Let us fast from dunya, and as the Prophet (s) said, "Be as a stranger in this world." To fast from dunya by your heart as your senses are fasting from the dunya in the outer az-zhaahir, also our heart must fast from love of dunya. We must try to be out of love of dunya and get out of its difficulties
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.Dastoor, ya Sayyidee ,ya Rahmatan lil-`alameen, madad.
Madad ya Sultan al-Awliya.
As-salam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Astaghfirullah al-`Azheem wa atoobu ilayh.
It is Mawlana's words and we are all here to hear from Mawlana's words. I am not a shaykh, a mufti, an `alim, or scholar, etc. The value is not in titles. If Allah describes you as a servant, then you are lucky. Allah (swt) said:
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ
Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is no authority for you. (Surat Al-Isra, 17:65)
What will Satan entice them with: what do they want, the world full of gold? Allah (swt) is saying: "O Cursed One, the enemy of human beings as a whole! You have no power over any of My devoted servants."
Those servants have no interest in dunya, they give away the dunya. `Ibadee means 'My servants'. Allah mentioned the Anbiya as servants in so many verses:
وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ
And call to mind Our servant Job. (Surah Sad 38:41)
And in other Verses, He calls His Anbiya “`abd.”
ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا
O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant. (Surat al-Isra, 17:3)
And Rasoolullah (s) was called “`abd.”
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِۦ لَيْلًا
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night. (Surat al-Isra, 17:1)
Glory be to the One who can make extraordinary circumstances happen when He (swt) took the Prophet (s) from Mecca to Quds. He did not call the Prophet (s) anything except 'My servant'. So don't strive for anything else, strive to be a servant of Allah Almighty. As Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim said, "Don't call me this or that title. If you call me 'servant' that is the greatest honor."
In Surat al-Jinn, Allah (swt) mentions Rasoolullah (s) as “`Abdullah”:
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا
And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became a compacted mass around him."
When `Abdullah, the Most Perfect Servant, stood in Qiyaam, he was standing in prayer reciting Holy Qur'an and all the spiritual beings came on him. They were attracted like bees attracted to honey. They all came to `Abdullah (s). Allah (swt) called him `Abdullah, and we say in Shahada: Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `Abduhu wa Rasooluhu.
So I don't care to be anything. I learned my lesson and I'm happy to just be a translator. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim used to say, "I am a naaqil, a transmitter or transporter. I take from my spiritual masters and give to the ones on the ground. I am just transporting the words of Awliyaullah to the people to be of benefit."
We are trying to be the same as our master, a simple one, just transfering what he is saying. So this afternoon I opened up to read [Mawlana's book of suhbahs] and I said to myself, "How am I going to explain this?!" But it is right on.
They had a big meeting last week. The dunya of Islam got together. I was listening to Erdogan. I looked and it was a huge hall. It took in maybe all the Muslim countries, maybe 150 leaders, rulers, sultans, Arabs and non-Arabs were present.
What is Mawlana saying here: "Our belief of Ahl as-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama'ah is that without a khalifa there is no jihad and no Jumu`ah." There is no war against anyone without an imam: that sultan must give permission for war, there is no one who has authorization to start a war. Even Jumu`ah, the Friday congregational prayers, requires the sultan to give the permission to the one to lead the Jumu`ah.
But nowadays, they have come up with a fatwa to allow doing Jumu`ah [without a sultan's authorization]. But jihad, it is not permitted to be called without a sultan. What do they say, they are renegade groups. Without a sultan the Ummah is sinning.
They cannot call the Ummah for a war without a Khalifa, but they said the Ummah has to participate.. They are coming from the perspective of Shari`ah. In November, a group of scholars from a Muslim group stated in a fatwa that all Muslim regimes and armies have to unite and their armies must intervene (in the current war). Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is saying samoo al-imam, name the imam: if you are saying according to Islamic religious obligations that all the Muslim and Arab countries have to intervene, then in that case name the authorized leader according to Shari`ah. Mashallah, a lot of scholars came together. So who is the imam? Announce that!
In the time of Rasoolullah (s), he was Sultan, the leader, the Nabi. And after him Siddiq (r), and after him Sayyidina Umar al-Faruq (r), and after him Sayyidina `Uthman (r), and then Sayyidina `Ali (r), and after him sultans. So now name a person as the sultan!
