Suhbah at the Centre for Cultural & Spiritual Advancement (CSCA)

As salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu!

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem, as-salaatu wa ‘s-salaamu `ala Sayyidi ‘l-mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `ala aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. Ta`dheeman li habeebi ‘l-mustafa, Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammad al-Mustafa afdalu ‘s-salaatu wa ‘s-salaam. Sha`anahu Allahu subhaana wa ta`ala rasooluhu ila ‘n-naasi kaafi. Yaa ma`shara ‘l-muslimeen, yaa ma`shara ‘l-mu’mineen, yaa mashara ‘l-ahlu ‘s-sunnati wa jam`aa koomoo li nabiyyikum, hubbu li nabiyyikum, uktubu ‘l-madad min saahibi ‘l-madad, fa huwa saahibu ‘l-madad mina ‘l-Llahi ta`ala azza wa jal! Huwa bahrun laysalahu min daya wa laysalahu min nihaya, habeeb al-Mustafa alayhi afdalu ‘s-salaat wa ‘s-salaam.

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

By al-'Asr (the time)! Verily, Mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and exhorted each other to truth and exhorted each other to patience. (Surat al-`Asr, 103:1-3)

O Mu’min! O Muslims! We don’t know what to speak anymore as the wisdom of knowledge is being kept hidden nowadays because we are in the Signs of the Last Days! Today we are approaching one day after one day, as Allah said in Holy Qur’an:

اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh and the moon is cleft asunder. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:1)

It is 1437 Hijri and Allah (swt) said to His Prophet (s), as he was the first one to know, “Yaa Muhammad! Iqtarabat saa`ati wan shaqa ‘l-qamr, the Day of Judgement is near, wake up your Ummah, tell them to wake up!” No games, no challenges, because when Allah wants anything, Kun fayakun!

In Tafseer of Surat al-`Asr, `Asr can be Salaat al-`Asr, the time of afternoon prayer; it can also be wa ‘l-Asr, the time of a century, which is a hundred years; it can be the time that Allah (swt) wants to give to the Ummah, a period of time from Prophet’s Hijra up to today, which is 1437 years; it can be ‘one `Asr’, such as the `Asr of the Ummah; or to Awliyaullah, the most accepted Tafseer of al-`Asr is the life of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), 63 years, that Allah (swt) is giving an oath on the life of Prophet (s).

What is the dearest to Allah (swt)? Sayyidina Muhammad (s). It is an order to make salawaat on him. So who is the best? Sayyidina Muhammad alayhi afdalu ‘s-salaat wa ‘s-salaam. There is no question, no doubt, he is the Best, he is the Highest, the Messenger to All Humanity and to All of Creation, to all universes, to all that Allah has created: Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is sent to all of them!

Allah is giving an oath on the life of Prophet (s), because it is a precious time that Prophet spent on Earth, 63 years, 6+3=9. Nine in numerology is zero: it means complete submission. His life, which is 6+3=9, means he is in complete submission. How many verses are in Holy Qur’an? 6,666. Add them, 6+6+6+6=24 and 2+4=6. Allah said He created Heavens and Earth in six days. How many surahs are in Holy Qur’an? 114 or 1+1+4=6. That six has a meaning. That is for Akhirah, in dunya it is nine, to be zero, but we are not zero, we are egoistic, our ego makes us think we are something and, in reality, Allah (swt) can pull in a moment what He gave to you as a Trust! If He takes away your soul, what happens? In a moment you submit, but Allah loves you to submit before He takes your soul. No one has full submission in the whole universe, in the whole of Creations, like as Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because of his full submission Allah raised him and he is angelic now, he is Noor, Noor `ala Noor yahdihi mayyashaa, which means Allah will guide whom He likes to His Noor, to Prophet (s) and all of you mashaa-Allah, the lovers of Muhammad (s).

