`Abdur-Rauf al-Yamani (q), head of the awliya from the seven holy ones, said, “Shaykh `AbdAllah, give me that money for your hijaz (travel). Your permission is only up to here, turn back.” There, at that time the mufti was a Circassian and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah is from Daghestan and was his friend. He said to Grandshaykh, “King `Abdullah wants to see you.” He agreed and went there.
King `Abdullah (r) did not like those who came to him with books and he often said, “That book you are reading, I can read as well! (However) a person who comes to me may speak to me directly, so that I may understand his knowledge.” He (a guest) is your ancestor.
Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) was illiterate. The first time he sat with King `Abdullah, he said, “O Your Majesty, the King! You have an intention, but it is not the right time for it.”
The king said, “How do you know this?”
Grandshaykh replied, “You had a dream; tell it to me.”
King `Abdullah (r) said, “I had a dream in which I had plans to attack Haramayn ash-Shareefayn after the hajj season, to conquer it. But when I entered Rawdat ash-Shareef as an animal, a wild animal attacked me and I didn’t know how to save myself from it.”
He is your ancestor (again indicating the person sitting near him).
Grandshaykh (q) explained the king’s dream, saying, “As I mentioned, this is not the right time for it,” and he later narrated, “He confirmed that.”
The king replied, “What he says is true. If I had attacked they would have finished us.”
Again Grandshaykh said, “Now is not the time for you, be patient.”
Grandshaykh (q) gave him bay`a and returned from there. Afterwards, when I went there the following year, a mufti named `Umar Effendi Cherkessi came to Sham with his brother; King `Abdullah, peace be upon him, had sent them. At that time `AbdAllah Effendi (the king) said (to them), “I have my grandshaykh there, go to him for his instructions.”
Grandshaykh (q) said, “Nazim Effendi, bring pen and paper.” I brought that much white paper; he had me write in Turkish and he declared two matters. He said, “Regarding the first matter, he may discard that idea. The second matter of His Majesty, the King, is to advise him that there is no need for him to attend Jumu`ah or jama`at in the mosque.” I wrote that and they may look for it in my papers. Shaykh Effendi (q) put his seal on it, and the mufti and his brother also signed it. I wrote it, as he called me. “No Jumu`ah and no jama`at for him either,” he said. “He will not go to Jumu`ah nor will he be seen in jama`ah.”
There was a movie shown here last night, in which King `Abdullah comes to Jerusalem and the head ones there said, “O Your Majesty, the King! Today is Jumu`ah, you have honored us here. We may pray Jumu`ah in Masjid al-Aqsa, if you order it so.” The movie showed when he was coming with that crowd, Shaykh Effendi (q) said, “Don’t go to Jumu`ah; no Jumu`ah for you!” That is my writing. I am not the witness, but I myself personally wrote it. He said, “Don’t appear in Jumu`ah! And no need to appear in jama`ah either!”
The people are like this and that. I saw the Great One is coming with a huge crowd, and there was so much applause, but when he reached the door he saw someone firing a gun at him! One of these evil ones from these dogs aimed at him from the door! There is a dog-cursed one among them. There is no cursed one among Arabs, but evil non-Arab ones snuck in among them. They martyred the great king there!
These words we are speaking are strong and firm:
قَالَ ذَلِكَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ أَيَّمَا الْأَجَلَيْنِ قَضَيْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَانَ عَلَيَّ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ
Qaala dhaalika baynee wa baynaka ayyamaa ’l-ajalayni qadaytu falaa `udwaana `alayya w’Allahu `alaa maa naqoolu wakeel.
He said, "Be that (the agreement) between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I fulfil, let there be no ill-will toward me. May Allah be a witness to what we say. (al-Qasas, 28:28)
I mean, they may not think these words we are speaking are from us. They can destroy forty kings! They are (vicious) hound dogs that should never be given a chance or they will do as they like.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq. May Allah send us Saahibu ‘l-Waqt. We cannot speak on his behalf.