Mawlana is saying: awwal waajib `ala ahl al-Islam, the people of Islam's first obligation is to find a sultan, to find a head for you. How many heads of state were there in that conference hall: 50, 60? Altogether say who will lead us! Will Erdogan lead you, will President Cici lead you, will King Abdullah lead? You are all sitting together, so say!
وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ بِحَبْلِ ٱللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا۟
And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. (Surat Ali-`Imran, 3:103)
Allah is saying: "All of you come together and do not separate." Who is the head of the Muslims? They brought the president of Indonesia all the way to the King of Morocco and down to the leader of Senegal, but nothing came out of that meeting. Why? Because you are not following Allah's (swt) Way. Who is teaching them? Shaytan is teaching them, "Be separate. Don't be under one head."
They all want to be the head. The Egyptian wants to be head, the Turkish wants to be the head, the Lebanese, the Syrian, the Iraqi. They all want to be head of all the Muslims, because each one of you wants to be head. That is hubb ar-riyaasa, love of being the leader. That is haram. In Tariqah, it is not allowed. The love of being the leader or Number One is the last thing to come out of the heart of the Siddiqeen, because riyaasa, presidency or leadership, does not go along with `uboodiya, servanthood. Either you are `abd, a servant, or you are a high one. You cannot be `abd and a head. You have to understand Haqiqat al-`Uboodiya, the Reality of Servanthood.
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim says, "Who is your imam?" Instead of calling for some kind of 'jihad' under a renegade group, first pick an imam. Come together kings and leaders of the Muslim countries—India, Pakistan, Indonesia—choose one. Did they choose one? No, and because they don't have a leader, they are not following what Allah has sent. Awliya are the ones who are trying very much to do what Allah said:
أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ . ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ
Behold! Verily on the friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve, (they are) those who believe and (constantly) guard against evil. (Surat al-Anbiya, 10:63,64)
Awliya are described as those who are attempting to follow Allah's orders.
مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ ٱتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتًا وَإِنَّ أَوْهَنَ ٱلْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
The example of those who take allies other than Allah is like that of the spider who takes a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew. (Surat al-`Ankabut, 29:41)
Here Allah mentioned the example of those who have taken shelter in and follow orders of other than Allah. Who is other than Allah (swt)? It is Shaytan. You have left the way of Allah and taken Shaytan and his descendants as friends, and left Allah (swt). How can you take Shaytan and his children as Awliya?
The Shayateen, devils, have children and they will be around up to Judgment Day. The last creature to die is the Angel of Death. Even he is not immortal. Allah (swt) will order him to take his own soul. and then when everyone is dead, Allah says:
يَوْمَ هُم بَـٰرِزُونَ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَىْءٌ لِّمَنِ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ
The Day they come forth, nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, The One, The Prevailing. (Surah Ghafir, 40:16)
Then Archangel Israfil (a) will be the first to be brought to life and he will blow the trumpet.
So when you take Shaytan as your friend, the example of those who follow Shaytan is like the spider that has taken a home to itself: the web. What is their support? It is a spider web, which has no foundation, no roof, and does not protect from snow, wind, or fire.
So one wind blew on the Muslim countries and what happened? All of them crumbled. One billion Muslims and leaders and armies have crumbled and fallen apart because they have taken the spider's web as their shelter. That is because we have no sultan. If we had one sultan to unite and command all these countries, we would have been able to handle that blow.
So let them select one to be the khalifah. When they are all sitting together debating what to do, why not pick a head? It is the way of Shaytan to be separate. Each one takes his own land and his own army and separates. Mawlana Shaykh is explaining why you are so dhaleel, debased. What is the solution: you have to take heed and follow Allah's orders.
The last sultan was in 1924 and someone decided, "We no longer need a sultan." It might be that the Arabs revolted, and since then there was no sultan of the Muslims. That is why you are in this state, O Muslims! Instead of coming together and warning and shouting, come together and elect a sultan. Not a renegade group calling the Ummah for jihad, that is not what our religion says!
I am not criticizing anyone; rather, I’m reading what my master has said, which is, "The first requirement is for the Muslims to have a sultan.” Then everyone will be afraid of you, because you have someone who can command one billion Muslims. Why are they afraid of the Chinese? Because one man commands over one billion people.
May Allah allow us to return to the deen. That is what we are waiting for: that one sultan who will unite all the Muslims together.
