The Reality of Prophet in the Presence of Allah

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

4 February 2016 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

Isha Suhbah

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Narju’Llah `azza wa jalla an yaghfira lana dhunoobana bi jaahi habeebihi ‘l-mustafa wa ahli baytihi ‘l-kiraam. It is easy to speak, but it is difficult to understand, because when you understand something it is necessary to rise up with that thing, but when you give a speech you don’t necessarily rise up, a speech comes in this ear and we allow it to go from the other ear, but if we close one ear then that understanding will stay inside. Allah gave us...if you look in the ear, how fine it is that Allah (swt) gave us something in the ear like a drum. How? Did we ask ourselves how Allah (swt) created Creation and He created us? An ear, this (outer ear) is the dish and this inside is the LNB, it pulls the information that comes on the dish and transmits it in a language, it sends it inside as a magnetic wavelength moving that small bone inside that gives you someone speaking, and not all of them speak the same, everyone speaks different. How many languages there are? In China thousands of languages, in India thousands of languages, in our Arab countries different kinds of dialects. One ear understands all of them. Who is behind that? Allahu Akbar! He said:

Truly the creation of the Heavens and the Earth is greater than the creation of Man. (Surat Ghafir, 40:57)

He said, “The creation of Heavens and Earth is greater than the creation of human beings.” Each one of us is a ma`wjiza, miracle, coming from a small dot in the womb of his mother, becoming a human being, Allahu Akbar! So we stand `ajeez in front of all that, helpless, dumbfounded, and whatever we say:

وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ

Above every knower is a (higher) knower. (Surah Yusuf, 12:76)

Yet Allah (swt) created us...“He did not create you for your beautiful eyes, He created you because He loves you.” Allah loves His Prophet (s), His Messenger and He loves His Ahl ul-Bayt, his Family. We have to love what He loves, if we don't love them we are away from Allah on the Day of Judgment.

Wa kullun min rasoolillaahi multamisun, gharfan min al-bahri aw rashfan min ad-diyami.

All of them partake from the Prophet of God a handful of his oceans or a sip from his continuous rains.

(Shaykh Muhammad al-Busayri, Burdat ash-Shareef)

“Everyone is taking from seeking the Prophet (s),” yaanee wa kullun min rasoolullahi multamisan--what are you taking from the Prophet (s)? You are coming and seeking him and what do you want? Multamis, asking for what? Asking without stopping! Gharfan min al-bahri aw rashfan min addiyami, “by pitchers from the ocean of the Prophet (s)” whose Reality is in Bahr al-Qudrah, laa tanfaq yaqool fee ahad khalawaatihi, shaykhunaa Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) said in in one of his seclusions what Allah created first is the Reality, the Noor, Light of the Prophet (s) in Bahr al-Qudrah, which He put in a Lamp, heavenly Zujaaj of transparent glass, qawaareera min fiddatan qadaroohaa taqdeera, “It has been very well put together.” And he (q) said Allah (swt) kept that Haqiqat an-Nabi (s) under His Gaze for 70,000 heavenly light years of which every day is like 1,000 years on Earth, and when 70,000 years passed, Allah (swt) looked at him with another Gaze for 500,000 years, which was repeated five times, raising him from one level to another through another five levels: the first level was 70,000 and every level from that was five times 500,000 years. Then the Reality of the Prophet (s) began to sweat, like drops of water condensing inside the glass, not outside, it is inside, like in winter when you have condensation on windows, or in summer in hot countries sometimes we turn on air conditioning inside and from the hot weather outside itproduces condensation. So with continuous condensation these drops began to appear on the inside of the heavenly Glass and from that Light of the condensation, He created all the 124,000 prophets, as Ibn `Abbas (a) mentioned in Tafseer Surat al-`Araf, that when Sayyidina Musa (a) asked to see Allah (swt):

قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنظُرْ إِلَيْكَ قَالَ لَن تَرَانِي وَلَـكِنِ انظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُ فَسَوْفَ تَرَانِي فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّى رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا وَخَرَّ موسَى صَعِقًا

He said, "O my Lord! Show Yourself to me that I may look upon You." Allah said, "By no means can you see Me (directly), but look upon the mountain: if it abides in its place, then you shall see Me." When his Lord manifested His glory on the mount, He made it as dust and Moses fainted. (Surat al-`Araaf, 7:143)

“‘O my Lord let me see You,’ and Allah said, ‘You will not see Me but look at the mountain, if it stays in its place you will see Me.’” So Allah sent one Manifestation of one ray of the Light of Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because he cannot carry the Reality of Allah, no one knows Allah’s Dhaat ul-Buht, Allah is only known by His Asma wa Sifaat. So when that Reality came on the mountain, the mountain dissolved and Sayyidina Musa (a) fainted and when he awoke he saw 124,000 prophets following the Prophet (s) in prayers.

From these drops of Noor al-Muhammadi, more Noor is coming out making the condensation on the Glass and from that Allah (swt) created the 124,000 prophets and from the core of that Light Allah created his Family, Ahlu 'l-Bayt. That’s why ‘Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem’ is the Key for Paradise as Prophet (s) said:

كل أمر ذي بال لا يبدأ فيه ببسم الله الرحمن الرحيم فهو أقطع أو(فهو ا

Any action which does not begin with ‘Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem’ is cut off; it has no continuity. (Ahmad, al-Musnad)

Every `amal has to begin with Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, your appearance in dunya is Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem and everyone has a different Tajalli of Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem to appear in dunya. You did not choose that face, or you that face. Everyone is under the Tajalli, Manifestation of Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem in a different meaning that Allah knows best, and with that he appears. So every drop inside began with Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem which is comprised of nineteen letters and the names of Ahlu 'l-Bayt are comprised of nineteen letters (in Arabic): Sayyidina `Ali, Sayyida Fatima, Sayyidina al-Hasan, Sayyidina al-Husayn and Sayyidina Muhammad (s). So Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem is manifested directly under those Ahlu 'l-Bayt whom Prophet (s) covered with his jubbah, cloak.

No one can understand the Reality of Ahlu 'l-Bayt: whatever they describe is outside of it, so that’s why Ahlu ‘l-Haqiqah, Awliyaullah, stand `ajizoon, helpless and they know they cannot know more than what is being given to them, so after the creation of the Anbiyaaullah, from that Noor, as it is mentioned in the Hadeeth Khalqu ‘n-Nabi (s) by Ibn `Asakir:

رواه عبد الرزاق بسنده عن جابر بن عبد الله بلفظ قال قلت: يا رسول الله، بأبي أنت وأمي، أخبرني عن أول شيء خلقه الله قبل الأشياء. قال: يا جابر، إن الله تعالى خلق قبل الأشياء نور نبيك من نوره فجعل ذلك النور يدور بالقدرة حيث شاء الله تعالى

When Jaabir (r) asked, “Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you, oh Prophet of Allah! What is the first thing that Allah (swt) created?” the Prophet (s) said, “The first thing that Allah (swt) created is the Light of your Prophet from His Light, O Jaabir. Then He made that Light rotate as He (swt) willed with His Power.” (Musannaf `Abdu ’r-Razzaq)

He was rotating in that heavenly Glass, creating more and more condensations of Light on the Glass, and from all that Allah created the `Arsh, the Kursiyy, the Heavens, the Earth, the angels and jinn and human beings and all Creation. We are connected to him (s):

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)

