A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.
Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,
nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`ala fee haadha 'l-masjid.
Ati`ullaha wa ati`u 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (4:59)
You see in Holy Qur'an it is written "east and west",
وَلِلّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ
wa lillahi 'l-Mashriq wal Maghrib, "Lord of the East and West" (al-Baqarah, 2:115) and
رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ
rabbi'l-mashriqayni wa 'l-maghribayn
"Lord of the Two Easts and the Two Wests", (Ar-Rahman, 55:17)
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ
falaa uqsimu bi-rabbi'l-mashaariqi wa 'l-maghaarib
"Lord of the Easts and the Wests". (Al-Ma'arij, 70:40)
It never says "north" or "south". Why Allah (swt) says no north and no south? (It has) no value; value is where the sun rises and sets.
Of the day and the night, east has its flavor and west has its flavor; relax in the west, but in east working. In the east there are too many problems, but in the west not so many problems. It is a big sign, subhanaAllah, coming from the east. So in every moment there is an east and there is a west. There is a sunrise and there is a sunset. What is the meaning of sunrise and what is the meaning of sunset?
To awliyaullah, sunrise is a new day, and sunset is an end of a cycle, the end of the day. It means sunrise is a day, as Allah (swt) said maaliki yawmi 'd-deen, "Owner of the Day of Judgment." (Suratu 'l-Fatihah) That means in every sunrise there is a creation and in every sunset there is a Day of Judgment. That means a new era that is coming and with every sunset that era ends.
Because don't think, don't evaluate Allah's Greatness with your thinking; you cannot! That is why every sunrise Allah create a creation that by the end of that day that creation is ending. To you it has a time that is counted as one day, but to them that might be 1000 years!
وَإِنَّ يَوْمًا عِندَ رَبِّكَ كَأَلْفِ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ
wa inna yawman `inda rabbika ka alfi sannatin mimmat ta`oodoon.
Verily a Day in the sight of thy Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning. (22:47)
That might be for them 1000 years and one day for you, or it might be 1000 years for you and one day for them!
New creation comes and old creation goes. So that is why Lord of the Sunrise, mashriq, and Lord of the sunset, rabbul-maghrib, rabbul-mashiriqay wa rabbul maghribayn, Lord of Two Easts and Lord of Two Wests, and Lord of Easts and Wests. We have to learn to count as we are kindergarten children, so they are teaching us, one sunrise and one sunset, two sunrises and two sunsets, and many sunrises and many sunsets.
This is enough for tonight and we will explain more on Saturday, inshaAllah. This is for you because you came tonight and Mawlana shaykh is pushing (opening the suhbah).
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
