As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.
Alhamdulillahi ‘lladhee hadaana li ‘l-Islam wa-maa kunna la-nahtadee law laa hadaanallah `ibaadAllah fee kulli makaan wa fee kulli zamaan. Ad-deenu huwa ’d-deen, wa ’n-naseehatu an-naseehah. Haithu qaala al-nabiyy salallahu `alayhi wa-sallam ad-deenu naseeha, ad-deenu naseeha, ad-deenu nasheeha.
Religion is Based on Sincerity
O Muslim brothers and sisters from around the world who are watching and hearing us. Our Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) brought us the religion of Islam, the religion of peace and moderation, the religion of tolerance and acceptance, the religion of harmony and happiness, the religion of love. He didn’t bring to us a religion of hatred, he didn’t bring a religion of miseries, he didn’t bring us a religion of slandering, he didn’t bring to us a religion of arrogance, but he brought for us a religion, where he said in his Hadith:
إِنَّ الدِّينَ النَّصِيحَةُ, إِنَّ الدِّينَ النَّصِيحَةُ, إِنَّ الدِّينَ النَّصِيحَةُ
Religion is sincerity, religion is sincerity (an-nasihah), religion is sincerity.
(Narrated Abu Hurayrah, Nasa’ee)
And he repeated it three times, ad-deenu naseeha, ad-deenu naseeha, ad-deenu naseeha, “Religion is advice,” which means you can understand the greatness of your religion by listening to advice. From anyone you can take an advice, from a poor one, from a contractor, from a Member of Parliament, from common people like you and him. You can take naseeha from anyone and listen to it, then if you like it you can do it, if you don’t like it don’t bother with it, keep it on the side. Prophet (s) didn’t say an-naseeha is to fight and to hate and to produce slander, he didn’t say advice is to attack each other.
Deen al-Islam deen al-mahabba, “The religion of Islam is the religion of love,” al-hubb al-ilaahi, “The heavenly love, the love of the Divine Presence, the love of Allah (swt).” If anyone of us claims he loves Allah, he has no right to slander any other human being! Whatever that human being is saying or acting you don’t, you have no reason for slandering each other. That’s why we, from this place, we condemn terrorism, we condemn extremism, we condemn anything [morally wrong or unlawful] that is being done in the name of Islam! This is our point of view and this is our belief.
The Main Advice for Us
When Prophet (s) said ad-deenu naseeha, “Religion is advice,” his Companions (r) asked him, Li-man yaa Rasoolullah? “Take advice from whom, O Rasulullah?” He (s) said, “Advice is first for Allah (swt), to give advice to people to love Allah (swt), to follow His commands, to follow obedience to Allah, to follow obedience to Prophet (s), to love Prophet (s).” He said, lillaahi wa li-rasoolihi wa li ‘l-mu’mineen, “Advice is for Allah, for the Prophet and for the Believers.” That means He made us all mu’min, that means you have to make naseeha, take it from mu’mins and work on it, not slandering each other. We are weak servants, we are helpless, if we are not going to be one person in unity we will be losing and we don’t want to lose, we want to always be standing in the Divine Presence praising Allah (swt) and praising Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!
