19 December 2014 Selangor, Malaysia
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta` ala wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi rabbi l-`alameen, alhamdulillahi yaa rabbanaa nahmaduka wa nusallee `alaa habeebika ‘l-mustafaa sayyidinaa wa nabbiyyinaa muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een wa nashkuruka shukran laa bidaayata lahu wa laa nihaayata lah, haythu qulta wa la-in shakartum la-azeedannakum, fa shukran laka yaa Allah.
Brothers and sisters. I cannot stand in this position too many times to remember the legacy of Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim (q), to remember know how much he has suffered in his life; I don't think anyone suffered as he suffered [Mawlana weeps.] He has been tortured many times in Cyprus, in Turkey, in Sham, Damascus; there are too many issues to discuss, but I will summarize as much as I can.
Just now I received a message and I don't know if this is correct, but that message came through a mureed of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and was to someone in this room, telling me that they announced in the masjid that the government has removed the ban on the Naqshbandi Tariqah in Selangor, how far it is correct I don’t know, but if it is correct it is a sign that if you close a door Allah opens a hundred doors, and if you close a window Allah opens a hundred windows! I call on Burhanuddin to come here. Is he here? Come here. So what have you told me?
Burhanuddin: Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. We have today a piece of good news for our Tariqah: for Selangor State the Naqshbandi Tariqah has been cleared of the word “deviation”, so we are free to move anywhere. This was announced today in the mosque. [Takbeer!]
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: I think this news is enough to end the program. [No!]
I had the privilege to even see how he sleeps. Once we were invited to a place and they gave us a room in which there was one bed and the floor. Mawlana (q) looked at me and I was preparing the floor, and he said, “What are you doing?”
I said, “Mawlana, I am preparing the floor to sleep on it.”
He said, “No, you sit with me on the bed.”
And it was for one person that bed, and I still remember the pain on my right side that I was lying with him on the bed, he on one side and I on the other side. And I was unable to move all night, left or right, as I was worried that he would wake up and shout at me. And any movement you make for sure he will open his eyes, because I am seeing the beads in his hands--he never left the beads from his hand except when he wanted to refresh his wudu. I knew Mawlana Shaykh (q) since my childhood and he likes everything perfect, to have adab with Allah, to have discipline with Allah, especially when people are not seeing you, when you are by yourself to show adab with Allah because He is seeing you.
Establishing Mawlana Shaykh’s Presence in America
I will go through some stories, but I will mention this before.
One time I asked, “Mawlana, I like to do for you something.”
He said, “No need,” so I left it.
At that time, I received a letter from the American Embassy in Damascus--the American Embassy in Lebanon was closed because of the war, but the American Embassy in Damascus was open--and they sent me a letter stating, “You and your family have been selected from 30 million applicants to go to the United States.” I had never thought about going there and even then I thought, “What am I going to do there?” So I called Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and asked him.
He said, “Since you did not ask for it, it’s coming from Allah (swt) for you and I want you to go.”
I said, “Mawlana, I have nothing to take.” At that time everything was tied up because of the war in Lebanon, you could not take anything.
He said, “Allah Kareem.”
So I went to America with four suitcases of clothes and we rented a one-bedroom apartment and we were four people, very small, near New York. The first Jumu`ah there, I had to go to a masjid and in that masjid there was a blind man on the minbar giving his Friday khutbah, speaking bad about Prophet (s) and speaking bad about the Mawlid, saying it is not accepted Islamically, and the garbage they speak about, so I called Mawlana (q) and said, “You are sending me to something that I don't believe in.”
Mawlana said, “No, I want you to debate the Wahabis and the Salafis.”
In America in 1990, no one had heard about Wahabis and Salafisa at that time. We were the only people from the Muslim community that had Internet, and CNN was linking to our As-Sunnah Foundation of America site, Sunnah.org, where most of Islam, Fiqh and Hadith were on that site, and CNN was linking with us. And out of the blue one person came from Rabitah, as Saudia Arabia sent him to New York to debate me and his name is Muhammad `Adly from Egypt, and we debated him on Tasawwuf, on the Internet, and alhamdulillah, with Mawlana's baraka we managed to shut him down and we won!

Launching an International Islamic Conference with
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim as Keynote Speaker
Then we began, I am not going to speak of my achievements, but we began to work with the people there by Mawlana's (q) direction to put a conference.
I called Mawlana (q) and said, “I am thinking of putting a conference.”
He asked, “What kind of conference?”
