Jumu`ah Khutbah at Masjid Jami an-Nawier
(Translated from Arabic)
Alhamdulillah alladhee hadansa li 'l-islam wa mss kunna li-nahatadee law lsa an hadaanallah.
Alhamdulillah that we were guided to Islam and we could never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. O lovers of Prophet (s)! We testify that there is no god but Allah, and there is no one similar to Him; He is Unique and One, with no partner. And we testify that Muhammad (s) is His Messenger. May Allah be pleased with his four rightly-guided caliphs: Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, `Umar, Uthman and Sayyidina Ali (r).
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. Yaseen. Wa 'l-quran il-hakeem innaka lamin al-mursaleen. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. wa 'n-najmi idhaa hawaa.
Allah sent the Prophet (s) as the Seal of Prophets and the Seal of Messengers, and he is Prophet of the Ummah.
He said, "Shall I inform you of the people of Paradise." They said, "Yes." The Sahaabah (r) wanted to know the description of the People of Paradise, and today we also want to know the description of the People of Paradise. In an authentic hadith, the Prophet (s) said:
"Shall I inform you of the People of Paradise? Every person who is humble and weak, who is standing for love of Allah and the Prophet, and who is maintaining his five obligations, and who is inspired with leadership of people is weak, and whatever he does he seeks Allah's love and Prophet's love."
And you people of Indonesia are among those who have "men" who built massajid and who put gatherings of dhikr, remembrance, love, and praise of Prophet (s). They built mosques, schools, and centers, and opened their homes to people, so give good tidings to them.
The Prophet (s) said:
Those are the People of Jannah, the weak ones who are in love with Allah, and when they swear by Allah, He grants them what they wish.
And the Qudsi Hadith of Prophet (s) mentions that Allah (s) said:
My saints are under My domes. No one knows them except Me.
And Allah (swt) said, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem:
أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
`alaa inna awliyaullahi laa khawfun `alayhim wa laa hum yahzanoon.
Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (al-Yunus,10:62)
And Prophet (s) asked, "Would you like to hear a description of the People of Hellfire?" They said, "Yes." And all of us ask to be away from Hellfire and we fear it! And Prophet (s) described them as, kullu mutakabbirin jawaad, "those who are proud and arrogant against their people and their families." They don't have any mercy. Give mercy to people and to the weak, then Allah will give you mercy.
Yaa Allah! We ask You to guide us to the best way, and to grant us love of the Prophet (s)!
And Prophet (s) said, "Every person is raised up with the one he loves on the Day of Judgment."
I say from this masjid and from this minbar, we love you, yaa Rasoolullah! You are the beloved! We seek one glance from you, to clean our hearts! Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Rahmatan li 'l-`Alameen!
One Bedouin came to the masjid of the Prophet (s) and he didn't enter the mosque, but he called out, "Yaa Rasoolullah! When is the Hour of Reckoning?" Prophet (s) didn't answer, as he was giving the Jumu`ah khutbah. And thre Bedouin called out a second time, "When is the Hour?" And the Prophet (s) didn't respond. And the Bedouin called out a third time, "When is the Hour?" Gibril (a) came to the Prophet (s) and said, "Allah sends His greetings to you and tells you to answer him." Then the Prophet (s) said, "The Hour is a long travel. What kind of preparation did you make for that long travel?" Preparation is necessary, as Allah will call us to His Presence on the day of our death, and then again on the Day of Judgment. And the Bedouin said, "I only have one word that is very light on the tongue, but very heavy on the Scale." That Bedouin was a very simple, natural person who perhaps did not even know how to pray. He said, "I love you, I have love of you, yaa Rasoolullah!"
Prophet (s) gave the famous hadeeth, "You will be raised with the one you love." We hope to be lovers of Allah (swt) who are raised in His Presence, and in the presence Prophet (s), and all the prophets and the saadiqeen and the martyrs and the pure righteous ones. We hope even if we were lovers of dunya and its people, still we will be raised with them! And if we want to be raised with the Prophet (s) and with the righteous servants, we must prepare from today. That is a beautiful hadeeth that gives us hope of entering Paradise, to be with the ones we love! Be with them; you will be rewarded.
Allah (swt) said:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Yaa ayyuhalladheena aamanoo ittaqoollah wa koonoo ma` as-saadiqeen.
O you who believe! Fear Allah and be those who are pious (in word and deed). (Surat at-Tawbah 9:119)
The Sahaabah (r) were with the Prophet (s), and we must be with the righteous servants in order to achieve that salvation.
And also Allah (swt) said:
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
Wa aayatun lahum anna hamalnaa dhurriy-yatahum fi 'l-fulki 'l-mashhoon.
And a sign to them is that we carry them and their descendants in a loaded ship. (36:41)
That was the loaded ship of Nuh (a), but it also means "the merciful Prophet," who is the vessel carrying us. He is the gift of mercy to us and we ask to be under that pouring mercy until we enter Paradise with no account!
