A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

In the last session we mentioned a Hadith narrated by Sayyidina `Ali (r) where he was asked about the Last Days. We explained half of that Hadith where it is said that Sayyidina `Ali (r) went on the minbar and addressed the people, some of them were Sahaabah and some of them Tabi`een, he addressed them after thanking Allah and praising Him, saying, “O Human Beings, yaa ayyuhan-naas!” His khitaab, advice, is going to all whom Allah created: ‘naas’ in plural form does not mean the 10, 15, 100, people who are sitting there, but it means he is addressing everyone that has been created!

While on the minbar, `Ali ibn Abi Talib (r) praised and glorified Allah, then he said, “O People! Ask me before you lose me, ask me before you lose me, ask me before you lose me!” Upon this, Sa`sa` bin Sawhaan al-`Abdee stood up and said, “O Leader of the Faithful! Inform us of when the Dajjal will come.” He said, “O Ibn Sawhaan, this is Allah’s knowledge; the one asked knows no more than the one asking, but there are signs that will come one after another, like foot after foot. If you like I can inform of the signs.” He said, “That was what I asked of you, O Leader of the Faithful.” He said, “O Sa`sa`, tie your hands together. [The signs are] if people make the prayer to die and lose the Trust that Allah gave them and allow lying and consume usury and take bribes and build high buildings and follow their desires and sell their religion for the dunya and have no value for human life and families ties are broken and there is no forbearance and oppression makes people happy and princes become shameless and government ministers become deceitful and those who work with them become oppressive and their reciters of Qur’an become corrupted and tyranny is everywhere and divorce is common and sudden death becomes common, as does slander, and Qur’ans are ornamented and mosques are decorated and minarets are tall and the rows of prayer are crowded and promises are not kept and hearts are ruined and the woman is a partner with her husband in business for the sake of dunya and women no longer wear skirts and they imitate men and men imitate women, and peace is in true knowledge and the Shahaadah is said before being martyred and they are like sheepskin dressed on the hearts of wolves, their hearts are more bitter than aloes and more putrid than corpses, and people confuse `amal of the Akhirah with the dunya and there is studying of Fiqh without true knowledge, deliverance, deliverance! Safety, safety! Careful, careful! Do more, do more! O Ibn Sawhaan, at that time how happy will the resident of Bayt al-Maqdis be! There will come a time upon people when the individual says,“If only I were a piece of straw in the bricks of Bayt al-Maqdis!” (Ibn al-Munadi and Kanz al-`Ummaal 39709)

Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said that Sayyidina `Ali (r) has been called Asadullah al-Ghalib, “the Victorious Lion of Allah,” showing how much power he has. “Allah's Lion” means he can reach East and West by the permission and blessings the Prophet (s) gave him, and the Prophet (s) said:

أنا مدينة العلم و علي بابه

I am the City of Knowledge and `Ali is its Door (or Gate). (al-Haakim, Tirmidhi)

It means everyone seeking knowledge must go through his door, through the barakah and blessings of Sayyidina `Ali (r) that Allah bestowed on him. Out of love, he wanted to announce to the Sahaabah (r) so he said, “O People! Ask me before you lose me.” One person, Sa`Sa` ibn Sawhaan al-`Abdee (r) said, “O Amir al-Mu’mineen, can you tell us when the Anti-Messiah, the Anti-Christ Massih ad-Dajjal, the False One who will make fitna all over the Earth will come?” We are seeing that today, how many dajjal came already, too many! They claim to be the Messiah but they are not, they are Massih ad-Dajjal, because too much oppression and antagonism is filling the Earth. He named some of the Signs of that and the main one is idhaa amaat an-naasu as-salaah, if people will make prayer dead, and we are seeing that today: the Muslims are not praying, leave alone non-Muslims. The Muslims are not praying as ordered by Allah (swt):

إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَّوْقُوتًا

Truly prayer has been enjoined upon the Believers in prescribed times. (Surat al-Nisaa, 4:103)

It is written that everyone who is a Believer in Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s) has to pray and today we see many Muslims are not praying. He said this will be one of the Signs of the Last Days.

Wa adaa`u ‘l-ahillah, and they lost the Amaanah, the Trust: the one given a trust betrays you and does not acknowledge that he betrayed you, he speaks bad about you and tries to hit you from the back by backbiting you. People are losing the Trust that Allah (swt) offered to human beings and they ran after it, but when Allah offered it to Heavens and Earth, they said, “Yaa Rabbee, we cannot carry,” and Allah (swt) said:

نَّا عَرَضْنَا الْأَمَانَةَ عَلَى السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَن يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا الْإِنسَانُ

إِنَّهُ كَانَ ظَلُومًا جَهُولًا

Indeed, We offered the Trust to the Heavens and the Earth and the Mountains, but they refused to undertake it, being afraid, but Man undertook it! He proved to be a tyrant and a fool.