Fattabi`oonee, follow. Allah knows we cannot follow in `amal, our deeds are a sour soup (a mix of good and bad deeds). It means, “Hold my cloak and come with me!” and who is under his cloak? Ahlu 'l-Bayt, so, “Hold my Ahlu 'l-Bayt and come to me, fattabi`oonee!” because Prophet (s) is moving in Ascension and Ahlu 'l-Bayt are moving with him! That’s why he said to Sayyidina Fatima (r) when she was crying that her father was going to leave dunya, he whispered in her ear and she was happy. What did he tell her? Sayyida `Ayesha (r) wanted to know what Prophet (s) told her and she did not tell as she promised not to tell, then after Prophet (s) left dunya she told her that he said, “You are going to follow me after six months,” fattabi`oonee. So the first itiba`a was for Sayyidina Fatima (r) following her father. The whole Ummah has to follow Ahlu 'l-Bayt in order to reach and ascend with Prophet (s), because on Laylat al-Israa wal-Mi`raaj, when the Prophet (s) was invited for Ascension, he said, “Yaa Rabbee , I need my Ummah!” because Prophet (s) would not leave his Ummah behind; they were ascending with him according to their levels: first Ahlu 'l-Bayt , then his Sahaabah (r), then the rest of the Ummah. When you ascend, do you come back? When the Prophet (s) reached the Divine Presence, Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa, hal yuqaal an yatruk dhaak al-maqaam wa yarja`? Hal raja`a haqiqatuhu bi kulli haqiqatihi? Is it acceptable to say that the Prophet (s) left that position and came back? Awliyaullah say that one of his Haqiqah, Realities, came back because the other Realities...for Sayyidina Musa (a), when Allah (swt) manifested that Light on the mountain it shattered, so what will happen when the Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) that reached al-Israa wal-Mi`raaj and Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa comes back? No one will be able to carry it!

Look at the story of Ahmad al-Badawi (q) when that Wali appeared to him and poured in his heart the Reality of `Ilm, wa `alamnaahu min ladunna `ilma:

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا

So they found one of Our Servants on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our Own Presence. (Surat al-Kahf, 18:65)

Because of the Heavenly Knowledge that Wali put in his heart, no one could look in his eyes or they would faint, so he covered his eyes with a burqa. Therefore, what do you think would happen to the Ummah if the Prophet (s) came back with all these Realities? They would shatter completely! That is why Abu Hurayrah (r) said in one Hadith, “One part I explained, I gave to everyone, but if I were to say the second part, they will cut my neck.”

I have been given two different types of knowledge from Prophet (s): one I shared with everyone, but if I share the other, they will cut this neck of mine. (Bukhari)

No one can understand the Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s): he is where he was and he will be where he will be, with no beginning to his Reality as a Servant to Allah (swt), Maqaam al-`Abdiyyah, he is in the level of Servanthood to Allah which has no beginning and no end, he is `Abd from whenever Allah wants him to be `Abd and he will be `Abd to whenever Allah wants him to be `Abd! Past, present, and future are the same for him.

May Allah open the hearts of Muslims and the `ulama of the Ummah, not to say these are shatahaat, ecstatic statements.Yes, Awliyaullah like Sayyidina Muhiyyidin ibn `Arabi (q) and Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) and Junayd al-Baghdadi (q), all those Awliyaullah, `ulama did not understand them although they were `ulama. Like this small small story here, he said that one of the Awliyaullah, Shaykh Aba al-Khayr al-`Aqta` (q) said, “I came to the city of the Prophet (s) and stayed five days by the Holy Grave of the Prophet (s), not eating and not drinking. After that I approached with only dhikrullah and meditation.”

Behold! In the creation of Heaven and Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding, those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (saying), "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose! Glory to You! Grant us salvation from the torment of the Fire.” (Surat Aali `Imraan, 3:190-191)

He was contemplating the creation of Heavens and Earth. “After that I gave salaams to the Prophet (s) and to his Sahaabah (r) and then I said, ‘I came to you, yaa Rasoolullah, as your guest,’” because everyone who comes to Madinah is a guest, so what shall the host do? He hosts them! If you speak to a normal Arab or Muslim, if a guest comes to him, what will he do? He will host him for three days, not asking him anything (of his plans), and he can sleep, eat, drink in comfort. So what do you think about the Prophet (s)? People coming from all around the world to visit him are his guests and he (s) will accommodate every one of them and give them what they need, and what each one needs is different from another person. Also, Prophet (s) can see all of them at the same time, in the same moment, as they are coming to enter Madinat ul-Munawwarah and Baab as-Salaam. He welcomes them just as he welcomed heads of tribes, even though they were non-Muslim; they came to ask questions and some became Muslim. Prophet (s) hosts them and welcomes them.