Today we are observing a day of happiness and sadness: sadness in the life of Muslims to see the perfect ones that Prophet (s) covered with his cloth, Ahlu ‘l-Bayt, are being massacred. That day is a sad event, a sad day in our history, but happy because they joined their grandfather, the Prophet (s) especially Sayyidina Husayn (r). They say it happened in Karbala; split that word as karboon, wa balaa, “run and fight,” run forward and back, and run and fight. The army coming to Sayyidina Husayn were ten-thousand people against seventy-two people. Seventy-two people stood in front of 10,000! Look at the wild animals, to have cut the head of Sayyidina al-Husayn (a) were they not ashamed in front of Allah (swt)? They were Muslims! Today they speak about ISIS, Da`ish, cutting the necks of people, but they did not yet cut the neck of Ahlu ‘l-Bayt as Allah kept them away from them. In history, there are some who cut the neck of Sayyidina Hussayn (r). Allah gave an oath on `Asr, to tell them that the best period of time, the most lovely life that Allah (swt) loved from Ummat an-Nabi (s) is the life of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!

Wa ‘l-`Asr, inna ‘l-insaana laa fee khusr illa ‘l-ladheena `aamanoo wa `aameeloo ‘s-saaleehaat wa tawasaww bi ‘l-haqq wa tawasaww bi ‘s-sabr.

By `Asr (the Token of) Time (through the ages). Verily, Mankind is in loss except those who have faith and do righteous deeds and (join together) in the mutual teaching of truth and patience and constancy. (Surat al-`Asr, 103:1-3)

“Wa ‘l-`Asr, I am giving My oath on the life of Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) that for sure human beings are lost, they are losing.” We are losers! I'm not saying this to frighten you, but for us to remind ourselves how much difficulty Ahlu ‘l-Bayt saw in their lives, which was not easy. Allah (swt) is giving an oath on the life of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to say, “You are losers, O Human Beings, except those who believe and did their best and kept Haqq and left Baatil, and were patient. Allah gave them patience. Sayyidina `Umar was killed, Sayyidina `Uthman was killed, Sayyidina `Ali was killed, Sayyidina Hassan was killed, and Sayyidina Husayn was killed: these are Ahlu ‘l-Bayt. We have to take `ibra, an example, that Allah (swt) showed the Ummah how much they are evil, but us, the lovers of Prophet (s) and the lovers of Ahlu ‘l-Bayt are like a flower with too many thorns around it. Be lovers of Prophet (s)! Love Muhammad and praise him and praise his Family (a) day and night! You will be successful.

Prophet (s) said: Allah gave the Ummah idha saluhaat ummatee. In Tafseer of Surat al-`Asr, Allah says in Holy Qur’an, “Wa ‘l-`Asr,” which is within the life of Prophet Muhammad (s), and in the Hadith Prophet (s) said:

إن أحسنت أمتي فلها يوم ، وإن أساءت فلها نصف يوم

If my Ummah does good then it will live one day, and if it does bad then it will live half a day.

(Al-Maqasid al-Husna fi ma ashtara ala ‘l-Alsina by al-Sakhawi)

Truly one day for Your Lord is like a thousand years that you count. (Surat al-Hajj, 22:47)

“If the Ummah kept its saluhaat, righteousness, I would give her a life of one day, but if it didn't keep that righteousness and it went astray, I would give half a day.” Wa `inda yawma inda rabbikaka alfa sana ila matarudu, “One day equals 1,000 years and half a day equals 500 years.” Allah gave the Ummah 1500 years of life and today we are at 1437, with 63 years left, which is the life of Prophet (s). Also, if you add 1437, 1+4+3+7= 15, then add 15, 1+5=6, we go back to the number six. Allah created the Heavens, Earth, Universe and all Creations in 6 days. Those 6 days are coming now! We are in the last 63 years according to the interpretation of Awliyaullah. These are not our words or calculation, it is Awliyaullah’s calculation. They said it, so we believe. Why do we have to believe? To prepare, to be ready as we don't know, it may suddenly come any time.

