A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Awliyaullah can do a lot that we cannot and this place is open to you; they are not charging you to come here or to go to another place. It is you to whom Allah is sending inspiration to come and attend something that you cannot find out in the bazaar. We get from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and we give it to you.
So we have to know that they look at us in every 24 hours. We are under real muraaqabah, not that we are “correcting” it from here and there: it is real knowledge, it teaches you adab. Muraaqabah teaches you to look at yourself to understand, are you doing well or not well?
Behold! In the creation of Heaven and Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding, those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (saying), "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose! Glory to You! Grant us salvation from the torment of the Fire.” (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:190-191)
This ayah from Holy Qur’an tells you, “Be careful! You might fall, but dhikrullah keeps you standing. ” Alladheena yadhkaroona 'Llah qiyaaman wa qu`oodan wa `alaa junoobihim, those who remember Allah, yadhkaroona 'Llah, make dhikr for him in every 24 hours, they are accepted. So we have to know that our microscope is very strong, and like scientists, Awliyaullah can detect (what we, don't see). Say there is a target outside: they might reach the target and that’s it, they cannot reach more with their microscope or telescope. So al-adab ma`a ash-shaykh, to have adab with the shaykh is what is important, and I'll give you an example that you might find strange, but it is real; there is nothing strange in Tariqah.
Once a mureed came to his shaykh and said, “Yaa Sayyidee, I have fulfilled all the requirements you want from me and I am ready for seclusion.”
His shaykh said, “Are you sure? You have no more ghadab, anger?”
The mureed replied, “No, no, it is finished, none remains.”
So the shaykh said, “Okay, look at that mountain. Go there, and I will come to you in the evening at Maghrib and eat with you, and we’ll go down together. Then you will go home to your wife and I will go to the masjid.”
The mureed was happy, he wanted to do that, to get it, so he went running up the mountain. The shaykh left him and went to his work and then the mureed was under his strong scrutiny. Now, in his mind he was finished, there was nothing more to do, but he found that there was a lot more to do. However, he was one of those who remembers Allah standing, sitting, or lying down in his khalwah. Alladheena yadhkaroona 'Llah qiyaaman wa qu`oodan wa `alaa junoobihim. [...]
That mureed had gone up the mountain waiting for his shaykh. One day; the shaykh did not come, and the second day the shaykh did not come, the third day the shaykh did not come, the fourth day the shaykh did not come, fifth day the shaykh did not come, sixth day he did not come, until on the seventh day he saw the shaykh calling him from the bottom of the mountain. Seven days. The shaykh had told him to go to up the mountain and he went. He got tired and he faced these problems. What happened?
The shaykh said to the mureed, “Why didn’t you come down?” He was cursing him.
The mureed said, “Why? I was waiting for you. Yaa Sayyidee, you told me to make dhikrullah non-stop, and you did not come the first day, so I was waiting for you. So I lost you. Second day, third day, and all the other days you did not come. You told me to go the mountain and do dhikrullah, and that when you come, you will take me. You did not come to take me, so how can I go down the mountain when your order was not fulfilled? That’s why I didn’t come down, because I didn’t see you.”
[And for his food] he saw a small deer come, raise it’s leg, and the man sucked the milk from its udders.
“I didn’t see you, so what should I do? Since my shaykh said ‘wait for me,’ I waited, but you did not come.”
The shaykh said, “Okay, so I didn’t come on the second day, then?”
He said, “Yaa Sayyidee, I have adab. You have taught me not to break your orders. You said, “Go up and wait for me,” so I waited, so it is your mistake, not mine.” [Laughter.]
In Tariqah, much people have to think about a lot of events happen that they cannot carry, although it may be easy for some, but difficult for others. Inshaa-Allah we learn the way of adab, because it is most important in Tariqah and Shari`ah and Islam.
أدبني ربي فأحسن تأديبي
My Lord perfected my good manners and conduct. (Ibn `Asakir)
It means, “Allah has perfected me, made me clean, not carrying any kind of spiritual disease.” May Allah forgive us. May Allah bless you one by one. Let us ask this question: who is the one most loved in dunya?
[The one who reads the most durood on Rasool (s).]
That’s part of the answer. The most loved one is Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! There is no way to think that Prophet (s) is not attending this meeting. His power reaches everywhere, and he knows who is sitting here and who is making salawaat on him. Tomorrow, inshaa-Allah, we will speak on “Adabanee rabbee fa ahsana ta`adeebee. Allah gave me adab and perfected that adab, He didn’t hand Prophet (s) a bag of adab… But all his life, for that person who gives adab to Allah’s Beloved One Sayyidina Muhammad (s), Allah will make adab to you, because He is the one Who said:
إنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ياأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا
Verily, Allah and His angels send praise on the Prophet. O Believers! Pray upon him and greet him with a worthy salutation! (Surat al-'Ahzaab, 33:56)
So the salawaat is written for those who make salawaat on Prophet (s) in dunya. Allah said, “salloo `alayhi, salloo `aala 'n-nabiyy,” He didn’t say, “salloo `alaya.” Allah wants people to make salawaat on Prophet (s), although we have to make salawaat, but Allah’s salawaat is higher. He didn’t order our worship except a little bit here, a little bit there. But He gave permission to recite salawaat on Prophet (s) as often as you can, and even for people to love you because of it, because as much as you make salawaat on Prophet (s), that much more Allah and Prophet (s) make salawaat on you when you need it. And Awliyaullah need that (benefit) because they clean all their followers from all dirtiness when they are called.
May Allah (swt) clean us. May Allah give us the barakah of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! Allahumma salli `alayka yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Rahmatan li ‘l-`Alameen. So he (s) is in the garden of flowers. Prophet (s) didn’t ask, Allah gave! We ask and Allah gave also, because we love Prophet (s). I tell you, put a love letter to Allah and His Prophet (s) in your pocket: it will stay forever until the Day of Judgement. Don’t think we are losers: no, we are Prophet's lovers! So if someone loves someone else, he leaves everything in his life to love that one who loves him. Prophet (s) is opening for all of us the door of love for him! May Allah make us from those kind of people and bless us.
Bi hurmati ‘l-habeeb bi hurmati’ l-Fatihah. Taqabbal Allah.
