As salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu. I ask for two minutes to say something very important, to show you who is a Wali and who is not. Awliyaullah are hidden, but sometimes they do things we don’t understand. If we do all they ask us to do perfectly, we would see Gardens from Heavens pour into this majlis, because it is salawaat on Prophet (s). The barakah is not from us, it is from Prophet (s). Some Awliyaullah try to stay hidden and some show it to people to make their imaan stronger, like Sayyidina Ibrahim (a) when he said:

When Ibrahim said, "Show me, Lord, how You will raise the dead." He replied, "Have you no faith?" He said, "Yes, but just to reassure my heart." Allah said, "Take four birds, draw them to you and cut their bodies into pieces. Scatter them over the mountain tops, then call them back. They will come swiftly to you. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise." (Surat al-Baqara, 2:260)

I am speaking and he (Imam Sahib) made the du`a long [laughter], but this is to teach us that you will not get everything you wish. He wished to recite this ayah, but they cut it because inside him there was some kind of...someone was blowing in his ears, “Show yourself!” [Laughter.]

Grandshaykh (q), may Allah bless his soul and the soul of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), and now Shaykh Adnan (q), and this long choir connecting all these together, we know what they are, they are not hiding themselves. [Mawlana looks up.] If you want to hide yourself a hundred times, we can catch you even if it is on the other side of the Himalayas, we will know where you are! You don’t need to hide yourself: appear to them! Madad yaa Sayyidi, yaa Rasoolullah! Fatihah.

Nothing can stop them except Surat al-Fatihah. If they have permission, they could move this masjid, for example, to another masjid. They can move and if you ask he will do that. If you ask that you want to be in Madinah, you will be in Madinah. In any case, to be with Awliyaullah is not simple or easy; you will be under fire with them. If anyone moves a finger without permission in their presence, you can be under fire if there is no adab there. Adab is the highest level in wilayah because it will take you to Fanaa. Then you have nothing: no iraada, will, and you are sitting in their presence. What they send to you, you take; what they don’t send, you don’t take.

When the Prophet (s) called the mountain (Uhud), it came to him and said, “I am ready for you, yaa Muhammad (s)! Take what you want from me.”

The Prophet (s) said, “We are not in need of your support. Allah will support us.”

So one word is of interest, “kun”: it is not yet kun fa yakoon, which is for beginners in Tasawwuf. Kun fa yakoon is only used in certain matters and there is no permission to speak: they cut your tongue if you speak! You will not feel it, but it is there. Awliyaullah make the globe turn!

إن لله رجال إذا أرادوا أراد

Truly to Allah there are men whom, if they will something, He wills it.

إن من عباد الله من لو أقسم على الله لأبره

Indeed, among the servants of Allah are those who, if they swear by Him, He will fulfill it. (Muslim)

“Allah has men, rijalAllah,” refers to Awliyaullah. “If they wish anything they will take it, and if they ask for anything, araada shay’an, want something from Heavens, from what is around us, araad it is a play on words, idha iradu iraad, intent. That is not for you or anyone here, that is only for the soul. If you make a mistake it is okay, they correct it there.

Ghawth al-Azham Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) appeared to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) from the grave. Shaykh Nazim was in seclusion in Baghdad, Iraq, and when he was ordered to do the seclusion for forty days he had to arrange food, money, clothing, etc. When Grandshaykh (s) told him, “Your qibla is Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q), go make khalwah there,” that is it.

So what happened? Shaykh Nazim did not hesitate or say anything except ‘yes’. He was not concerned about anything, not children, food, or money. He took the order and went to Baghdad, to the maqaam of Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) and found the imaam and khaadim of the maqaam waiting for him, although the distance is about 2,000 kilometers. He did not ask them nor himself, “How will I go there? Who is going to meet me? What am I going to do?” Nothing (no resistance).

