Maghrib Suhbah at Centre for Spirituality and Cultural Advancement (CSCA)
Hazrat Khwaja Sufi Mohammed Hanif Sahib Aslami of Luton, Mujaddidiyya Aslamiyya:
Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo ‘r-rasool. sadaq-Allahu ‘-Mawlana al-`Azheem.
Today I believe is a great day that we are with a friend of Allah (swt), and that is most important time that we have been given. There are very few people in the world who can really get together just for Allah’s sake and for the sake of His Messenger, who is uwaysi of Fakhra ‘l-Kaa'inat rasooli Akram (s).
Allah has given us the Best Among Human Beings and Allah has given us the best Tariqah, the Siddiqiyya Rasooliyya Tariqah an-Naqshbandiyyati ‘l-Aliyya. And we don't have enough words to give thanks for this opportunity and with what He favored us.
This day will be presented on Yawm al-Qiyamah and we all who are here today will meet under the banner of Shaykh Hazrat Khawaja Naqshbandi and bi ‘l-khusoos Khawaja Shaykh Hisham al-Kabbani.
We met so many times, I am so lost that I don't remember the name. Look how it is: you know once you are lost yourself, otherwise you won't get it. So my dear friends, we are all friends, alhamdulillah. I pray to Allah (swt) that Allah grant long life to Shaykh Hisham and alhamdulillah he is a beacon of light that is not just spreading here in Europe, but is spreading over all the whole world.
May Allah give him long life and make us the beneficiaries and the coming generations, not for a few months or few years, but until The Day of Judgement. [...] Alhamdulillah my shaykh and Hazrat Shaykh Hisham Kabbani maddullah zhilahu al-`aliyya, may he accept my words and forgive me if I said anything wrong.
Shaykh Hisham Kabbani:
Masha’Allah. Your coming today is an honor for us. I saw you from far and I was surprised because you are a great man and passing by us here and we are nothing, we are trying to learn.
Today I read in this book, “Al-fawzu wa 'n-najaat, Winning and Safety” and passed through a Hadith of Prophet (s), `an Jaabir (r), in which he said from that time, why are we wasting our time? How we are living is a waste. And today we are seeing a lot of people, I might say it looks very strange. I read that Prophet (s) said to Muhammad Bakri (r) from Talmaysan, who came spiritually to Prophet (s) carrying gifts, and one of them was a hundred thousand recitations of Dalaa’il al-Khayraat. It was shocking to me, because the issue is that we aren't following the right track: we recite Dalaa’il al-Khayraat, but it enters one ear and goes out the other ear (we don’t retain it).
Sayyidina Jaabir (r) narrated the Prophet (s) said that carrying the name of Prophet (s) will give that person a high level in Paradise, and even if he mentions it only once in his life it is enough for him to enter Paradise! So I said to myself that anything we recite has no value if it is not for Prophet (s). Today people are busy with congresses and all kinds of organizations, but they are forgetting that saying “Muhammad” one time is more preferred by Allah (swt) than any other word.
Why did Allah put Prophet’s (s) name with His Name? Allah (swt) is able to put Prophet’s name somewhere else, but He preferred the Ummah to carry that honor. So anytime we recite qaseedahs we must remember there is a respect from Prophet (s) to those carrying the name “Muhammad,” don't think it's going for nothing. As you know, the name of Prophet (s) is in Paradise, so he himself is in Paradise. So try as much as you can to mention his name.
He (Mawlana Shaykh Nazim) said, why are you wasting your time reciting anaasheed, qasaa’id? This is coming to my heart. If people knew the benefit of mentioning the name of Prophet (s), it is far better than reciting qasaa’id. Who is the best reciter of qasaa’id? Muhammad Busayri (q). He compiled his book based on love of Prophet (s), and every time “Muhammad” is mentioned he will be raised up, because Prophet’s name has value and our names [generally] have no value. I like Pakistani children’s names because they are so well put together, two or three names in one, and most of them mention “Noor al-Haqq” or “Noor al-Mubeen”, names that have value. I didn't see names like that in the Middle East countries or in Africa, only in Pakistan, so we must admire them.
Muhammad al-Busayri (q) understood this secret, and that's why he directed his book towards love of Prophet (s)! If he didn’t know that, he would never have received the privilege and honor of his title, the “Reciter of Paradise”. Let us be like Muhammad al-Busayri.
Also, it is said that if you mention the name of Prophet (s) in a book, or wherever you are going, it will not be erased and will continue to the Day of Judgement! It only takes one second to say “Muhammad” and that mention joins us with the Reality of Prophet (s) in the spiritual life, which is not like this life. Allah (swt) mentioned he will provide us all kinds of fruit, but is it fruit to eat? No, it is the fruit of knowledge:
وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوا وَّنَذَرُ الظَّالِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّا
And every one of you will come within sight of it: this is with your Sustainer a decree that must be fulfilled. And once again, We will save [from Hell] those who have been conscious of Us, but We will leave in it the evildoers on their knees. (Surat Maryam: 19:71-72)
Where we arrived? No, I'm testing you! [Laughter.] “For sure everyone of you will pass by Jahannam,” kaana `alaa rabbika hatman maqdiyya, ta'keed, Allah is giving His Word and it must be fulfilled. So how can we be saved? The bridge between Jahannam and Jannah is Muhammad! He made the `ulama hayaara, surprised, astonished. Min darajaatihi al-`ulaa, min Maqaam ar-Rushd. Bahr al-Irshaad, an-Nabi arshad al-Anbiyaa wa huwa Murshid al-anbiyaa, wa ghayruhu murshidu nafsihi.
“For sure, you will see and pass over the fire of Jahannam, and if not for the shafa`a of Prophet we would be lost on that bridge.” He built the bridge to show us the honor of Prophet (s) will compensate those who mention his name, so mention it! When you recite qaseedahs, make sure it is mostly mentioning, “Muhammad, Muhammad, Muhammad,” as you say, “Allah, Allah, Allah.”
I will not go further or speak too long as the meaning has not opened yet. There is coming a time when Allah will order that ocean of meanings to be opened to Ummat an-Nabi (s). Awliyaullah are given the ability to see that ocean, and that is why it is important to follow a wali and murshid. Our himmah is weak; not weak, it is zero, but their himmah is `azheem and they are astonished and bewildered by Allah's Creation and what He has created!
We ask Allah to forgive us for the sake of the shaykh and make us constant on faith and Islam.
Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq bi hurmati ‘l-habeeb bi hurmati ‘l-Fatihah.
