Our Goal is to Fully Submit Our Will to Allah (swt)

Zhuhr Suhbah

As-saalamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad (s) wa `alaa aali Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.

There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

If someone is strong he walks and everyone runs away, afraid of him; if he goes to the gym and he becomes a giant with big muscles, like that, everyone will run away, they cannot make him upset. What do you think of Allah when He said, “Allahu Akbar!” and we say, “Allahu Akbar!” to Him? He can crush us completely and He doesn’t mind; if even one person made the mistake, Allah will punish everyone.

Grandshaykh `AbdAllah, may Allah bless his soul, wanted to explain that and he said once Sayyidina Musa (a) went to his place where he prays and said, “Yaa Rabbee, You give to the one that doesn’t deserve or sometime You give to someone that deserves. I want to see Your justice.”

The answer came, “Yaa Musa, you don’t need to enter that ocean that you cannot understand. Once I sent you to one of My servants, Sayyidina Khidr (a), to learn from him and you were not able to understand My justice and My will and you complained.” And we are complaining in everything. You have to stop complaints because your complaints will go nowhere! Submit! Submit. If you submit in dunya you will find reward in Akhirah, if you don’t submit in dunya you will not find reward in Akhirah.

He said, “But I want to have peace in my heart! I don’t understand when Your punishment comes and it destroys everything.” When Allah sends an affliction He sends tornadoes, as mentioned in Surat ar-Ra`d. “You send punishment, You punish everyone although there are some people that didn’t do anything wrong, so how does that work?”

Allah (swt) said, “Yaa Musa, go to that field, sit on that bench and I will show you My justice that you can’t understand.”

Soon after sitting there, a lot of peaceful ants came up his leg. Allah ordered the highest leading ant, like the one that ordered all ants when Sayyidina Sulayman (a) approached:

قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَانُ وَجُنُودُهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

One of the ants said, "O Ants! Enter your homes unless Sulayman and his armies unknowingly trample you." (Surat an-Naml, 27:18)

That kind of ant receives special Tajalli in dunya and by Allah's order can take it everywhere, in homes, stores, jungles. They give something spiritual so that you might end up entering Paradise for small bits of food that fall on the ground and the ants come to eat it. Because of that Allah rewards that one that ate and trapped for him some of this food and if there is no ants there he takes it. Those crumbs of food that fall that ants didn’t take, still there is barakah in it for dunya and Akhirah. So that ant said, “Be careful.” Allah ordered these kinds of ants to come on his leg and through angels told the leader ant, “Now bite him!” and executing Allah’s Order, the ant bit Sayyidina Musa (a), who stood up and rubbed all the ants off his leg.

Then the answer came, “Yaa Musa! What are you doing?” He said, “Yaa Rabbee, one ant bit me!” Allah said, “What about the others? Why did you kill them all Similarly, yaa Musa, when something happens My Revenge will take everyone, the one who is good or bad: either I take his soul or leave him to live. His soul will go to Paradise, but I will take punishment from all.”

That punishment is a cleaning process for all the ants, so be an ant! Did you see any ants objecting? Peacefully they go all the way to find their crumbs of food and come back, and human beings crush them according to a principle of Fiqh, القاعدة الفقهية: كل مضر يقتل, “Everything harmful must be terminated (killed).” Even if your ego harms you, you have to kill your ego, but he didn’t say, “Kill yourself.” And the example is that Sayyidina Musa (a) objected about the ant, then Allah showed him, “Because of one, I destroy all.” Make sure that your safety is necessary.

Everything we do, make your intention for it to be sadaqa and then Allah will write it for you as sadaqa; even if you raised water from a well for someone thirsty, Allah will reward you with Paradise! The Prophet (s) said in a well-known Hadith, one time a man was passing through the desert where they used to have publics wells for caravans to drink. Prophet (s) said that a man was drinking at a well, quenching his thirst, and when he was finished he saw a dog that came with adab, after the man had finished drinking, and he tried to get water from the well but was not able because the water was deep and he would have fallen in. So what did he do? He saw the dog was thirsty and he took his shoes, went down into the well, filled his shoes with water for the dog to quench its thirst. Immediately, Allah ordered His angels to take the soul of that man to Paradise, because he did that favor for a dog!