(Surat al-Ahzaab, 33:72)

It is not only a reminder for you, all of us are sitting here. Did we lose the Trust that Allah has given us? [Yes.] Yes, we lost the Trust because we are not doing what Allah ordered us on the Day of Promises when:

أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ

[Allah asked] “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes!” (Surat al-Araaf, 7:172)

We said yes, and we affirmed that promise, which is the Five Pillars of Islam: Shahaadah (to say, “Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa ‘Llah wa-anna Muhammadan rasoolullah”) wa iqaami ‘l-salaati wa eetaa’i ‘l-zakaati wa sawmu ramadaan wa hajju ‘l-bayt.

Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establishing the Salaah (prayer); paying the Zakaat (obligatory charity); performing the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House; and, fasting in Ramadan.

(Bukhari and Muslim)

When we came to dunya we lost the Trust, the Amaanah Allah gave us because now people are not interested in anything but entertaining themselves, they don’t care about prayers, they don’t care for salaat, siyaam, zakaat and Hajj, and we are breaching our contract by losing the Trust with Allah (swt).

Wastahallu ‘l-kadhdhib, they make lying halaal. Everyone lies. From every walk of life there are people who are lying in order to satisfy themselves. We mentioned a Hadith about lying in a previous session:

قال أبو الدرداء وذكر بعضهم قال عبدالله بن جراد يارسول الله هل يزني المؤمن قال قد يكون ذلك قال هل يسرق المؤمن قال قد يكون ذلك قال هل يكذب المؤمن قال لا ثم أتبعها نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : { إنما يفتري الكذب الذين لا يؤمنون بآيات الله } النحل : 105

One time the Sahaabah (r) asked the Prophet (s), “Yaa Rasoolullah! Does the mu’min steal or rob?" The Prophet (s) replied, "Perhaps." They asked, "Does the mu’min make zinaa (adultery)?" The Prophet (s) replied, "Perhaps." Then they asked him, "Does the mu’min lie?" To this the Prophet (s) replied, "This, no!" Then the Prophet (s) followed it by (reciting), “Only they invent falsehood who believe not Allah's Revelations, and (only) they are the liars.” [Surat al-Nahl, 16:105] (Kanzu ’l-`Ummal, 8994)

A Believer or non-believer, Muslim or non-Muslim has no right to lie: you cannot lie! Allah is watching you and knows who is lying and who is not. Allah does not like people who lie. When people begin to lie, especially politicians, their understanding is only how to manipulate things and make strategies to conquer and fight each other. He said, wastahallu ‘l-kadhdhib, “And they make lies as if they are halaal,” like if you say something but in reality you are hiding something else.

Wa akalu ‘r-riba wa akhadhu ‘r-rishwaa, they eat all kinds of usury and take money under the table. How did Sayyidina `Ali (r) know that 1500 years ago? Did they give money ‘under the table’ (bribes) in that time? They didn’t. Now they take and give endless bribes and are happy to say, “We are millionaires and billionaires,” and all their money is haraam!

Wa shayyidu ‘l-binaa, and they build high rises. He did not say how high, but they ‘build high buildings.’ When Jibreel (a) asked the Prophet (s) about the Signs of the Last Days, he said, “When you see the barefooted Bedouins competing in building high rises.”

Until the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings. (Bukhari)

The Prophet (s) said it 1400 years ago, one of the Signs of the Last Days when you see these high building. Even in Mecca now you see huge buildings, the Ka`bah became a small building. They are competing to build high buildings. Now the Eiffel Tower is nothing compared to today’s huge buildings. Sayyidina `Ali (r) received that knowledge from the Prophet (s), that is the Sign of the Last Days.

Wattaba`u ‘l-ahwaa, “And they worship something very precious.” All of them and all of us are worshipping our desires, we are following al-ahwaa, and anything your desire forces you to do you cannot stop it, so you become a prisoner in the hands of your desires. That is why the addicted person cannot leave alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs, although he knows it is going to kill him, still he does it until they find him thrown on the street dead: their desire killed them. Alhamdulillah, we have to praise and thank Allah (swt) that He put us away from these drugs and cigarettes and all kinds of addictions. Sayyidna `Ali (r) said, wattaba`u ‘l-ahwaa, “And they follow their desires,” they are addicted to their desires. Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, “You have to struggle with yourself. Whenever your self tells you to do something, do the opposite. That is how you can stop your desire from riding you; you have to ride your ego by doing the opposite of what it is asking you to do. If you are able to do that you are ascending in higher and higher levels.”

