Suhbah after `Asr
We pray that all this rubbish fitna that tried to grow up to be reduced and disappear inshaa-Allah soon. Allah doesn’t like that. He said in Holy Qur’an:
Yaa ayyuhalladeena ammanoo ‘jtaniboo katheeran min ad-dhann inna ba`d ad-dhanee ithmun wa laa tajassasoo wa laa yaghtab b`adukum b`adan ayyuhibu aahadukum an yaakula lahma akeehi maytan fa-karihtumoohu.
O you who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible) and spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would abhor it.
(Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:12)
And:
Wa laa tajasassoo wa laa yaghtab b`adakum b`adan ayyuhibbu ahadukum an yaakulu lahma aakheehi maytan fa-karihtumooh.
And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? No, you would abhor it. (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:12)
Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur’an, “O believers! Beware and make yourself away from doubtful news because many of those are wrong, you might regret it later.” So alhamdulillah, Shaykh Adnan explained everything and opened everything and asked everyone from this group or that group, all of us are under the banner of Mawlana Shaykh (q) and the banner of awliyaullah and the banner of Grandshaykh (q) and Prophet (s). So we don’t want to be bad examples to the world, because I know through my experiences of 23 years in America that a lot of PhD students have written about the Naqshbandi Sufi Order of Mawlana Shaykh and they call it “an-Naqshbandi al-Mahdawiyya.” So we want to be very careful in speaking and in addressing, not to make things that are not acceptable by Shari`ah and not acceptable by tariqah.
That is my advice to everyone and we hope inshaa-Allah from today, and Rajab is coming, that we can be together under one banner. Now people might differ in their opinions, but let us have a gentlemen’s difference, to respect each other’s ideas and respect each other’s explanation of whatever they say, because you don’t know with what hikmah Allah (swt) will guide someone to Islam, like He guided him (a mureed) through a book of Mawlana Shaykh. We don’t know how people will be guided, so we have to be very careful in what we are saying and what we are addressing.
Allah (swt) said:
Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.
Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo in ja’akum faasiqun bi naba'in fa-tabayyinoo an tuseeboo qawman bi-jahaalatin fatusbihoo `alaa maa fa`ltum naadimeen.
O you who believe! If a corrupt person comes to you with something wrong, ascertain the truth unless you harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what you have done.
(Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:6)
If someone came to you with a story, check it, don’t jump on it quickly! Might be it is wrong. If it is wrong you can call that person who said it and try to fix it. If it is correct, try to call the one who did it to fix it and correct himself. We are all sinners; we are not saying that we are not sinners as no one did not make a sin except Prophet (s), as he is ma`soom, infallible. So we have to follow the way of Sahaabah (r).
Allah said in Holy Qur’an:
قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Qul in kuntum tuhibboona 'Llaaha fattabi`oonee yuhbibkumullaahu wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum w 'Allaahu Ghafooru 'r-Raheem.
Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)
“If you really love Allah, follow me,” Allah (swt) said to the Prophet (s) to say to the ummah, “Allah loves you.” I cannot say except to myself and also to everyone else, not to follow anyone except Prophet (s). We have to follow the Prophet (s) in every movement we are moving in this dunya! Prophet (s) is the leader and Prophet (s) is the Prophet (s), Allah’s Messenger, the Seal of Messengers. He is the one that can guide us to Allah (swt). Awliyaullah guide us to Prophet (s) and Prophet (s) guides us to Allah (swt) because he is the Owner of Mi`raaj.
We hope that, inshaa-Allah, Mawlana’s message will continue through him and Allah gives him life and Allah gives him health that he can continue his message, and we have to follow the way of Prophet (s) which Mawlana is following already and teaching it to us. Every gesture we do, there are people checking on us! Don’t think that we are left behind. I received a lot of calls that there are people - and you know what we mean - following up on us in every action we are doing, in every word we are saying. Technology now doesn’t keep anything hidden, everything is posted. And when it is posted that is what they want; they can know what you are doing; they can understand you; they know where you go and where you come through your telephone, through your credit card and through everything. Even in your home they can listen to what you are speaking with your wife with the new technology. So we have to be very careful in every word we say.
We are peace lovers. We are tolerant people, we tolerate everyone, we build bridges with everyone, and we don’t fight with anyone. We will work with the Muslims and with the non-Muslims in many ways in order to approach them through Islam. We keep our religion strong, we keep our belief strong in Prophet (s), we keep our Tawheed strong and we don’t fear anyone.
May Allah (swt) forgive us and bless us, and this Shaykh Adnan, my brother. We grew up in the lap of Grandshaykh, Shaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q) and we are brothers and we were like friends to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), although he is our shaykh, but since the difference in age was not too much we were feeling like he is our elder brother and we would joke with him and play with him and speak with him. So we grew up in that environment. That is why I cannot accept except to love my brother and to learn from him what he says, and my other brother Dr. Mahmoud. They teach us to love each other and may Allah (swt) keep us in that union and that unity.
I was amazed when I went to India, I didn’t believe myself that we drove like one day-and-a-half to reach Sirhind where there are six or seven Naqshbandi big shaykhs: Sayyidina Ahmad al-Faruqi (q), and before him Muhammad al-Baqi (q), all the way to Sayyidina Khalid al-Baghdadi (q). They are all buried there. I looked up on the mountain and there hundreds of thousands of people are coming to their shrines and their holy graves and visiting. I said to someone near me, “These are the ones who are alive,” not those who are dead. The Wahhabis say when you die you die, you finish. So how can these people be attracted as if to a magnet? They can attract all these hundreds of thousands of people to come and visit them from all around the world and especially at Nizamuddin Awliya in Dehli you can see non-Muslims--Europeans, Americans, westerners, from South Africa and Africa, Southeast Asia, Subcontinent, and everywhere. They drop their work and they go there to pray in that area at that maqaam which is a huge place which can accommodate hundreds of thousands of people and among all of them no one is fighting with another; all of them don’t know each other, but they are united under that wali. Why then do we fight for the smallest things? I cannot understand it.
So may Allah give us... I said this before, that (India) is the land of awliya. I used to see Grandshaykh (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) say Sham is the land of awliya. Of course Sham is the land of awliya after Mecca and Madinah, but India and Sirhind is the land of awliya of that area and knowledge. When they used to say that an `alim from India is coming to Lebanon we would shake, scholars would shake because that means a big `alim. These `ulama of Hind, it is not easy to say “`ulama of Hind;” they are very dedicated, especially awliyaullah. If the `ulama are like that, what about awliyaullah? So we visited them and they feed people, hundreds of thousands of people in Ajmeer Shareef, and they eat there daily. Do you know how big is the pot? Bigger than this hall, that pot alone. They make lentils in it. They climb on stairs in order to stir it and they can enter under it. It is very high, like two meters and people can enter to put the wood and they begin to cook and with that food they feed everyone, no one goes without eating!
Who is bringing them, who is attracting them? Allah (swt), the Light of imaan, like the Sahaabah (r) were attracted to Prophet (s) and he put in them a Light. Awliyaullah put in these people Lights to be attracted, to come to visit and remember Allah and His Prophet (s).
May Allah forgive us. May Allah bless us.
Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
