Suhbah at home of Dr. Raj Karim
A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

This is an empty cup, and an empty cup you can fill, while a full cup you cannot. The problem is that we come with our egos, and heavenly knowledge cannot be poured over an egoistic knowledge. Heavenly knowledge will not accept a dunya knowledge to blend with it, just as you don't like this water to be blended with dirtiness. You say, "No, I don't like it. I want pure, spring water." That is why heavenly knowledge cannot be given for speaking when one is filled with self-promotion and titles for himself or herself; then heavenly knowledge will stop. And anything mixed with dunya, Shaytan will come and jump in it. And Shaytan will jump in a worldly life style and quickly mix with the ego; that is why Shaytan will praise the ego. That is why most people, except awliyaaullah, are blending the light within themselves with dirty egotism and with Shaytan. They cannot give real knowledge, but it will become a spell on you and you will be attracted to the desire of Shaytan and that is to be an enemy of Allah (swt) because he asked that.
Wa idh qulna lil-mala`ikati ’sjudoo li-adama fasajadoo illa ibleesa qaala a-asjudu liman khalaqta teenan.
Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down unto Adam." They bowed down except Iblis. He said, "Shall I bow down
to one whom You created from clay?" (17:61)
When Almighty Allah ordered him to make sajdah to Adam (a), all the angels made sajdah except Iblees. He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire. You created me stronger, and that is why I am better than him. How am I going to make sajdah to someone that did not yet pray to You? I did not leave a handspan without making a sajdah! I was always in sajdah for You! How am I going to make sajdah to someone other than You? It's impossible." He didn't accept to make sajdah to anyone other than Allah (swt), but he forgot it was an order, so there is no more consideration. May Allah bless Grandshaykh (q) and bless their souls and give Mawlana Shaykh Nazim a long life! They said that Iblees was reluctant, that in his mind for one second in his life he thought, "How am I going to make sajdah to Adam?" That is shirk and unacceptable. But he forgot that it was an order from Almighty Allah to his Creation, Who was saying, "It doesn't matter, I give the order!"
Because when Iblees did not do the sajdah, was he thrown from Paradise or not? (Someone answers, "Yes.") Yes, but when? (Long after.) Why long after? Can Jannah accept disobedience or sin? Why was he not (thrown out immediately)? Can anyone give a proof, an explanation why he was left (to remain in Jannah), because Jannah cannot accept sin. He said to Allah (swt), "Give me long life. I am going to follow them to make them fall into sins, except the pious ones." Jannah cannot accept sins; that's why he left, saying, "I need an answer." Didn't Allah (swt) know that he went and came back? Can you enter a house without permission of the owner? Iblees was left because of a wisdom: Allah (swt) wanted to see if Adam (a) would eat the forbidden fruit or not. He (swt) knows, but He wanted Adam to show his incapacity, to show that we are in incapable of anything and without Allah's support we are lost.
وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَى مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاء مَّنثُورًا
Wa qadimna ila ma `amiloo min `amalin faja`alnahu haba'an manthoora
And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about. (25:23)
"We come to what they have done and We will throw it in the air as if it didn't exist." It means, "Don't think you are an important person. Come to Me with incapacity, thanking Me, knowing I am your Creator. Come to Me with complete submission."
Can we submit? No one can submit, except Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! (Mawlana stands.) He is the one who submitted, and Allah (swt) raised his name and took him to Mi`raj (ascension). (Mawlana sits.) He is "the Trusted One"; no one can be trusted except Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! Without repetition, on Judgment Day all the prophets come to Prophet (s) saying, "We need your intercession." They come pure, without sin, but Allah (swt) wants them to do that.
Sayyidina Adam (a) and his wife ate from the tree. Sayyidina Nuh (a) built a boat by Allah (swt)'s order, on a hill. If anyone built a boat on the hill, you will say he is crazy. So Allah Almighty said, "Build the boat on the hill." Sayyidina Nuh (a) didn't question, but his people said, "What did you do? You built it on the hill?" And they gave him all kinds of bad titles, especially those who thought they were higher than him, like those who now claims khilafah. We have a saying in Arabic that translates, "What you have done is as if it is thrown in the air." But Allah (swt) will protect those who are on haqq, even those who seem like idiots. Allah (swt) will defend them; He defends his awliyaa.