When the Earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion and the Earth throws up her burdens (from within) and man cries (distressed), "What is the matter with her?" on that Day will she declare her tidings, for your Lord will have given her revelation. (Surat az-Zalzalah, 99:1-4)

When this huge earthquake mentioned in Holy Qur’an will suddenly hit, it won’t take permission from anyone, it will be by Allah’s Order, kun fayakun! That day everything will come up and everything will go down. Wa akhrajati ’l-ardu athqalaaha, Allah (swt) will order the Earth to bring forth all that is hidden in it, all its secrets, and all the seas will come up to be questioned. What are we going to answer to this Hadith, what are we going to say to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s)? May Allah forgive us!

So many Signs of the Last Days have already appeared, but I am mentioning this Sign because it is the most obvious, awful, bad and ugly one that Prophet (s) mentioned. He (s) said, the Signs of the Last Days will not come until:

عن عبد الله ابن العاص قال ريول الله لا تقوم الساعة حتى يتسافدوا في الطرقات كتسافد الحمير. قلت إن ذلك كائن. قال نعم ليكونن.

`Abdullah ibn al-`Aas reported that the Prophet said, “The Hour will not arise until people lie with each other in the street as donkeys lie with each other.” I said, “Will that indeed happen?” He said, “Surely, it will happen.” (Ibn Hibban)

What is that something? “Yatasafatoo fi’t-turooqaat” means men and women will hug each other and sit on a bench doing you know what [having sexual intercourse]. Is that happening or not? You’ve seen them. 1400 years ago, Prophet (s) said this would happen and now this is obvious, people behave like donkeys. Prophet (s) said, laa haayaa fi'd-deen, “There is no shyness in [matters of] religion.” When the donkey wants, he follows the horse to get a mule (a mixed breed). Allah (swt) described them in an ugly way. The Prophet (s) explained and Sahaabah (r) said, Adhaalika kaa'in, “Is that possible?” and Prophet (s) said, “Yes, for sure that is going to happen.” He said this 1500 years ago. Is that happening now or not? [Yes!] So what are we going to answer? Don't give an excuse to yourself, because the second Hadith that I am going to mention will for sure show that we are weak servants of Allah (swt), that we cannot control our ego, which is wild and riding us. What did Abu Hurayrah (r) say?

By He in Whose Hand is my soul, this Ummah will not perish until a man comes up to a woman and sleeps with her in the street. The best of them in those days will be those who say, “If it were me, I would have hidden it behind this wall!” (Abu Ya’la)

Narrated by Muslim, Abu Hurayrah (r) related from Prophet (s), “I am giving an oath by The One in Whose Hands is my life.” Prophet (s) does not need to give an oath, because if he says something all the Sahaabah (r) believe it, but he is saying this to us because we are wavering between yes and no; we don’t take it into consideration, to confirm it. He said, “This Ummah will never be extinguished (disappear) until a man will stand up for a woman (in public) and will go (put his body) over her and sleep with her (have sexual intercourse) on the grass (in the park or on a street).”

So what do you do? Prophet (s) said the man will go over the woman and sleep with her on the bench or the grass, the soil, in front of everyone! “The good ones among them,” means they are already bad, but moderate ones will say, “Wow! At least I might hide myself behind the wall, not to be like them in the middle of the street.” This was foretold fifteen centuries ago! When you pass by the park, what do you see? You see what the Prophet (s) said, and people don’t say, “Astaghfirullah!” but rather, “Oh! He is better than me, he has a chance to be with that lady! I wish I was that one, but I would have hidden myself.” Now they are not on the street anymore, they are bringing it to your homes and all of us are making a mistake, giving it to our children through iPhones and iPads! We don’t supervise what they are watching. We may ask, “What are you doing (on the Internet)?”and they always say, “I am doing my homework,” and Allah knows what they are doing.