I said, “A conference that deals with issues around the world that Muslims are concerned about and are important for everyone in the United States and around the world, regarding peace and tolerance,” as from that time we felt there is a problem.
Mawlana said, “Yes, but I want it perfect, I want it to be high.”
I said, “What is ‘high’?”
He said, “The highest possible perfection.”
I had nothing. To put a conference is not an easy job. I think you worked hard to put this program tonight, and I thank you for it, especially as a tribute to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, may Allah bless his soul, but I thought, “How to put this conference and Mawlana wants it to be perfect?” At that time I had established many, many mureeds who were working with me--professionals, engineers, doctors, lawyers--and we sat and discussed how to put it, and everyone said, “It is impossible as it is going to cost lot of money.”
I said, “Mawlana said make it high and I am going to make it high.” I called Hanim (in Malaysia),despite what people think about her, and I said, “Hanim, I need your help. Can you get me the seed money?” And she arranged, may Allah give them happiness, US $50,000 and so we began to look for a hotel for that conference, not a hall. I had the $50,000 but I didn’t want to touch it, so that was in Washington, and after going around the whole area I went to the Omni Shoreham Hotel. You were with me, Zul Qarnain? [Yes.] We looked and looked and we went all over Washington and were not able to get anyone to accept our terms except one, the last hotel.
Mureeds said we were finished and I said, “There is still one over there,” and they said, “Oh that one (Omni Shoreham) is very expensive!”
I said, “That’s okay, we’ll go there.”
So we went to the Omni Shoreham Hotel, one of the famous hotels in Washington and Los Angeles, and we met the sales manager and we were calling, “Yaa Sayyidee, madad!” calling on Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) and calling for madad from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), and I am telling you this to understand the background. So we went in and met the sales representative and said we wanted to make a conference and she said, “About what?” If we say “Muslims” they will not give it to us, so we said, what is true, “Sufism.”
She asked, “What is Sufism?” and we explained about good character and Tasawwuf, and she said, “Okay, do mean business (are you really serious)?”
I looked at him (Zul) and said, “Yes, we mean business.”
Then she said, “I just took this job. I came from Alaska today to begin work. If you mean business, we’ll sign the documents right away.”
I said, “We mean business.”
She said, “Okay, you can take the hotel with eight ballrooms,” and each ballroom accommodated at least 5,000 people. She said, “Okay, we need this much money, do you agree?” We agreed and we signed.
I called our lawyer, you know her, and she said, “No, give a deposit as she might change her mind, then legally they cannot change their mind.” So I gave US $500.00 deposit and we got the hotel with $500.00! Then we began to plan, we had now the place, there was another place next door, the Sheraton that they were fixing so they gave it to us for a little money, the Presidential Suite, where Mawlana stayed, and we had 157 speakers from around the world, and not only that; Mawlana said, “I want perfection,” which meant we had to shoot high. Still I felt that it was not high, still I was in the middle, and for me it meant bringing Mawlana Shaykh (q) in the highest chair possible in Washington. So we spoke with some congressmen and some senators to throw an event on Capitol Hill and all the senators and congressmen would listen and Mawlana will make a presentation for them.
That day, the opening of the conference, they agreed to give us a room on Capitol Hill, and that same day there was an explosion in Kenya at the American Embassy [7 August 1998, terrorists bombed US Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es-Salaam, Tanzania]. We had tried to get the media to come to our conference and they wanted millions of dollars, but after those attacks they all came for free, we didn’t pay anything! It was broadcast on CNN, FoxNews, ABC, NBC, CBC, C-SPAN, all these agencies were there in the room and we had the president of Chechnya at that time, Aslan Maskhadov. So when Awliyaullah want something, it will happen!
Until today people are still speaking about that conference, where Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) gave a very nice presentation on fighting extremism when there was no knowledge on extremism, and no one knew what is Wahabi and what is Salafi, and Mawlana (q) brought it on the podium. How he knew that this is going to happen? He likes to make everything perfect, he likes to present his awraad to Allah (swt) and the Prophet (s) in the best way, not like us, we are watching movies and making tasbeeh, is that correct? When he does his awraad he does his awraad personally, with no interference. That is an example of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and look how much he is humble.
