A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem.
Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.
Laa hawla wa laa quwatta illa billahi 'l-`Aliyyu 'l-`Azheem.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbi ‘l-`Alameen wa salaatu wa salaam `alaa ashfrafi ‘l-Mursaleen, Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa alihi wa ‘s-Sahaabi ajma`een.
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
May Allah (swt) make our gathering a blessed one. May Allah (swt) forgive the sins and mistakes we have made from the past week until now. This is Yaumu ‘l-Jumu`ah. Allah (swt) will forgive all the sins. That’s why we all come, confessing to Allah (swt) that we have made mistakes and we are asking Allah (swt) to forgive them and allow us to make complete repentance, not only from last week to this week but also last month and last year and the years before. May Allah (swt) forgive us with the shafa`ah of Rasoolullah (s), with the barakah and noor that he has shown to us.
How are you praying? Did you learn from your father or mother? Where did they learn it from? Rasoolullah (s) learned it from Sayyidina Jibreel (a) and he taught it to the Ummah and it has come to us. That is the way to Allah (swt). We thank Allah (swt) for the ni`mah of Rasoolullah (s). He is your ni`mah. He is the greatest ni`mah to mankind.
Of course, imam sahab spoke in a language that I don’t know or understand but I can understand and feel that he is very sincere in his love to Rasoolullah (s) and he wants to convey that love from his heart to your hearts. That is why he is praising him and sitting.
How many languages are there in the world? How many `alims speak different languages in the world? It is said there are 700,000 languages according to Islamic knowledge, according to the knowledge that we have received from our shuyookh. Sayyidina Adam (a) was taught 700,000 languages, the languages of all his children.
Imagine, Rasoolullah (s) is praised in every language! Can you comprehend his greatness? In every language in this world, Rasoolullah (s) is praised and everybody is praising him differently. His level of love to Rasoolullah (s) is over others and others may be over others. Everyone praises Rasoolullah (s) according to their own understanding of Rasoolullah (s). How many different praises exist in this world? You’re not the same as him. He’s not the same as him. Everybody’s understanding is different. In each of our understandings there are different ways of praising Rasoolullah (s) and that’s the same with angels. Angels are at different levels. Each angel praises Rasoolullah (s) in a different form, with a different word. Not every angel praises Rasoolullah (s) the same way. Everybody is different.
How great is Rasoolullah (s)? In every corner of this world, whose name is always mentioned five times a day? Which king? Which president? Which prime minister, old and new? Which famous rich one is mentioned five times a day all over the world and they’re not getting any money back. Did he pay people to call his name during adhan? Did Rasoolullah (s) put in his will, “Please keep repeating my name in the adhan. I will give you money. I will give you gold.” No! How does that happen? Who’s forcing them to call the adhan and keep his name there?
How great is Rasoolullah (s)? That is why Sayyidina Imam al-Busayri (q) has said, fa inna fadhla Rasoolullahi laysa lahu hadhun. The greatness of Rasoolullah (s) has no limit! The praises of Rasoolullah (s) have no limit! The way you can praise Rasoolullah (s): human, jinn, mala`ikah, everything, has no limit.
Fa ma yu`reedu anhum natiqum bi faami. No one that has a mouth, that can utter words can describe the greatness of Rasoolullah (s), no matter how hard you try. You can be the top allama of the world now or back then and you still cannot reach what Rasoolullah (s) is really about. No one can understand! That is why you say, Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad. Yaa Rabbee! You are the One to send salaatu ‘s-salam on him, not us. Our knowledge is limited. As You know him, yaa Rabbee, You send salaatu ‘s-salam on that one. Who is that one? It is for us to know a little bit of Rasoolullah (s).
Astaghfirullah. I am not the one that knows the fadl as Sayyidina Imam al-Busayri (q) said. Fa inna fadhla Rasoolullahi laysa lahu hadhun. The fadl of Rasoolullah (s) has no limits. My words cannot limit what he is about. That is al-Haqqiqatu ‘l-Muhammadiyya, al-Haqqiqu ‘l-Ahmadiyya. Not even Awliyaullah can reach that Haqqiqah, that reality of Rasoolullah (s). It’s far above our understanding. It is iman. `Aql can reach a certain point. It can memorize certain verses and poems and that’s about it. Your `aql cannot take you further. That is the noor of iman that comes to the qalb.
Rasoolullah (s) said about himself:
كنت نبيا وآدم بين الروح والجسد
Kuntu nabiyyan wa Adam bayn ar-rooh wa 'l-jasad.
I was a Prophet when Adam was between soul and body.