Today there is no control. They brought to your children what all your life you didn’t want for yourself, and they call it hadaara, modernity. Is that modernity, to sleep over (on top of) each other like animals? In Shari`ah, Allah allowed you to sleep with your wife, but you are not permitted to be uncovered, you must cover with a sheet or blanket in your bedroom because the angels will run away. Who is covering now?

O Muslims! We are doing a lot of things that are not acceptable. What can we do? Say, “Astaghfirullah!” [Astaghfirullah!] Min kulli dhanbin wa ma`siyya, min kulli maa yukhaalif deen al-Islam min kulli maa yukhaalif ash-Shari'ah, min kulli maa yukhaalif at-Tariqah, min kulli maa yukhaalif al-Haqeeqah, min kulli maa yukhaalif al-`Azheema yaa Arham ar-Rahimeen! Allah will forgive because He knows, He granted us these istighfaar to forgive us as we are weak servants, we make mistakes, we are not ma`soom, infallible. Today, these issues are coming in front of us. Where do Muslims go today? Look at this Hadith of Prophet (s):

لا تقوم الساعة حتى يلحق قبائل من أمتي بالمشركين وحتى يعبدوا الأوثان

The Hour will not arise until some of the tribes of my Ummah follow the polytheists and worship idols.

(Tirmidhi)

“The Last Day will not come until my Ummah follows the unbelievers.” Are we following the unbelievers? Yes, we follow them in everything they say! Islam brought peace, happiness and contentment, but they are giving us no peace, no happiness, no contentment! Alhamdulillah, Allah dressed us with imaan and made us peaceful people: we are not fighting, we are not criminals, we live nicely and stay in our homes, as the Prophet (s) said:

Before the Hour comes, there will be a tribulation like patches of dark night. A man will get up a believer and go to sleep a kafir, or will go to sleep a believer and get up a kafir. The one who sits will be better than one who stands and one who walks will be better than one who runs. Break your bows, cut their strings and strike your swords against stones. If someone comes to kill any of you, then be like the better of the two sons of Adam. (Narrated Abu Musa al-Ash`aree, Abu Dawud.)

“There are going to be confusions like big chunks of darkness,” confusion that is so huge! Today we are all in confusions, as Prophet (s) mentioned. Show me one person who doesn’t have a problem? Prophet (s) said:

The Hour will not arise until some of the tribes of my Ummah follow the polytheists and worship idols. (Tirmidhi)

“The Day of Judgement will not come until people of my Ummah follow the mushrikeen,” and people are following them and some of my Ummah will worship statues.” Today many people follow gurus to teach them meditation. I don't know why they do this (joins thumb and forefinger). Can anyone tell me the significance? [They say “Om.”] Om? What is the benefit? [They reconnect to themselves through themselves.] In any case, there is another explanation. I am seeing now that Muslims are making dhikr connection with their energy, yaa Huuuu! Connect to the Holy Qur’an instead of spending your time in ‘balancing’ yourself through yoga. Read Qur’an!

Which is better, yoga or Qur’an, Allah's Ancient Words? We do yoga now and don't look at the Qur’an and Hadith, and we don't make salawaat or dhikr. Everywhere now, we raise our legs in yoga positions and balance ourselves, even in Muslim countries! Are you not ashamed of yourselves? For a Muslim to say, “I am doing yoga,” it is better to pray two raka`ats because Allah gave us a heavenly form of worship, a heavenly sport: two rak`ats! Aren’t you satisfied? Then pray 100 raka`ats! (Laughter.) You spend one hour in yoga and it is infinitely better to spend one hour in prayer, perhaps 50 raka`ats, for which you will be rewarded! Allah will dress you with His Mercy and with the other way you will be cursed. Too many Muslim homes are doing yoga. Is there is an explanation?

