A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. We are saying to all attenders, as-salaamu `alaykum. Salaam is from heavens, not from people that are saying this to each other. Salaam brings peace from heavens to those people who are saying, "As-salaamu `alaykum," and others are saying, "Wa `alaykum as-salaam." That is a heavenly gift for us and it is bringing peace for believers. Anyone who accepts and says, "Wa `alaykum as-salaam," those heavenly blessings are just running on them and they are going to be happy. Dunya is Daar al-Bala`, the Abode of Misfortunes. This dunya is not a place for making people to be in pleasure, because dunya is sijjn al-mu'min, a prison for believers who are believing in the eternal Next Life. They will take some pleasure, but others are not taking any pleasure, and this salaam gives pleasure to our body as well as our spiritual being.
We are saying, a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem. We are running away from Shaytan and its trips and traps. Shaytan is our worst enemy, always asking to make human nature not to be happy here and Hereafter. It has so many trips and traps, and people are just running after Shaytan, falling in a trap and never tasting pleasure in this life. Allah Almighty is granting to believers a satisfaction in their hearts and it is, (Mawlana Shaykh stands.) asta`eedh billah:
أَلاَ بِذِكْرِ اللّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
`alaa bi dhikrillahi tatma'inna al-quloob.
Verily with the remembrance of Allah the hearts are brought in satisfaction. (13:28)
(Mawlana Shaykh sits.) That is a big good tiding for believers who are making dhikr, always remembering their Creator, and trying to make their Lord pleased with them; the most important aim for Mankind is to make their Creator pleased with them. If you can do that, you have reached Eternal, and you will be in Allah Almighty's paradises created for those servants who tried to make their Creator happy and pleased with them. That is the most important thing. If you are not doing that, you will be a carcass under the ground and Allah's order is to cover their bodies with Earth and not to come that carcass smell. All prophets were calling people, "O People! O servants of Allah Almighty! Come and try to make your Creator pleased with you." If you are making your Creator pleased with you, your whole life here and Hereafter, will be as we are saying sa`adat ad-darayn, "happiness in the two abodes." Those who are trying to make their Lord pleased with them, in this life they will also have pleasure and after they are leaving this life they will reach to an endless pleasement and pleasure! After leaving this muwaqqat, temporary life, they will be happy here and Hereafter.
Our pleasure is a grant from Allah Almighty to us; if He is granting, you will be pleased and in pleasure. If He is not giving, the whole world and everything in it can't give you any pleasure. Perhaps, time by time there is coming to them sadness. When Shaytan is making people fall in sins and they are thinking they are enjoying, then coming from left hand and saying, "Now you are very happy and in pleasure, but tomorrow you are going to die," then finishing everything. But now people are all falling in Heedless Oceans; ghaflat, they are heedless people, asking a pleasure in this world and it is impossible!
O People! Come and try to make your Lord pleased with you, then you will be in pleasure here and Hereafter. Try to do good things, that is the honor of Mankind. Don't give trouble to other people, that is snakes, cobras, and wild animals' characteristics. Be gentle and generous and also give respect and honor to everyone. Be gentle for every creature. It is forbidden even to kill an ant if it is not giving harm to you.
O People! Now the whole world is running out from the level of humanity to the level of wild creatures, happy when they are giving harm to people. That is the wrong way! All governments are on the wrong way!
May Allah forgive us. It is enough. Just Shaykh Adnan Effendi was explaining about Laylatu ’l-Mi`raj; if we are speaking up to next week, it is never ending. (Shaykh Hisham Effendi spoke about it.)