Grandshaykh (q) told him to go and he moved. This might have been eighty years ago. Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) sent him a khaadim, and he found a man holding the two sides of the door, who said, “Yaa Shaykh, where are you going?” Mawlana Shaykh Nazim didn't answer. He asked a second time and Mawlana said, “Can you take me to Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q)?”

The man said, “Yes, of course. It is my way, also.”

He had a truck full of textiles. He said, “I will serve you. Last night I saw Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q), the Prophet (s), and my shaykh in a dream, and they said you will begin your khalwah here.”

That tall, big man served Shaykh Nazim for forty days. That is a Wali, and very few can perform that service. When Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) finished his seclusion, which we will not speak about here, Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) wanted to give him compensation for the seclusion, so he threw a coin to him from inside the grave, which was not intended that he would take it; rather, it was simply to show him, "I am here waiting for you."

In Pakistan, the jubbah Mawlana got is still with the khaadim, the imam of the masjid, and when he gave him the coin, he gave him the jubbah. This is the type of Awliya that do what they are ordered, so when they’ve been asking for something, because so many people go where people will help them, and from their conduct, it becomes clear that these people are Awliya or Inheritors of Awliya who are supported by the Prophet (s).

So where did we arrive? In the story of Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q), we come to the importance of a Wali. As I said, when a Wali is ordered by the Prophet (s) and by Awliya, he will enter that difficulty, and it is difficult because they must establish adab---with their family, with their children, with friends, with community--in order to be accepted by Allah and His Prophet (s). We say we love the Prophet (s) and we love Allah, but when tests come you cannot pass it and you lose. Sayyidina `Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani (q) was of that calibre.

Grandshaykh explained that Awliyaullah make du`a, which is not rejected, every moment it is accepted, and he will be carrying from Ismu ‘r-Rahman, to whom Allah in the Qur’an is speaking: Ar-Rahmaan. `Allam al-Qur`an. Khalaq al-insaan. He is speaking to whom? He (swt) is telling Prophet (s) that Rahman, Allah, allama ‘l-Qur'an, taught the Holy Qur'an to whom? To those people who are spiritual and have taken bay`a on hands of shuyookh. From the secret of Rahman they will accumulate like the language, because the language they speak we cannot understand, it is through language of hearts. And you see him moving his lips, but he is not moving his lips, he is moving his whole Ummah, for the sake of Prophet he does it.

So that rahma given to that Wali is to be distributed to the Ummah: it is not his own, and that is why you come to a Wali and ask for du`a. He makes du`a, but it might not be accepted...we can't say it is not accepted, but that time may not be in the position for that du`a to be granted. If they give permission, the du`a is accepted. He said in every moment, and what is a moment? Is it a second or 10⁻¹º of a second, or one-millionth of a second? No, they found now there is no limit to a second, so it will be divided to the Ummah for when they make du`a, but their du`a is not like the Wali’s du`a. So when you make du`a, that affects you and makes you shake with it, and at that time they open from the secret of the two names, ar-Rahman and ar-Raheem.

And [Mawlana joins both index fingers], the moment these touch each other, they make a sound that doesn't stop until the Day of Judgement. Physics certified this because it is a matter of sound, and Allah gave some people the understanding of what has been sent as a Message. Is the Internet stronger or more efficient than a Wali? As we see, the Internet uses programs through waves in the sky, and now they have iClouds. Before, Awliyaullah were using Asmaullah al-Husna to reach the Ummah. So that rahma Allah gave Awliyaullah, when they disperse it to the mureeds everyone will take a share. When you take whatever they give you of rahma or from Siffat ar-Raheem, it has to be in right proportion in order to click together.

If Siffat ar-Rahmah are every moment descending from the Heavens, the Awliyaullah take that perfection and adab of how to be near the Prophet (s) to make du`a and engage the Prophet (s) with it. Not every du`a is accepted, but to Awliyaullah every du`a is accepted, because they are carrying the secrets of ar-Rahman ar-Raheem. You are Hafiz al-Qur’an, continue.

[Imam Sahib recites: Maaliki yawmideen, iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’een. Khalaq al-insaan `alaamahu 'l-bayaan.]

