A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah, nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta`ala fee hadha 'l-masjid.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.
Alhamdulillah that Allah (swt) has filled this dunya with his awliya. They are everywhere, waiting for their followers to meet with them. If they don't meet with them physically they meet with them spiritually or in dreams and visions. No one can deny dreams and visions. It can happen that anyone has a vision; when he is meditating or when he is making tafakkur, contemplating, he might enter into a state of ma`rifah, divine knowledge.
As Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, may Allah bless his soul, said before he left dunya, “Allah has many awliya around the world and all of them have different names but their goal is one: for their mureeds to reach the Divine Presence, to fill their hearts with love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and his Family and his Companions, and to fill their hearts with love toward each other.”
Jealousy Destroyed the Human Race
Allah didn’t create dunya and let it down, what Allah creates must be perfect. Heavens are perfect or not? They are. Although they were perfect and no ma`siyyah in them, it happened that Iblees the Cursed One entered. He was in Paradise coming to Sayyidina Adam (a). He whispered in his ear in Heavens--not in the universe, not in the altitude of 40,000 feet that today airplanes can go--no, he was whispering in his ears to pull him out of Heavens because of jealousy, a disease that needs a lot of work from awliya to take it out of their followers.
Jealousy is what destroyed the human race. Why do we see people fighting each other? They fight because of jealousy. Even innocent children of a few years old, if you put a toy in their hands they fight over it out of jealousy. So when Allah created us, anger and jealousy were molded in our creation for a wisdom that will Allah (swt) allow it or not, as it is up to Him, but we see that Iblees entering Paradise and whispering in the ears of Sayyidina Adam (a) was because he was jealous of the Light of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in Sayyidina Adam's forehead, then he knew Maqaam al-Mahmoud was going to be for the one for whom that light appeared, not him.
Awliyaullah Want Their Followers to Overcome Jealousy and Be Powerful, But How?
So awliyaullah want their followers to achieve, reach and know what Allah has given them of these Six Levels: Haqiqat al-Jazbah, Haqiqat al-Fayd, Haqiqat at-Tawassul, Haqiqat at-Tawajjuh, Haqiqat at-Tayy and Haqiqat al-Irshad. To reach that is very difficult for us; only those who have been picked up and dressed with that are able to understand these Six Realities, and they will become saints and can teach their mureeds from that ma'rifah. To reach that is not so easy.
Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said:
I was 18 years of age and my uncle, Shaykh Sharafuddin of the Golden Chain, got me to marry. I was married for one week then he ordered me, and I had a new wife to take care of, but the tests he put me in were so big that he ordered me into seclusion although I was newly married, and also to make sure to take care of my mother who had no one except me. So I quickly sold everything I had, asked my wife to take care of my mother and I entered seclusion, not a normal seclusion, but a five year seclusion, for five years not to see anyone. Daily I had only a piece of dry bread I put in water to make it soft and seven olives.
I used to be very heavy (overweight), my eyes were puffy and my face was full because of fat. After five years, I came out of seclusion very slim, I lost everything, but I had one thing I was very happy with: what Allah opened to me in that seclusion. I was not able to control myself, when I was walking in the street, when I was going to the masjid or anywhere, because miracles came day and night until I reached a situation where the whole city knew that I had miraculous powers. One day my shaykh called me and said, "`AbdAllah Effendi!" an expression they have, "You, divorce miracles", (how you divorce a lady three times, then you cannot remarry as the relationship is finished). Divorce powers six times", meaning there is no way to show miracles. It was so hard to not come out of that, but I managed to keep the order of my shaykh.
From that seclusion I was always in tafakkur, meditation, in addition to my daily awrad. I was doing tafakkur first of all on the five levels of the heart [we mentioned them yesterday: Qalb, Sirr, Sirr as-Sirr, Khafaa, Akhfaa.] I was working very hard for these doors to be opened, and alhamdulillah, Allah granted me through His love and Prophet's love to see that in comparison to all the miracles coming out from me, these oceans of knowledge granted to me were more valuable than all the miracles.
Meditation Opens the Heavenly Powers
Grandshaykh (q) said to meditate, and every Muslim must meditate, as the Prophet (s) said:
تفكر ساعة خير من عبادة سبعين سنة
Contemplation for one hour is better than 70 years of supererogatory worship. (Nuzhat al-Majalis)
Meditate for one hour and you will be rewarded for 70 years of worship. What is the main thing to meditate on? That all the good you have is from Him and that all the bad is from you. We said it many times, there are 800 manhiyyaat, forbiddens, and Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said one time in seclusion with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, “Nazim Effendi, through your meditation, tafakkur, whatever comes of bad manners, write them to reach 800 forbiddens in order to enter that ocean and to pull them all.” Mawlana Shaykh Nazim did seclusion with Grandshaykh in Madinatu ‘l-Munawwarah for six months, and he said, “Whenever I had a bad thought in my heart I wrote it down. I was wondering in my heart, ‘How can I write 800 bad manners?’ No way I was able to do it, I was only able to write 187 bad manners and at that time Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) was able to count 800.”
Our Way Is the Opposite of Modern Western Psychology
Psychologists usually say look at yourself, at whatever you have done of good and praise yourself for it. That is the first weakness in Psychology that pulls your leg down, to make yourself proud of your 'amal. That is Psychology. In Tariqah it is the opposite: the method is to meditate on your bad character and write it so that you will not go back to it. Two opposite approaches: one for dunya, to be proud of what you have done, and the second is to be disappointed by the sins you have done.
