Prophet Muhammad (s) Was Given The Perfect Vision

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem.

Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

I thank everybody who has come here. Thank you for attending an event that is about the love of Rasoolullah (s) and to know a little bit more about him. Mashaa-Allah, Awliyaullah, `ulama, `udaba, everybody has written things about Rasoolullah (s) out of love and how they appreciate him. If you understand Arabic, you cannot top what Sidi Ahmad has said. That’s why qasa’id, madih, nasheed are the best ways to teach us, to teach our kids, to teach our community the love of Rasoolullah (s). The people who come against qasa’id, nasheed and madih are those who have never tasted love, period.

These anasheed, these poems that Sidi Ahmad is reciting and that other munshids are reciting have been written out of love and nothing else. It’s not, “Let me say what I can write.” You can never write anything about Rasoolullah (s) if you have no love for him. What should I say? Nothing can top what he has said.

Inshaa-Allah, I’ll share some things with you that I have learned from my teachers. What I am going to share is something spiritual, something that has deep meanings, not what you hear from everybody else. Mashaa-Allah, there are so many speakers around Dallas, the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Wherever you go, everybody is speaking but they speak as they know. Others speak out of love. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

I thank the Dallas Sufi center. I’m happy to be among you. Maybe they’re a little bit crazy but I love them. It’s good to feel happy and express your happiness. It’s not good to feel depressed and express your depression to others. Smile. They say life is short. Is it short? Yes, it is. Your life might be one day, one week or it might end tomorrow. Who knows? You cannot guarantee when you will leave. Express your joy, O Muslim. Express your happiness, O mu`min. Don’t express your depression. Nobody wants that. Everybody is depressed anyway. People want joy. They say smiling is contagious. When you smile, others smile. When you frown, others frown. May Allah (swt) always make us from the happy ones.

Allah (swt) is teaching you. When do you become happy? There are two ayahs where Allah (swt) is allowing farah, happiness and joy. Asta`eedhubillah.

Qul bi Fadhlillahi wa bi Rahmatihi fa bi dhaalika fal-yafrahoo. Huwa khayrun mimmaa yajma`oon.

Say: "In the Bounty of Allah and in His Mercy, in that let them rejoice": that is better than the (wealth) they hoard. (Surah Yunus, 10:58)

By the Grace of Allah (swt) and by the Rahmah of Allah (swt), let them have joy and happiness and rejoice. We all know that Rasoolullah (s) is the Fadl of Allah (swt). Rasoolullah (s) is the Rahmah of Allah (swt). It’s an order by Rasoolullah, with Rasoolullah, in Rasoolullah rejoice! Why are you frowning? This is not the place to frown. Show your happiness but in moderation. Don’t be over the top, keep it cool and steady. A Muslim has to have waqaar, not too much over the top but to be steady in his actions and movements. May Allah (swt) forgive us. Again, I thank everybody who is here, those who have invited me, to share your event and to share the joy here.

I was going to say something but something else came through and inshaa-Allah, I will share it with you. Asta`eedhubillah.

Saad. Wa ‘l-Qurani dhi ’dh-dhikr.

Saad: By the Qur'an, Full of Admonition: (This is the Truth). (Surah Saad, 38:1)

He said, al-Qur’an khuluqu. When I heard that from Sidi Ahmad, “His inner conduct is Qur’an . His inner being is the Qur'an. His inner essence is the Qu'ran. Did you read “Saad” in the Holy Qur’an? Do we read the Holy Qur’an? Let’s start there. If you read it, good for you. If you don’t read it, start reading. Iqra, yaa Muhammad. If Rasoolullah (s) read, why don’t we read?

Awliyaullah have said Saad can mean many things but according to what Awliyaullah have received from knowledge, one of the meanings is the soorah, the physicality of Muhammad (s), the image of Muhammad (s)! Rasoolullah (s) has a physicality and a spirituality. As-soorah al-Muhammadiya is Saad. Wa ‘l-Qurani di ‘d-dhikri. That is his spirituality. His inner being is the Qur’an. When you look at Rasoolullah (s), you are looking at Allah (swt)’s Asma wa ‘s-Sifaat. That Noor reflects in him!

How do you follow him? We want to reach somewhere with Rasoolullah (s). You also follow Saad. That’s why they call it “Sufi.” I said this last year but I’ll repeat it again. It’s a good reminder. “Sufi” comes from “soof,” those who wear wool. Have you ever heard of that? Sayyidina Ali (r) used to wear wool. Soof is what the Sufis were wearing. It was a sign that they had shunned the suits and taken on what is humble. The first letter of “soof” is saad. Awliyaullah have said if you want to follow Rasoolullah (s), if you want to follow the soorah, the physicality of Rasoolullah (s), you have to follow saad. Saad is sidq, sabr and safah.

