Prophet (s) Will Never Stop Asking for His Ummah

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

23 September 2016 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Suhbah at Private Residence

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`ala wa barakaatuh. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

Ad-deenu naseeha. Sayyidina Muhammad (s) qaal ad-deenu naseeha. man yaqool ad-deenu ghayru dhaalik? The Prophet (s) said, “Religion is advice, for everyone to advise everyone,” and that is why the da`wah will continue until the Day of Judgment.

Just now we cut the hair of a baby boy and everyone was happy celebrating. This Mawlid, for the honor of the Prophet (s), was for the barakah of this house, the couple, the grandparents and the newborn baby. Imagine if we have so much love for a baby, what about if Allah (swt) and Prophet (s) love us? Allah (swt) showed us the respect out of love to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and we have to show our respect to Prophet (s) by making more mawaalid and more qasaa´id.

In Israa’ and Mi`raaj we know the Prophet (s) ascended from Masjid as-Sakhra in Quds ash-Shareef with Jibreel (a). Was it Heavens in dunya or in Akhirah? The Prophet (s) ascended to the First Heaven and Heavens cannot be in dunya, it is outside dunya, outside the universe. It cannot be inside hadd ad-dunya. It means the Prophet (s) passed all the galaxies we know about through quantum physics, there are six thousand galaxies and now they are saying there are an infinite number of galaxies. In our galaxy there are eighty billion stars. And if we say there are six thousand galaxies, Prophet (s) went above all that in that short time, learning everything:

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا

Fawajada `abdan min `ibaadina aataynaahu rahmatan min `indina wa `allamnaahu min ladunna `ilma.

So they found one of Our Servants on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our Own Presence. (Surat al-Kahf, 18:65)

Allah gave him `Uloom al-Awwaleen wa ’l-Akhireen, the Knowledge of Before and After. He passed the whole universe and reached the First Heaven, which is not in Hadd ad-Dunya, which no one was able to penetrate except Prophet (s)! Sayyidina Adam (a) was in the First Heaven when Iblees came whispering in his ears to bring him down to dunya, so Earth is place of ma`siyya, sin. Paradise cannot accept sin, is it not? Prophet (s) went to the First Heaven; why didn’t he go directly to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? Why did he need to go through all the Heavens until Jibreel (a) said, “Yaa Rasoolullah, I cannot go further than that, you go by yourself.” Because Allah honored Prophet (s) and wants His angel to give honor him. He wants Prophet (s) to enter every Heaven to bless them with mercy, because they are for Ummat an-Nabi (s) and the nations of other prophets. Allah wants to bless the Heaven that Prophet (s) enters and show him the rewards He wants to give his Ummah.

When he entered the First Heaven Allah dressed him through His Angel Jibreel (a) with endless Mercy. In the Seerah, it is mentioned that before entering Jibreel (a) knocked on the door of the First Heaven and the angels said, “Who is with you?” Don't the angels know Prophet (s) is coming to visit? But the angels wanted to address his name from the highest level. Jibreel (a) said, “I have Muhammad with me, he is invited.” They opened the door, Prophet (s) entered and what he saw no one knows except what he has mentioned in Hadith an-Nabi (s). Then they continued to the Second Heaven. When a president comes to a country, he stops in cities and villages for people to honor him, until he reaches the capital. Allah brought the Prophet (s) to honor him more than anyone else, more than angels and prophets. He brought him to the Second Heaven and dressed him with mercy and blessings different from those in the First Heaven. Each Heaven has its own dresses of rahmah and according to what Allah dresses the Prophet (s) with, he becomes stronger and stronger.

Allah keeps pouring into Prophet’s (s) heart from `Uloom al-Awwaleen wa ’l-Akhireen until he reaches Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa, two bow's of an arrow or nearer. It means he was so near to the Divine Presence and as he moved closer and closer the Ascension increases; we cannot say more than that. When you reach near, Allah opens even more and it becomes so huge, like when someone stands on the beach looking at the horizon, but in a boat or plane, when you draw near the horizon there is another horizon. What can we say about the horizons in Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? There is more and more knowledge that Allah is opening to the Prophet (s) and dressing him, as Allah said:

وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَى

And indeed, your Sustainer will grant you [what your heart desires] and you will be well pleased. (Surat ad-Duha, 93:5)

“Allah will give you until you are satisfied.” Allah is giving and opening more horizons for him, more to go, and it is endless. Prophet (s) was ascending in dunya and he is ascending in his holy grave in his Mi`raaj until Judgment Day and Allah is giving more and more to His Prophet (s). All what we are saying is from the tafseer of this verse, “Allah will give you until you say, ‘I am satisfied.’” If someone generous gives you something, you will be happy and then he brings something more and you will be happy, and then he gives you more until you feel shy and you say, “Okay.” But the Prophet (s) will not say ‘Okay,’ he will ask more for his Ummah because whatever Allah gave him, he gave to his Ummah, he did not keep anything for himself.

