Seek the Power of the Greatest Name of Allah (swt)

Shaykh Nour Mohamad Kabbani

19 May 2024 Toronto Zawiya, Canada

From Mawlana Shaykh Nazim's Personal Notes

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Dastoor, yaa Sayyidi, Qutbu ‘l-Mutassarif. Madad, yaa Sultan al-Awliya. Nazhrak himmatak, yaa Sayyidee al-Kareem. Dastoor, yaa Sayyidee wa Mawlay. Yaa Habeebana wa yaa tabeeba quloobina, Sayyidina Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani.

Our way is the way of Insaan al-Kaamil. If you are on this way, you have to do your best to follow that way as Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) has said, Allah (swt) has taught Rasoolullah (s) the best of adab. I heard Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) say so many times the following, asta`eedhu billah: adabanee Rabbee faa ahsana tadeebi. Rasoolullah (s) has said, “My Lord has taught me manners. He perfected my manners.”

That is the adab of, Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. The secret and Noor in those Holy Words contain the three Names of Allah (swt), which contain Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham. If you can find Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, you can travel the Heavens and earth with the power of, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” Don’t underestimate the power of, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem,” carried Sayyidina Nuh (a) in the tufaan, the flood. What did Sayyidina Nuh (a) say? Bismillahi majrayha wa mursaha.

So he said: "Embark you all on the Ark, In the name of Allah, whether it move or be at rest! For my Lord is, be sure, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful!" (Surah Hud, 11:41)

By the power of “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” planks and nails. That was it. In the middle of the desert, Sayyidina Nuh (a) put some planks together and nailed them. With, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” that ship floated. That is the power, Noor, Light and protection of, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) also said when Sayyidina Adam (a) was told to get out of Heavens onto earth, he was coming down free falling. The earth opened up to swallow him because he had disobeyed.

When you disobey Allah (swt), everything around you wants to devour you and destroy you. The earth was going to swallow Sayyidina Adam (a) because of its anger, coupled with the anger of Allah (swt). A voice came saying, “Yaa Adam! Say, ‘Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem,’” That was Sayyidina Muhammad (s). That is what our teacher has said. Sayyidina Adam (a) said, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” and he was not swallowed. He stayed put. That was his protection.

Protection, safety and power is in, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem” contains all the names of Allah (swt) that have been given to malaa’ikah, Angels, Anbiya, Prophets, and the nations. The malaa’ikah were given 1,000 Names. Anbiya were given 1,000 Names. The nations were given 300 Names in the Torah, 300 Names in the Bible, 300 Names in the Zaboor (Psalms of David) and 99 Names in the Qur’an. What is left? One. That is Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham. If you can find that, you have harnessed the power of, “Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.”

We have solar parks here in America. Do we eat solar panels? They have taken over the fields and the farms, but they are facing the sun. What happens? They harness the energy and then they distribute it. Awliyaullah face toward Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham as representatives of that sun. They harness that energy and they give it for the benefit of humanity. If you can know Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham and turn to Him and harness that energy, you will be Waliyullah. You will be one who benefits Awliyaullah and the ones who follow them because Awliyaullah are in layers. You have the Qutb, the 3, the 5, the 7, the 40, the 70 and then you have the 313 and so forth. They are all layers and all are serving Ummatu ‘l-Habeeb (s). All over the world they are serving other nations: the Jewish nation, the Christian nation, whatever.

Each Waliyullah represents a Nabiullah. There is a Waliyullah representing Sayyidina `Isa (a) and serving his nation. There is a Waliyullah representing Sayyidina Musa (a) and serving his nation. These are all the words of our master, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). There are Awliyaullah representing Anbiya. That is what they call, `alaa qadamu ‘n-nabiyyin mursal. There are 313 at the feet of Nabiun-Mursal and they represent every messenger and their nations. If you know Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, use it to benefit human beings. That is Insaan al-Kaamil.

What is Insaan al-Kaamil? How can you be Insaan al-Kaamil? Don’t waste your time bickering with others, tit and tat, “you say, I say,” “he says, she says,” “they say, we say.” Leave the bickering and the antagonizing and all the stuff that has no meaning. Try to be Insaan al-Kaamil. What is Insaan al-Kaamil? I’ll give you two examples that I heard of, one from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and one from Awliyaullah.

There was a mureed like us who came to the shaykh and said, “Yaa Sayyidee! I want to know Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham.” Why do we come here? To fly. Why do we come here? To disappear here and appear there. Why do we come here? To become special and perform miracles. It is the nonsense of every mureed around the world. It is the nonsense of every Muslim and mu’min following spiritual ways. They want to be special. They want to be the special ones who stand out and everybody worships you. You come from the stairs like Jesus wearing all white. They have some fools with long beards, long hair and white robes from top to bottom. He is coming from his home on the hill and all the mureeds are at the bottom. He’s coming down and everybody says, “Ohh.”