You have to be truthful, saadiq. Rasoolullah (s) was As-Saadiqu ‘l-Amin. As-soorah al-Muhammadiya, that holy image of Muhammad Rasoolullah (s), that holy physicality, if you want to follow him correctly, you have to be a truthful one. Truthful to whom? First to Allah (swt). You cannot say, “I worship You. I want You. I desire You. I request You. I want Your Pleasure,”’ and you are desiring something else and you are seeking the pleasure of something else and running after something else. Then you are not sadiq. If you want to follow that soorah al-Muhammadiya, you have to start being sadiq, sidq, a truthful one.

The second is sabr, patience on what’s going to come through. Was Rasoolullah (s) patient? Of course he was. Not only by him but he was patient with Allah (swt)'s patience. In Surah Nahl Allah (swt) says, asta`eedhubillah. Wasbir wa ma sabruka illa bi ‘l-Llah

And do thou be patient, for thy patience is but from Allah. nor grieve over them: and distress not thyself because of their plots. (Surat an-Nahl, 16:127)

Be patient. Again, saad. Your patience is not from your, your patience is from Allah (swt). How much patience does Allah (swt) have? His Name is As-Saboor. Too much patience, you cannot top that. That sabr will come from Allah (swt) on the bala` that’s going to come through. If you are a Muslim, you have to expect that you will face hardships. If you are following As-soorah al-Muhammadiya, if you are following the Muhammadan image, the Muhammadan physicality, know that hardships will come your way. Allah (swt) will purify you of all the bad habits that you have, from all the attachments that you have. He will take them away one by one. You have to be patient. Bala` will come. Allah (swt) has promised..

Wa la-nabluwannakum bishay’in mina al-khawfi wal-jooʿi wa naqṣin mina al-amwaali wal-anfusi wath-thamaraat; wa bashshir aṣ-ṣaabirīn.

Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:155)

I will test you. Was Rasoolullah (s) tested? He said, nobody was tested more than I was. Ma udiyya nabi mithla ma uddee.

wa laqad ūdhītu fī llāh, wa mā yuʾdhā aḥad.

“..I was harmed for the sake of Allāh in ways no one else was…” (Sunan al-Tirmidhī)

Never was a prophet tested as Rasoolullah (s) was tested. When a Muslim follows as-soorah al-Muhammadiya, when he is following that saad, he has to have truthfulness, patience and he will reach that purity. When you are pure, that is what is expected of you, O Muslim, to have qalbun saleem. Saleem means “pure, clear, healthy, it has nothing wrong with it.”

Sidq, sabr and safah. These were the words of Sayyidina Ali (r) when he was explaining about Sufi. They come against Sufism as if it was something that came from the moon. Sufism is the character of Rasoolullah (s). It was not called “Sufi” at that time because he was perfect. It was called tazkiyyatu ‘n-nafs later on but Sahaabah were following that soorah al-Muhammadiya and they were trying to reach sidq, sabr and safah.

The next is spirituality: Wa ‘l-Qurani di ‘d-dhikri. Allah (swt) is taking an oath by al-Qur’an, by the spirituality of Rasoolullah (s), by the character of Rasoolullah (s), by the manners of Rasoolullah (s). His adab, his inner conduct was Qur’anu ‘l-Kareem as Hadhrat `Ayesha (r) has said:

كَانَ خُلُقُهُ الْقُرْآنَ

khuluquhu ‘l-Qur’an.

“His character was the Qur’an.” (Sahih Muslim)

His inner character is as Qur’ani ‘l-Kareem has taught him. That is the waw. Soof is saad, waw, waw and faa.

Awliyaullah have said wud, wurood wa wafa`. When you reach deep into spirituality, you have to have that wud. Wud means “love.” When you start getting rid of this physicality that we are all after and you start going to your inner heart, to the character, the manners, the inner conduct, you have to reach there with wud, love. Love to whom? Love to Allah (swt) and His Messenger (s).

The way of Sufis is that they are truthful, patient and pure. They are not looking for other than Allah (swt). They’re not looking for dunya, women, gold or any of that. Internally they have love. When they are in love, they will reach that Ocean of Love. Wa wafa`, and they will fulfill their promise. Do you know what your promise was to Allah (swt)? You promised Him something before you came here. Yaa Rabbee, You are my Lord.