Acquiring the London Priory
When we first went to Brunei it was by invitation of Pehin Aziz, the Minister of Education, but before that invitation we went for an event and Mawlana (q) liked the country because they celebrate Mawlid an-Nabi (s) and many `ulama from Saudi come there to celebrate it. Mawlana stood patiently in the reception line and did not push himself to be in the front for the Sultan to see him, he was at the end of the line. When the Sultan finished greeting the guests he went directly to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), whom he didn’t know! The attraction of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim moved him there; just as it has moved you, it moved him as well. the Sultan took Mawlana to the palace, then later he helped Mawlana get the Priory in St. Ann’s, which is a place now for worship and some other issues that I will not discuss.
They asked me to speak about Mawlana Shaykh and I prepared this [notes] and this will be enough for all of us. Look how Allah raises Awliyaullah, we don't raise them! All of us think we did something good for Mawlana Shaykh; no, he did for us, he and Grandshaykh (q) and Grandshaykh and Grand Grandshaykh, all the way back to the Prophet (s), they all did for us!
Hajj 1968
In 1968, we went with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) to Hajj and when you arrive in Mecca what do you do? You go for Tawaaf al-Qudoom; so we went for tawaaf and we went the first round, second round, third round, fourth round, after Baab al-Multazam, where people put their chests under the door, and Mawlana stopped there, it was as if there was no one anymore, everything disappeared, no people. It’s crowded, when you go to Hajj you see that you cannot stand there, they push you, but it was as if everything had disappeared, I was unable to see anything anymore, only Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) making du`a! And he said, “Yaa Rabbee! We are coming from far away, we are coming to Your House, we are coming to Your House that all prophets built for you. We are weak servants, full of sins. Shower us and send rain on all the people doing tawaaf around Ka`bah.”
In less than five minutes clouds appeared and rain fell so fast until all Mecca was flooded, and the water came up to our hips! All that from one du`a of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) that Allah accepted! What do you think about his mureeds, like you? He doesn't ask for Allah’s help for you? Every day he asks for his mureeds to be helped! When you have good faith you will see it, but when you have shaky faith you have to perfect it in order to achieve the barakah of that du`a. People say, “We are making du`a and Shaykh is making du`a for us but we are not seeing the result of the du`a.” Yes of course, that is because Allah (swt) has delayed the acceptance of the du`a.
The Miracle of Restoring Life to the Dead
Allah (swt) said:
ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
Call on Me, I will answer you. (Surah Ghaafir, 40:60)
Id`oonee astajib lakum, but it will be delayed because our faith is not strong. When we strengthen our faith, the du`a will be accepted immediately. There is one, yuqaal lahu, Naqeeb al-Ashraaf, the head of the Ashraaf in Lebanon with many masaajid under them and they love Mawlana Shaykh (q) a lot. Not all the family, they are two brothers and one of them loves Mawlana and the other doesn't care. And the good one asked Mawlana to make du`a for his brother, a communist, socialist. One day the good brother said to his brother, “Come with me to see Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in Tripoli,” and his brother said, “Leave me alone. I bought these chicks for my children to play with and they died and my wife threw them in the garbage and I am sad, I don't want to go and see a shaykh now, but I will tell you one thing: if he will revive those dead chicks, I will accept him.”
That is impossible. They are from the Family of the Prophet (s), Ashraaf, and one is good and one is a socialist communist and he wanted his brother to look bad in front of the shaykh, so he said, “If he will make them to live I will accept him.”
So the brother said, “Okay, let us go and ask.” So they went by car to Tripoli and reached to us, to the house.
Mawlana said to him, “What is your problem?”
That one said, “Yaa shaykh,” not ‘yaa Sayyidee’ or anything, “I am communist, I don't believe in all this maskhara, “joke”, this is a joke for me, but I will give you a chance: if these chicks come back to life, I will surrender.”
Mawlana said, “Call your wife and ask her to look in the garbage can, look there.”
He called his wife and said, “Run to the kitchen and check the garbage can, are the chicks alive or dead?”
She called back and said, “All of them are alive!”
All these chicks were alive! How can this happen?
أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Behold! Verily on the Friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah Yunus, 10:62)
“Awliyaullah have nothing to fear.” Allah will give them what they want. Allah gave Sayyidina Zakariyya (a) a child because he made his du`a in the niche of the Virgin Mary (a) and Allah accepted from Sayyidina Zakariyya (a), and this was from a prophet.
