First Night of the Blessed Month, Dhul -Qa`da

Sultan al-Awliyaa

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

7 October 2010 Lefke, Cyprus

Huuuuuu. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Laa ilaaha illa-Llah. Laaa ilaaha illa-Llah. Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah `alayhi salaatullah wa salaamuh. Thumma as-salaatu wa 's-salaam `alaa Sayyiddi 'l-Anbiyaa wal-Mursaleen min ahli 's-samawaati wa 'l-araadeen. Yaa Rabbana yaa Rabb ighfir w 'arham wa anta khayru Raahimeen fi hadhihi 'l-laylatu 'l-mubaraka, "Glorification and praises to Allah and heavenly beings, especially on this holy night." Awwal min shahri'l haraam Dhil-Qa'dah.

Alhamdulillah, we have been honored. Thumma as-salaamu `alayk yaa Saahib az-Zamaan wa `alaa jamee`i 'l-awliyaa wa saadaatina 'l-kiraam/ amiduna bi madadikum fee mithli hadha ash-shahri ash-shareef. As-salaamu `alaykum yaa `ibaadAllah as-saaliheen. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) Madad. A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani 'r-rajeem.

O our Lord! We are running to You from Shaytan and its followers. We are asking protection for the honor of the Seal of Prophets (s), that he is the most glorified and honored one from pre-Eternal up to Eternal in the Divine Presence. And we are saying, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) For the honor of Allah Almighty, giving honor as He likes. Give us honor and give us heavenly swords against evil and devils. (Mawlana Shaykh sits)

O our Attenders! As-salaamu `alaykum, mubarak! It is a holy night, the first night of Dhil-Qa'dah, which has a special honor in the Divine Presence. Dhil-Qa'dah, Dhil Hijjah and also Muharram al-Haraam have special honor in the Divine Presence, fal yakoon mubarak. We are asking to reach honors, glories, mercy and blessings in these holy months.

O our Attenders! As-salaamu `alaykum. Wake up! Wake up to reach many more heavenly treasures! It is enough that you are going to be melted day by day. Day by day our physical body is melting, melting, melting and we are approaching our graveyard. Don't forget that millions are sleeping but never awakening. Think on it, O mulook, O kings, O umarras, O rich ones! Think on it. Millions of people are sleeping but never awakening. Any guarantee for mulook, for kings and sultans, that they will reach to the morning? Every evening so many people are sleeping and never awakening.

Wa kafaa bi 'l-mawti waa'izhan yaa `Umar, “Let death be the adviser, O `Umar," khitaab an-Nabi. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Don't forget the biggest adviser. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) And a warning for Mankind is death. Death! Therefore, take your advice from death. Wa kafa bi 'l-mawti wa'izhan yaa `Umar. Look, `azhamatu'l-khitaab. The Seal of Prophets was saying this not only for Sayyidina `Umar, but for all believers. They must take their advice from death. Death is running after everyone as a shadow is running after a person. No one knows which day, which month, or which year his ajal, destiny, is coming. Yes. Ajal is never leaving. It is coming, running, running. When your days in this life are finishing, it is taking you, and you are falling down.

"Where is our malik?"

"Our malik left us and went away!"

“Who is in this coffin?”

"Our malik."

“Why is he laying and not sitting?”

"We don't know. He left only his body here, and he himself disappeared!"

Therefore, people are saying janaazatu -'l-malik, "the king’s funeral," janaazatu 's-sultan, "the sultan's funeral," janaazatu 's-Salafi `ulamas. (Mawlana Shaykh laughs)

O Salafi `ulamas! (Mawlana Shaykh laughs) Marhaban! Kayfa haalakum? How are you? Mawt, sleeping? Everyone must prepare for that day himself when he is leaving his shadow body and taken away. Try to understand the holy words of the Seal of Prophets who was praying and saying, ij’al aakhir, “O my Lord, make my best day be the one when I am leaving this life.” Salafi `ulamas, are you trying for that or are you trying for something else of no value? What are you teaching people? Are you teaching people, "Prepare yourself for that day when you are going to be taken from this life for another life.” You are not yet meeting with that life. You are going to leave this life for another being, but we haven’t yet been face to face. Ladies, don't think only to run after zeenatu 'd-dunya, worldly pleasures. Don’t say, “We must look at a new model car, we must change our palaces, we must change our buildings, we must change our clothes, we must change everything that we are in need,” no.

