A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta'ala al-`Azheem fee hadha 'l-masjid.
Allah gave awliyaullah a knowledge that tuhayyir al-`ulama, astonished scholars. Scholars know what they read, that this one said this and that one said that, but beyond that their knowledge is restricted and limited. Awliyaullah’s knowledge has no limitation because it is `Uloom al-Haqaa’iq, Knowledge of Realities, and a reality cannot be restricted as it must give its essence and it must come from something real. When `ulama write a fatwa or read (declare) something, they don’t know if it will be a real fatwa. It is based on:
الحلال بين والحرام بين
The permitted is clear and the forbidden is clear.
The halaal is known and the haraam is known, and in-between halaal and haraam comes the fatwa of scholars about which sometimes they are not certain, but they build it on the principles of what is between halaal and haraam. They don’t fall within what is haraam, they try as much as possible to fall within what is halaal, but still there is room in-between upon which to build their fatwa. So that is why the Prophet (s) said:
idha asaab al-haakim lahu ajraan wa in lam yusib fa lahu ajar.
When the judge gives a ruling, if he is correct he gets double the reward and if he is incorrect then he gets one reward, which is what we say of `uloom al-`ulama. However, the knowledge of awliya is completely different, in fact it is astonishing, it stuns `ulama and they cannot understand it, such as in the case of Sayyidina Muhiyyidin ibn `Arabi (q), Sayyidina ‘Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q), Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) and Rabi`a al-`Adawiyya said. It is very difficult to explain, and what we are discussing here is from traces of Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani and Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil, may Allah bless their souls, who expressed to us from their inspired knowledge that becomes like real facts because they are taking it directly from the heart of the Prophet (s) through the chain of secrets from the heart of one shaykh to another, regarding which this is a brief introduction.
We said in the previous session that Allah called his Prophet (s) on Laylat al-Israa wal-Mi`raj to deliver to him his trusts. Whatever is under at station of Sayyidina Jibreel (a) and lower, He gave Prophet (s) all those realities in order to save his Ummah from wrongdoing, which is why he (s) related the Hadith:
قال رسول الله ص حياتي خير لكم تحدثون ويحدث لكم ومماتي خير لكم تعرض علي أعمال لكم فإن وجدت خيراً حمدت الله وما وجدت غير ذلك استغفرت لكم.
My life is a great good for you: you relate from it and narrations are related to you. And my death contains good for you as well, for I observe the `amal of my Ummah. If I find good I thank Allah, and if I see other than that, bad, I ask forgiveness for you. (al-Bazzaar in his Musnad)
That is to save the Ummah from punishment. Anything that in the station of Jibreel and lower is from `Uloom ash-Shara`, because Jibreel was revealing to the Prophet (s), and from that station and above is from the `Uloom al-Haqaa’iq that Allah (swt) gave to the Prophet (s) when Sayyidina Jibreel said to him, “I cannot go any further, I reached the limit. You go on ahead.” Grandshaykh said that as the Prophet (s) was moving from the station of Jibreel to the Divine Presence, in that journey Allah revealed to him the secret of the Holy Qur’an, because from Jibreel’s Station and lower is what we read and understand of the Holy Qur’an from the explanation of the Prophet (s) and what different Sahaabah (r) heard from him, but from the Station of Jibreel and higher is where all 300,000 letters of Holy Qur’an are such a deep ocean that when you dive in it you cannot find its bottom!
Allah was opening that, revealing to the Prophet (s) from those knowledges, and from the secrets Allah (swt) was opening the Manifestation of the 99 Beautiful Names and Attributes, which has no partner, shareek lahu. That is why `ulama say the real worshipper, muwahhid, the real one who testified to the Oneness of Allah truly is Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because he saw the Revelations and Manifestations of these Names and Attributes that appeared to him, and from them he understood the Divine Oneness!
When you add the 99 Names, the answer is “9”. 99 = 9 + 9 = 18 and 1 + 8 = 9. In numerology “9” is 0, zero; nothing exists except Allah (swt). So the only one that can be described as the real muwahhid, who testifies, “Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llaah” is Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Not like us; we are muwahhid according to the station we are in, struggling between good and bad, and therefore, our station is thumma aamanoo thumma kafaroo, one day in belief, the next day in unbelief. [Surat al-Nisaa’, 4:137] We have not yet reached the level of belief, only Sayyidina Muhammad (s) has.