Wa baa`u ‘d-deena bi ‘d-dunya, “And they sold their religion for dunya.” They stopped practicing their religion, the orders Allah sent to them through His Messenger, Sayyidina Muhammad, alayhi afdalu ‘s-salaatu wa salaam, and through many other messengers, Sayyidina `Isa, Sayyidina Nuh and Sayyidina Musa (alayhimu ‘s-salaam) in their times...many sold their religion for the benefit of getting dunya. Now you ask people what they like, dunya or religion, and they say, “Dunya, don't be old-fashioned, outdated, enjoy yourself! Enjoy drugs as much as you can, it is open! You can have hashish, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy tablets. One time use it, try it, you will benefit! You will be happy, at least you will be high.” Allahu Akbar.

Kulli mudurrin yuqtal is a principle in Islam that every harmful thing must be eliminated. Ask yourself, is it harmful or not, even one percent? Allah (swt) gave you a body that is balanced, don't do anything that will break Allah’s rules, because Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) leaned more on the left leg than the right leg when praying, Allah called him, yaa Zhaalim, “O Oppressor! You oppressed My Creation! I created you balanced, why are you leaning more on one side than the other?” To that extent, even if it is giving one percent harm, stop it! To whom are we speaking, to the walls? Me and you. I am not saying I am better or perfect. No, astaghfirullah.

We are trying to be zero, as Mawlana (q) used to say all the time, “I am zero,” it means to have no desires. When you ride your desires you succeed. When you are being slapped from right and left, remember that you are now on the Right Path because too many oppositions are coming from different sides. Shaytan will play his games against anyone trying his best to come out of his desires, Shaytan will try to put him back in his desires! You struggle and Allah will reward you. If you see people backbiting you, know you are on Haqq. What is their concern to backbite or speak about you? Let them look at themselves. Look inside your clothes and try to find yourself inside that jubba, don't look there, look at your own footsteps. Don’t look far away as you are losing focus, look within you.

Wa baa`u ‘d-deena bi ‘d-dunya, they sold religion for dunya. “Yaa Rabbee, I must have dunya. You gave us dunya, we have to enjoy it.” But Allah sent you a message through a messenger: to pray and fast, to do good things in dunya in order to get the blessing of Akhirah. If you don't want Akhirah it’s up to you, do what you want, but if you want Akhirah don’t sell your religion for dunya, sell dunya for your religion.

Wastakhaffu ‘d-dimaa, and they did not give any consideration for bloodshed. Bloodshed for them is easy: only put a knife on the neck of people and say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem, Allahu Akbar,” and they kill. You don’t see how they are slaughtering people not only with swords or knives, but also with machine guns.

Each party rejoices in that which is with itself. (Surat ar-Rum, 30:32)

Every party has it’s own connections and they are killing each other, this is what he said, wastakhaffu ‘d-dimaa, they take killing lightly, as if it is nothing to kill a hundred people. They drop bombs from airplanes on innocent people, not caring that hundreds of children will die or hundreds of thousands men will die, who cares? That word ‘wastakhaffu ‘d-dimaa’ applies to what is happening today in the Middle East.

Wa taqatta`at al-arhaam, the cutting of blood ties: cousins, uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters are separated, everyone went in a different direction. There are no more family relationships or social family life where they know and respect each other, marry and build houses for each other, building communities together. You don’t see this anymore. If you go to tribal areas you see that until today they have connections from hundreds of years, cousins and uncles know each other, they know the man, the lady, the boy and the girl, who belongs to whom. Today you don't even know your neighbor; if you speak to your neighbors they look at you strangely, especially looking at your beard, saying “Who is that?”

Wa saar al-hilmu da`fan, and they mistake forbearance for weakness, they view your patience with others as weakness. Hilm means patience, forbearing, da`fan means weakness. He said, wa saar al-hilmu da`fan, “Patience seems like a weakness from you,” and that is what is happening today. Al-haleem, the patient one, is seen as weak: he is a loser these days, it is better to be jabbaar.

Allah (swt) sifatu ‘l-hilm, huwa ‘l-haleem wa huwa ‘s-saboor. the last of Allah's 99 Beautiful Names is as-Saboor, the Patient One and His Name is al-Haleem, the Forbearing One. What about us? We are not haleem, we are angry people. Allah is calling Himself, al-Haleem, the Forbearing One, means you have to follow. Allah (swt) said:

Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:31)

Prophet (s) said that one of Allah’s (swt) Names is al-Haleem, it means be like that, but we are angry people, especially those who backbite: they have to make fitna everywhere and if they see a successful group the throw some fitna in it in order to kill that group to not sit together.