Islam is always rahmat from Allah (swt) to His servants and if you follow it correctly, Allah will bless you with His mercy and you will enter the circle of ar-Ruhamaa, the Merciful Ones. Then you will not look with these eyes, Allah will give you eyes of rahmah. This coming holy month Rajab, which begins March 26th or 27th, is the month of rahmah declared among Awliyaullah in the East and West as a very ‘carrying’ month. Allah opened from His Ocean of Rahmat for Prophet (s) to give Awliya and from them to the Ummah to quench their thirst from His Rahmat. It is Rahmat al-Ilahiyya fee Bahri Qudratillah `azza wa jall that Allah will send to those who are keeping the month of Rajab clean.

Most of you know the story narrated by Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, which are not stories but facts. There was in the time of the Prophet (s), one notorious person who was the worst of people in his city: he kidnapped children, robbed people of their money, he was a burglar and did a lot of things against the people of his city. Everyone was afraid from him, they complained but he was not accepting, he was still a burglar. When he died, a crowd of children threw his body in an empty well, the people didn't bury him in the cemetery of Muslims, no one washed him or wrapped him in a kaffan, they left him in that well.

Then Allah sent Jibreel (a) to the Prophet (s) and he said, “Yaa Muhammad! One of Allah's saints has died today. Go to that place and take that person out. Wash him, pray on him, put a kaffan on him and bury him.” Allah sent the Prophet (s) to help that person who did not have anyone except a daughter. The Prophet (s) was so astonished about this, Grandshaykh (q) said the Sahaabah (r) saw him walking on his tiptoes.

Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) asked, “Yaa Rasoolullah, why are you walking on your toes?”

The Prophet (s) said, “O Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), don't ask. What I saw and heard today, I am astonished! Allah raised him a wali.”

So they called his daughter and asked, “What was your father doing?”

She said, “Eleven months of the year he was a burglar and when the month of Rajab came, he closed the door of his room and stayed there reciting a prayer all month, but afterwards he was still a burglar.”

He had akhlaaq adh-dhameemah, the worst of manners, although not kufr. Then Allah said to Prophet (s):

انما بعثت لاتمم مكارم الاخلاق

I have been sent to perfect the best of conduct (your behavior and character). (Bazzaar)

And the Prophet (s) said, “I came to perfect the manners and behaviors of people,” and that burglar was perfected because he respected the month of Rajab, which is the month of Allah (swt), as He says:

رجب شهر الله، وشعبان شهري، ورمضان شهر أمتي

Rajab is Allah's month, Sha`baan is my month and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah.

(Abul-Fath ibn Abi Fawaris in his `Amalee from al-Hasan)

He respected that month, but what about respecting human beings or Sahaabah (r) or Awliyaullah and ordinary people? Respect by someone who was a burglar brought him from disrespect to respect, to be honored such that the Prophet (s) buried him, because he respected the month of Allah, Rajab. He told his daughter, “This is the month of Allah and I am respecting it. I am secluding myself in my room. Only bring me my food when I need it and water for my wudu.” If this is for respecting the month of Allah, what about respecting Allah (swt)? Will you be rewarded as if you are respecting a month? No, you will be rewarded more! To respect a wali means you are respecting Allah's (swt) Creation, because Awliyaullah appear in the Divine Presence. If you respect them it means you hare having an appearance in the Divine Presence, which is why it is mentioned:

عِنْدَ ذِكْرِ الصَّالِحِينَ تَنْزِلُ الرَّحْمَةُ

When the names of the pious are mentioned Allah’s Mercy descends. (Narrated Sufyan ibn `Uyayana in Imam Ahmad’s Zuhd)

By mentioning the names of the pious people rahmat comes down. The Sahaabah (r) respected the Prophet (s) so much that they devoted their lives to him. As Ummat an-Nabi (s), we must have the intention, Yaa Rasoolullah fidaaka abee wa ummee, wa ahlee, wa awlaadee, wa ʿaaʾilatee, “Yaa Rasoolullah, (for your sake) I am willing to surrender myself, my father, my mother, my family, my children.”