Ar-Rahman, from that Siffat of Rahmat, Allah will dress the bayan, speech. Does Allah (swt) give speeches? No, Allah (swt) gives to the Prophet (s), and whatever comes to him he gives it to the whole Ummah. So what happened? These two have to click together to make fire, is it not? So if there is only one, it is not going to work. That is why Shari`ah is on one side and Haqiqat is the other side.

مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

He let forth the two seas so that they meet together. (Surat al-Rahman, 55:19)

He made these two oceans meet the descending rahamaat, and Awliya take them and dress it on his Ummah. That is why Prophet (s) said to the Sahaabah in a meeting, “`Alaykum bi dhikrullah”. He was passing by a garden and saw Sahaabah (r) there and told them, “Go and sit with Awliya who are making dhikr, because that will go quite far.” As I said, when you bring these two together, the `ilm appears. With one alone you don't hear anything, you have to reach that power.

So what happened is before Ramadan, my brother made a du`a, “O Allah, yaa Rabbee! Don't take my soul yet as I intended to enter khalwah this year for sixty days.” It is so much! He made his du`a at the same time as the mercy from the Ismu ar-Rahman ar-Raheem descended on him, because he is a Wali and Qutb, so he asked, “Give us the power to make khalwah on behalf of the whole Ummah of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).”

Then the two sides were activated, because at that moment that du`a is meant to come down and meet the other du`a from Awliyaullah. So when they met, they made a spiritual fire. At that moment, his du`a was accepted when he said, “Let me make khalwah on behalf of all Ummat an-Nabi (s).”

Since it is accepted it is finished: it was stamped that Shaykh Adnan (q) is going to make khalwah, and he took his khalwah. Then we must see what will happen, and Awliya were waiting. He managed to pass that khalwah and there he arrived at the Rahmatullah where he fainted due to the power of that khalwah. He fell on the floor saying, “Ummatee, ummatee”.

We have to make some joke there because it is heavy on me. Today I went to a place to see some people, and the meeting point was in the street. A lady came running toward us and said, “Shaykh Hisham, Shaykh Hisham! I listen to everything on Sufilive.” [Mawlana asks a mureed.] She is Muslim, is it not? So what was she saying?

[Mureed explains: She said she followed you for ten years, Sayyidi, and she tried to see you. She wanted to get a job, and she asked for your madad, and as soon she got the job, she had a vision of you and then you walked into her place of work, and she promised she will come here to renew her Islam.]

So there are two sides of the du`a: one side comes from the Divine Presence, and one side comes from dunya, to abolish the craziness of dunya. When they come together it makes fire and the du`a will be accepted. Now some du`as are not accepted, but it does not mean they are not accepted by Allah (swt), the Prophet (s), and Awliya. At that moment, they ask from that power from which his du`a will reach his call.

So don’t say, “I didn't get my answer,” or, “my du`a was not accepted.” Not all du`as are accepted, but Allah does not leave anyone behind, He gives everyone a share from the cake of the Prophet (s). We are asking for that cake: if we get it we get everything!

So Shaykh Adnan passed away because physically, dunya-wise, people understand that he fainted and hit his head on marble, but he did not faint from that. That happened towards the end of Ramadan, but he passed away after Ramadan. At that time the blood that accumulated in his forehead was something; Allah was pulling him, and Allah is going to call everyone! Therefore, prepare your answers: if they are good it will be good, but if you answer badly, still it will be good by Shafa`at an-Nabi (s).

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

He is saying there is food on the table for everyone. It is Sunnah for the family of the deceased to feed people for three days, to keep them busy, as they are sad and crying for their departed loved one. So please go eat and that will be baraka for us as well as the deceased. Even if you already ate at home, eat one spoon for the baraka and that du`a will be accepted. Tomorrow will be Mawlud again at same time, eight o'clock. Everyone is invited to eat for the baraka of the deceased and their family thank you for coming and inshaa-Allah we will see you tomorrow.