O Muslims! When they were killing him, every drop of blood that came from Sayyidina al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, was saying “Allah, Allah….” [Allah!] Allah said in the Holy Qur’an:

قُلِ الله ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ

[Tell them, yaa Muhammad] Say "Allah," then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling. (Surat al-An`am, 6:91)

Salafi Wahhabis say, “Don't say ‘Allah’ because that is haraam! Don’t make dhikr with Allah's Name, Ismu Dhaat, that’s haraam!” Yet Allah says in the Holy Qur’an, “Qul Allah, say ‘Allah’, then leave them to play as they like. O Muhammad! Say ‘Allah’ with your Sahaabah and leave the rest.”

Allah (swt) said in a Holy Hadith:

أَنَا جَلِيْسُ مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي

I sit with him who remembers Me. (Hadith Qudsi. Ahmad, Bayhaqi),

If sometimes it comes to you to say “Allah” then say it, because at that moment you can feel there is Company with you, as Allah said, “I am sitting with the one who is remembering Me,” which means Allah’s Divine Presence! Allah’s Blessings and Mercy are with you when you are remembering Him, so remember Him! When you remember Him, how can you then do something wrong? Still, our belief is not strong, it is weak. We know we are looking at something haraam, but at the same time we say, “astaghfirullah” and look. No one can deny it. I am reading your hearts.

Allah gave every one of us a unique specialty and you cannot find two people with the same specialty. Allah (swt) gave everyone khusoosiyya lahu, something that is uniquely for him that he shares with no one, and He gave it to your pir, your wali to give it to you. When Prophet (s) is happy with someone in the Ummah, he reveals to the heart of his wali, “Give to your follower.” Like so many awliya, Ahmad al-Badawi (q), Bayazid al-Bistami (q), there are so many stories about them saying, “O Allah! Open Your Divine Presence to us!” That’s what every wali wants. In every human being, Allah gave that Noor, heavenly Light. Mu’mins grab it, took it and worked on it and it became Noor, increasing more and more. A Muslim grabbed it, but did not work on it:

The Arabs declare, "We believe." Say (to them), "You do not; rather say, 'We submit,' because belief has not yet found its way into your hearts. If you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not reduce

a thing from your deeds. Allah is the Oft-Forgiving and the Most Merciful." (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:14)

“Don’t say, ‘We are mu’min,’ say, ‘We are Muslim,” until imaan enters your heart. That’s something else, a different level, but you are a Muslim when you say, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah,” and you will enter Paradise. For imaan, you grab and put that on a railroad track going straight-forward, and the engine of your locomotive is working.. For a Muslim, still his imaan, that engine, is one day ‘yes’ and one day ‘no’:

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواْ ثُمَّ آمَنُواْ ثُمَّ كَفَرُواًْ

Those who believe then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:137)

Thumma aamanoo, thumma kafaroo. Here ‘kafaroo’ doesn’t mean “unbelief”, but “making mistakes.” One day they are strong Believers not making mistakes and one day they make mistakes: one moment you are in good shape and another moment you are in bad shape. Some of them are thummaz'daadu kufran, “Then they increased in unbelief,” while others increased in imaan. You have to choose! We must know that we are weak servants of Allah (swt), which is why we have to keep our prayers because they take us to the Divine Presence.

When you pray, you are bayni yadillah `azza wa jal, between the Hands of Allah. When you enter the prayer, where are you going? You must remember that you are in the Divine Presence: your soul is there when you say “Allahu Akbar.” From teachings of Imam Abu Hanifa (q), in the Hanafi School you say, “Allahu Akbar” once and begin the prayer. In the Shafi`ee School they are more strict: they say “Allahu Akbar” very strongly [only after fully focussing on presence of Ka`ba], then fold their arms on their chest, they emphasize the takbeer to block gossips that try to interfere in the prayer.

Imam Abu Hanifa (r) said, “Yaa Rabbee, we are weak servants!” O our Lord, whoever says “Allahu Akbar” enters the prayers easily. So from one madhhab to another, Allah (swt) granted His mercy and gave us easy ways; Ikhtilaf al-Ummah is a mercy from Allah with which we can manage, or else we will have a bad ending if we depend on our ego.