بَلْ أَحْيَاء عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
No, they live, finding their sustenance provided in the Presence of their Lord. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:169)
Allah provides for them, with what? Food? Allah said they are alive in the Presence of their Lord, provided for, provided with heavenly knowledge, with power! The Prophet (s) said:
قال رسول الله ص حياتي خير لكم تحدثون ويحدث لكم ومماتي خير لكم تعرض علي أعما لكم فإن وجدت خيراً حمدت الله وما وجدت غير ذلك استغفرت لكم.
My life is a great good for you: you relate from and narrations are related to you and my death contains good for you as well, for I observe the `amal of my Ummah. If I find good I thank Allah, and if I see other than that, bad, I ask forgiveness for you. (al-Bazzaar in his Musnad)
Tu`radu `alayya `amal ummatee... “I am shown the actions of my Ummah and if they are good, I praise Allah and if not, I ask forgiveness for them.” So they are provided that power to follow their followers.
“I observe the `amal of my Ummah if I see good, hamadtullah I thank Allah, if I see they did bad I make istighfaar on their behalf,” so they inherit from Prophet (s) some of that power from the Prophet (s), and they can give to their followers in their daily life, but we cannot see or understand that.
The Miracle of Simultaneously Being in Two Places
One day, Hajj time was coming, and the Prime Minister of Lebanon came to visit Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and he said, “Yaa Sayyidee, I am going for Hajj, please accompany me.”
And Mawlana was in our home and he said, “I cannot go, I am busy at this time. I have lots of mureeds coming and going, and I just got back from a long trip, so I cannot go. I am sorry, inshaa-Allah next time.”
He went for Hajj and when he returned after twenty days, he and the mayor of Tripoli, and they came directly to visit Shaykh Nazim (q) and he said to him, “Yaa Sayyidee, I invited you to come with me, but you preferred to go with someone else!” He met Mawlana when they were doing tawaaf at the Ka`bah! And Mawlana had never moved from the house! He was in the house all the time that the Prime Minister was away in Hajj. But Mawlana with his magnificent power that no one can understand; he was there in Hajj, as well and the Prime Minister saw him.
Khalwah at the Maqaam of Shaykh `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani in Iraq
What to speak about someone who dedicated his life for Allah, His Prophet (s) and Awliyaullah? One time Grandshaykh (q) ordered Mawlana to go for khalwah at the maqaam of Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) in Baghdad. If your shaykh will tell you to go for khalwah and says, “Go to the mosque of Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) and do khalwah there,” what would you do? You would prepare yourself, go home and say farewell to your wife and children and take some money. When Grandshaykh (q) told Mawlana to go to khalwah in Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani’s mosque, he immediately left Grandshaykh’s (q) house, without passing his own house, went downtown waiting for a car to take him, and he did not even have any money in his pocket! Nothing. He did not go like us to get money or a suitcase and he was not even carrying his passport! He went to Marja, downtown in Damascus, where a truck carrying huge cargo approached him, stopped and the driver said, “Yaa Shaykh! Where are you going?”
Mawlana said, “I am going to Iraq.”
The man said, “Yes, so am I, jump in.”
Mawlana traveled to the mosque of Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) in that truck, and when he arrived there the mushrif of the maqaam was standing there opening the door.
He greeted Mawlana, saying, “Last night I had a dream that Sayyidina Muhammad (s) came to me and said, ‘My son is coming, one of my children is coming to do seclusion, host him well.’ I have been waiting for you here since this morning.” Mawlana had no money, no suitcase, no passport and no transportation. Everything was solved and Mawlana went for his khalwah.
Mawlana Shaykh’s Level of Annihilation
O Muslims! To discuss Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is not an easy job, because he is in the Maqaam al-Fanaa’, on the Level of Annihilation: fanaa’ fi ’sh-shaykh, fanaa’ fi ‘l-Habeebi ‘l-Mustafa, fanaa’ fi ‘Llah `azza wa jall. That means he is in complete submission, and he is like this, he entered into that Level of Annihilation where he says:
رَأَيـتُ رَبّـي بِـعَينِ قَلبي فقلتُ لا شك انت انت
I saw my Lord with the eye of my heart.
I said, “No doubt it’s You! It’s You!
انت الذي حزتَ كل اين بحيث لا اينَ ثم انت
You are The One Who encompassed every ‘where’
so that there is no ‘where’ except You are there!
فليس للأين منك أينٌ فليعلم الأينُ أينَ انت
‘Where’ has no ‘where’ in regards to You,
to know where You are?
وليس للوهم فيك وهمٌ فليعلم الوهم أين انت
Nor can imagination imagine You,
for imagination to know where You are!
