Leave the Shoes of Ego Behind and Come!

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

30 August 2010 Lefke, Cyprus

Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hu, Hu, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy, Hayy. Dastoor. (Mawlana Shaykh stands)

Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, `Azeez Allah!

Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Subhaan Allah!

Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Allah Allah, Sultaan Allah!

Sultaan sen, anta Sultaan!

You are King, O our Lord! Give more praise and glory and majesty for your absolute deputy, Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! Be with us, O our Lord, with Your endless mercy. Send us Your good, holy servants to save Your weak servants from falling into the tricks and traps of the biggest enemy of humanity, Shaytan. For all prophets and heavenly people, we ask more and more lights from Heavens. And we ask them to reach us in our weak lives, to make us strong enough for our Lord's servanthood. (Mawlana sits) 'Allimna, teach us to be with Allah and those who are representatives of heavenly beings, keeping us under their wings of protection!

And we are saying, a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. (Mawlana Shaykh stands and sits) The honor of Mankind is to say, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. We may be protected here and hereafter when we say, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem! (Mawlana Shaykh stands) All glory, all majesty is our Lord's, Allah Almighty's. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) Be proud that He brought Man to life; He brought you from nothing to something! That is according to our nature, He is granting this. We are on the level of servanthood, and not higher. Through servanthood we reach heavenly honor.

O our Attenders! O heedless ones! All of us are heedless. Why? Because you are not thinking on the most important point, or most important target. (...) Whoever attends, the heavy burden of this life is just taken away; I can carry it if Allah Almighty orders me to carry burdens and heaviness of people. If Allah orders, one ant can carry it! And here I am taking your heavy burdens. If you are coming and listening really, you may understand that the heaviness of shaytanic works has been taken from you. Therefore, come and listen! If you are coming and living two years more, or four , ten, or twenty. If not, you are coming down daily, down, down, down, approaching your hole in the graveyard. We have been ordered to give people nishaat, refreshment. Daily, you can take refreshment. No one gives refreshment today. Come and listen for the honor of Prophet (s), and the honor of this holy month. If you are not living jaza'an wifaaqa, “an exact recompense,” you must come and listen to tariqatuna suhbah, “Our way is association.”

O Salafi `ulamas! How are you today, never smiling. Why are you angry? Am I taking money or khasr, loss, from you? I am not taking anything! I am asking to give to you nish`at, refreshment. Why then are you angry? Come and listen. I am not asking one riyal from you, but it doesn’t matter. If all Saudi Arabian people gave a half riyal, it may be half-a-million riyals. Don’t think like this. Why did Muhiyiddeen Ibn `Arabi, may Allah bless him, say, "O People! ma`booudukum tahta qadmayn, “What you worship is under my feet!” It means, "What you like and for what purpose you are living is dunya, and that is under my feet." Yes, we are walking on it.

O our Attenders! Don’t run away if you like to reach a pleasure through your life. I don't like what you are saying. At night time raining on me riyals, silver or coins, and every time I am kicking them away.

O my Lord! I am asking for Your pleasure, not asking for the pleasure of my ego. I like to make pleasure for You! I am not running to make my own in pleasure. Because it is sa`adat taqlidiyyah, “imitated pleasures.” What I am given through my ego is imitated pleasure, with no taste. But I am asking for the pleasure of my Lord, Allah Almighty, (Mawlana Shaykh stands) to be pleased with me. That is my main goal. What is your main goal, Salafi `ulamas? What are the goals of your kings, umaraa, and your mashaykh? Say! (Mawlana Shaykh sits) Their main goals are to build high buildings, get beautiful ladies, and eat delicious foods! You forget you are servants! Daily your kings must say, "O my Lord! I am Your servant, I am Your servant, I am Your servant!" And they must cry, because their egos tell them, "Don’t say this! You are king! O my beloved one, you must say, 'I am king, I am sultan, president, first lady..."

That is shaytanic teaching! Every day you must sit down, look in the mirror, and say, "O King of Arabia, King of Abbysinia, King of the East, O King of western countries! O my Lord! Anta Rabb, ana al-`abd, You are Lord, I am servant." Say it 70 times and you will reach Allah's pleasure, because Allah Almighty likes this! It is for mulooks, sultans, emperors, and kings to say, “O my Lord! You are king and I am your servant." It gives Allah (swt) pleasure and He will grant to you in return, "O My angels! Give pleasure to My servant, and give his face such beauty that no one can give what I am granting, because My servant, whom I made king or queen, is saying to Me, 'O my Lord! You are my king and I am Your servant.'"

O Salafi `ulamas! Where are you? You are looking in a mirror, making like this (adjusts turban). Sit down and look to Ka`aba Mu`azzam, the House of our Lord, or in that direction, and say, "O my Lord! Anta Rabb, ana al-`abd. You are Lord, I am servant." Say it, even if you are ashaming, it doesn’t matter. In your private room, say, "You are my Lord, I am Your weak servant! You are my Lord, I am Your weak servant! You are my Lord, I am Your weak servant! You are my Lord, I am Your weak servant!" Al-rabbee qadir, ana `abduka l-da`eef, wa anta rabbee al-qawiyy, “O my powerful Lord! I am Your weak servant, You are my Mighty Lord! O my Lord! Please accept my servanthood."

Am I saying anything wrong? If you say yes, up to morning it may be none of you live, or up to `Eid no one will live! If you say, The shaykh is telling lies," your Lord is seeing. Leave those claims, “I am Wahhabi! I am Salafi!" May Allah forgive us! Yaa Rabbee, iqbal `ibaadatee, "O my Lord, accept my servanthood!

O our Attenders! All nations, beginning from His Holiness, the Pope, and His Holiness, the Chief Rabbi were saying, "You are Lord, I am servant," a hundred times. You are "People of the Book," (Christians and Jews). I am leaving Salafi `ulamas and asking His Holiness, the Chief Rabbi: when Moses, peace be upon him, was invited to the holy valley, why did the Lord of Heavens say to him, "O Moses! Leave your shoes and come." It means, "Don’t come here with your shoes." I am asking you, what are shoes? There are so many meanings. The first meaning we are understanding, is just "shoes," but really Allah Almighty wants to say, "Leave your dirty ego and come." And shoes, to walk on it, is your ego. "O People! Leave your ego because your ego is with Shaytan. Leave and come to Me clean."

Therefore, when Muslims enter the mosque they remove their shoes. You understood that, but Christians and Jewish people lost that meaning, and now when they enter churches and synagogues, they do not remove their shoes. That is wrong. Only Muslims take off their shoes, following Allah Almighty’s holy command. Moses left his shoes and entered the Divine Presence, but Christians come with shoes. It is not written in the New Testament or Old Testament? I am asking. Jewish people also come to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, but with their shoes. Allah Almighty is saying, “O Moses! Take away your shoes.” How you are coming in front of the holy wall and not taking off your shoes? I am saying at least put them in a bag, or the right-foot shoe in a bag and the left-foot shoe in your pocket!

They may answer, "O Shaykh! These two pockets are full with money and they are not for shoes. And we are not Moses or from his nation. It doesn’t matter.”

You know our Lord makes us learn to give for everything its value. Yaa Allah, tawbah yaa Rabbee! We are asking forgiveness. O our Lord! Send us one who will teach us heavenly good manners, for the honor of Your most beloved one, Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! (Mawlana Shaykh stands and sits)

Fatihah.

(Mawlana Shaykh speaks with Shaykh Hisham Effendi and Hajjah Naziha on the phone.)

(38 minutes) Mashaa-Allah! Today I am shouting.

(Mawlana Shaykh prays two raka`at Salaat ash-Shukr.)