Man `adaa lee waliyyan faqad aadhantahu bi 'l-harb.
Whoever comes against a wali (friend) of Mine, I declare war on him. (Hadith Qudsee)
وَنَادَى نُوحٌ ابْنَهُ وَكَانَ فِي مَعْزِلٍ يَا بُنَيَّ ارْكَب مَّعَنَا وَلاَ تَكُن مَّعَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Wa naadaa Noohun abnahu wa kaana fee ma`zilin yaa bunayya arkab ma`anaa wa laa takun ma` al-kaafireen,
Nuh (a) called out to his son, "Come, my son, come on the boat."
قَالَ سَآوِي إِلَى جَبَلٍ يَعْصِمُنِي مِنَ الْمَاء قَالَ لاَ عَاصِمَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللّهِ
qaala sa'aawee 'ila’ jabalin ya`simunee mina al-maa’i,
He said, "O my father, I don't want your boat! I am going on the mountain. I will be safe from the water." (11:42-43)
wa naada’ noohun rabbahu faqaala rabbi 'inna abnee min ahlee wa inna wa`dak al-haqq wa anta ahkamu'l-haakimeen,
Noah called on his Lord, "O Allah, please, my son is from my family!"
Qaala yaa noohu innahu laysa min 'ahlika 'innahu `amalum ghayru saaliĥeen falaa tas'alni maa laysa laka bihi `ilmun 'innee 'a`izuka 'an takoona mina al-jaahileen.
He said: O Noah! Lo! he is not of thy household; lo! he is of evil conduct, so ask not of Me that whereof thou hast no knowledge. I admonish thee lest thou be among the ignorant.(11:45-46)
Allah said, 'O Nuh, don't talk to Me like that! He is doing something against My will! Don't be ignorant!'" These people who are against Mawlana Shaykh Nazim are liars! A judge says, if liars come into his courtroom throw them out! There is a court, awliyaa's court! Don't go too far or you will get a slap and you won't wake up from it! Sayyidina Nuh (a) was a prophet, but he had to keep quiet, because Allah threatened him. Those who are defending these people on websites, aren't you ashamed to put yourself with Mawlana Shaykh? Go put yourself in a cave; it is better for you. Don't declare something you don't own!
So Sayyidina Nuh (a) was shaking. Sayyidina Ibrahim (a) cut the neck of all the statues except the big one and told the polytheists, "Don't ask me (what happened to them), go ask the big one." Sayyidina Musa (a) accidentally killed a man when they were fighting; he pushed that one because he was against the family, and he died. When punishment comes we have to be very careful.
Prophets go to Prophet (s) because he is the pure one, to whom Allah Almighty never said except, "Yaa Habeebi (beloved)!" You can say about Prophet (s), Muhammadun Habeebullah, "Muhammad is Beloved of Allah," and you can say, Allah habeebu 'l-Muhammad, "Allah is Beloved of Muhammad." You can say, `Ibraheem Khaleelullah, "`Ibraheem is Allah's Friend." You cannot say, Allahu Khaleelu `Ibraheem, "Allah is Ibraheem's Friend." But you can say Muhammadun Habeebullah and Allah habeebu'l-Muhammad. (Mawlana stands and sits.) That high honor is only for Prophet (s), like when you say qul Huw Allahu Ahad. He said, Huwa, the One Who cannot be described, the One Who is Absolutely Unknown, Ahad. Because the one who comes out of the Hidden Treasure, Who cannot be known, is Huwa, described by Allah (swt) as the Unique, the Reality, His Uniqueness. Wahid is different appearances in His Creation. Ahad is different; it is the level of vision.
Huwal Habeebullah dhi turja shafa`atuhu
He is the Beloved, the only one whose intercession is sought
li kulli hawlim minal ahwali muktahimi.
For every catastrophe that faces you
Huwal Habeebullah means he is Allah's unique lover. I am summarizing; nabi turja shafa`atuhu, "His intercession is requested." li kulli hawlin minal ahwali muktahimi, from Imam Busayri's poem, Burdah Shareef. It means for every kind of problem, large or small, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is the only one who can intercede for everyone, li kullin hawlin. (Mawlana stands.) salli Allah habeebi Mustafa! (Mawlana sits.) So they go to him for intercession.