احطت علما بكل شيئ فكل شيئ أراه انت
Your Knowledge encompassed everything.
So that everything I see in You.
وفي فنائي فناء فنائي وفي فنائي وجدتُ انت
And in my annihilation is the annihilation of my annihilation.
And in my annihilation, I found You.
May Allah (swt) make us to see our shuyookh in dunya and Akhirah!
Miracle of the Finding the Shaykh in Africa
The last story I will tell you is about when Mawlana gave me a photo, out of the blue, and said to me, “Find this man for me!” This was about three or four years before he left dunya. “Find this man for me!” I looked at the photo and saw he is African. Where am I going to find him? I was in America and I travel in the Middle East, but when he said, “Find him,” I gave the picture to the Captain, Ahmad Fouad, an airline captain, and said to him, “You have a house in Ghana, try to find him,” in all of Africa! He looked for six months and didn’t find him.
And one day I came back to Mawlana and he said, “Did you find that shaykh in Africa?”
I said, “We looked everywhere, but we did not find him.”
He said, “Let me see the picture.” He looked at it and said, “Take it. Go and find him.”
Where to find him? And suddenly a travel was prepared for Africa, to visit Kenya, Ghana and Ivory Coast. I landed in Ivory Coast and I had to go to Kenya on the way back. In Ivory Coast I asked everyone, “Who knows this shaykh?” No one knows him. On the way to Ghana, to take a flight to Kenya I asked the mufti the imam in the VIP room, “Do you know this man?” and everyone said no. So we scanned it and sent it to many places in Africa, but no one knew him.
So when we were coming back (from Kenya) and we were in the the airport in Ghana, I was looking, I had passed immigration and I saw someone running. He didn’t care immigration or not, he was running past the immigration without showing a passport, without showing anything, as if he was not seen, and as he was approaching I took the picture...that’s the one who is in that picture, that’s the one! So he was running to me and I was running to him.
He Wanted Baya`
He hugged me and said, “I am Shaykh Zakariyya and I saw a dream of the Prophet (s) last night, saying, ‘Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim's representative is coming, go and welcome him.’ So I am coming to welcome you and I want baya`,” right there in the airport!
I called Mawlana Shaykh from the airport and said, “Mawlana, I found your man!”
He said, “What did he say?”
I said, “Nothing, except he wants baya`.”
Mawlana said, “Give him baya` immediately!”
You cannot give baya` haphazardly, casually, like selling fijil, radishes or onions; no, this is a shaykh, you cannot give baya` without an order from the shaykh. So I gave him baya` on behalf of Mawlana Shaykh and then he said, “Come with me.”
The Miracle of Water for a City with No Water
He didn’t open his mouth, he drove us to a city of 200,000 Muslims and they had no water! They get water through trucks that bring containers. He put food and gave us dinner, and said, “When I was 14 years old, I saw this man with a very nice turban, blue eyes, long beard telling me, ‘You are my student and I will send you someone to give you baya`.’ Now I am 75 years, waiting since I was 14 years old for someone to give me baya`, and every night he comes in my dream, telling me what awraad to do. I have never met him, but he comes to me in my dreams every night telling me what to do tomorrow. And I do my awraad during the day according to what he tells me.”
I said, “Where do you do your awraad?”
He said, “In this masjid,” and that masjid has no windows, no doors, it is made only of square blocks put one on top of the other. Here we have very nice masaajid and we don't go to them! That masjid had a very primitive structure with a tin roof, like you see in the villages.
He took me in the alley and said, “I want to show you something.” The alley was so narrow only one line of people could pass and in the middle of that alley is majra, raw flowing sewage and people have to pass that!
I said, “Where are you taking me?”
He said, “I am going to show you my students, 300 orphans.” He has an orphanage at the end of the alley a place that you would not put your goats and sheep in, because the ceiling had holes and rain water leaked inside and went everywhere. He has twelve classes in the orphanage, teaching them Hifzh al-Qur’an, Fiqh, Shari`ah, everything. He said, “But we have no water.”
I called Mawlana Shaykh and told him and he said, “How much money do you still have of what I gave you?”
I said, “Not too much, only 15,000 Euros.”
He said, “Give it all to him and make a well.”
Shaykh Zakariyya said, “There is no water, we already drilled here.” They have to dig by hand and go about 20 to 25 meters down, it is difficult. He said, “There is no water here. All the Wahabi organizations had helped and they dug, but there was no water. We brought a drill and drilled 100 meters, but still found no water. Where to drill? The whole city has no water.”