So for respecting that month, which is coming in a few days, I think it will be Wednesday 27th March, and then on the 31st is Laylat al-Raghaa’ib, the night Prophet (s) was conceived by his mother and his father. On that night, all Paradises are decorated. With what? Wherever you turn your face in Paradise, Awliyaullah see the Prophet (s). Everywhere they look, up, down, right, left, even at the Lawh al-Mahfoozh, everything appears as the image of the Prophet (s)! That is for them, not us. No one can get that honor. That is why Grandshaykh (q) said there is a special Paradise for all Awliyaullah from the beginning up to the Day of Resurrection, Jannat al-Muhammadiyoon, the Jannah of Muhammadan people. However many Awliyaullah came, as there are always have to be 124000 Wali; when one dies another takes his place. People will know when they reach that level, when Allah dressed them with sainthood, and they will understand the verse:

وإعلموا أن فيكم رسول الله

And know Allah's Messenger is in you. (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:7)

You have to know that the Prophet (s) is in you, with you, and among you so when we notice that, if we can following footsteps of Awliyaullah, then you will be amazed. That is why Allah said in Holy Qur'an:

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Qul in kuntum tuhibboona 'Llaaha fattabi`oonee yuhbibkumullaahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum w 'Allaahu Ghafooru 'r-Raheem.

Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)

“If you really love Allah, follow me I will take you to Him, I will connect you to be able to be in that Presence.”

So that Wali, Prophet (s) took him, washed him, cleaned him put kaffan on him and took him to bury him and was walking on his toes, saying to Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), “Don't ask me, I am astonished like you!” Why was he walking on his toes? Because there was no place for him to put his feet due to the angels coming to attend that funeral.

Rajab is Allah's month, Sha`baan is my month and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah.

(Abul-Fath ibn Abi Fawaris in his `Amalee from al-Hasan)

Forty days seclusion in Rajab made today with an intention of entering seclusion, even if you did not enter but you had the intention, Allah (swt) will grant to you the secrets of that khalwah, because Allah (swt) will open from His Mercy what He opened to that man, Allah will immerse you in in Bahru ’l-Qudrah. This is granted to this Rajab, even for five minutes! Even if you cannot enter seclusion because it is difficult, you can perform extra worship during these three times:

1. Before Fajr by half an hour you wake up and you do your Awraad until Ishraaq.

2. From `Asr one hour before Maghrib for one hour.

3. Between Maghrib and `Isha.

Keep these three times, even if you are working. Make salawaat and dhikr, then you will be:

من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم

Who imitates a group of people are from them. (Abu Dawood)

If you imitate a group of people you will be resurrected with them; they put you in that circle to be with whom you love And whom you love is responsible to take you to the presence of the Prophet (s)! Awliyaullah, even if they left dunya, their power from Akhirah is stronger than it was in dunya, as narrated in many Ahadeeth. May Allah forgive us and open for us.

The State of Tasleemiyya, Total Surrender to Allah’s Will

So He said, “Yaa Musa, when I punish one I don't look who is there, I punish all, and when I forgive one I forgive all. But come to Me and ask forgiveness, don’t come and complain.” Everyone is complaining for certain things. There is no tasleemiyya and, therefore, it is not easy. Tasleemiyya Mutlaqa means you are a dead body: if they turn you right or left, you don't complain. Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) was in his tasleemiyya when they threw stones at him, he did not resist. His attitude was, “Do you want to kill me? Kill me.” Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said even for Awliya it is very difficult to have complete tasleemiyya as still there is rejection and objection, but quickly when that khaatir, thought, comes to your heart, don't follow it, let it go, because it is dangerous, so ask forgiveness. Tasleemiyya is not an easy situation. In Holy Qur’an it is mentioned that Sayyidina Yusuf (a) was surrendering to Allah's Will, then two prisoners narrated their dreams to him. He told the first one, “A bird eating from your head means they are going to kill you,” and he told the other one, who was carrying wine in the dream, “Mention me to your king.” Allah made that second one forget, so Sayyidina Yusuf (a) was in the jail for thirty-seven years (some tafseers say it was seven years), because he did not have complete tasleemiyya. That is a prophet!

The whale swallowed Sayyidina Yunus (a) because he didn't have complete tasleemiyya. Sayyidina Nuh (a) and Sayyidina Ibrahim (a) had complete tasleemiyya. May Allah give us tasleemiyya, submission, surrendering completely to Allah. You cannot change anything. If you fall down and die now, what happens?