Honor Allah and Prophet in Circles of Dhikr: “I am with the One Who Remembers Me”
Allah (swt) said:
وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Honor and greatness is for Allah (swt), for Prophet (s) and for Believers. (Surat al-Munaafiqoon, 63:8)
Narju ‘Llah `azza wa-jall. We hope and we ask Allah (swt) to make us honored and to honor us with iman, to honor us with Islam. This association here is an association of Heavens, where angels are coming and participating in this meeting, and it is not my words, it’s the Hadith of Prophet (s):
إن لله عز وجل ملائكة يطوفون في الطرقات يلتمسون مجالس الذكر
Truly Allah has angels circling the streets searching for the gatherings of dhikr. (Bukhari)
Allah has angels that He sent in the streets of dunya and they are looking for wherever mu’min are sitting and remembering Allah (swt), yaltamisoona majaalis adh-dhikr, they look where is a circle of dhikr like this one, a remembrance of our Lord, Allah (swt), and they come and sit with us. Do you see them, you see them? Say “Yes!” Prophet (s) said these angels come and sit with you when you are doing dhikrullah. So do you see them? Yes, Prophet (s ) is seeing them, so we hope that we see them. So when we say “yes” it means tammanee, wishing and asking Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee, let us see them!” that we are not keeping quiet, silent. So do you see them? [Yes!] So they are sitting with us and Allah (swt) made not only angels able to sit with the people reciting dhikr, but Allah said in a Holy Hadith directly to Prophet (s) to reveal to the Ummah:
أَنَا جَلِيْسُ مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي
I sit with him who remembers Me. (Hadith Qudsi. Ahmad, Bayhaqi)
“I am with the one who remembers Me.” The literal meaning is, “I sit with the one who remembers Me.” What a greatness, what a happiest of all moments, when Allah says through His Messenger (s), anaa jaleesu man dhakaranee, “I am sitting with the one who remembers Me. I am his companion, I am His friend.” Allah is saying that to Prophet (s) and Prophet (s) is revealing it to the Ummah. So do you like to be friends of Allah (swt)? [Yes!] Then love Allah (swt), then love Prophet (s), remember him!
Leave Others to Their Games and Say “Allah”
Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur’an: Qul yaa Muhammad, “Say to them, O Muhammad,” and ‘to them’ means all of us, Qul, Allah, “Say, ‘Allah!’” It is Allah’s order to Prophet (s). When we say “Allah” Heavens and Earth will respond to us; Allah orders Heavens and Earth to respond to you when you mention His Great Name, Ismullah `Azham, “Allah”.
قُلِ الله ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
Say "Allah," then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling. (Surat al-An`am, 6:91)
Say “Allah”, the Name that encompasses all Ninety-Nine Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah (swt)! What Allah said? “O Muhammad! Tell the Ummah to say ‘Allah’ and leave the rest to play with Shaytan, with Iblees, with whatever they like, and be careful. Tell the Muslims, the Believers to say, ‘Allah!’” Then, when you say “Allah”, will Allah leave you to Shaytan?
O Muslims! When we say “Allah”, let’s say someone is not Muslim and he wants to become a Muslim, what does he say? “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah”, and he becomes a Muslim. Can anyone say he is not a Muslim? No way! Even you heard it from him one time and you did not see him doing the other obligations, still you cannot say that he is not Muslim!
من قال لا اله الا الله دخل الجنة
Whoever says ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ enters Paradise. (Abu Ya`laa, Musnad)
Say it now, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah”, you are in Paradise! Now we are entering the tunnel of Heaven, which everyone wishes to run to Heavens! So what did Allah say in Holy Qur’an, to run to Heaven?
Run to Allah!
فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ
Run to Allah (from all that is false and evil)! (Surat adh-Dhaariyaat, 51:50)
“Run to Allah (swt)”, not “run to Shaytan”, not “run to strand the people”, not “run to show your hate to people”. No! Allah is saying, “Run to Me!” Don't bother if you are upset with someone, don’t bother. Is it better to run to Prophet (s) or to run to someone else? Run to Prophet (s)! Leave the others, whatever they are leave them. Look at yourself, look at ourselves, it’s better to look at ourselves, to clean ourselves, take away that hatred from each other, because when we put hatred it will open a door for Shaytan to enter, slowly increasing that hatred until you cannot control yourself anymore, like we are seeing today in the Middle East, where groups of soldiers hate everyone, attack everyone, kill everyone, behead everyone and do all kinds of acts that are not accepted in Islam. Why do they do it? Because they let Shaytan enter their hearts and it made them drunk, until they don’t know what they are doing.
In every community there is the same, but on a different scale; they don’t kill, they don’t attack, but they fill their hearts with hatred against others, then they cannot live a nice life as every moment is consumed with thinking, “I hate this person, I hate that person!” Leave this person alone and look at your self! Don’t keep this or that person in your mind. That is our problem today: if someone sees someone better, they become jealous as they want no competing. Compete with maturity! Compete by doing better than that person, not hate him because he is doing more work than you. If Allah gave him some work and he is successful, don’t hate him, because then you are hating Allah (swt) as Allah did that. Allah’s Will is to make someone clever and intelligent, so ask Allah to make you clever and intelligent, don’t show your hate to that intelligent person. You are not going to take what is not yours; it’s impossible to take what is not written for you, just as no one can take what you have. So be happy and accept what Allah is giving you. This is a message to me, to you, to everyone, and to those who are hearing us.
فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ
Run to Allah (from all that is false and evil)! (Surat adh-Dhaariyaat, 51:50)
Run to Allah, not to run to Shaytan! Shaytan wants us to run to him in order to destroy our communities.
How to Go to the Rawdah
O Muslim! O mu’min! Allah granted us something precious! Who likes to go to Rawdah and pray two raka`ats? [Everyone!] What did Prophet (s) say to the Sahaabah (r)? How are you going to go to Rawdah when you are here? You need a transportation mechanism, you need a visa, tickets. What do you think if Allah ordered the angels to carry everyone in this meeting and bring them to Rawdah? [Yes!] Is He doing it? Yes, and the daleel is the Hadith of Prophet (s). If Sayyidina Sulayman (a) asked one of the biggest jinn, “Who can bring me the throne of Sheba?” One of the devils under the control of Sayyidina Sulayman (a), one of the giant ones said, “I will bring it to you before you leave your association,” which means he needs some time, but `Aaif Ibn Barkhiya, his minister said:
Answered he who was illumined by Revelation, “As for me, I shall bring it to you before the twinkling of your eye ceases!” And when he saw it truly before him, he exclaimed, “This is (an outcome) of my Sustainer’s Bounty to test me as to whether I am grateful or ungrateful! However, he who is grateful (to Allah) is but grateful for his own good, and he who is ungrateful, verily, my Sustainer is Self-Sufficient, The Most Generous!” (Surat an-Naml, 27:40)
“I can bring that throne of Sheba that is made of gold, diamonds and jewels in a blink of an eye from Yemen to Palestine!” How many hours to fly from Yemen to Palestine? Seven hours and for this you need a vehicle. That minister who had knowledge from the Book of Sayyidina Dawood (a), which was a little knowledge compared to Prophet (s), said, “I will get it in a blink of an eye,” which means he was able to transport the throne of Sheba from Yemen to Palestine in a moment!
That’s for the Nation of Sayyidina Dawood (a), so what do you think about the Nation of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)? Can’t they bring the throne of Sheba in the blink of an eye? Yes. Can Prophet (s) make this place a rawdah? Yes! He can make this meeting noor that goes to rawdah, because Prophet (s) said and pay attention:
"إِذَا مَرَرْتُمْ بِرِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ فَارْتَعُوا "قَالَ وَمَا رِيَاضُ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ " حِلَقُ الذِّكْرِ
Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (s) said: "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked: "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "The circles of dhikr." (Tirmidhi)
He said to the Sahaabah (r), “When you are passing in the alleys and the streets and you come to a group like this, sitting, sit with them.” Why? Because he (s) said, idhaa marartum bi riyaad al-jannati farta`oo. “When you are passing by the gardens of Heavens, sit there.” And they asked, Qaaloo wa ma riyaad al jannah? “What are these gardens of Heavens, we don’t know about them?” He (s) said hilaqu ’dh-dhikr, “The circles of dhikr,” like this here. This is a rawdah, the Manifestation of Allah’s Noor that He will send on the people who are sitting in such an association remembering Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s). It becomes rawdatun min riyaadi ’l-jannah. So do you like to be in riyaad al-jannah? [Yes!] That is rawdah, confirmed by the Hadith of Sayyidina Muhammad (S).
A New Era of Tariqah in Kuala Lumpur
Today something happened which marks a new era, which we wish didn’t happen. Today something sad we felt, today something unexpected happened. Do you ever see a masjid closed in the face of the people who pray there? [No.] We never saw such a thing. A new era happened here today by closing the zawiya that al-Marhoom, His Highness Raja Ashman opened in 1992, so for 23 years it was open day and night. Today it was closed. That means the Tariqah is closed in KL, finished. That secret has already been donated to Shah-i-Mardaan, Sayyidina `Ali (a), and it is going to the hand of Mahdi (a), finished. Today they closed that era from Raja Ashman’s time, where food was given and people were allowed to sleep and do dhikrullah and pray. Today it was closed for certain reasons that we don’t know, although it has no plumbing or electrical issues.