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, alam nashrah laka sadrak wa wada`ana `anka wizrak, alladhee anka zhahrak. (Holy Qur’an, chapter 104) Prophet is ma`soom, maa huwa wizr an-Nabi (s). an-Nabi laysa lahu wizr laakin hadha wizr al-Ummah. The Prophet (s) does not have sins, this refers to sins of the Ummah. Allah dresses him here until the Prophet (s) says ‘enough’ and Prophet does not say ‘enough,’ he wants more and more, as written in the book Adab al-Mufrad about the Day of Gathering, that the Prophet (s) makes du`as that Allah opens to his heart that never were opened before and were never made before in sajda in the Divine Presence. Prophet (s) asks and asks and asks, until Allah says to him, irfa` raasak sa'l tu`taa, “Raise your head and ask, you will be given.” What does Prophet (s) ask? He does not ask for money, jewelry or bank accounts; dunya zaa’ila, dunya is going. If you eat a small fruit or a big meal it is the same, one day you are going to die and leave it behind. What will the Prophet (s) ask? He will not ask for any part of dunya, not even Jannah: he only wants for his Ummah to reach Maqaam Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa, Two Bows’ Length or Nearer in the Divine Presence!

He (s) says, “Yaa Rabbee! I want my Ummah.” He wants all of us! Allah (swt) says, “Take one-third of them,” and the Prophet (s) was happy, but still sad for the two-thirds because he wanted all of them. Who can do that? Allah (swt) honored him when He first created his Noor.

When Jaabir (r) asked, “Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you, oh Prophet of Allah! What is the first thing that Allah (swt) created?” the Prophet (s) said, “The first thing that Allah (swt) created is the Light of your Prophet from His Light, O Jaabir.” (Musannaf `Abdu ’r-Razzaq)

“The first thing Allah created is the Light of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).” Allah put that Light in Bahr al-Qudrah, which was turning and turning. Prophet (s) was in that Ocean of Power and Allah showed him His Power, Qudrah, on everything: Allahu ’l-Muqtadir al-Qadir al-`Alim. So Prophet (s) wants his Ummah and with the power he was dressed from Bahr al-Qudrah he was asking, “Yaa Rabbee, it’s not only one-third, I need the other two-thirds, the rest of them.” He went into sajda and began making more du`a. We know the du`as. What kind of knowledge and language, is it Arabic or other than Arabic? It is Arabic, but the du`as the Prophet (s) showed us that are mentioned in Ahaadith, that the Sahaabah mentioned in history, scholars know most of them. But in the Hadith, Prophet (s) said, “Allah will open du`as that were never opened before,” so what kind of Arabic will he speak is a secret and mystery to us.

The Prophet (s) made du`a in sajda that Allah revealed to him directly in his sajda, and He will say to him another time, irfa` raasak sa'l tu`taa, “Raise your head and ask, you will be given.” He said, “I want the two-thirds,” and Allah says, “Take another third,” then he takes another third to Paradise. They do not give an account! If there is accounting we will be lost because no one can say, “I did sin,” all of us have sinned. Prophet (s) said to Sayyida Ayesha (r), “Ask Allah not to judge you.”

من حوسب عذب

(Yaa `Ayesha!) Who will be judged will be punished for sure. (Bukhari)

This was to Sayyida Ayesha (r). What about us? Man hoosib `udhdhib. Keep that in mind! Anyone who will be judged, for sure Allah will show something that he will be punished for, but with His Rahmah Allah will forgive, but if He wants to punish He will punish. May Allah not punish and judge us.

Prophet says, “I want them, yaa Rabbee.” Allah says, “Take the other third.” Prophet (s) then asks a third time, goes into sajda and makes du`as that Allah did not open to him the first or second time, it is something more, it is a higher level. The first group was a good group, we can say the best among the Ummah; the second group was a very good group; but, the third group is trembling in fear with their sins, they need more du`a, so Allah opens more du`as. Then He says, “Raise your head. What do you want?” and the Prophet (s) says, “I want the rest.” Allah says, “Take them all, except for one.”

In the other Hadith, we know who that ‘one’ is, he is the zhaalim, the oppressor who oppresses himself by following his desires, may Allah forgive us, or the one who oppresses his brothers and sisters, his parents and his community. Whoever oppressed anyone is a zhaalim and Allah will keep them, judge them and show them their punishment, but He says, “My Mercy encompasses everything.”

