A`udhu billahi min as Shaytani 'r-Rajeem.
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Ati` Allah wa ati` ar-Rasul wa uli 'l-amri minkum.
This is continuation of the previous session what is happening between Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq al-Ghujdawani قدس سرّه and that big scholar Ubaydallah al-Amawi. So after Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq Ghujdawani, after what we explain before, after what he open for him on his heart since he was coming and submitting to the shaykh, not like Abdur -Raheem al-Maghrabi but in a different way. He opened to his heart the six powers that we mentioned yesterday and he recited that ayah:
أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاء مَاء فَسَالَتْ أَوْدِيَةٌ بِقَدَرِهَا فَاحْتَمَلَ السَّيْلُ زَبَدًا رَّابِيًا وَمِمَّا يُوقِدُونَ عَلَيْهِ فِي النَّارِ ابْتِغَاء حِلْيَةٍ أَوْ مَتَاعٍ زَبَدٌ مِّثْلُهُ كَذَلِكَ يَضْرِبُ اللّهُ الْحَقَّ وَالْبَاطِلَ فَأَمَّا الزَّبَدُ فَيَذْهَبُ جُفَاء وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ النَّاسَ فَيَمْكُثُ فِي الأَرْضِ كَذَلِكَ يَضْرِبُ اللّهُ الأَمْثَالَ
Anzala mina as-sama’i ma’an fasaalat awdiyatun bi-qadarihaa fahtamala as-saylu zabadan raabiyan wa mimma yooqidoona `alayhi fee an-naari ibtighaa hilyatin aw mata`in zabadun mithluhu kadhaalika yadribullahu’l-haqqa wa ’l-baatila fa amma az-zabadu fa yathhabu jufaa’an wa amma maa yanfa`u’n-naasa fayamkuthu fi ’l-ardi kadhaalika yadribullahu ’l-amthaal.
He sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow, each according to its measure: But the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus doth Allah (by parables) show forth Truth and Vanity. For the scum disappears like froth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables. Ar-Ra'd [13:17]
Sadaqallah u ’l-`adheem... Why he read that ayah? So Ubaydullah al-Amawi didn't understand why Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq قدس سرّه read that ayah at that moment and he (the Shaykh) said to him, "Ya Ubaydullah! That ayah I am reading it is for you not for the others who are sitting in that circle. I am only reading it from whatever there are secrets in it will reach you. Ya Ubaydullah, that ayah is your guidance. That ayah is your hidayah, guidance".
Everyone, every person, every creation that Allah created, Allah put his or her guidance in an ayah. And that ayah is like his or her code. So your guidance is within the secret of that ayah. I looked at your destiny, I looked on the Day of Promises, and I looked on the Preserved Tablets. All of them have to coincide with each other. That tunnel that you have to go through in order to reach your trust is the tunnel of that ayah. If you have prayed, worshipped, `ibadat al-thaqalayn - the worship of Jinn and Ins (humans) from the beginning of life (on earth) to the end of life, in full worshipness you will never reach ma`rifatullah and you will never reach your secrets with what you are doing. By worshipping you cannot reach your destiny or aim of ma`rifatullah if you cannot understand the verse.
Allah said: “Enter the homes from their doors.” Your door is that ayah. Even if you pray (day) and night without that ayah you will never reach your aim, ma`rifatullah. If I looked at you day and night without that ayah which has your secrets embedded in it, I will never be able to get you to what you want of your real realities and no one will be able to get you there without that ayah.
That is why it is said “at-turuq il'Allah `azza wa jall ala anfaas al-khala’iq - the ways to Allah are on the number of breaths of humans.” There is a way for every human and that is based on an ayah. And to be a wali, not a normal wali - you can be - but to be of the highest calibre of wali, it is the responsibility of that wali, that murshid, to look at his followers and to know which ayah is for them. Not everyone has the same ayah. Each one has a different ayah of Qur’an and that is why shuyukh they take one verse from here, one from here, one from here and put together and give to the mureed to read.
So like what we recite in morning... shahidallahu annahu la ilaha illa huwa.. etc. are combined from different ayahs and the preparation for you, to be opened to you has combined from different ayahs of Qur’an. (Or) else the combination doesn't open the lock. So everyone has different lock and different combination. And everyone has different realities. So Salaat-an-Najaat has a special combination of ayahs that everyone reads the same, but that is a special combination for that prayer. But for individual mureed there are special ayah and when you say: O my shaykh look at me , nadhar, he has to look at you with the verse that relates to you. If he doesn't look at you with the verse that relates to you, that light will not reach you. It is there but will not be open to you.
And everyone has a manba', a source of guidance; spring. His source is different, his is different, hers is different. And don't say, “Why his source is that?” Each one is different. And people are of two types, one type reaches Allah `azza wa jall through causes. You do this, you get this – bi’l-asbaab. They have to keep running, doing, doing. doing as long as they are doing, moving forward. Some wahban, not bi’l-asbaab, but rather through a grant. You see them - their tongue is bad, they do not respect others, whatever, but you see them reaching higher and higher in their spirituality. That is grant, wahban. And the other is kasban, earning it. Allah gives them, no one can say “why?”
Look at the children of Sayyidina Ya`qub . How many? Twelve. 11 of them, 10 and Bin Yamin and Yusuf, and all were prophets. And one of them is a prophet and messenger (Sayyidina Yusuf ). Those who threw Sayyidina Yusuf in the well, although they threw their brother in the well they are granted prophecy. Can anyone say “why?” No, Allah granted them.
So awliyaullah they know which type of person you are. You get wahban or kasban, (either) by grant or by earning. So according there is a verse in Holy Qur’an that relates to you to open to you all these different haqa’iq, realities in your heart. So when he read that ayah, like when we said yesterday in the association of dhikrullah, when you need to purify yourself what do you do? You take ablution. Water cleans you. If no ablution, you cannot pray. If you did more than that and you need a shower, you cannot take ablution and pray even. You have to take shower. If no shower you are still in pleasure of dunya. The shower takes you from dunya to akhira.
Hadath al-akbar, greater impurity needs a shower, although as we said yesterday “there is no shyness in religion.” If you touch your wife it takes sins away and if she touches you, it takes sins away. But you need to take a shower after. That shower will purify you, because Allah said:
وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَاء كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
waja`alnaa mina ’l-mai kulla shayin hayyin afalaa yuminoon
We made from water everything alive. Will they not then believe? Suratu’l-Anbiya [21:30]
Your body become alive, your spirit become alive, after you take shower. Do ablution and you enter in prayer as if newly born. Also in dhikrullah, when you sit in association and make dhikr, that heavenly water, if we can say like that, or heavenly manifestion of Allah’s Beautiful Names and Attributes, will shower you and purify you as if newly born.
That is why it is important to attend halaqaat-adh-dhikr as it is cleansing process. And if you don't have excuse you are missing one of main pillar of tariqah. Like we have 5 pillars of Shariah, you cannot miss one of them; you have also that pillar in tariqah. Only you can miss it when traveling, when you have an important guest or when you have sickness, 3 of them. Other than that you have to come. People today all of us, when dhikr day comes, we feel very heavy. We try to postpone as much as we can like from 4:15 to 4:30, we want to change (even) 15 minutes. Look how much it is heavy. Why they are smiling. Means there is something secret there that made them to laugh. So that association will shower and clean you. Because that water will continue running until Judgement Day in that place. And if you enter that place anytime in the week that tajalli is still there, it never goes.
That is why they say any wali enters a place, it will never go, that tajalli, it become a maqaam – spiritual station. So make sure your shaykh will sleep in your bed 5 minutes at least and that will become a maqaam.