So on Thursday, dhikr is going to be here in this place. Her Excellency, Datuk Noora opened her home, this place, to do dhikrullah on Thursdays because the zawiya has been closed in our face. So this is a new era showing us that Tariqah is ended here. Slowly, slowly they are going to end one after one, one after one. May Allah (swt) open their minds and open our minds in order that to remain always united, as unity is better than segregation. To be together with each other is stronger than to be alone. And we say as Allah granted us that zawiyah for 23 years, He can also grant another place for hundreds and hundreds of years. But the secret of the Tariqah is stopped; they ended the legacy of Raja Ashman Shah. With respect to everyone, may Allah guide us towards His guidance, towards His Prophet (s) and towards Ahlu ‘s-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah. May Allah bless us and bless this company and inshaa-Allah we’ll see you on Thursday for dhikrullah and suhbah.
In the meantime, Allah doesn’t like to bring bad issues up. Whatever they are saying, whatever they are trying to fabricate of stories and whispering in the ears of some people, it is not going to change us and we are continuing to follow the way of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, may Allah bless his soul. People might ask, “What is this division?” but there is no division that I am seeing, there is only hubb ar-riyaasah, love of the chair, as they want to sit on the chair.
`Illat al-insaan hubb ar-riyaasah.
The love of the chair is the bad character of human beings.
Let everyone sit on the chair, who cares? You are not going to own it, you will leave everything (when you die). But some people are asking questions and I am going to answer them.
Our Seven Names and Protocols in the Naming of Various Tariqas
First of all, Allah (swt) has given every `abd seven names, your name in dunya and six names in Heavens. Your name in dunya your parents gave you, and your names in Heavens, Allah gave you as a mu’min, as a Muslim. In every Paradise you will be called by a different name, because each Paradise can carry what it can carry; the Second Paradise can carry more than the First Paradise and that’s how your first name will be less carrying and your second name will carry more, your third name will carry more, your fourth name and fifth name and sixth name are carrying the Light that Allah is sending on that Paradise.
With no pride, I have to say, with no pride I am under the shoes of everyone. I don't deserve anything, I deserve to be at the door with the shoes of the people. This is how we have been trained, this is how we learned from our shuyookh, to be humble not to be arrogant and only our opinion has to go and all the rest are wrong.
When the Shaykh Gives You Something by Order of the Prophet
When the shaykh gives you something by order of Prophet (s), you own it, it is a gift. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (qs) gave me the name Qutb al-Mutasarrif, second, he gave the names Madad al-Haqq, Hujjatullah al-Mukhlis, these two names from Heavens. Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) gave the names MuradAllah al-Dhaakir and Thamir al-Haqq Zayn al-Abideen. Four names Allah granted me with the barakah of our shaykh, Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al-Haqqani (q), and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) with these four names, and mostly people only know two of their names. This is barakah from them and no one can take it, and if anyone tries to attack it, it means they are attacking Prophet (s) and attacking mashaykh.
Current Political Issues with the Names “Haqqani” and “Naqshbandi”
Second, we have a problem in the whole West, and you might have the problem here, that we have been asked many times, “Are you Naqshbandis related to Iraqi Naqshbandis [a group involved in terrorism]?” We said, “No.” We have been asked. (Mawlana addresses the camera.) You were not asked, but we were asked and we feel the heat, you don't feel the heat; you live in the Middle East and you don't care, but we care, for our people, for our followers, our students, for those who are learning from us, we care for them, so we cannot keep the name to be called after some people, a group in Pakistan who are called extremists and terrorists. That's why Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, Allah bless his soul, his title is “Haqqani”, but “al-Haqqaniyya” is a group of terrorists in Pakistan and we are asked if there is a relationship. So I asked Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) to add the name “Nazimiyya”, his name, not my name, not anyone’s name, not a tribe’s name, but At-Tariqah Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya, so what’s wrong with it? If I call this “Hajji Noora’s house” or “Hajji Sulayman’s house” what has changed? Nothing. We said instead of people knocking on our door every day to ask if we are different from those having problems in Pakistan, we are “Tariqah Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya al-`Aliyya” after Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q)!