Wazeefa to Protect from Evil, Shirk and Kufr
Grandshaykh said that meditation at night is protection for the servant, taffakur fi ‘l-layl himaayat al-`abd, when everyone is sleeping that taffakur, meditation, will protect you from shirk and kufr until morning. So if you wake up for Qiyam al-Layl, we know we are helpless to wake up, but man tashabbaha bi qawmin fa huwa min hum, whoever imitates a group of people is from them, and if your intention is good then everything will be good, even if you were not able to do it. So that meditation will save you and protect you from falling into ash-shirk al-khafee during the day. He said to save yourself from that and to enter in the Ocean of the Six Realities, recite:
3 times Shahadatayn
70 times Astaghfirullah
1 time Surat al-Fatihah
3 times Surat al-Ikhlas
Present them to the Prophet (s) and then he, in turn, will present them to Allah (swt). If that person read that and sleeps with this adab, this principle, Allah (swt) will give him visions and dreams as if he is in the presence of the Prophet (s). Grandshaykh (q) says that awliyaullah know their followers are helpless and they do on their behalf, but they ask their followers to do something in order to connect their pipes together. He said this person will be protected from sharr, evil power, and that Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur'an:
أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)
Wazeefa for Illness and Trouble
We are under the order of itaa`at, obedience, to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s) and for those who are here, obedience of what we are discussing, ooli ‘l-amr, those in authority, which is awliyaullah. Some scholars say ooli ‘l-amr means the government, which is okay, but here it means awliyaullah that guide you to good deeds. If one person guided by the shaykh sees himself falling down or fell into trouble, any kind of trouble, even he prays and the prayer of all the people in the world were added to his prayers, still that will not save him like one awraad I will give you that is so small, so little, but it is like a sword to cut down that trouble you are facing! The only resolution is to see a quick response.
Recite:
3 times Shahadah
70 times Astaghfirullah
1 time Surat al-Fatihah
Present this as a gift to the Prophet (s), asking Allah (swt) for relief. If you read this on a sick person, if he is not facing death he will be cured. This small recitation will lead you to be in the good hands of Awliyaullah and insha'Allah you will cured by Allah’s order and Prophet’s mercy. First you read Shahadatayn 3 times, astaghfirullah 70 times, al-Fatihah one time, and then you give them to the Prophet (s) to take care of that person; you present this recitation to the Prophet (s).
The first one I mentioned is for taffakur to enter the ocean of the six realities. This small recitation will lead you to be in the hands of Awliyaullah, so these two things don’t forget them: one for meditation and the other is for reciting on a sick person, it is important for us to learn and know.
Allah Teaches Us the Real Tawheed is to Go to the Prophet
Grandshaykh (q) said here itaa`atullah hiya rooh al-i`badaah, the obedience to Allah is the soul and principle of worship. So have obedience to Allah, His Prophet, and His awliya, and to an elder and to anyone, and inshaa-Allah this Ramadan Allah will change all of us from those who have hidden shirk to those who have perfect Tawheed, and not add anyone to commit shirk, and for all to be outside the circle of shirk. This doesn’t mean don't go to the Prophet (s) for your problems, it is telling you the real Tahweed is to go to the Prophet (s) because Allah made it like that when He put His name with the Prophet's name! The real Tawheed always comes from Prophet (s); our tawheed is a soup. Allah (swt) told us in Holy Qur'an:
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآؤُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُواْ اللّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُواْ اللّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا
If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come to you and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:64)
“If they were oppressors to themselves they come to you, O Muhammad.” So the door of tawheed is really Prophet (s): when you read that ayah that oppression will be lifted up, which is why it is important to read Holy Qur'an.
The Power of Reading Holy Qur’an
When I was reading Holy Qur'an today, and I read every day, it came to my heart that these letters are alive and Qur’an is alive. These kind of letters when you are reading them what kind of realities do they open? Any letter in the Holy Qur'an, any word, what kind of knowledge they are speaking to you, what kind of knowledge are these letters hiding? It was as if I was hearing them and listening to them, but the question is what are they saying, what kind of reality are they opening?
One of these letters, it came to my heart, tursil ashaa`a, sends heavenly rays of light; you can feel it and see it coming from Holy Qur'an. That is why we say Holy Qur'an is qur’aan naatiqee, not silent, it speaks and the language is Arabic. Grandshaykh used to say every letter contains 24,000 oceans of knowledge and if he reads the same letter again it contains another 24,000 oceans of meanings, not copying, but new ones. Someone reading Qur’an, Allah gives him something that will suit him according to his reality, his soul.
May Allah guide us. Don't forget these two wazeefas, one for sickness and one for meditation.
Allah Gave Us Meditation in Islam
Today some say there is no meditation in Islam; yes, there is meditation, and we are Muslims and there is the Muslim way of meditation recommended by Allah (swt):
Behold! In the creation of Heaven and Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding, those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and contemplating the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (saying), "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose! Glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.” (Surat Aali `Imraan, 3:190-191)
Allah will grant us from the blessings of these letters of Holy Qur'an and will open for them some of the realities. Everything you read in Holy Qur’an, Allah opens something to you at that moment until you finish and it will be saved for you until the Day of Judgement.
May Allah bless us and forgive us. Thank you for viewing, sorry for the shortcomings. This Ramadan may we all unite and continue showing love to everyone, especially to our brothers and sisters, and to our religion, to our Prophet, to our Creator, and to everything that Allah has created from His Love, because all of Creation was created by Allah’s Love. Allah knows how much He will create before He created them. Allah knows when Sayyidina Israfeel (a) sounds the trumpet, He knows everything about everyone, and may Allah guide us to His Way and His Prophet and the way of Islam.
As-salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.