Allah (swt) did not speak to the Prophet (s) according to the understanding of “Rasoolullah” (s), who is carrying the Message, as the Message Prophet (s) is bringing to humanity is from the Station of Jibreel (as) and lower, and what Allah (swt) granted the Prophet (s) is higher than that. He isn’t Rasoolullah (s) only to humanity only, he is also Rasoolullah (s) to angels and to all Creation! So they have a different knowledge and what it is we don’t know, but it is from the Appearance of the 99 Names. Allah (swt) spoke to him from the Khaamis al-Qur'an as the guardian of these secrets which are above the position of Sayyidina Jibreel (a), so Khaamis al-Qur'an is something huge that we cannot see nor understand, and Allah (swt) sai, wa laa yushaarik feehi ahada, “It is only for him (s) and he has no partner in it,” not any other prophet (s) and not awliyaullah except according to their capacity. No one can be partner to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in that knowledge.
Grandshaykh said for that reason Allah (swt) called the Prophet (s) to deliver those treasures and everything that the Prophet (s) took is between him and Allah (swt), no one knows what has been given. So the meaning of what we are saying is that no one knows that secret that happened between Allah (swt) and the Prophet (s) on Laylat al-Isra wa’l-Mi`raaj except Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! That secret is between them, as mentioned in the Seerah that in Laylat al-Isra wa’l-Mi`raj the Prophet (s) saw his Creator with the eyes of his head! That means the reality of the Manifestation of the Divine Essence that Allah wanted Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to know was seen by the Prophet (s) with his physical eyes, not with his spirit as contemporary scholars mention. Specifically Shaykh Sha`rawi and Imam an-Nawawi said the Prophet (s), “Saw his Lord with the eyes of his head.”
When Sayyidina al-Mahdi (a) comes, at that time traces of the secret of Khaamis al-Quran, the fifth of the Divine Books which is the Holy Qur'an, will be given to the Ummah. That is why when the Prophet (s) was describing that, Sayyidina `Umar (r) asked, “Are those people going to be prophets?”
The Prophet (s) said, “No, they are not prophets.”
Sayyidina `Umar (r) said, “What are they then, that they have such high levels that we never heard of?”
The Prophet (s) said, “They are normal people. When they go to pray, they don’t know how many raka`ats they prayed; they pray three, four, five or seven raka`ats and think, ‘Did I pray two or three?’ Then they add one or two and it becomes six, then they are distracted and forgot how many raka`ats they prayed.”
Don’t think it didn’t happen, it happened, even with me, and it happens with everyone; that is not something strange. Prophet (s) if describing, “They are going to be like that,” Prophet (s) said it, but Allah’s Mercy will be so huge at that time, it cannot be described, and because of that Allah (swt) will give them things that others did not see. And as we said, no one can reach higher than the rank of the Sahaabah (r), they are Prophet’s Companions!
Grandshaykh said that at that moment what took place between Allah (swt) The Creator, of what He gave to His Prophet (s), whatever secret was given there no one knows, and Allah ordered Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to call his Ummah and speak to them. According to the voice of Holy Qur’an, Allah said to Sayyidina Muhammad (s), “I gave you the secrets and gave you everything, but I revealed to you in the Holy Qur'an:
لاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللّهُ نَفْسًا إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا
On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:286)”
“Allah does not burden anyone more than what he can carry; according to what they can take, you deliver.” What can we take? Nothing! We took only a little of what happened that night and what we take is from the level of Jibreel (a) and lower. Since we were not able to take, whatever that miqdaar, amount was not more than the Manifestation of the Beautiful Name “ar-Rahmaan”. All the knowledge that was given, even all knowledge of prophets, Sahaabah and awliya, all they are bringing that `ulama are stunned by, they are still only from the drop of that Ocean of the Name ‘ar-Rahmaan’. Allaahu laa ilaaha illa Huwa ‘r-Rahmaan! All we see in university books in Arabic, English, Persian, Hindu, Japanese are from the Manifestations of the Appearances of that Name, and that part is only a drop, still there is more to come that is not opened except to Prophet (s), but not until the Sayyidina Mahdi (s) comes because that power has to back up that knowledge. In the Last Days these knowledges will appear so quickly that you will not be able to study at that time. When that reality comes, all what they are teaching in the university will become elementary like the alphabet, Alif, Baa, like when they first teach a child, “A” is for “apple”, “B” is for “boy”, “C” is for “candy”, and “D” is for “donkey”. That is it, that is what we are learning.
