Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Qaala Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (r) in his Musnad:

`an tariq ibn Shihab qaal: anna rasoolullahi sall-allahu `alayhi wa sallam qaal: dakhal rajulun al-jannata fee dhubaab wa dakhala rajulun al-naar fee dhubaab. Qaaloo: kayfa dhaalika yaa Rasoolullah? Qaaloo lahu: qarrab wa law dhubaaban, fa qarraba dhubaaban, fa khalaw sabeelahu fa dakhal an-naar. wa qaaloo li’l-aakhir: qarrib. Fa-qaala: ma kuntu li-uqarrib li-ahad shayyan doonillah `azza wa jall fa daraboo `anaqahu fa dakhal al-jannat. haadhihi ’l-kalimatu ’l-waheed yatakallamu bihaa al-`abd yahwi bihaa fi ’n-naar `abada maa bayna al-mashriqi wa ‘l-maghrib.

He is saying, “A person entered Paradise for a black fly and Allah sent a similar person to Hellfire because of a fly.” One entered Paradise because of a fly and one entered Hell because of a fly. They (the Sahaabah) said, “Yaa Rasoolullah! How did this happen?”

He (s) said, “Two men were passing by a village where there was a statue,” meaning there were idol-worshippers in that area. No one could pass through that village without giving a sacrifice to that idol. So when the first one approached, they said to him, “Sacrifice something to the idol.”

He said, “I am sorry, I am a poor person, I don’t have anything to give the idol.”

They said, “Even a fly,” meaning, “At least you gave him something.” So he caught a fly, killed it and put it in front of the idol for animals to eat.

I have seen this many times in different countries such as in Thailand, Bali and even in Indonesia; those villages with idol-worshippers will put food out at night. When you ask them why they are putting food they say, “Creatures come at night and eat from that sacrifice we made.”

And so they let the first person go inside after he sacrificed a fly. Allah sent that person to Hellfire. Then the second one came. They stopped him and said, “You have to give something to the idol, even a fly.”

He said, “Even if I had a fly, I would not give it to the idol, I give everything to Allah!”

That person entered Paradise. That is to tell us that one word you might say might send you to Hellfire and one word might make you go to Paradise. It means open your mind! One word you might say, maybe Allah doesn’t like that word, and how many times do we say words that Allah doesn’t like? You might forget to repent and that word might be written for you and it might take you to punishment! That’s why he said, “With one word you might fall in punishment, from one word, you might fall into a punishment from Allah.”

O Believers! How many words are we saying on our tongues? I hear many people say the word that begins with “s” (s---). It is becoming like a custom in this country on the tongues of people. They say it without recognizing what they are saying. If they are planning to go to Hajj and they go there and something wrong happens there, their tongue slips immediately and they utter that word that begins with “s” without thinking! One sin is multiplied by 100,000 times in Mecca.

There are many people who face a problem; this applies to here and many other places. I am hearing this from many people that when they have a problem they say, “Jeez!” or “Jesus!” What does that mean? It means, khallasnaa yaa `Isa! “Save us, O Jesus! You are the son of God.” That is what it means. So the mouth slips and says, “Jesus!” They know that in their mind and teach people that, “Jesus gave his life for you, so call on him.” Is it not better to call on the Prophet (s)? Say, “Yaa Muhammad (s)!” Allah gave him shafa`ah and even Sayyidina `Isa (a) will ask with his nation for shafa`ah of the Prophet (s). Do you say, “Jeez?” Ask the young ones, do you say, “Jeez?” Say the truth, why are you afraid?

So because of a black fly, one man entered Paradise and the other entered Hell. With saying the word “s***” we may all go to Hell, and with saying “Jeez”? In Arabic “jeez” or “zeez” is a cockroach. Don't call on anyone except the one who has the Station of Intercession, who is the Prophet (s). Allah will not be happy with calling on someone who is for his nation. Your Prophet (s) is for every nation! He (`Isa) is limited, the Prophet (s) is not. So I don't want to hear anyone saying “Jeez” or “Jesus,” especially Taher! (laughter)

Sometimes when people encounter a problem they say, “I have a problem, why did Allah gave me that problem? That person is rich and I am poor. Why is Allah giving that person money, even though he doesn’t deserve it? He is womanizing, drinking, doing all kind of bad things, committing adultery, yet he is getting more and more rich and I am worshipping, and doing this and doing that for Allah’s sake and not getting anything! I am always falling down.” Many people complain, “My business is not working and I am getting this sickness or that sickness.”