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree. She cried (in her anguish), "Ah! would that I had died before this! Would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!" [Surah Maryam, 19:23]

[Sayyida Maryam (a) said,] yaa laytanee mittu qabla haadhaa wa kuntu nasiyan mansiyya, “I wish I had been forgotten before this happened!” she also objected! Only the Prophet (s) is in full tasleemiyya, and Awliyaullah are on his Way according to their levels, but they are not yet in full tasleemiyya. May Allah (swt) forgive us and dress us in the dress of submission.

When you die, what do you take with you? They put you on the floor and then in a box, take you to the cemetery, then you become a thing forgotten. They come visit in one week, two weeks, three weeks, but after forty days finished, they don’t come to the cemetery any more. What we took from running after dunya? Nothing. When we become old, we cannot do it any more. You are young now, do it: buy Akhirah with dunya. Don't follow what Iblees says, submit to Allah's Will and you win Akhirah. But subhaan-Allah, everyone is greedy, Allah gives you something and still you ask for more, no one is submitting. Yaa Rabbee, You know best that we are greedy, yes. We are stingy, yes. We are helpless, yes. We are bad, yes. Everything wrong is within us. Perfect us so we have nothing in our hands, clean us, keep us under the wings of Prophet (s) and Awliyaullah, take that pride and arrogance and fight from within us and make us submit and surrender!

Wa min Allah at-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

HOW TO PRESERVE CLEANLINESS

Millions of books are in bookstores and libraries, but what do they benefit? Nothing! If you don’t follow love Allah and His Prophet (s) and the Shari`ah of Islam you are a loser. Apply Shari`ah on yourself, not on others! Leave others Allah will protect, Allah will judge.

It is true you (O Muhammad) will not be able to guide everyone whom you love, but Allah guides those whom He wills and He knows best those who receive guidance. (Surat al-Qassas, 28:56)

Look after your own mistakes, audit yourself, account for yourself, because if you audit yourself every day you will begin to know what kind of mistakes you are making, like taking notes, so in the evening you examine problems you had during the day and see how they repeat themselves every day. When you see something wrong, too much on the bad side, balance it with istighfaar, then you begin to balance the books and you benefit. But we don't do that.

People take notes when listening to professors, who don’t clean themselves after urinating. How is he going to stand in front of Allah and answer? Allah made wudu necessary five times a day, and showering. If you want to be more pious, after every time you go the bathroom, clean yourself and make wudu, then Allah will reward you and erase all the bad things from you. That is what wudu is for: to prepare you to be in Presence of Allah and the Prophet (s). Whenever you lose it, make new one. That is what is important, to clean you.

Awliyaullah first teach to make wudu, to be clean. Don’t sit in a circle of dhikrullah without wudu or Awliyaullah will not be happy with you. Even the Prophet (s) urged the Sahaabah (r) “Raise your sleeves as much as you can half way between the elbow and the shoulder,” because when you wash that area in wudu it will become light that everyone on the Day of Resurrection will see. Now we don't do that, we don't even make wudu! Every bite you eat without wudu will curse you!

If you count Allah’s blessings you can never encompass all of them. (Surat al-Nahl, 16:18)

Allah is giving you from these favors to make wudu and eat, then that food will become rahmat on you, but we don’t care. If you forget, at least remember to say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” at beginning and end of eating something to thank Allah. These small things Allah gave to us as mercy, such as,“SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem, astaghfirullah.” We say this du`a now, but most `ulama don't mention it, although it is one of biggest ways to get Allah and the Prophet (s) to forgive you. They speak about the highest level of Shari`ah that no one can comprehend except `ulama! No, speak on our level, we are helpless! Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah we are helpless, we have nothing in our hands, and if you don’t reach us we will be lost! If he (s) touches us, that is enough for us!