Alastu bi-rabbikum qaaloo balaa.

[Allah asked] “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes!” (Surat al-Araaf, 7:172)

You promised Him, “Yes, yaa Rabbee, You are my Lord.” He wants you to keep that promise and that’s why He sent messengers. Allah (swt), the Lord of Heavens, is our Lord, our Creator, our Sustainer, our Provider. All of those meanings can go under Rabb. He wants you to fulfill that promise. You can only fulfill that promise if you follow a messenger. Now is the time of the Seal of Messengers (s).

You must have wud, love that will take you inside. You have to reach that Ocean of Love on the inside and you have to fulfill your promise to Allah (swt). What happens after that? If somebody is your provider, do you ask others for provisions? You tell me. If somebody says, “I’ll take care of everything you need,” do you go somewhere else? Why would you? Are you sadiq? Do you go to others for sustenance when Allah (swt) says, “I am your Sustainer.” Mashaa-Allah, everybody says, “Alhamdullahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen.”

Do you know what Rabb means? “Oh yeah, praise to God, praise to Allah (swt), the Lord of the Worlds, the Sustainer, the Provider.” That means, “Everything I need, I get it from You.” That is the faa. Fakhrun means “poverty.” Iftikhar. You are in need of everything from Him. Fakhrun, fardun wa Fana. He is the Only One, Fard, no other. If you see others as your provider or protector, you are committing shirk. It’s not jalee, visible shirk, like worshipping statues. Shirkun khafee is when on the inside you think somebody else is your Rabb, your Waliy, or your Wakeel. “I trust in this one. I follow this one. I want something from this one.” How about Allah (swt)?

“Sufism” is the way to go deeper inside so you don’t ask for anything from anybody except Allah (swt). Rasoolullah (s) said, al-faqru fakhree, the need for Allah (swt) is my pride. Why do they come against Sufis? Do you understand what “soof” means? Let’s start there. These are the words of Sayyidina Ali (r).

Fard, only him. Awliyaullah don’t seek others. Anbiyaullah never wanted others. What did Sayyidina Hud (a) say?

Innee tawwakaltu `alaa ‘l-Llahi Rabbee wa Rabbukum ma min daabatin illa huwa aakhidhum bi-naasiyatihaa. Inna rabbee `alaa siraatin mustaqeem.

"I put my trust in Allah, My Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving creature, but He hath grasp of its forelock. Verily, it is my Lord that is on a straight Path. (Surah Hud, 11:56)

Get all of your tricks and traps and people and weapons and whatever you have and don’t keep me waiting. All of you come against me. I put my trust in Allah (swt), my Lord and your Lord. There is nothing moving on this earth except that Allah (swt) is moving it. Do we have that iman? Nabiyullah, Anbiyaullah only depend on One. Rasoolullah (s) only depended on One. He was alone when he started. Allah (swt) was enough for him. That is our way. Our way starts with sidq, truthfulness. If you’re not truthful, you’re not on the way of Rasoolullah (s) ever. It doesn’t matter if you are an `alim or a non-`alim. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or not rich. If a Muslim and mu`min is not truthful in what they say, in what they do, in how they feel on the inside, they are not on the way of Rasoolullah (s). You have to be sadiq. He is as-Sadiq.

The faa in the end is you ask Him for everything you need. He is the Only One. And then Fana, that means everything disappears and only He remains. That is the end of Islam. The end of Islam is to reach Allah (swt)’s Divine Presence and to have a seat that He has prepared for you. Inna ‘l-muttaqeena fee Jannatin wa naharin fee Maqadi ‘s-Sidqin inda Malikin Muqtadir.

As to the righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers, in an Assembly of Truth, in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:54-55)

Certainly the ones who avoid disbelief, avoid disobedience, avoid ignorance, avoid ma siwAllah, other than Allah (swt), they will be in Jannah and they will reach the Divine Court. You will be sitting in the Seat of Truth. Fee Maqadi ‘s-Sidqin. Why do they come against the people of turuq? Do you understand what tariqah means? No, they don’t understand. How can you pass judgement on something you don’t understand? That’s why I said, those who are against madih and nasheed have never tasted the love of Rasoolullah (s). That’s why they come against Mawlid and everything else.

Alhamdulillah, now it has become better but before when my father first started in the 90’s, you could not say salat on Rasoolullah (s) in front of people. They would come attack you, back in Jersey and New York when he first came in.