About Sayyidina Adam (a), Allah (swt) wants the carrier for the light of Prophet (s) to be in the forehead, (to indicate) Maqaam al-Mahmood. Iblees wanted that maqaam to be for him. It was never for him, it was for Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! (Mawlana stands.) alfu salaat, alfu salaam. Mawlana sits.) So why was Iblees going to make sajdah for something he will never get? It was a sajdah for respect, not worship. He didn't do it, so Allah (swt) left him out of Paradise until a snake let him in. Can they let him in without Allah's permission? Hikmatu 'l-azaliyyah wa 'l-abadiyyah, it is from Allah's Pre-eternal and everlasting wisdom, that human beings will live on this planet; it is Allah's will. So Ibless left, but he didn't know he is going to whisper in the ear of Adam (a) to eat from the tree of Eternal Life. And (Ummina Hawwa, our mother Eve) said, "It's impossible that anyone can swear on the Name of Allah and lie." So they ate; they believed Iblees.
If anyone who (boasts of a station or level or title) is filled with devils and they are fooling their followers. Even if you are a wali, keep it to yourself; it is not necessary to claim it, to broadcast it, to say this and that. Then they have to answer you back. Remember, Man `adaa lee waliyyan faqad aadhantahu bil-harb. "Whoever comes against a friend of Mine, I declare war on him." And the truth will be coming inshaa-Allah. Who wants to be khalifah, no problem, go be khalifah! For Sayyidina Adam (a), Sayyidina Ibrahim (a), Sayyidina `Isa (a), Sayyidina Musa (a), Allah (swt) said, "Go to Muhammad (s)." It means, "Don't claim your title, go ask for intercession, because one sin is enough for Me." Don't claim khalifah. Do you know what it means in Arabic? Is there any possibility that anyone can say, "I am khalifah." No, the Arabic language doesn't allow you.
When Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) became khalifah, did Prophet (s) assign him as khalifah? No, but he gave a sign for people to know, saying, "Yaa Abu Bakr, go lead the prayer when I am sick." So that indicates that you have to consult, as that was a consultation. We are not bringing this from our own ego; it is history, it is a fact. So what happened with that consultation? Some said, "We have the immigrants from our community." The Ansar (residents of Madinah) said, "No, we should have khilafah from our people because we were with the Prophet (s)." And some said (it should go to Prophet's) son-in-law. Everyone gave a reason why they had to be khalifah; three were nominated, one got it. What does that mean? For those who say I am wrong, give me an explanation, with an answer for what you are questioning. There were three parties, correct? One got it. What does that mean? Give me an explanation.
It is not voting for the one that has to get it. They voted; this one said this, and that one said that. It is like in Parliament, when there is an uncontested candidate. So the three have been nominated, the other is uncontested, and they go into negotiation. What does that mean? It means that democracy was in Islam in that period. (...) So Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) was from the muhajiroon (immigrants), and before he died he nominated Sayyidina `Umar (r) and asked to give him baya`, but it doesn't mean the people didn't vote. No, they voted and he took it.
For example, there are two kinds of voting today: voting from the people and voting from Parliament. Ask the people, ask Parliament. So in the case of the muhajiroon from the family of the Prophet (s), although I'm not going to use technical words, all of them were represented by two or three or four people in a Shurah Council. This means you have to discuss it, like when they elect a president. So in this manner they elected three: one from the Ansar and one from Quraysh, and Sayyidina `Ali as the member of the Prophet's Family. And they voted for Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) by council. I am not against this, but don't cut and paste my speech! Don't explain a situation! You are dumb. And you have to know before you can speak, you have to be intelligent, to grow up to a level of understanding. We don't want gypsies in tariqah, coming from nowhere, becoming khalifahs. I will give one wisdom, because Mawlana Shaykh likes to spread the message to people. In London you have maybe fifteen different groups doing dhikr, but they don't come together because Mawlana likes to spread the message. Be careful; I'm saying this to me and to you.
So Adam (a) ate from the tree. But in Allah's wisdom, He left Iblees there because he gave him something that Adam (a) believed.