I said, “Mawlana said to take this 15,000 Euros and open a well.”
He said, “Where am I going to do it?”
I said, “Drill here in the masjid or just outside it.”
He said, “You are throwing your money!”
I said, “Throwing or not, it’s not my business, you drill!”
He got a big drill and suddenly there was so much water at 40 meters that there was water gushing up and out in the street! It is the only water that they drink from in that city of 200,000 Muslims, free, no one charges them any penny. So awliyaullah, you don’t understand them.
Mawlana’s Sublime Adab with His Shaykh
Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) used to shout at Mawlana Shaykh; we would shake and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim would smile. One day we were passing in the alley under Grandshaykh’s window and we heard Grandshaykh shouting at Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and he said, “You go out of here and I don't want to see you here!” and we were worried about why Grandshaykh (q) was shouting so much at Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). Then we saw him walking out and turning towards us smiling and he said, “Go up, go up.”
We said, “If he shouted at you, if we go up he will ‘kill’ us!”
Mawlana Shaykh said, “No, no! You go.” And we went up.
Grandshaykh (q) saw us, the door was open a little bit, and he said, “Hisham, Adnan, come, come!”
We entered and he looked at us and laughed, “I was so happy today! I shouted at Shaykh Nazim and he passed the test. His heart never got sad, he has that power that he didn’t even show in his eyes that he is sad or upset. He was normal. I am happy with him.”
So this is Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). There are many things to talk about: how he came for the funeral of my father, how he was with Grandshaykh (q) when they were bombarding Syria and they were throwing the rockets with their hands, moving their hands and rockets going back instead of falling on the heads of people...too many things. But my advice is that the shaykh is Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). For us, when Grandshaykh (q) was alive the shaykh for us was Grandshaykh (q) until today, we love and miss him so much.
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is similar and after him no one can carry what Mawlana Shaykh Nazim was carrying, it’s impossible, and you cannot claim that because you cannot prove that you are carrying the maqaam of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. You are carrying something, yes, but the maqaam you cannot. May Allah bless all of you and inshaa-Allah we renew our baya` to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) by raising our hands…
[Baya`.]
At-Tariqat an-Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya al-`Aliyya
What we said? “Ila sharafi ‘n-nabi (s) wa aalihı wa sahbihi ‘l-kiraam wa hadrat shaykhinaa sayyidee shaykh `Abdallah al-Faiz ad-Daghestani wa Sayyidee Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani,” but we have to differentiate between when we make du`a and what we call the Tariqah, and that is why, because in the West we had too many problems, so we added “Nazimiyya” in order to make those people who are sometimes questioning the Tariqah to know we have nothing to do with ISIS, because too many groups in Iraq were helping ISIS before, but now they are against ISIS. And also in Pakistan they have some [blacklisted] tribes and groups called “Haqqani” and we don’t want to have this problem.
That’s why we say, “Tariqah Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya” but in our du`a we say, “Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani.” So we have to be very careful in understanding this, and since this is his tribute and a neutral area, we announce that we are going with this, “Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya” all the way. It is not a different Tariqah, it is not a different awraad, it is the same people, it is the same in everything. So anyone who wants to put sticks in the wheel, that is his problem. If anyone wants to say something wrong it is his problem. We are not going to answer to anyone, we are moving forward with the caravan and inshaa'Allah people will follow. We are trained by Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) not to look backward but to look forward. Forward is our way towards Mahdi (a) and inshaaAllah Imam Mahdi (a) is coming as soon as possible and toward Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) who handed the Tariqah to Sayyidina Mahdi (a) and to Sayyidina `Ali (r). That is why he was calling on Sayyidina `Ali (r) so much in the last years of his life!
May Allah give you the blessings of Sayyidina `Ali (r) and Sayyidina Hasan wa ’l-Husayn and Sayyidina Fatima az-Zahra (r) and awliyaullahi jamee`an and Sayyidi Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani and Sayyidi Shaykh `AbdAllah Fai’z ad-Daghestani (q)!
When Mawlana Shaykh (q) was in Syria, what was his name? It was “Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Qubrusi ash-Shaami”, this was his name, adding “Qubrusi” and “Shaami” on it, “Haqqani” came in 2000 or 2001. So names change, we are not changing anything, we are keeping what he is saying, we are only adding his name on the Tariqah in order that people will mention his name. May Allah forgive us, may Allah bless us. Thank you very much.
Salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.
