Allah Almighty says, "They may be thankful." Provision is only from your Lord, they are asking it from other doors. "But they turned away (from obeying Allah)." They turned away, you understand?
But they turned away...so We sent on them a flood released from a dam and We converted their two gardens into gardens producing bitter fruit and tamarisks, and some few lote-trees. (Surah Saba, 34:16)
This is Verse 16 from Surat Saba:
Like this we punished them because they were unbelievers and never did We punish in such a way except those who are unbelievers. And We placed between them and the towns which We had blessed, towns easy to be seen, and We made the stages of journey between them easy. Travel in them safely both by night and day. But they said, our Lord! Make the stages between our journey longer. And they wronged themselves, so We made them as stories and We dispersed them all totally. (34:17-19).
All of them are dispersed, no one can bring them together, there is no possibility to put them back together. “Torn,” what does it mean? “We made them disarrayed, all messed up, because of their bad manners and unbelief and because they went too far beyond their limit.”
And We dispersed them all, totally. Verily, in this are indeed signs for every patient grateful person. (34:19)
Every verse is in its place. The mirror is set here, but reflects there.
So We made them as tales and We dispersed them all, totally. Verily, in this are indeed signs for every patient grateful person and, indeed, the devil did prove true his thought about them and they all followed him, except a group of true believers. (34:19,20)
The majority of people follow Shaytan, Iblees.
...Except a group of true believers, and he (the devil) had no authority over them except that We would know who believes in the Hereafter from him who is in doubt about it. (34:20,21)
A test for the believers: do they believe in the Hereafter or not? They became those who do not believe in the Hereafter. This is a test for those who do not believe in the Hereafter; who will show his belief in the Hereafter?
And your Lord is Hafiz (Guardian) over everything. (34:21)
Our Lord (swt) is Hafiz over all things.
Say (O Muhammad), “Call upon those you claim (as deities) besides Allah!” (34:22)
Call your leaders--those who claim, those in whom you believe--to be able to correct your situation and give you peace here and in the Hereafter. Run after them and let them (unbelievers) correct your situation as not one will be able to do that! All the leaders want something from you. They melted, they dissolved; each one became like them and they have nothing! Each one is accusing the other and points to the bad things of the other, they deny each other.
They possess not an atom's weight, either in the Heavens or on the Earth, nor have they any share in either, nor is there from Him any supporters from among them. (34:22)
Sadaq Allahu ‘l-`Azheem. May Allah (swt) forgive us.