You have heard this Hadith before. “I was a Nabi when Adam was between soul and body.” Adam was not yet made. He was not combined. His soul and body did not come to make Adam (a). He was still in the process and “I was Nabi.” What does that mean? Kuntu makhlooqa. “I was created. Adam was not created yet. I was seeing him. He was between soul and body.”
Can you try to understand further? “I am seeing him in the process of being created. I was a Nabi. I was given prophecy, I was given prophethood, I was given messengerhood when he was still not a nabi.” None of the others are nabi. All of the Anbiya came after they came to this world and after they reached that purity and then Allah (swt) gave them that prophecy.
Sayyidina Musa (a) had to go to Shu`ayb (a). He had to escape from Firaun. He had to purify himself at the hands of Nabiyullah Shu`ayb (a) for ten years as it is said. In the Qur’an it says eight or ten. Some Awliya have said eight and others have said ten. But he had given himself to the training of Nabiyullah Shu`ayb (a). He married his daughter and walked back to Egypt. He completed the conditions of being able to receive Divine Revelation. He received the Divine Revelation at Tur Sina. He was not ready at the beginning. Sayyidina Musa (a) did not reach prophethood until he was on earth.
Sayyidina `Isa (a) did not reach prophethood until he was on earth. All other Anbiyaullah did not reach prophethood until they were on earth. But Rasoolullah (s) said, “I was created, I was a Prophet and I saw Adam between soul and body.” This is mentioned by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad.
There is another riwayah but they say that one is not correct. It is mawdu’ah as they always complain about the Hadith that elevates the greatness of Rasoolullah (s). It’s as if they are on the earth to bring him down. You cannot bring him down! In the Holy Qur’an, Allah (swt) said:
وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ
Wa rafa`naa laka dhikrak
And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)? (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:4)
What more miracle do you want that Allah (swt)’s Words are true. You are somebody who was an orphan, you are somebody whose own people did not believe in, you were somebody who had no power behind you, no army, no soldiers, no World Bank, no IMF, no whatever. You had nothing behind you except Allah (swt), of course.
You go out, fa asda bima tu’maru, say what you were ordered!
Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. (Surat al-Hijr, 15:94)
Rasoolullah (s) said, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah, and I will continue my struggle until everybody says, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah. How great that one is! Allah (swt) said:
Wa raf`ana laka dhikrak. I will put up your dhikr. Wa raf`ana. We have elevated you. To where? Allah (swt) did not put a hadh, a limit. Wa rafa`na. It is said that even on the `Arsh his name is mentioned, Sayyidina Rasoolullah (s). His name is Muhamamd. As Imam Sahib was explaining, Muhammad means, “The praised one.” Okay, who’s praising him? All creation is praising him! It is an order by Allah (swt) for everybody to praise him. Everything, nabat, shajar, hajar, all of them. There was even a stone in Makkah before he was a Nabi that was saying, “As-salamu `alayka, yaa Rasoolullah!” He was sending salam. It’s the order of Allah (swt). Everything will greet what Allah (swt) loves.
Muhammad. He is the most praised one. What did Sayyidina Isa (a) say? “He is Ahmed.” Everything praises Rasoolullah (s) by his good characteristics, by his good servanthood, by his good `uboodiyya, `ibadah, `abdiyya--all of the maqams he has reached. Also, he is the one who praises Allah (swt) the most. Ahmad means, “The one who gives the best hamd.” Creation reaches to Muhammad. Muhammad is represented by creation to give hamd to Allah (swt). That is why he said Ahmad. The one who is the most praising of the Lord Almighty is Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Sayyidina Isa called him:
Wa idh qaala `Isa ’bnu Maryam yaa Bani Isra’eel: innee rasoolullahi ilaykum musadiqan lima bayna yadaya mina ‘t-Tawrati wa mubbashiran bi rasoolin ya’tee mim ba`dee ’smuhu Ahmad fa lammaa ja’ahum bil-bayinaati qaaloo hadha sihrun mubeen.
And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of an Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to them with Clear Signs, they said, "this is evident sorcery!" (Surat as-Saff, 61:6)
Ahmad, the one who can give the most praises. Nobody can put a limit to the greatness of Rasoolullah (s).
He saw Sayyidina Adam (a) between ruh and jasad. Awliyaullah have said that Rasoolullah (s) saw the creation of Adam (a). He also saw the honor that Adam (a) received because he was created and he was a Prophet and Adam (a) was still in the process, between soul and body. He saw Sayyidina Adam (a)’s honoring and entrance into Jannah. Rasoolullah (s) saw Adam’s (a) exit from Jannah. Rasoolullah (s) saw what happened to Adam (a) when he came down. He was created and he was a Prophet and Adam (a) was not created. He saw all of the things that Adam (a) went through. Not only that, he saw the order that angels received to make sajdah to Adam (a). Rasoolullah (s) witnessed all of that.