Saad is as-soorah al-Muhammadiya, the physicality of Rasoolullah (s). If you want to follow him, you have to have those three characteristics that start with saad. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

What was Rasoolullah (s) given that other prophets were not given? If you follow Rasoolullah (s), where are you going to reach? Allah (swt) has said in the Holy Qur’an, asta`eedhubillah.

Tilka ‘r-rusoolu fadalna ba`dahum `alaa ba`din minhum man kalamAllahu wa rafa`a ba`dahum darajaat.

Those apostles We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honour); (Surat al-Baqara, 2:253)

To the end of the ayah. Allah (swt) has preferred some Messengers over others. Allah (swt) has created some kind of perfection in every Nabi. Sayyidina Musa (a) wanted to see but he did not have that in him. He was not ready but he was given that honor of speaking with Allah (swt). Who was given the viewing? Musa (a) said, “Let me see You.” Who saw? Rasoolullah (s) was given kamalu ‘r-ru`ya. He was given the perfection of viewing. Musa (a) asked for it and He said, “You don’t have it. It is not from your characteristics. It is the characteristic of Muhammad (s).” He was destined to have that Holy Journey to see whatever Allah (swt) showed him in Heavens and beyond and to the Ummah.

If you follow Rasoolullah (s) correctly, you will reach where Musa (a) did not reach. You will reach where Isa (a) did not reach. The honor of an Ummah is by the honor of its prophet. Your Prophet is the highest in front of Allah (swt). He has the most Kamal, the Perfect One. If you follow him correctly, you will reach up there and you will come close to what Allah (swt) will open for you. Your Prophet has been given ru`ya, the seeing that Musa (a) asked for. If you follow him on this path that we have mentioned, you will also be given that pleasure of seeing Allah (swt). Mu`mins believe that on the Day of Judgement they will see.

Wujoohun yawma’idhin naadiratun ila Rabbiha naazhiratun

Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty); Looking towards their Lord.

(Surat al-Qiyamah 75:22-23)

Allah (swt) says there will be faces that are illuminated. They are beholding their Lord. In Akhirah that is given but some people are given more. They are allowed to see something in dunya and that is for those who have followed Rasoolullah (s). These are the saints, Awliyaullah.

Start with the letter saad (ص): sidq, sabr and you will reach safaa. That is the first step and then you can continue, inshaa-Allah. May Allah (swt) make us from the sadiqeen. That is why it is said: Yaa ayyuha ‘l-ladheena amaanoo ‘t-taqullah wa koonu ma ‘s-sadiqeen.

O ye who believe! Fear Allah and be with those who are true (in word and deed). (Surat at-Tawba, 9:119)

O you who believe! Fear Allah (swt). Avoid what displeases him, avoid what disappoints Him with you and be with the truthful ones because the truthful ones know the way. Inshaa-Allah, we are with sadiqeen like Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), Mawlana Shaykh Hisham (q) and other shuyookh. It is not only our two shaykhs. Allah (swt) created many `ibaad, many prophets, many messengers, many saints and many servants of His. You can follow anyone who is sadiq and you can reach that level where Allah (swt) will open to you when you traverse correctly.

May Allah (swt) forgive us. There is no need to speak anymore. What can we say? Rasoolullah (s) is something we don’t understand. You will never be able to understand Al-Haqqiqa ‘l-Muhammadiya as Awliyaullah have said. Somebody was talking about reflection. He is a mirror reflecting Allah (swt)’s Divine Lights. How will you understand Allah (swt)’s Divine Lights? You can’t. That is where Sayyidina Jibreel (a) stopped. He stopped where all knowledge ended. Didn’t he stop at Sidratu ‘l-Muntaha? Yantahi `ilayha `ilmu ‘l-khala’iq, as Awliyaullah and `ulama have said.

Sidratu ‘l-Muntaha is the last stop for any knowledge of any creation. You cannot go beyond. Beyond that is Al-`Ilmu ‘l-ILahi, Divine Knowledge. Rasooullah (s) stepped from `ilmu ‘l-khala’iq to `Ilmu ‘l-ILahi. He stepped beyond the knowledge of human beings into the Knowledge of Allah (swt). How would you know who Muhammad is? You will never know! No matter how much you praise him, you’re still deficient.

One of the qasidahs I heard the other day said, “No matter how much we praise you, we are still not able to give you your due right.” Sayyidina Muhammad (s) crossed from `ilmu ‘l-khala’iq to `Ilmu ‘l-ILahi. Only Allah (swt) knows. By Allah (swt) you know Rasoolullah (s). If Allah (swt) opens to you from His Treasuries then you understand who Rasoolullah (s) is but you can’t.