Shaykh Aba al-Khayr al-`Aqta` (q) said, “When someone comes to Madinat al-Munawarrah, I am your guest, so host me.” So with what will Sayyidina Muhammad (s) host him? Awliyaullah have miracles. He said, “I am your guest, yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah,” and he sat on the side and slept behind the minbar, where the Prophet (s) was touched it and the minbar felt his sweetness and it made salawaat on the Prophet (s), and when he left dunya people heard the rail where he put his hand haneen, as if the minbar was crying. So Shaykh Aba al-Khayr al-`Aqta` (q) said, “I went behind the minbar and slept and saw the Prophet (s) in my dream with Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) and on his right Sayyidina `Umar (r) and on his other side Sayyidina `Ali (karam Allahu wajha), who told me, Qoomoo li sayyidikum, ‘The Prophet (s) came, so stand up!’ I stood up and kissed him between his eyes. He pulled bread from his pocket, ragheefan, fa fadafa` `alaya reefan fa akalta nisfahu, and I ate half it. When I woke up, I had the other half in my hand.”

When I was in Madinat ul-Munawwarah, I met one of the Haba’ib, Habeeb `Asim, who told me, “I was seven years old,” and now he is 60 or 70, “My father used to be the one responsible to clean the inside of the Holy Grave, Hujarah ash-Shareefah, he swept and cleaned the Maqaam. My mother came to see my father at his work and I was standing in front of Hujarah ash-Shareefah, where there is a fajwa, circle in the door, and I put my hand in the opening and was making salawaat, then I felt something in my hand and I pulled my hand out and found a bottle of `attar in it, which I showed it to my mother and said, ‘Look what I got from inside!’ My mother immediately said, ‘Give it back.’ I put my hand back inside and it disappeared. We went home and my mother told my father what had happened, and he said, ‘Why did you tell him to give that back? That was a gift from the Prophet (s) to him.’” Awliyaullah have high levels that we must to know are impossible to comprehend!

Above every knower is a (higher) knower. (Surah Yusuf, 12:76)

This means Awliyaullah are in a hierarchy in a Golden Chain and to reach from the first one in the hierarchy to the top, all of them are connected to the Prophet (s) like links of a chain. This is why it is advisable, and I am not warning myself only but I am warning others, that we have to be very careful, because in ihs level even the lowest Wali is a Saint and we have to respect him just as we respect the one at top of the chain.

We do not distinguish between any of His messengers. (Surat al-Baqara, 2:285)

We don't differentiate between any Prophets, between any Awliya, between any Mashayikh: we say they are all our leaders whom we love and respect, but if you have more love for your shaykh that does not mean you have to put down other shuyookh, that is not advisable. It’s a big mistake that people might do when they begin to promote their mashayikh, which they don’t know makes them feel shy in front of Prophet (s). The mureeds don't understand the sensitivity of saying something that might affect the heart of Prophet (s) as he loves them all, because if you take away any piece of the chain the whole chain will collapse. If you hit the bottom of the chain it will ring to the top, and if you hit from the top of the chain it will ring all the way down, so you cannot say, “This one is better than the other one,” because all of them are loved by the Prophet (s) and Allah (swt).

Do you want another story? [Yes!]

Abu ‘l-Khayr al-Daylami (q) said, according to Hilyat al-Awliya: I was sitting in the store of Khayr an-Nassaaj (q), one of Allah's Awliya, and a lady came to him and asked him to make her a towel and asked how much it will cost.

He said, “I will make that towel, mandeel, for two dirhams.”