“I was a Nabi.” “To be.” “I’m not somewhere else. I was there as a Prophet.” That is why all of the prophets got their `ilm from Rasoolullah (s) because he is Saahibu ‘r-Risalah. Allah (swt) gave him. As the Hadith states, the first Nabi is him. Nabiyullah asalatan. It originally started with him and branched out to all of the rest. He was in the lineage of Sayyidina Isma’eel (a), Sayyidina Ibrahim (s), Sayyidina Nuh (a) and the rest. He was in them physically but he was also with them spiritually.
This is Haqqiqah. You cannot see it yourself. You cannot find it in books. You have to first have a good mind. It is the `aql that has cleaned itself from all imagination. How many times does Allah (swt) say, ulu’albab, in the Holy Qur’an?
Rasoolullah (s)’s knowledge trickled down to the prophets and then he summed them all up with his message. What does Sayyidina Imam al-Busayri (q) say? Wa kullu min Rasoolillahi kun multamisun. “Multamisun” means even touching. They’re just touching a little bit of his ocean. They are taking a little bit from the drops of his knowledge and giving it to their nations respectively.
Imam al-Busayri (q) was Waliyullah. What he saw is not what you see. What you see is your Whatsapp and Instagram. What they see is something else. Sayyidina Imam al-Busayri (q) said, “All of them, Anbiya and Awliya. Not only Anbiya but everyone, kullu.” He did not specify which group. All are taking from Rasoolullah (s). They are touching a little bit, multamisoon, asking from him gharfa mina ‘l-bahri aw rashfa mina ‘d-diya, a fistful from his ocean or a little bit from the tiny drop that can come down to them. That is enough for all of us.
It is said that the knowledge of all `ulama and all Anbiya in the Ocean of Rasoolullah’s knowledge is like a drop. All of his knowledge in the Knowledge Ocean of Allah (swt) is also like a drop. That is why Allah (swt) told him: Wa qul Rabbi zidnee `ilma.
High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge." (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:114)
Grant me more knowledge. Your Knowledge is unlimited, yaa Allah (swt). Rasoolullah (s) was still `abd. Don’t elevate yourself. Don’t exalt yourself. Don’t increase yourself, “I know something.” The more you know, the more ignorant you are because if you’re not jahil, how are you learning? So many of us, when we know a little bit of stuff, we become very proud but the order is, “Yaa Rabbee. Zidni `ilma. Yaa Rabbee. I’m still little.”
Allah (swt) says, Wa maa uteetu min al-`ilmi illa qaleela.
Wa yasaloonaka `ani ‘r-ruhi qul ar-ruhu min amri Rabbee wa maa uteetum mina ‘l-`ilmi illa qaleela.
They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" (Surat al-Isra, 17:85)
You have not been given from `ilm except a little bit. No matter how much `ilm you know from `Azal to Abad, Allah (swt)’s Words are true. You are only given from `ilm a little bit. It doesn’t change. Do you think it changes? You were not given from `ilm except a little. Do you think Allah’s (swt) Words change? In `Azal we cannot get `ilm except a little bit. It’s the same in Abad. Allah’s (swt) Knowledge is unlimited but according to your understanding, you can increase in that `ilm.
What is that `ilm for? To follow Rasoolullah (s) more correctly. It’s not `ilm for you to reach more of dunya. It is `ilm to reach more of Akhirah, to reach more closeness to Rasoolullah (s). Everything you learn and practice is supposed to bring you closer to Rasoolullah (s), not closer to a post, not closer to a council, not closer to a government, not closer to a sultan. Their kingdom or power leaves. Allah (swt)’s Power never leaves. You will become sultanu ‘l-Akhirah. Rasoolullah (s) came to make you a sultan in Akhirah, not a sultan of dunya. Understand the message of Rasoolullah (s). He never called people to dunya. He told them, “Leave that. Turn to Mawla.”
Alhamdulillah, we are trying our best. Everybody is doing according to their understanding. You cannot do more than what you are.
On no soul does Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:286)
Alhamdulillah. JazakamAllahu khayran. JazAllahu Muslimeena khayra ‘l-jazaa. Ameen. Ameen. Ameen. Bi humati ‘l-Taha wa Yasin wa ‘l-hamdulillahi Rabbi ‘l-`Alameen.