Wa azh-zhulmu farhaan, to be oppressor is happiness. To be haleem is weakness, to be an oppressor is happiness! Tough guys are good, they go to gym to become tough, and get six packs, eight packs, twelve packs. What is this, that is your life? Why don’t you wear a shirt? No one can see your muscles unless you go naked. If you are working for six packs for your desires, then prepare yourselves to be six packs in Hellfire! If you are doing it for a certain reason, for something important, that is okay, but to work to be Mr. Universe or Miss Universe, that doesn't work. Azh-zhulmu farahan, and oppression is happiness. How did Sayyidina `Ali (r) know that? By taking knowledge from the Prophet (s).

Wa ‘l-umaraa’u fajara, and your leaders are fajara, the worst! If you want to speak with them they shout and scream at you. These are your leaders: the most bad-mannered and their tongues are so sharp when they speak they make you to be quiet, afraid to reply. If the leaders are bad-mannered, what about their ministers, are they okay? What did Sayyidina `Ali (r) say?

Wa ‘l-wuzaraa khawana, your ministers are traitors. If the leaders are fajara with sharp tongues, the ministers are traitors! You are going to see that in the Signs of Last Days. Do we see something like that? [Yes.] Where is the money that people sweat to make? They take all your money. Show me someone who is living happily with no concern about his money, because they have accept their circumstances. Do you have anything in your pocket? Al-muflasoon laa yukhbathoon, the bankrupted never goes to prison, “I have nothing to go to prison for.” Wa ‘l-wuzaraa khawana, ministers are traitors. “Traitors” has many meanings, but we are not going to go through spiritual meanings now. You are the traitor against yourself: you think you are something and come against your true self to follow your desires. You are betraying what you promised on the Day of Promises, you betrayed your promise to fast and you are not fasting, you promised to pray and you are not praying, you promised to give zakaat and you are not giving it, and you promised to go for Hajj and you are not going: khawana, traitors! The people who work for them are oppressors; they need people to work for them, to have the key to different groups.

Wa `urafaa’uhum zhalama, their sergeants ya’muroo bi shay fa minn nafidh, those who implement what has been dictated to them are traitors and oppressors.

Wa quraa'uhum fasaqa, their teachers, those teaching them are corrupted. It means that some of the teachers in the normal or Islamic schools, in universities and secular schools, in all of them are corrupted.

Wa zhahar al-joor, the appearance of injustice will be everywhere. Today many people around the world are unhappy because of injustice as there is no balance, no respect for rules, injustice has been done to everyone.

Wa kathara at-talaaq wa mawt al-fujaa'a, and too many divorces. It’s good to stop at this, too many divorce. Today you find people divorced around the world, men and women cannot live with each other more than 10 years and changing spouses becomes like changing shoes. The man after some time will say, “I cannot stay with you, I need to find another lady,” and the lady will say, “I want to look for another man.” All day they betray each other. The percentage of divorce everywhere it is so high, above 50%. By the barakah of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), Sayyidina `Ali (r) was able to see that is going to happen in the future. Today the wife doesn't care for the husband and the husband does not care for the wife, the house is falling apart, the children go left and right and no one knows what to do.

Wa mawt al-fujaa’a, and the sudden death. They were living 100, 120, 150 years in some villages around the world. Today people die suddenly: they are okay, going to work, planning, and die suddenly. I know someone very dedicated to Islam, who migrated from his country to England. He was a jeweler and had an agreement with one of the famous watch manufacturers with diamonds in their watches. He completed a course in such kind of jewelry and the day he passed his exams, after three years of studying and he had opened a new store in Heathrow Airport, he was sitting with his wife speaking about my program in London and suddenly his head fell on his wife's shoulder and he died. All that he planned and arranged to open a store in Heathrow and suddenly he died. He did not take anything with him: no jewelry, no diamonds, nothing. Wa mawt al-fujaa’a. The Prophet (s) used to say, “O Allah, don’t give my Ummah sudden death. Let them die on their beds.”

The soul does not know in which land it will die. (Surat Luqman, 31:34)

For sure you don’t know where you are going to die, in which state, country, which store or supermarket, you don’t know. He said mawt al-fujaa’a, sudden death will be very common. Today people are sitting in their homes and a rocket comes from an airplane and kills them by the hundreds, suddenly, and that never happened throughout history.

Wa qawl al-buhtaan, to open your mouth and speak false rumors. How many false rumors do we have around us, even within this small group? What about bigger and bigger groups? Everyone is fighting with everyone. We will continue this long Hadith in another session, now it is Maghrib time.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