Allah (swt) said in Hadith Qudsee:

ما جلس قوم يذكرون الله إلا نزلت عليهم السكينة و غشيتهم الرحمة و حفتهم الملائكة و ذكرهم الله في من عنده

And no group of people sit together remembering Allah except with tranquility descending upon them, mercy covering them, and the angels surrounding them, and Allah mentioning them to those in His Presence. (Muslim)

Haffa has two or three meanings; haffat-hum means ‘to touch/rub them,’ hif ash-shawaarib, wa `afuw `an al-lahiy. He (s) said, “Try to trim your moustaches,” and you see some people, they are good people, they take it out out completely, and leave your beards to grow. The Prophet’s beard was one qabda (length of one handful), because after one hand it broke by itself, he didn’t cut it, and that was for the Sahaabah (r) to collect the beard hair of the Prophet (s). What kind of barakah do you want more than that? So many hairs fell and the Sahaabah (r) collected them. Sayyidina Khalid ibn al-Waleed (r) preserved eleven hairs of the Prophet’s beard, which is why the kuffaar were unable to kill him. He had 101 wounds and did not die from them, he died much later of natural causes in his bed, because he kept the Holy Hair of the Prophet (s) in his sleeve and turban. O `ulama! Speak to us about these virtues, don't speak about punishment! Yassiroo wa laa tu`assiroo!

[Prophet (s) said:] Make things easy and do not make things difficult. (Bukhari, Muslim)

May Allah make our lives easy, not difficult! He is The Most Generous! If He gives us from His Treasure, will His Treasure end? No. He will give, maa laa `aynun raa’at wa laa udhunun sami`at wa laa khatar `alaa qalbi bashar, “What an eye cannot see, an ear cannot hear and you can never imagine what Allah has prepared for you.” Why did Prophet (s) say this Hadith? That is something special to Heavens, that no eye saw or ear heard nor any heart imagined, nothing can describe it. Where are Heavens, in the universe? No, because the ‘universe’ has a shape, so Heavens are beyond the universe. Where are they?

Qaaf! By the Glorious Qur’an! But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. So the unbelievers say, “This is a strange thing: when we die and become dust, how can we be resurrected? Such a return is far-fetched.” We indeed know how the earth will consume their bodies. With Us is a Retaining Record. (Surat Qaaf, 50:1-4)

`Ulama say “Qaaf” is a place; Awliyaullah say it is a mountain behind the Earth and this universe, and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, may Allah bless their souls, said that “Qaaf “ is a place that no one knows where it is; it is beyond hadd ad-dunya, related to Akhirah. Just now they pulled it out from me, I was going to say what is behind Qaaf.

Qaaf wa ‘l-qur’ani ‘l-majeed there is fee harf `atif, there is “wa” between the two words Qaaf wa ‘l-qur’an and bal `ajiboo an jaa’ahum mundhirun minhum fa qaala ‘l-kaafiroona hadha shay’un `ajeeb. That is something astonishing, something no one thought about or imagined before. That is the second time I remembered it, and then they pulled it out. Allah put Qaaf and Qur’ani ’l-Majeed in one place in that verse! He didn’t put a full stop there, it’s connected: Qaaf wa ‘l-qur`ani ’l-majeed is one verse, not like Alif. Laam. Meem., or Qaaf. Haa. Yaa. `Ayn. Saad., or Haa. Meem., Or Alif. Laam. Raa., or this or that. No! It is Qaaf wa ‘l-qur’ani ’l-majeed, there is a "tunnel" between the two words. So what is that Qaaf by which Allah is giving an oath?

In the Divine Presence when Allah asked the Prophet (s), “Sifnee, ya Muhammad!” What did he (s) answer? Qaala Anta ’l-Qahhaar, “You are The Majestic One that destroys everything and power over all.” Allah said, “Why did you say that?” Prophet (s) said, “With Your Power, You destroy all sins and we become clean.” So that Qaaf is a cleansing process by which Allah will clean humanity! Every letter has meaning and Allah will dress us with that. Qaaf is qahhaar adh-dhunoob wa qahhaar al-zhulm, which is to overpower sin and oppression and all bad behavior so the `abd will be clean in 24 hours. But what do you need? You need only to open Holy Qur'an and pass your finger under each letter, because we are speaking to non-Muslims and non-Arabs who don’t read Arabic, so put your finger on the verse, even one page, to show you opened the Holy Qur'an.

May Allah forgive us for sake of Holy Qur'an and for sake of the Prophet (s)!

Wa min Allahi t-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