Today there are charlatans. I showed you today the message from London, (host answers, "Yes.") of charlatan people making themselves khalifah. I am not going to say the story, but it is a very disturbing story. I am not accusing anyone, but it is a very disturbing story in UK. It happened up north, someone calling himself khalifah was harassing women. I say this is a shaytan; don't speak with him anymore. This is against Shari`ah. He is threatening someone with jinn. So when you see and hear these things you get completely frustrated, because they are deviants making sects, and they have to be exposed. These are the terrorists of tariqah! They are different (from us); they lost the way and they are becoming charlatans.
Ibn Taymiyyah had two books that I am not against, I am accepting .......... Abdul Qadir al-Jilani, he accepted. He took tariqah from Abdul Qadir al-Jilani (q) and this is documented Princeton University, in a manuscript from six generations back, six shaykhs to Ibn Taymiyyah. He wore the cloak even. They can go read it; it is there, the book named ............ He said there are some who are deviant, charlatans who brainwash the minds of people. They are stuck and you can see it in their faces. What can you see in Iblees' face? He is still a believer; he accepts Allah (swt) as the Creator, he says, "Give me until this dunya is finished, and I will try to deviate them." Allah (swt) agrees, to see who will believe and who will not believe, who is on haqq and who is on baatil.
You have to be careful! Go back to the time of Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r). After his time, khalifah was by appointment, but during his life it was by nomination. It was not by Prophet (s), it was by his sign (indication). But Sayyidina `Umar (r) was nominated and Sayyidina `Uthman (was appointed?) ... After Karbala all this was being done. Sayyidina Hassan (r) wanted to stop the bloodshed. He said, "I am putting my hand, accepting Mu`awiya as the khalifah." This was to stop the dispute. He said, "I am accepting."
There is one Ameer al-Mu'mineen, the others are the waali, mayor or governor of an area, and `aamil, the laborer. Ameer al-Mu'mineen may have many different mayors in an area as his waali or `aamil, who represent a specific jurisdiction and report to Ameer al-Mu'mineen and keep him informed of that specific area. The senior representative is a governor, and below him is the mayor, and below him is the commissioner, whom the mayor can change any time he likes. When Sayyidina `Umar (r) was in Madinah, as soon as he became Ameer al-Mu'mineen, fired the head of his army, Sayyidina Khalid ibn Waleed (r), who knew all the tactics! He replaced him with the younger one, Sayyidina Saariyah (r), who said, "I am under the order of Amir al Mu'mineen." He didn't listen to any discussion, and at 25 years of age he became the leader of the army.
No one can call himself khalifah. If Mawlana uses that word, they are `aamil, workers who represent him. He can change any of them and bring someone else. But he is using them, giving them a title. Three or four weeks ago, I was surprised, he gave the title to someone in Beirut; he gave a seal and signed it, saying, "As you like." That person was shaking because he didn't ask for it.
Mawlana asked him, "Where are you doing dhikr?"
He said, "In my home."
Mawlana said, "No, go to the university to bring the young people, because old ones cannot bring."
Don't claim things you don't know. We know these tricks of individuals who make an empire, all the tricks on the Internet. We are not stupid! We have been with Mawlana for 50 years. You are mistaken, Mawlana Shaykh did not go to Cyprus until 1980. Every year he spent nine months in Damascus, three months in Cyprus, and he did not buy his house until 1980, and you claim you were there. (...) This is only for reminding, to myself also. Take it like a sport; if you lose it is okay. Have a sporting spirit, then it's okay if you like or don't like, if you win or you lose.
You cut and paste, like what I said in Singapore. I sent a message out of courtesy, out of love, because Grandshaykh (q) always recited that ayah, "Forgive and make peace." I said on the Internet, "If I did wrong, I apologize." They cut and pasted those words, and deleted 'I apologize.' Who comes, comes; who goes, goes. But let us learn the meaning of Shari'ah and tariqah. I am not making myself a teacher, but reading from Grandshaykh's (q) notes.
May Allah (swt) forgive us and bless us and support us.