That’s what the spiritual ones in America want, and the spiritual ones in Europe and the Arabs and the Turks. That is not the way. When you turn yourself to Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, you are harnessing energy and that energy will be given to benefit.

This mureed came to this Waliyullah and said:

“Yaa Sayyidee! I want to learn Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham.”

He asked, “What do you want to do with Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham?”

“I want to do amazing things.”

“Why don’t you first go to the door of the city and see what happens. Come back and tell me.”

He went to the door of the city and stayed there for a few hours. There are guards at the door like in Morocco. It’s beautiful. I remember in Tangiers there is a gate, so if the gate is up, you cannot enter the city. He went to the gate and sat. After a while, an old lumberjack came. He had put all of his logs on his poor donkey that doesn’t say anything. One of the guards wanted to play with him. You know how the guards are sometimes. They think that they are so powerful. Mashaa-Allah. They have a sword, a spear, a weapon, taser or baton. Mashaa-Allah, you love your batons.

He looks at the man and without saying anything, he beats him down, takes the logs and donkey and leaves. The mureed is watching. When your shaykh sends you, your gaze has to be to learn a lesson. Fa`’tabiroo yaa ooli ’l-absaar, “Take warning, then, O you with eyes (to see).”

He went back and his shaykh asked, “What did you see?” He said, “Yaa Sayyidee, such and such.” He said, “If you knew Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, what would you have done?” He said, “If I knew Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham and I had that power, I would beat the guard up, take the logs and donkey back and return them to the old me.” He said, “O my son! Do you know that old man is the teacher who taught me Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham. The one who is licensed to carry Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham has mercy towards all humanity, to all creation.” That one only wants, shafaqah `alaa khalqillah wa ta`zheem li amrillah.

Two things: you honor the Order of Allah (swt). That is between you and Him. It is `ibaadah, worship. And you have shafaqah, compassion on the creation of Allah (swt). That is `uboodiya, servanthood. You serve them.

He said, “If you don’t reach that level of shafaqah, of compassion and kindness and tenderness towards the creation of Allah (swt), you don’t have the license. You are not worthy of carrying

Insaan al-Kaamil is like the ocean. Have you heard that phrase before? Excuse my French, when somebody pees in the ocean, the ocean purifies that dirtiness. That urine will not dirty the ocean. At the same time, if you are impure and you go into the ocean and say, “I want to make ghusl,” that ocean will purify you and will give you ghusl. You can just immerse yourself and you will come out clean and pure, tahir. What happens to the ocean? Nothing. The ocean did not get dirty.

Insaan al-Kaamil purifies all dirtiness, whatever is thrown into it, it purifies it. As that Waliyullah has explained, we forgive anybody who hurts us or harms us or says something wrong about us or bad words about us. Why? Because we do not see these words coming from him. We do not see these bad actions against us coming from him. Awliyaullah say, “We turn to the One Who has created everything.” Wallahu khalaqum wa ma ta`maloon.

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

"But Allah has created you and your handwork! (Surat as-Saffat, 37:96)

Allah (swt) has created you and has created what you do because of your intention. Don’t say, “Allah (swt) made me do wrong.” No, you are on a train track. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) has said you are on a train track. In the middle there is a signal, “This train is coming.” There are two ways. Do they have it now? On the railway tracks they shift you from track to track. There is a man there. If the train is coming, he asks, “Which way is he going?” That way. The thing moves and you go that way.

It is up to your intention. You are a train coming on the track. What is your intention? Malaa’ikah are looking. If your intention is good, you go the way of Jannah. If your intention is bad, you go to the way of Jahannam. You do that action because of your intention, not because Allah (swt) made you do it. That thing that shifts you from one track to the next is your amal. According to your amal you shift.

Insaan al-Kaamil says, “We do not look at what happens to us from people, what words are said or what things are done because to wish badness for them, to wish revenge for them is shirk in our way. Why? Because we look where it’s coming from. We look at the source.” The source is Allah (swt). Khayrihi wa sharrihi, its good and its bad.

Insaan al-Kaamil does not respond to every action that is done against him. Insaan al-Kaamil does not respond to words that are said to them. They see it coming from Allah (swt) and they say, “Yaa Rabbee! We forgive.” Because they look at what Allah (swt) has written for them.

