Make Your Shaytan Become Muslim

Shaykh Nour Mohamad Kabbani

1 February 2025 Dallas, TX USA

Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. `Azeez Allah.

Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Kareem Allah.

Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. SubhaanAllah.

Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Allah, Allah. Sultan Allah.

Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`ala wa barakaatuh.

Mashaa-Allah. The love of Rasoolullah (s) is always in the hearts. There is no disappearance of that love from the hearts of mu’mins and mu’minas. May Allah (swt) always allow that heart to flourish in our generations to come, to go ahead the hearts of our offspring.

We are Ahlu ‘t-turuq, so we can speak a little bit about spirituality in our center. It is mentioned in the books of Awliyaullah that Jahannam asked Allah (swt), “If I don’t obey You, would You punish me by something stronger than me? Would You punish me by anything that is harsher than me?”

He said, “Yes. I will unleash on you My Grand Fire.”

It said, “Yaa Rabbee, is there any fire greater than me?”

Yes, “The fire of My Love that resides in the hearts of My mu’min servants.”

You have a spark, not too much. If you have too much of it, you wouldn’t be around. They asked Sayyidina Abu Yazid al-Bistami (q), “Who are those that the love of Allah (swt) and the love of Rasoolullah (s) is in their hearts?”

“They are those who when people look for them in dunya, they don’t find them. When Malik, the guardian of Jahannam looks for them in Jahannam, he doesn’t find them. When Ridwan, the guardian of Jannah looks for them in Paradise, he doesn’t find them.”

“Where are they?”

“They are in the Seat of Truth in the Presence of the Most Powerful King.”

Have you ever heard that ayah? They are not in paradises or fires or dunya, rather they are in the Seat of Truth in the Presence of the Almighty King.” That is in Surat al-Qamar. Asta’eedhu billah:

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ

Inna ‘l-muttaqeena fee JannaAtin wa naharin fee maqa`di sidqin `inda Maleekin Muqtadir.

As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers. In an Assembly of Truth, in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:54-55)

I will unleash on you My Grand Fire, the fire of My Muhabbah that I have made to reside in the hearts of My mu’min servants. You wouldn’t find them in Jannah, Naar or in dunya. They are with Me in My Presence fee Maqadi ‘s-Sidq, the Seat of Truth.

I don’t know who recited the verse from Qasidatu ‘l-Burdah but as-sidqu fil-ghaar wa’s-siddiqee lam yuraw. The Truth is in the ghaar, Rasoolullah (s). Wa siddiq, and the one who believed the Truth, lam yuraw, they were not seen. When the kafir looked for them, he couldn’t find them. They were not there. They were not visible. What is sidq? Are you sincere in what you are seeking? What are you seeking? I can ask a general question. What do you seek? Where do we start?

“First I’m seeking a job in such and such a university. I’m seeking a good pay check from such and such an employer. I’m seeking a good review from my boss. I’m seeking this and that.” What else do you have to seek? As-sidqu fi ’t-talab. If you are seeking Allah (swt), you have to be like that one: not in dunya, not in Jannah and not in Naar. He is only seeking Allah (swt), fee Maqadi ‘s-Sidqin. Muhabbatu ‘Llah, Muhabbatu ‘r-Rasool, will lead you to that sincerity where you erase from your heart everything else. You say, “Yaa Rabbee, my heart is only to carry Your Love.”

Can you do it? How many seductions are out there? How many things that seduce your heart away from Allah (swt), men and women? Test yourself. Do you turn your head right away? “I like that. I like that one too. I want that. I want that one too.” Do you do that? That means your heart is not for Allah (swt). The people of tariqah have tafreed. Fard means “single.” They have singled their hearts for Allah (swt). No matter how much they look at the beauty of people, they don’t care. No matter how beautiful that item can be, they don’t care. No matter how attractive that object is, they don’t care. Their hearts are singularly for the love of Allah (swt).

Awliyaullah have said, the baa carries one dot and that dot is one love. That’s how, Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem starts. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem starts with a letter that indicates to you that you can only carry one love, you can only be with one love. There are not two dots. That love is your step up and that’s why it’s under the baa. It is your step up to Ismu ‘Llah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem. That alif is hidden. What is “name” in Arabic? `Ism. There is an alif. How do you say, “By the Name”? Bi `ismi.