May (swt) Allah forgive us. May Allah bless this event this evening. Anyone who fasted Ashura today, yesterday, or will tomorrow, the day is not as important as our niyyah to remember how Ahlu ‘l-Bayt and Sayyidina Husayn (r) were massacred. Everyone who observed that or thought about the suffering of Sayyidina al-Husayn (r) will never see suffering or pain on the Day of Judgement, as by his Shifa`ah, Prophet (s) will take that `abd and send him to Paradise. Ahlu 'l-Bayt are rahmah for the Ummah! Allah's Rahmat is with the Ahlu 'l-Bayt, they carry it.

We hope Allah will keep us on the engine that is pulling the cars of the train, so that when you jump on any car it will take you in that mercy, even the last car. The engine pulls hundreds of car, so don’t worry, even on the last one you will be carried with the rest!

Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the mercy of Allah. for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surat az-Zumar, 39:53)

Don’t lose hope! Allah gave us hope that He will forgive all sins: Innahu huwa ‘l-Ghafoor ar-Raheem, s He is The All-Forgiving, The Most Merciful, so don’t lose hope, w'atba` al-sayyi`at hasanah, “Follow the sin with something good,” as immediately it will be erased if you follow it with something good, so say “Astaghfirullah” immediately and the sin is erased. It is written in the Holy Qur’an to follow the wrong with good, hasanaat, then the sin is erased from your book.

Yaa Rabb! We have too many mistakes that the angels are writing on our left shoulder. Yaa Rabb, with Your mercy and Your forgiveness that You sent to Ummat an-Nabi (s), erase all the sins on our left shoulder and give us the rewards on the right shoulder. Allah does not only erase the sin but He also rewards you with ten hasanaat, because when you do one hasanaat Allah gives ten! So when you do something wrong and making a mistake, a sin, follow it with hasanah, goodness, and you will erase the mistake and get ten rewards. Look at the huge benefit ! Every time we know that we did something wrong, we must immediately say, “Astaghfirullah,” or, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah.” When a non-Muslim says one time, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah,” h becomes Muslim and all his sins are erased, so what do you think happens when a Muslim says “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah,” won;t his sins also be erased? Allah erased the sins of the unbeliever, will He not erase the sins of a Believer?

My mercy extends to all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who do right and practice regular charity, and those who believe in Our Signs. (Surat al-`Araaf, 7:156)

“My Mercy has encompassed everything.” O People of Ahlu ‘s-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah! Look forward to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), love him more than you love your family or yourself! He is your ramz, symbol, your leader. Hold fast to the Ahlu ‘l-Bayt, the Family of Prophet (alayhi salam). If we hold onto one of them, their jubbah or cloak (Sunnah), they will take us wherever they go! Mention their names, say, “Yaa Sayyidina al-Hasan wa’l-Husayn, yaa Ahbaabi Rasoolullah!” What is the problem? Prophet (s) carried them on his shoulders! When he was in sajda and they jumped on his back and sometimes they stayed one hour, but he did not raise his head or disturb them. That is how he was with them, not like parents today who beat their children with a stick or their shoes. Some Muslims beat their children and even their wives, but they don't beat their dogs, they call their dogs, “Yaa Habeebee!” Some rich people even bequeath (will) all their money to dog shelters, not to homeless shelters that serve people. It is okay, but give to poor people and at least treat them as well as you treat your dog, don't beat them up. Prophet (s) never raised his hand to his wives, and the ignorant accuse Islam of promoting domestic violence. I published a fatwa, The Prohibition of Domestic Violence in Islam, available at http://isn1.net/products/the-prohibition-on-domestic-violence-in-islam

May Allah bless all of you. Inshaa-Allah we will see you tomorrow. Ladies took their shares, they visited the Holy Hair of Holy Prophet (s) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), so now we will arrange for the brothers to make ziyara and first we will renew our bay`a.