What did Prophet (s) say? It is related in Musnad Imam Ahmad that `Uqba ibn `Amir (r) related that Prophet (s) said:

عن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : إذا رأيت الله يعطي العبد من الدنيا على معاصيه ما يحب فإنما هو استدراج

Idhaa raayt ’Allah yu`tee al-`abd min ad-dunya `alaa ma`asiyyahu maa yuhibb fa innamaa huwa istidraajun.

If you see that Allah (swt) is giving dunya to someone who makes a lot of sins. Allah gives him more, even though he is not praying or fasting and may not even be a Muslim, but Allah is giving him. It is only a means to pull his leg more into sins, to put him more and more as a sinner on the Day of Judgment.

And Allah said:

falamaa nasoo maa dhukiroo bihi fatahnaa `alayhim abwaaba kulla shayin hatta idhaa farihoo bimaa ootoo akhadnaahum baghtatan fa idhaa hum mublisoon

But when they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the gates of all (good) things, until, in the midst of their enjoyment of Our gifts, on a sudden, We called them to account, when lo! they were plunged in despair! (Surat al Al-An`am, 6:44)

“We give them and give them until they forget what Allah ordered them to do and are happy with what they have. We then give them Hellfire at the end.” You do not want to be in that situation!

Inna’Llaha qasama baynakum akhlaaqikum kamaa qasam bayanakum arzaaqakum wa inna allaha yu`tiyya ad-dunya man yuhibbu ’d-dunya, wa man laa yuhibb, wa laa yu`tiyy imaanan illa man yuhibb

The Prophet (s) said, “Verily Allah divided up between you your characters just as He divided between you your provision. Allah gives dunya to the one who loves dunya, and He does not give imaan except to the one whom He likes.”

Allah gives dunya to the one who likes dunya and He gives imaan to the one whom He likes; this is a big difference, so we are asking, “Yaa Rabbee, give us imaan and love us!” For Allah to love us, we have to follow the Prophet (s) in the way Allah (swt) said:

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Qul in kuntum tuhibboona 'Llaaha fattabi`oonee yuhbibkumullaahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum w 'Allaahu Ghafooru 'r-Raheem.

Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)

laa tazaal hadhihi ’l-ummah tahta yadiLlahi wa fee kanafihi maa lam yumaali quraauhaa umaraauhaa wa maa lam yuzakiyy sulahaaoohaa fujaaruhaa wa maa lam yahhinu khiyaaruhu shiraaruhaa fa idhaa hum fa`aloo dhaalika rafa`a’Llahu yadahu `anhum thumma sallata `alayhim jabaabiratahum fa-yasoomooahum soo’a’l-`adhaab.

Sayyidina al-Hasan (r) said that the Prophet (s) said, “This ummah is always under Allah’s Hand as long as its scholars (`ulama who studied fiqh, Qur’an and hadith) don’t kiss the b*** of the rulers, so Allah will keep the ummah strong until the `ulama let the leaders do what they like and support them (in it) and the best of people of the ummah, the sincere, pious ones don’t praise the corrupt ones. If they do that, then Allah (swt) will pull His Hand from the them after which He will put over them their tyrants and they will afflict them with the worst sort of punishment.”

Today everyone is praising the leaders who are corrupted. If you need something from them you praise them. Everyone falls in this problem. The leaders invite by saying, “Invitation for breaking fast with a leader.” What happens then? Everyone dresses nicely and wears perfume, a bowtie, “papillon” in French. So they put papillon here, tuxedo and bowtie, get dressed and up, up, up to the leader! What about your prayers, what do you wear for your prayers, the kitchen dress, the job dress, a mechanic’s dress? Are you going to pray as a mechanic or as a plumber, or in the kitchen dress to pray? That is what we do, we don’t change. Awliyaullah don’t pray except when they put a clean dress on them and then pray, not in this Western dress. They dress in the Arabic dress, the Muslim dress, or Pakistani or Bengali dress with long qamees and shalwar, or a long qamees (thawb), respecting Allah (swt). How is it that you are going and praying between the Hands of Allah (swt) wearing jeans? If you wish to visit a leader, will you go with jeans or a plumber’s uniform or will you go with a nice dress?