What happened to the alif in, Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem? It’s hiding. Awliyaullah have said that when you say, Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, that’s how Creation started, by the Name of Allah (swt). That alif that indicates the Name of Allah (swt) is moving with the Names but it is hidden from your eyes. That baa is visible by the eyes of your heart. That love that you carry, that you depend on to move to that alif that is hidden, Bismillaah. One love. Tafreed. Tawheed. Tajreed. These are concepts that are taught by Awliyaullah, but they will test you to see if you are truly for Allah (swt) or not. That is sidq. Are you truly seeking Allah (swt)?

One Waliyullah went out of the masjid after Jumu`ah and started watching the people coming out of the masjid. He said, “They are the stuffing of Jannah. They’re all going to go to Jannah. But there are others sitting in the Presence of Allah (swt).” There is Maqamu ‘l-Mujalasa, the rank of those seated in the Presence of the Most Powerful King. Try to be from them, but you have to have that sidq at-talab. “I am only seeking You, yaa Rabbee.” That’s why they call them al-fuqara al-julasaullah as Sayyidina Imam al-Ghazali has narrated in his book, Al-Ihya. It is a Hadith of Rasoolullah (s). Al-fuqara, those who are in poverty. They don’t own anything from dunya. They have dropped everything from dunya. They wanted to be seated in the Presence of Allah (swt). They are also called al-fuqara al-ma`rifah.

The two brothers were singing about Ahlu ‘s-safa, the people of purity of heart. That means they have purified their hearts and sit with the people of ma`rifah. This special group in the Presence of Allah (swt) are those who are in need and are searching and seeking to know their Lord more. They are only concerned about knowing Allah (swt). They are not concerned about anything in this dunya. They are not interested in anything that this dunya has to offer. They live their lives to know Allah (swt). That is Ahlu ‘l-ma`rifah, the knowledge of Allah (swt), to know about their Lord. Their only concern is to know about their Lord. That is sidq. They are not concerned about anything else. Allah (swt) says in the Holy Qur’an: Fa’lam anahu. There is no god but Allah (swt).

Their `ilm starts there. They are not concerned about dunya. They want to know, what is, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah. What is Allah (swt)? Because the fuqara are needy of ma`rifah, Allah (swt) will seat them with Him. They are not after the pleasures of Jannah like you and I are. They don’t even know who Shaytan is because they don’t even care about Shaytan. Who is Shaytan? They are not afraid of his whispering. He does not approach them. They are Nour. Shaytan does not approach Nour. Naar does not approach Light. They are not concerned about that. He doesn’t approach them.

Have you ever heard about Sayyidina Umar (r) and Shaytan? Does Shaytan approach him? That is evidence from the Sunnah Shaytan does not approach Awliyaullah, the true ones who have only sought and run after knowledge of Allah (swt). He will burn from their Noor. He is afraid that he will become Muslim too. Have you ever heard Shaytan become Muslim? The Shaytan of Rasoolullah (s) became Muslim. Rasoolullah (s) said, “My shaytan became Muslim.” He was afraid of Hadrat `Umar (r) so he would run away. Your job is to make your shaytan a Muslim.

Those who are poor, who want nothing to start with, are sitting in the Presence of Allah (swt) and He is giving them Knowledge. He is showing them more and more from His Divine Presence. Be like them. Where do you start? Sidq, safa, sabr. That’s where the word “Sufi” comes from. We talked about it in the Mawlid. We remembered the biryani. What Sufi? We don’t remember any of that. We remember you saying some words, “Blah, blah, blah. Yada, yada, yada.” When the biryani came, we remembered that part. It was a good dinner.

“Sufi” starts with saad. Hadrat Ali (r) said, the Sufi has taken on the nine characteristics that these letters begin with. You have to have sidq, “Yaa Rabbee. I truly only want You.” To want Allah (swt), you have to be patient from everything else. Sabr. I am going to be patient from all of my desires and everything that entices me in this world and makes me run after it. I am going to be patient. What happens then? Safa. when you drop the love of dunya from your heart, your heart clears, that fog clears, the smoke clears. You become from ahlu ‘s-safa.

They were singing about safa. All that Ahlu ‘s-safa say is, “Allah (swt), Allah (swt).” They don’t say, “Google. Google. Wifey. Wifey. Hubby. Hubby.” No sweets for them. They don’t care. Those who have cleared their hearts from dunya and whatever is in it, from all that seduction of dunya. Fa laa taghuranakumu ‘l-hayaatu ‘d-dunya.

