The Most Important Thing is to Have Faith, Part 1

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

9 March 2013   Washington DC Metro Area

Morning Suhbah at a Private Residence (1)

(Suhbah in progress.)

...he went and asked someone and she can tell you the story.

Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani: He asked my father, “Go tell Amina (q) (Hajjah Naziha’s mother) to sell her bracelet, I need money to buy shoes, boots, for Mahdi (a) because it is winter now.” And my father (Mawlana Shaykh Nazim) said, “Okay Sayyidee,” and he went to my mom and said, “Mawlana (Grandshaykh) is asking you to sell your gold bracelet. I need your gold to sell and buy boots for the army of Sayyidina al-Mahdi (a).” My mother did not say “no” and she did not say, “Where is Sayyidina al-Mahdi? Where is his army?” She did not ask him any question, she did not argue with him. She said, “Okay,” and she gave him her gold and he went and sold it and gave the money to Grandshaykh (q). And my mom, God bless her and bless Mawlana Shaykh `AbdAllah, and bless all of us inshaa-Allah, she didn’t ask, “Where is the army? Where is Sayyidina al-Mahdi? Where are the boots?”

Before she died, she was still repeating this story. She said, “Nobody asked any money for the boots, they are still in the army of Mahdi (a).” How is the mureed? You don’t ask; you don’t argue that.

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: So the belief is what is important. For the mureed to show interest is what is important, and not for the shaykh’s work to drop on the ground before...if the shaykh comes to you and says, “You get for me $1,000,” don’t argue, just get it because you don’t know what was the need for it and what was the purpose for it. She never asked, “Where are the boots?” Now this story might be seventy years ago or around sixty.

Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani: Around sixty.

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Where are the boots? Eh, they are...Mahdi (a) is not in need of boots, but he is in need of sincere mureeds and this is raising of maqaam, one’s station, when someone listens to the order without questioning it, and Allah (swt) will raise him higher. Might be something big will open for him when he obeys. Look at Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), may Allah give him long life, and I think we are the only ones whenever we mention his name we say, “May Allah give him long life.” If you look at other’s suhbahs, no one mentions it. Alhamdulillah Allah gave him at the end, like in his sixties and not before, Allah gave him wealth and he is spending it in the Way of Allah (swt), and anyone who comes to him, he gives. But he really submitted, I do not want to say suffered, but he submitted; he and his family, who were all young, submitted for many years and they didn’t have anything. And then Allah (swt) opened when he was in his seventies.

Hajjah Naziha Adil Kabbani: In the 1980’s.

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: So about fifteen or sixteen years ago, Allah gave and He is still giving! So you don’t know if an order comes and you fulfill it what Allah will give. It is not necessary to give it to you in dunya, might be it opens in Akhirah. So (a mureed) is right. What did he say? He asked me many times that he has something he wants to sell to give the money to us.

I said, “Wait until we need it, now we don’t need it.” Every time he asks me, “Do you need it? Should I sell?” I said, “No.”

And if he had sold it then, he would have gotten one-third of the price today as now it went very high. If he had sold it before, it would have been $100,000 or $200,000.

May Allah (swt) forgive us. Al-Fatihah.
