Respect the Teachings of Holy Qur'an to Help the Poor

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

22 August 2020, Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

They used to compete in Lebanon on who can finish the Holy Qur’an before the other, and this is from the blessing of the Prophet (s). It is not permissible for anyone to put the Holy Qur’an aside unless they are sick or they are traveling. Today, we put the Holy Qur’an on a shelf (and leave it there). No respect! No respect!

One of the highest ranking Shaykhs and Awliya always used to respect the Holy Qur’an; he used to put the Holy Qur’an on top of the highest shelf so that it is at the highest point in his house. Nowadays, we put the Holy Qur’an on the lowest level possible, and they put it only as a decoration.

This Wali, who we are speaking about, out of respect for the Holy Qur’an, he used to glorify and praise the Holy Qur’an. And this was during a very difficult time period in the country, when they used to disrespect the Holy Qur’an.

This Wali was very rich; he built his house on a cliff and invited people to his house. He was one of the best mureeds for his shaykh. He built his house on top of the cliff and placed the Holy Qur’an on the highest point in the house, showing respect to the Qur’an, and he gave that as a donation to his shaykh in order for the other mureeds to see and respect the Holy Qur’an. He used to say, “The love of the Qur’an is in my heart!”

The mureed was very happy that his shaykh is happy with him, so he went and bought another copy of the Holy Qur’an and placed it higher than where the other one was before. He then went to the house of the shaykh to tell him about the good news, that he bought a place on top of the house to put the Holy Qur’an there, and he gave him the Qur’an as a gift. The shaykh was very happy; he showed happiness that the mureed is respecting his teachings and respecting the reading of the Holy Qur`an. But then the shaykh asked, “Did you rest well?” It means, “There is something wrong; did you think about it?” The mureed answered, “No, I didn’t listen to what the Holy Qur’an gave to human beings, which is to show the highest respect (I did not show the respect that is due to the Message in the Qur’an).” The shaykh was teaching him a lesson, saying, “I accept the Holy Qur’an, but I give it back to you, because it is a big responsibility to carry it if you don’t respect it.”

That mureed was shaking, he did not know what to answer. So, he left the Qur’an in the house of the shaykh and left. After a while, the host came and gave the Qur’an back to the mureed. The shaykh said to the mureed, “You are the best mureed in the group, but you did something that the Prophet (s) did not like.” What was that? The shaykh told him, “I accept your gift, but you have to know that I do not like to see people who have money, like powerful, rich people, and they are not helping. Don’t sleep on your money, not supporting the sick or the needy!” There are a lot of people today who have no shelter; they have nothing in their homes, everything has been destroyed and cut into pieces and no one is responding to their cries!

So, the generous must always remember the poor. We have to help the people in need. What does it mean to help the people in need? It means, you have to always remember at any moment you could lose all your good deeds due to something wrong you did. So, please make sure to help, and this is the time for helping!

The shaykh was happy when his mureed gave a good answer. He said that if you bring all the gold, all the wealth of dunya and put it in front of Awliyaullah, they will not look at it for even one moment as much as they look at the rest of the Awliya and at poor people! The shaykh said, “If you only knew that the heaviness and the burdens of dunya do not end, and you will not understand anything, but alhamdulillah you have shown good respect to the Holy Quran.”

We are Muslim and our Book is the Holy Qur’an, so make sure that you give as much as you can, because people don’t have roofs on their homes; people don’t have food, and mashaaAllah we have everything. So, we have to be careful not to become disillusioned from Akhira by dunya.

The Prophet (s) said in a Hadith, “This dunya is dirt and filth, and those who seek it are dogs.”

You have to build a relationship between yourself and other people who are in need so they too can live a good life.

Alhamdulillah, all praise is to Allah! Alhamdulillah, we thank you, O Allah, for granting us the ability to recite “Alhamdulillah,” with a praise that is the praise of the Prophet (s) and a praise that is worthy of Your Majesty!

May Allah (swt) grant us what He granted His Awliyaullah, because we are in His Mahabbah, Love: we love Sayyidina Rasoolullah (s); we love Awliyaullah; and we love each other. Until today, this blessing of hamd, praise, a praise that befits Your Blessings and Your Bounties, abundant and a clear praise.

So, you must think, “What can I do to make Allah (swt), the Prophet (saw) and Awliyaullah happy with me?” Everyone must help! And those who do not have anything, their help is by saying, “Alhamdulillahi Rabbi’l-`alameen, All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.” (Surat al-Fatihah, 1:2) We praise Him and thank Him for His Gifts and His Bounties, the outward and the inward. And inshaaAllah, the salvation and the opening is coming!

Do not be afraid. When corona truly comes, it will become the real corona. It made all of dunya afraid. Why? It is smaller than an ant, something you cannot see with your eye; an ant you can still see with your eyes. The One who put it there is the One who is testing us. `Alaynaa bi ‘s-sabr, we have to be patient. Awliyaullah are waiting for the sign to appear. Anyone who denies what I am saying, he is wrong. In one second, they can turn the dunya upside down. If I say to the mountain move, it will move! It’s the power of Awliya, the power of Prophet (s). So Awliyaullah can move dunya from east to west and west to east.

Do you believe in Prophet (s)? Yes. He informed us about what will happen in the Last Days of dunya, as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. And it has been written by me before (in the book, “The Approach of Armageddon”) to bring the meaning of Sayyidina Mahdi (a). Allah said in the Holy Qur’an about the ant:

قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ

One of the ants said, "O ants! Get into your habitations. (An-Naml, 27:18)

An ant is speaking to its sister ant. It can hear, it can see, it knows everything about her country, which is underground. When it becomes slowly, slowly above ground, there will be secrets coming! So, try to always look in the morning at what will happen from these insects. It’s going to change. You are going to lose everything when you don’t listen to the Prophet (s)! And we have to listen to Awliyaullah, when they explain this verse in the Holy Qur’an about ants.

O Muslims! Have piety, consciousness of Allah (swt) in what He has commanded you to do and fear Him from what He prohibited you from doing. Lahza aqalla min lahza, in less than a moment, and there are things that are even shorter than a moment. In an instant, they destroyed an entire city in Lebanon. When Allah (swt) mentioned the zalzala, the earthquake in the Qur’an, people did not pay attention. In one moment, dunya can flip, the top becoming bottom and the bottom becoming top. They are the Creation of Allah (swt), but Allah (swt) has preferred us above all Creation.

So, be careful! Sayyidina Mahdi (a) is coming! Sayyidina Mahdi (a) is coming! Sayyidina Mahdi (a) is coming! Search for him. Don’t say, “This is too long to wait,” or, “We don’t believe in these things, they are wrong,” and so on. Did you not believe when you saw the explosion in Lebanon destroy the whole city of Beirut in one moment? So, be careful! In one moment Allah (swt) will bring what is up down and what is down up. We ask Allah (swt) to always make us under the love of the Prophet (s).

Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq, bi hurmati ‘l-Fatihah.