O men! Certainly the promise of Allah is true. Let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah. (Surah Fatir, 35:5)

Allah (swt) is ordering you. Don’t allow dunya to seduce you. Don’t allow dunya to cheat you. Don’t allow dunya to deceive you. Don’t allow dunya to mislead you. Also don’t allow the proud one, the arrogant one, the one who admires himself to deceive you. That is Shaytan. Don’t allow dunya or Shaytan to deceive you from being sadiq, truthful. Sidq, sabr and safa. You will have clarity.

When the wants leave your mind, your mind becomes clear. What is after that? “Sufi” is saad, waw. What is the waw? Wud means muhabbah. The one who was singing mentioned mawaarid, the springs of water that you go to drink, when you travel somewhere to reach fountains of water, fountains of life. He was talking about mawaarid, that is waw. Wurood is the act of reaching the fountains and the springs of water, of life.

When you clear your heart from dunya, you reach the fountain of Eternal Life. After that, wafa. Allah (swt) will keep His promise to you.

Yaa Bani Isra’eela ’dkuroo ni`matee allatee an`amtu `alaykum wa awfoo bi `ahdee ufi bi `ahdikum wa iyyaya farhaboon.

O Children of Israel! call to mind the (special) favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfil your covenant with Me as I fulfil My Covenant with you, and fear none but Me. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:40)

If you keep your promise, I will keep My Promise. You have kept your promise. You said, “Yaa Rabbee. I kept my promise and I am Your servant coming to you. I’m not the servant of dunya, Shaytan or hawa. I am Your servant. When you have kept your promise to Allah (swt), He will keep His Promise as Ruboobiyya, the Rabb. He will take you in His Presence in that Holy Seat.

Then when He puts you in His Presence, the faa starts. What is the faa? The fard, faqr, fana. You are in need of Him. When you are in His Presence, you are poor. For His Knowledge. You are fard, single, that you have no room in your heart for any other love. No matter how much they look at you, I have no room in my heart for you. I’m talking about your ego, your desires. No matter how much they prod you, I have no room in my heart for your prodding or seduction. I don’t want you. What happens in His Presence? You reach Fana. What is Fana? When you become one with the Ocean. You are a drop. Mashaa-Allah, Ali Elsayed used to sing, “I am a raindrop.” You remember that song?

The rain comes from clouds as drops. Where do they end? In the ocean? Where are the raindrops? They are in the ocean. But if you have the power to single out every raindrop, you will see millions and trillions of raindrops in the ocean. Just imagine one big ocean and you’re able to isolate every raindrop because every raindrop is unique. No other raindrop looks like the other raindrop just like no leaf looks like another leaf or no tree looks like another tree. Allah (swt) created everyone wahid, one. You can say, “Yaa Rabbee. You are also One.”

If you can, imagine each water drop in the ocean. That is Al-Asma wa ‘s-Sifaat, Allah (swt) Holy Names and Attributes. That is Maqamu ‘l-Wahidiyya. Allah (swt)’s Attributes are One and Unique but they all disappear in Ahadiyya. All of these drops are unique by themselves but if you look at the whole ocean, they are one. That is Fana. When you enter that ocean, you become one with the ocean. You disappear but you exist. You’re in there but where are you? He knows. When He wants to get you out, when you want to be known and seen, Allah (swt) puts you in Maqamu ‘l-Baqa where you can see. Fana, you disappear. Baqa, you are singled out as these water drops can be. Allah (swt) has the power to make the whole ocean as drops of water that you can see. That is Baqa. Fana is the end.

Our Way starts with that. We are the people who are not seeking other than Allah (swt). Be from Ahlu ‘s-sidq, truthfulness and sincerity in what they want. Allah (swt) will put you in the seat of sidq, that Maq`adi ‘s-Sidq. I will stop here but sum it up as I heard from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, my grandfather. May Allah (swt) raise him higher and higher and allow his energy, his love and his power to come through us.

On the Day of Judgement there will be a mu’min servant and Allah (swt) will tell His angels, “ O My angels. Take My `abd.” If Allah (swt) calls you “`abd, My servant,” it is the best. Abu Yazid al-Bistami (q) said, “I don’t care what happens on Yaumu ‘l-Qiyamah. I am only waiting to hear Allah (swt) calling me, ‘Yaa `abdee Come.’ That ecstacy will erase every difficulty on the Day of Judgement, just to hear Him call me.”