If you have a colleague who is equal to you, you understand what he does and who he is and what work he does but do you know what your CEO does? You have to be at his level. Who is at the level of Rasoolullah (s)? Nobody. He is one. Allah (swt) created him one. Muhammad is one. There are no two Muhammads or three Muhammads. He is one (s).

No matter how much you try to know Rasoolullah (s), you will never be able to cross `Ilmu ‘l-ILahi. Jibreel (a) stopped there. He said, “I cannot go any further.” There is no creation there. It is Ghaybu ‘l-Mutlaq, Absolute Unknown. It is a Dominion for Allah (swt). Nobody can approach. If you approach, you are in Fana. You will disappear. He said, “If I approach anymore, I will finish.” That is Fana. Rasoolullah (s) crossed. Who knows his level? You can’t know his level. May Allah (swt) forgive us.

But we can love Rasoolullah (s). By loving him, you can reach the love of Allah (swt). That’s why he said, “Follow me.” That means, follow me on Mi`raj too. Follow me to Sidratu ‘l-Muntaha too. In Surat al-Imran, he said, fattabi`ooni yuhbibkumu ‘Llah, “If you love Allah (swt), for me.” Follow you to where, yaa Sayyidee? Wherever I went! How do you follow him? Start with sidq, only ask Allah (swt). Don’t ask others. Ask, “Yaa Rabbee. I want to reach Rasoolullah (s).” That’s why Sidi Ahmad was asking, “Yaa Rabbee. Make us join him.” It is the Grace of Allah (swt). It is the Grant of Allah (swt) to make you join Rasoolullah (s). Otherwise how will you go by yourself? We cannot even go one level up without going through steps. You cannot fly into Heavens like Rasoolullah (s) did. It is said he flew on the wings of angels then he flew on the wing of Jibreel (a) then rafraf came and took him. How can you reach that? We can only if Allah (swt) honors us by following him.

We have to be truthful. When you say, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, you have to be truthful with that. Muhammadun Rasoolullah. You have to be truthful with that and that door opens, inshaa-Allah. Inshaa-Allah, it opens for all of us. I don’t want to depress you any further that you are not going to reach anything except by Fadl of Allah (swt).

Dhalika fadlauillahi yu’teehi man yashaa’oo wa ‘l-Llahu dhul Fadli ‘l-`Azheem.

Such is the Bounty of Allah, which He bestows on whom He will: and Allah is the Lord of the highest bounty. (Surat al-Jumu`ah, 62:4)

Allah (swt) holds the keys for your treasures, holds the keys for samawati.

Lahu maqalidu ‘s-samawati wa ‘l-ard.

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: He enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to whom He will: for He knows full well all things. (Surat ash-Shura, 42:12)

All the keys are in His Hand. All the treasuries are in His Hand. When you come to Allah (swt) with truthfulness and sincerity, Allah (swt) will honor you. Inshaa-Allah, we can be from them. Ameen. May Allah (swt) allow us to reach that through the love of Rasoolullah (s). Inshaa-Allah, we can hook ourselves to him and move with him wherever he has gone.

Again, I thank everybody here and inshaa-Allah, we can repeat this every year if we can, if the Sufi Dallas Center invites me next time. Inshaa-Allah, we can meet again. Pray for me as well. I need your prayers that my love to Rasoolullah (s) grows, that my love to Allah (swt) grows. That love never ends. Do you know what Dawud means? Awliyaullah have said, da-wuda, he cured his heart, he was loved. Awliyaullah know better. Da-wee or da-waa means “he treated.” Your heart is sick with hubbu ‘d-dunya, with the pleasures of this world. When you treat your heart and cure your heart from the love of the pleasures of this world, you will be loved. Da-wee da-wuda, treat and be loved. He was loved.

Follow that too, that holy name of Nabiyullah Sayyidina Dawud (a) and Rasoolullah (s). He was given a book as well. Da-wuda, treat your heart and be loved by Allah (swt) and by the Messenger (s). Inshaa-Allah, we can try to get there. Ameen.

Thank you for listening. I ask Allah (swt) forgiveness if I have said something that is wrong.

Subhanaka wa bi hamdik Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah Ant. Astaghfirukallahu ‘l-Adheem wa atuby `ilay.

Wa ‘s-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`ala wa barakaatuh.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