For Honor, Every Tariqah was Named After Their Shaykh Who Passed Away
If you have a little bit of intelligence, you will notice that every Tariqah of Naqshbandiyya is called after the shaykh that came after [succeeded] the previous shaykh. When Sayyidina Abu Bakrin as-Siddiq (r) died, the Tariqah was called as-Siddiqiyya, then they called it Tayfooriyya according to the name of Abu Yazid al-Bastami (q), so why didn’t they complain and say, “No, it is as-Siddiqiyya!” Then after Sayyidina `Abdul Khaliq al-Ghujduwani (q) it was called Ghujduwaniyya; after Sayyidina Khidr (a) it was called Uwaysiyya after there was a difference in time, then after Shah Naqshband it was called Naqshbandiyya, then Mujadidiyya, then Dahlawiyya, after Sayyidina Khalid al-Baghbadi (q) it was called Khalidiyya, then Daghestaniyya. So what is wrong if we call it after Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, Nazimiyya? Don’t teach me other than that, show me, where it is wrong? Everyone agrees on it? [Yes!] Let us renew our baya` with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. Raise your hands, those who are from other Tariqahs can take it Tabarrukan, for baraka only, and for others from this Tariqah it’s a complete renewal. Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llaah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh.
Speaking the Names of the Pious, Sincere Ones Brings Barakah
May Allah bless you all, as it is said:
عِنْدَ ذِكْرِ الصَّالِحِينَ تَنْزِلُ الرَّحْمَةُ
When the names of the pious are mentioned Allah’s Mercy descends.
(Narrated Sufyan ibn `Uyayana in Imam Ahmad’s Zuhd)
Have you heard of that? When you mention the name of a pious, sincere servant of Allah (swt), rahmatullah, Allah’s Mercy will manifest itself on you. Now which names have we mentioned of the Tariqah Nazimiyya? We mentioned Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) by his name, so what will happen? `Inda dhikr as-saaliheen tanzilu ’r-rahmah, so the addition of his name is a rahmah.
Politics Against the Name “Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya”
Instead of making all of us benefit, others want to cut it, dissect it and throw it in the garbage! What is wrong if you say, “Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani an-Naqshbandi an-Nazimiyya”? Is that not his name? Nazim, Nazimiyya. At-Tariqah Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyya is not a Shi`a name, but they attack us like Wahhabis now! Everything that you, do they say “bid`a”, “shirk”, until you are afraid to do anything any more, because to anything you do they say, “shirk!” Now in Tariqah, they are doing the same thing. You do something, they are saying, “shirk, haraam!” Don't listen to them, they are lying to you and doing the similar, typical way of the Wahhabis in Tariqah today. In any case, we leave that for Allah (swt) to judge:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدَافِعُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
Verily Allah will defend (from ill) those who believe!
Allah will defend the mu’mins and defend the others, also. We like them to have hidaaya, may Allah guide them and guide us. We need hidaaya, they need hidaaya, everyone needs hidaaya. May Allah (swt) give us hidaaya and bless us with the love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).
(Du`a).
We Took Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s Name to Honor His Wishes
So finally, I would like to say we are following this to please Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) as when I visited him last March he said to me, “I want you to establish forty masjid and open a place to make a zawiya for dhikrullah in every alley and street!” I know I cannot, but it is an intention, an-niyyah:
إنما الأعمال بالنيات , وإنما لكل امرئ ما نوى , فمن كانت هجرته إلى الله ورسوله , فهجرته إلى الله ورسوله , ومن كانت هجرته لدنيا يصيبها أو امرأة ينكحها , فهجرته إلى ما هاجر إليه
Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended. So the one whose emigration was to Allah and His Messenger, then his emigration was to Allah and His Messenger, and the one whose emigration was for the world to gain from it, or a woman to marry him, then his emigration was to what he made it. (Bukhari and Muslim)
Our niyyah is to migrate to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s), and what Allah and Prophet like is to mention the name of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and to make us away from problems associated with the old name. That’s why we are calling it at-Tariqah Naqshbandiyya Nazimiyyati ’l-`Aliyya; we are moving forward with it and centers around the world are establishing that name; some of them are not, but inshaaAllah we hope in the future they will.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