He will say, “Take My servant to Jannah.” The angels come and escort the mu’min servant to Jannah. A few minutes later, this servant will come out. “What’s wrong? Take him to Jannah.”

They take him to Jannah again. He comes out a third time. Allah (swt) will say, “Chain him up and drag him into Jannah.” He will come out again. They will ask him, “Why are you not in Jannah?” He will say, “Yaa Rabbee. Give Jannah to the one who wants Jannah. I did not want Jannah. I wanted You.” That is sidq. “I am not worshiping You, I’m not approaching You, I am not asking from You so You can put me in Jannah with hooru ‘l-`ayn, the wine and the rivers of honey. I don’t want any of that. Give it to the one who wants it. I wanted You.”

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) explained that a beam of light will come down, pick him up and take him not to Jannah, not to Naar, not to dunya, nowhere except in the Presence of the Most Powerful King. He will disappear into that Royal Court where they will be seated, of course with Rasoolullah (s) and Awliya and Anbiya. He will be seated there with them. He wanted that and he was sincere in that so he will go there. Allah (swt) tries His servant by showing him beautiful things. He wants to see if His servant moves his eyes. Do his or her eyes waver?

In case you don’t know, Isra and Mi`raj was a test for Rasoolullah (s). He showed him every beautiful thing. He showed him the Sidra, Jinan and Allah (swt) says:

مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ

Maa zaagh al-basaru wa maa taghaa.

(His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! (Surat an-Najm, 53:17)

His eyes did not go anywhere. He wanted Me and that’s why he came to aw adnaa. He reached Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa. I showed him every beautiful thing. On Sidra, Allah (swt) was descending colors as Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) explained. Every moment 70,000 different colors, noor that can dazzle you. Nothing can describe the beauty coming to that Sidra. Allah (swt) said, the Sidra was being covered by the covers. He didn’t even explain because there are no words to describe the beauty that was coming down. Rasoolullah (s) did not look. His eyes did not go there. He was testing him.

He said, “Yaa Rabbee. I want You. I am not interested in Sidra. I am not interested in Jannah. I am not interested in this and that.”

“What do you want?”

“You.”

“Come. Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa. Come to My Presence.”

Our Way is to find that. Our is not to go right and left. “I like this. I like that. I want to order this. I want to travel here. I want to do this.” Mu’min, make your eyes straight. That is why He tells them, “Lower your gaze.” It’s not only for the men and women to lower their gaze to each other but everything. Also lower your gaze from the faults of others. Don’t search for the faults of others. Don’t see the faults of others. Look how deeper they get. Where do your eyes go? Everywhere.

Are you sadiq or not? Get that attribute of sidq so you can be as-sidqu fil ghar wa siddiq. You are following Rasoolullah (s). First you have to follow his Sahaabah. See what they have done. Shaytan ran away from Sayyidina Umar (r). Is Shaytan running away from you? No. He is glued with Gorilla glue. If you want to take him off, your skin will tear off. Me too, but alhamdulillah, I can’t see beyond Shamim bhai because I need glasses. That’s why I don’t wear glasses because I don’t want to see anything else. The first two rows, alhamdulillah, that’s it. Only when I’m driving. We are on camera. No, I put my glasses on when I’m driving so I can see the signs and the speed limits like Sayyid bhai. I see him wear glasses only when he’s driving. He’s on the right path.

Saad, waw, faa: Sidq. Sabr. Safa. Al-wud, wurood, wafaa. Fakhree, fard, Fanaa. That is how Sayyidina Ali (r) summarized our Way. Start with sidq and you will end in Fana. That beam of light will come and you will disappear from among creation, khalq. Inshaa-Allah, we can reach to where our beloved, Rasoolullah (s) reached. Inshaa-Allah, we can reach where our beloved Sahaabah (r) have reached. Inshaa-Allah we can reach where Ahlu ‘l-Bayt, Awliyaullah, Anbiya have reached in that Maqad ‘s-Sidq, the Seat of Truth in the Presence of the Almighty King, the Most Powerful King, Allah (swt), Maleekin Muqtadir. Ameen. From Him is success. Inshaa-Allah, we can be from the successful ones.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