My Mercy embraces all things; therefore, I grant it to those who ward off (evil) and pay the poor due, and those who believe Our Revelations. (Surat al-A`raaf, 7:156)

“I put mercy in My Prophet’s heart. I have the Ocean of Mercy. I am forgiving the rest. Go to Paradise for the sake of My Prophet, Muhammad (s).” So celebrate his presence, celebrate his name! Wa rafa`na laka dhikrak, “We have raised your remembrance.” No one can enter Paradise without the name of Muhammad (s). You can say “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah” a million times, but without saying “Muhammadun Rasoolullah” you will not be considered a Believer, it will not work. Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah. Wa rafa`na laka dhikrak. “We have raised your remembrance high for everyone to remember you. Not only that! I ordered My angels to make salawaat on you and I am making salawaat on you, dressing you from My Mercy.” O mu’min! Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo salloo `alayh. It is an order on us to make salawaat!

Verily, Allah and His angels send praise on the Prophet. O Believers! Pray upon him and greet him with a worthy salutation. (Surat al-'Ahzaab, 33:56)

Inna-Llaaha wa malaa'ikatahu yusalloona `ala an-nabiyy. Angels continuously make salawaat on Prophet (s). What kind of salawaat, in what form and how? Are they making salawaat like we make salawaat? When we make salawaat we are imitating them, but their salawaat is different. From one angel to another salawaat is different, and if one angel makes salawaat on the Prophet (s) the second salawaat is different from the first one; each salawaat is different and not repeated. Allah shows His Greatness,`Azhamatullah, that each angel has different seegha, ways of making salawaat, and they are constantly under that order of Allah (swt) to make salawaat `ala an-Nabi (s) until the Day of Judgement.

He added the names of the angels to His Name to say salawaat on Prophet, Inna-Llaaha wa malaa'ikatahu, “Allah and His angels are making salawaat on the Prophet,” non-stop until the day of Judgement. Allah wants us to follow this! Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo, salloo `alayh, “O Believers! Do the same thing, make salawaat on the Prophet (s)!” So if you make salawaat on the Prophet in every moment it is not excessive, still you need to do more. Don’t listen to people who say, “Doing too much salawaat is shirk.” It is not shirk! You have to continuously send salawaat on Prophet (s) and it is `ibaadah. The salawaat in at-Tahiyyaat is required, without it your prayer is not accepted. You recite at-tahiyyaatu lillaahi wa ‘s-salawaatu wa ’t-tayyibaatu in your prayer, without which your prayer will be thrown in your face. You are making salawaat on the Prophet (s) directly when you say, “As-salaamu `alayka yaa ayyuha ’n-Nabi,” addressing him in present tense.

May Allah (swt) open for us from these oceans. We can continue to morning, but I am told the food is ready. May Allah forgive us. I ask our shaykh to make du`a for us. [Du`a.]

[A western gentleman, Mr. Sutton of England, sits in front of Shaykh Hisham and asks to take Shahaadah. Shaykh Hisham gives Shahaadah and baya`.]

I will tell you (Brother Nigel) one thing. In Mountain View, California we had a dojo and we went to the masjid to pray, but every week we did dhikr in the dojo, which had an Arab style arrangement with carpeted floors for sitting, etc. Mostly reverts/converts came there, whatever you like to call them; we say ‘revert’ because Allah (swt) put that light Noor al-Imaan in every baby’s heart when they are born.

A 95-year-old man came and said to me, “May I join you in reciting God's Names?” I said, “You are welcome.” So he began to recite and he was happy, then he left. The second week he came, he said, “Can I join you in prayer?” I said, “Yes, you may follow what we do.” So he followed the positions of salaat, qiyam, ruk`oo, sajda, and then he went. The third week he said, “I see something in my heart urging me to accept Islam,” and he said Shahaadah: Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasoolullah. Then he asked for a Muslim name and we gave; if they ask we give, if not we don't. Then he left.

The fourth, fifth and sixth weeks, he did not come, so I sent someone to check on him and they found out he had died. So now the question is, will Allah forgive him for 95 years of sins because he accepted Islam? The Prophet (s) said:

لإسلام يجب ما قبله

Islam clears the sins of what came before it. (Sahih Muslim)

He had 95 years of sins and yet took Shahaadah, and his past sins were erased. I'm not saying this to make you worried (that you will now die), but to make you happy that everything before has been erased! [Laughter.] May Allah (swt) erase all our sins and dress us with His Mercy.