Awliyaullah, sincere pious servants, always keep a dress that they change into when they want to pray, but we are not doing that, but Allah is Ghafoorun Raheem, what can we do? It is not easy in this time, before it might have been easy, in this time they think that you have a disease, you’re in a hospital, or that you are having trouble walking due to circumcision or something else!

“If they do that, then Allah (swt) will pull His Hand from the ummah.” That is why the Prophet (s) said in an authentic hadith:

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوشك أن تداعى عليكم الأمم من كل أفق كما تداعى الأكلة على قصعتها قال قلنا يا رسول الله أمن قلة بنا يومئذ قال أنتم يومئذ كثير ولكن تكونون غثاء كغثاء السيل ينتزع المهابة من قلوب عدوكم ويجعل في قلوبكم الوهن قال قلنا وما الوهن قال حب الحياة وكراهية الموت

Yushik an tad`a alaykum al-umam min kulli ufuq kamaa tada`a al-aklati `alaa qas`atihaa, qaala qulnaa yaa rasoolullah amin qillatin binaa qaala antum yawmaidhin katheerin wa laakin takoonoona ghuthaa ka-ghuthaa as-sayl yantazia’l-mahaabata min quloob `adoowikum wa yaja`al fee quloobikum al-wahan. qulnaa wa maa al-wahan qaala hubbu’l-hayaat wa karaahiyati ’l-mawt.

Thawban narrated that the Prophet (s) said: “The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their food.” Someone asked, “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He replied, “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn?” He replied, “Love of the world and dislike of death.””(Sunan Abu Dawood, Ahmad’s Musnad)

Are you seeing this today or not? Very clearly, and they call it “Rabi` al-`Arabi”! They are calling it “the Arab Spring” but it is not; rather, it is an “Arabic Winter.” It is cloudy and you don’t know what is going to happen, and they are killing each other, 90,000 now in one country!

“As the dogs are running to jump on the same prey,” all of them jump on it.

Qaloo yaa Rasoolullah amin qilatun yawmaidhin? And the Sahaabah (r) asked the Prophet (s), “Are we going to be a few people here and there?”

He said, “No! You are going to be great in number like the foam of a waterfall; there will be too many of you. You will be like that, but Allah will take away from you al-mahaabah, He takes from you that people feel afraid of you. You will become very low,” because you are leaving what Prophet (s) has been sent with, “you are leaving my way, you are leaving Islam, you are not carrying Islam, you are not accepting to pray and fast and to do zakaat and to do Hajj.” And this is what we are seeing today. “And Allah will put al-wahn in your heart.”

They asked, yaa Rasooluullah wa man wahn? “What is al-wahn?”

Prophet (s) said, hubb ad-dunya, “It is love of dunya.”

Allah will put in Muslim hearts the love of dunya. They are no longer doing anything for Allah (swt), not all of them but many of them, but they are doing it for hubb ad-dunya. To love their dunya, how much they can accumulate more and more and more and more! Also, there will be karaahat al-mawt, everyone at that time will hate to die. So you are going to see that time when, tatada`a alaykum al-umam, “all nations are going to come against you.”

Open your eyes, O Muslims! We do not have too much time to fix ourselves. You don’t know, two or three days ago I was in Washington and someone came and said, “One of these asteroids came on Siberia.” What would happen if it came on a city? Allah is sending a sign that, “I can send it wherever I like! I can make an earthquake that will make the whole Earth to turn upside-down! Can anyone stop Me?” No-one can stop Allah.

O Muslims, think well! And may Allah forgive us and bless us and support us.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

Qaala rasoolullah (s) yakhruju fee aakhiri ‘z-zamaan rijaalun yakhtaloon ad-dunya bi ’d-deen wa yalbasoon an-naasi julood ad-daan min al-leen. alsinatahum ahlaa min al-`asl wa quloobahum quloob ud-dhiaab yaqoolullah `azza wa jall abee yaghtaroon am `alayya yajtaraaoon fabee halaftu la-aba`athanna `alaa oolaaika minhum fitnatan tada`u al-haleema minhum hayraan. (at-Tirmidhi)

We will explain that next time, inshaa-Allah. That is a big fitna which Prophet (s) mentioned in hadith and applies exactly to our days today.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