When Sayyidina Mahdi (a) comes, all the huge university knowledge of science, physics and astronomy will stop and will no longer have importance, it will become obsolete, and Sayyidina Mahdi (a) comes with knowledge that is not obsolete. He has to open it because Prophet (s) has given it, but how to give it? Through reflections. You know mirror you can direct it any way you like and eyes of people will be reflecting that knowledge to anyone they want from Sayyidina Mahdi (as) to eyes of his caliphas and from caliphas to deputies and from deputies to the different leaders. And from leaders moving very quickly. Today they show sometimes movies that they put for you a new knowledge a lot of knowledge through a lot of reflections or put a chip in your body and then a lot of knowledges are there. You saw that. No, come I show you.
The Prophet (s) was ordered to open only from that Name. wa ummiru bi tilka al-ayaat - He was ordered to reveal those verses of Holy Qur’an in that capacity, in that position and in that level, but in the level of the 99 Names that are at the level of Sayyidina Jibreel (a) and above, the Prophet (s) was not ordered to open that to the Ummah, and was not ordered to reveal it and he spoke according to what our hearts can take. If that knowledge will be opened, our hearts cannot take it and they will break and everyone will faint and there will be no more life on Earth nor in the universe. A little bit will be opened in he ttime of Mahdi and all of it will be opened in Paradise. In that night, the third knowledge that Allah gave to the Prophet (s) in that Ascension was when Allah showed him all 124,000 awliyaullah He had created in every time.
It means anyone that passes away, another comes in his place, so at all thimes there are 124,000 living awliyaullah, as mentioned:
رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا
Men that kept their covenant with Allah (swt) and some passed and some are waiting.
(Surat al-Ahzaab, 33:23)
Those who passed are replaced by another; it might be in every moment one is dying and another is coming. Allah showed Sayyidina Muhammad (s) all these awliya, who are assistants to the Prophet (s), `awn ar-Rasool (s), “I order they will be able to assist and support the Prophet (s),” and He called him to give him al-quwatta ‘l-qudsiyya, the sanctified or holy power from the azaaliyya `abaadiyya, pre-Eternal to post-Eternal. That power must be dressed on the Prophet (s) and from him it must be dressed on the saints that are in this presence. “These are your assistants. Dress them from that sanctified power. If you don’t dress them they cannot carry that work. They have to carry that power.”
“When he gave him that permission to use that power, Prophet (s) dressed every wali by himself and then in that Divine Presence was dressed with the holy power of that wali and that is why we see many different levels of awliya and, therefore, you cannot say your shaykh is the only wali because there are a lot of walis around. You focus solely on your shaykh as that is your duty: that is where we are connected and where our duty lies. And when he dressed him with what Allah gave him, and he dressed the awliyaullah, then Allah opened to him the meaning of:
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ
We have honored the Children of Adam. (Surat al-Israa’, 17:70)
So when that verse was revealed, Prophet (s) was brought inside to be shown what Allah honored them and awliyaullah were astonished and stunned with what they saw, the real honor Allah had given to human beings and who will appear under that verse and the Manifestation of Holy Qur'an. They could not say anything! Then after that third level, Prophet (s) dressed the awliyaullah and took them into that ocean and took all the atoms and offspring of human beings clean, and then you are as on the Day of Promises, clean.
يولد الانسان على الفطرة ، فأبواه يهودانه أو ينصرانه أو يمجسانه.
Man is born upon fitra (innocence), but it is his parents who make him a Jew, a Christian or a Magian.
He showed them the purity in which human beings are born and then He showed them to Sayyidina
Muhammad (s) and said, “They are clean. Do you like to keep them in trust?” Prophet (s) said, "Na`m yaa Rabbee,” and Allah gave them, which is why He gave the Prophet (s) shafa`ah, to intercede for the Ummah. What happened next we will leave for next time.
Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