The way that we are following here, if you want to know Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, if you want to represent the one who is carrying the Noor and the libaas, the dress of Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, you have to be on that heart, the heart of Sayyidina Ibrahim (a). It is said in every century there are seven hearts on the heart of Sayyidina Ibrahim (a). These hearts only wish goodness for people, only wish the best for people. They harness that energy coming from the representative of Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham and that is Rasoolullah (s). They take what is coming and they distribute through their little wires to whomever connected their homes to them. Your home is your heart. If you have extended a wire from your heart to the little station that is in your town, you have light. Otherwise, you have darkness.

That little station in your town is connected to a bigger station, and the bigger stations are connected to even bigger stations. Mashaa-Allah on your Highway 401 I see these big towers all in a row. They are transferring electricity. I never saw such huge towers. I know of the littles in my village and they’re almost falling. The higher you go, the wires go up until you reach that sun. That is the energy. That is the representative of Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham. Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham contains all the Names. If you know Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, you are representing that sun. When you represent that sun, all you do is benefit others, all you do is lighten the hearts of others. You don’t put more stress in their hearts, more darkness, more sadness and sorrow, division and separation in their hearts. That is not representative of Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham. That is not the representative of the representative as Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) used to say. Grandshaykh used to call himself Saahibu ‘z-Zaman. In reality, Saahibu ‘z-Zaman is Rasoolullah (s).

Allah says:

وَٱلْعَصْرِ

Wa’l-`Asr.

By Time. (Surat al-Asr, 103:1)

Allah (swt) is making an oath by time. Why? Because within time is the movement of the risaalah of Rasoolullah (s). Time is the vehicle that carries the Nuboowat, the Wilayat, the Risaalat, the Khilafat of Rasoolullah (s) throughout time. That is Sahibu ‘z-Zaman, the Owner of Time.

Wa ‘l-`Asr. Allah (swt) is making qasm by time because it contains the secret and Noor of Rasoolullah (s).

اللهم صل وسلم على سيدنا محمد النور الذاتي والسر الساري في سائر الأسماء والصفات.

Allahumma salli wa sallim `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad an-noori ’dh-dhaatee wa’s-sirr as-saaree fee saa’iri ’l-Asmaa’i wa’s-Sifaat. Yaa Rabbee! Send Your Salaam on the Noor of Dhaat and His Secret that is moving in all the Names and Attributes. Rasoolullah (s) is not like you and me. Our esteemed brother used to say, “We are pebbles and he is the gem.” We are all pebbles. Know yourself. You are a pebble, but that pebble can become of service. You can even put it up front here to prevent the weed from coming, right Shaykh Taher? At your old house, alhamdulillah, there are some rocks. I don’t see too many weeds coming out. Even little pebbles prevent the thorny, harmful weed from coming out. Don’t underestimate a pebble. It can have a function. Allah (swt) did not create anything without wisdom. Everything has wisdom.

That shaykh is telling that mureed, “If you want to be worthy of carrying Ismullahu ‘l-`Azham, you have to accept what might happen to you from others coming down on you and crushing you.” What do you say? You move and say, “Yaa Rabbee! I have forgiven him. It is halal for him. I don’t want anything from him.” If you want something bad to happen to him then that is shirk in our way. You are putting your ego as your master. What do we do with this guy? “Oh my beloved friend! What do you think is the best thing to do? Maybe I should follow him to his house. Let me see where he lives first and I can slowly start. Everyday I will do something. First to his mailbox then his window.” Astaghfirullah.

Don’t befriend that ego of yours. That is the shirk when your ego starts ordering you around. Insaan al-Kaamil is the one who understands the source and wants to be a rahmah to the creation, representing the Absolute Rahmah to humanity. If you want to represent that Holy One, you have to be like them. You have to be of service to others. May Allah (swt) allow us to be like the ocean that takes all dirtiness in and doesn’t get dirty. The dirtiness is cleansed. The dirty person comes inside and becomes taahir. The ocean does not become dirty. That’s what you need to do. That’s what you need to reach. Inshaa-Allah, we can reach that way. Ameen. How do you reach that way? Adab.

ادبني ربي فاحسن تاديبي

Adabanee Rabbee fa ahsana taa’deebee.

The Prophet (s) said, “My Lord has given me the best of manners and He has perfected my manners.”

Follow the ones who have followed the ones who have followed the ones, so from Siddiq (r) came down, from Sayyidina `Ali (r) came down and from other Sahaabah according to their stations and what Allah (swt) has given them. They have also propagated that adab that Rasoolullah (s) taught his Sahaabah.

Alhamdulillah, we have received a drop but that drop is more than enough for us. Inshaa-Allah, we can keep that drop and pass it along to others. Don’t fight with others. Don’t wish bad for others. Forgive and move in the Ocean of Rahmah of Allah (swt) and inshaa-Allah, you can be from the pure ones. Ameen, yaa Rabbi ‘l-`Alameen.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb (s) wa bi hurmati ’l-Fatihah.
