoes and clothes, because th