She said, “I don't have the money now, I will bring it to you tomorrow.”

He said, “If you come and don't find me, throw the dirhams in the River Dijla and al-Firaat (Euphrates). When I return I will take them, don’t worry, inshaa-Allah.”

She said, ‘With love and respect, I will come and throw them in the River Dijla.”

That lady came the next morning and he was not in the store, so she waited one hour and he did not come, so she took the two dirhams and put them in a khirqa, small piece of cloth, and threw them in the Djila. At that moment a salt`an, crab came and pulled the cloth and dove into the water. After two hours, Khayr an-Nassaaj (q) was sitting by the beach making wudu, then that crab came out of the water holding the cloth and approached the shaykh and handed him the khirqa, which the shaykh took and the crab went back to the ocean!

Awliyaullah! This is a lesson for us that when your love exceeds certain limits, when it goes to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s), then the whole dunya will be under your order:

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ

He made everything in the Heavens and everything in the Earth subservient to you. (Surat al-Jathiyah, 45:13)

“Allah makes subject to you whatever is in Heaven and what is in Earth.” Then in every action, when you move it must be a miracle. May Allah (swt) make our lives miracles in the love of Prophet (s), in the love of Awliyaullah, and for sure in the love of Allah (swt). This book, Al-Fawz wan-Najaat fil-Hijrah il-Allah, ta`leef Muhammad as-Sayyid at-Tijani, is full of nice stories, and inshaa-Allah we will try to go through it in the future.

May Allah forgive us and if I said something wrong forgive me. What I heard from Grandshaykh (q) I mentioned. Awliyaullah’s knowledge is not limited, what Awliyaullah know is vast from East to West with no limitations, from dunya to Akhirah! Today you might ask, “Why don't we see such people?” They are there, but they are not allowed to show. When Grandshaykh AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) entered seclusion by the order of his shaykh, Shaykh Sharafuddin (q), for five years he ate one piece of bread the size of half your palm and seven olives he ate daily, with as much water as he liked. He said, “I entered very big and I was very slim when I came out and to test me more when I came out, Shaykh Sharafuddin did not let me go back to my family; he sent me a message, "Don't come to see me!" He went in at 18 and came out 23 years old. After seclusion, you are yearning to come to see your shaykh and your family. Shaykh Sharafuddin told him "Go spend 40 days with Ibrahim Effendi (who was al-majdhoub) and listen to his suhbat, then you can come to see me.”

Grandshaykh told me, "I went and stayed with Ibrahim Effendi and respected him as I respect my shaykh, and listened to whatever he said of no sense to me and he was teaching me through his jazba and after 15 days many miracles began to appear to me, and anything I did became a miracle. I went to see my shaykh, Shaykh Sharafuddin, who was also my uncle, and he said, ‘I want you to divorce karaamaat, six talaqaat!’”

In the Naqshbandi Order you must not show any miracles, you must only show you are weak and helpless before Allah, not showing miracles directly although you may show indirectly by making du`a that is answered. However, now people say, “Where are the Awliyaullah miracles?” They are there, but you have to find them as the time is approaching when all that power is hidden in the hand of one whom the whole Ummah is waiting to come! May Allah give us life to see that heavenly peace coming on Earth and to see him, the great-great-grandson of the Prophet (s), about whom he mentioned:

لا تقوم الساعة حتى تمتلئ الأرض ظلما وعدوانا ثم يخرج رجل من عترتى أو من أهل بيتى يملؤها قسطا وعدلا كما ملئت ظلما وعدوانا

The hour will not arise until the Earth is filled with oppression and enmity, then a man will come from my descendants and will fill it with fairness and justice as it was previously filled with oppression and enmity. (Ahmad, Ibn Hibban)

Inshaa-Allah, as Allah (swt) said:

وَقُلْ جَاء الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا

Say (O Muhammad), "Haqq (Truth) has come and baatil (falsehood) has perished.” (Surat al-Israa’, 17:81)