Sufilive Is Being Attacked by Shaytan
I don't want to open the subject of Sufilive, but everyday they are wanting us to drop it, and are making a hard time for us. I don't want to complain to Mawlana Shaykh. Even he said, "Tell me about the survey (on Sufilive, about Lefke broadcast times)," because he wants the live broadcast to be available to the maximum number of people. In every live broadcast from Lefke we currently get up to 700 people watching live, and later the OnDemand video viewership jumps in 24 hours to 8-10,000 people! So I hope those listening can understand the frustrations, because some days they try to disconnect the wires! Three times today during the Jumu`ah live broadcast they disconnected the Sufilive transmission when Shaykh Adnan was giving the Jumu`ah khutbah. Three times they disconnected and our people reconnected!
There are some shaytans there. I previously mentioned the names of some. Please show courtesy to Mawlana Shaykh, to make things work well! Don't give a hard time to our people who are giving hard work and who give their life. Already Iftikhar gave us one year in Cyprus, and now Muhammad Khair replaced him as cameraman, and Abdul Razzaq, and they are giving them hell! People don't know how much the cameramen are suffering, not only them but our staff in America. It is a frustrating situation. They are trying to block us daily from broadcasting. Mawlana Shaykh speaks in English, and our people are transcribing in English and also translating live into 12 languages simultaneously. Also in Bahasa, you have someone here doing that. Then that is edited and it becomes a book. Let's say every suhbah of Mawlana Shaykh is 5-6 pages long. Till today we have more than 300 suhbahs since we started the daily broadcast last June. So 1500 pages are already edited, ready to go to print, in English and in other languages. So let's say we completed twenty-thousand pages of Mawlana Shaykh in 12 languages!
We are providing that. It is a lot of work, especially in America where it is 12 hrs different time change from here. And those people are not taking money, working hard, giving their life for it, and 3 or 4 people are blocking us! May Allah (swt) guide them! (Those who are blocking us) are saying it is competition (which is allowed in Islam). I don't understand, what competition? When they broadcast they have 20 or 30 viewers. (I am saying this to them.) Many people are fed up with you! Don't let people to curse you, speaking about you bad. Some people are supporting you, we know.
And we ask long life for Mawlana Shaykh! There is no khalifah! May Allah give Mawlana long life, because after him there is no khalifah! Shaykh Sharafuddin (q) made a will about Grandshaykh (q) (to succeed him). This is not something you take for granted!
May Allah (swt) forgive us and forgive you. Don't think this is an attack, no, I only wish good for you. Me and my brother, Shaykh Adnan, have permission from Grandshaykh (q). He said, "I shout at people and I get angry for people, not at their souls, but for the reflections of their egos. I carry their sins and I give them hasanat because they are my followers. I don't shout at them, because they are human beings. I shout at their egos. I only take all their sins and bad characters from them. Why I sent a 72-caliber cannon (the biggest at that time)?" I used to shout, and Grandshaykh said, "I give that secret to Shaykh Nazim and you have that and your brother has that." So I shout for this reason (to take away bad character).
It used to be that Grandshaykh (q) didn't begin his speaking until I am there; he used to speak Daghestani language which I don't understand, but I understand Turkish. When he wanted to speak he called me. Like a fountain he spoke and I could transcribe every word, I wrote so quickly. If Grandshaykh wanted to send a letter, even secret letters in his private life--and this is first time I have said this--he told me to write, to different important places. And when he got money, he gave it to me to count and change into Syrian currency and keep for him. And the same thing with Mawlana Shaykh, go ask him!
One time, I was sweating and sick, and Grandshaykh told me, "Yaa waladi, O my son! You are Ka'ab al-Akbar of this time." Ka'ab al-Akbar (r) was for Prophet (s); I am not going to translate, he (a mureed) can say.
Murid: [Ka'ab al-Akbar (r) was the greatest 'alim of the Muslims. The Companions (r) used to ask him about Rasoolullah as he was Tabi`een and they asked his Ka'ab al-Akbar (r) was recording, secretly recording at time of Prophet (s), and he never missed anything.]
So Grandshaykh said, "You are Ka'ab al-Akbar!" I am not trying to make myself anything, and may Allah protect me from myself, but this is important knowledge that we are trying to spread east and west, Mawlana's knowledge, and it is blocked!
May Allah forgive us all.
Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