O Ladies! Use your minds always. Death is running after everyone--small ones, young ones, old ones, older ones--it is running. One day it will touch you and what you are asking to have now like cars, new fashion cars, new fashion furniture, new fashion clothes, new fashion jewelry will never give you any benefit. Think on it! Don't come to your husband and say, "O my darling. What do you think? May we change our old rings with new one?" Or, "O my darling, what do you think if we are changing our new car, new fashion?" You must leave this! Don't run out too much in the streets, no. Don't run out for making jawlah, going around. Don't run and say, "Oh we may visit London," or, "This year we may go to Rome. We heard that in Paris there is so much pleasure that people are taking." No! You were never created for that purpose. Ladies, don't force your husbands to run after dunya more and more. That is it. Think about tomorrow.

O Salafi `ulamas! Do you know, “Wa dhakkir?” Allah is reminding, "Remind My servants that death is coming. They are not going to be Eternally in this life.” You will be taken away. Don't occupy your efforts with nonsense. Come down a little bit, come down with your physicality so that your spirituality may go up, up, up! If you are not leaving that heaviness, you can't get up. You will always be down. And down, it is worlds are dominions of darkness. Which of you likes to be thrown in a black hole? Beware of black holes! If the Creator is ordering, in one second one black hole is swallowing this world and thousands like it.

O People! Don't play! Don't occupy yourself with nonsense. Everyone now is working for shaytanic aspects, saying, “You must reach to this and you must reach to that.” You were never created for that purpose. Once Ibrahim Adham (r), a great sultan, was hunting and he was running after a deer and he was hearing from his

right ear. He was hearing, "O Ibrahim Adham! Do you think you have been created for this?" Everyone must take their lessons from this small story that just happened. He was a big sultan, and Allah granted to him what very few were reaching, the sultanate. He said, “O `Ibraheem! Do you think you have been created for this, for hunting? You like it because your ego likes that, to hunt. Do you think that is your main mission in this life?"

This question is for everyone who is running away. He was running after a deer. And instead of "deer" we may say to people, after "dunya." He was running after a deer but now people are running after dunya. We may say, "O People! Do you think you have been created to collect dunya?" He was hearing this and in another second, in the other ear he was hearing, coming to him, "O `Ibraheem! Do you think that you have been created for hunting?" And a second voice was saying, "O `Ibraheem! Do you think you have been ordered for that place of jaahil, ignorance, that place of ignorant ones?" And he was taking the reins of his horse and turning back, and saying, “I am giving everything for the sake of my Lord Almighty. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Tubtu wa raja'tu Ilak. O my Lord, I am asking forgiveness! (Mawlana Shaykh sits) And I am changing my target from dunya to mawla."

O People! The Lord of Heavens is looking for every one of us to say, "O my Lord! I left everything and I am turning to You. O my Lord! I don't like anything, my Lord, except You."

O our Lord! Forgive us and we are asking in this holy night that Allah Almighty grants us to understand something for His honorable commands and heavenly orders. We must understand. If not, never-ending troubles, never-ending problems, and never-ending sufferings will come like rains on people. They will never be happy here or Hereafter. May Allah forgive us. May Allah give us on this honorable night of Dhul-Qa`da, to turn our hearts, our intentions, and our efforts only for the sake of Allah. If you are doing something, say, "I am doing this for Your sake, O my Lord, not my ego. I am trying to do everything for You, O my Lord."

O Salafi `ulamas! Every night as they are saying and giving to my tongue to speak, it is not only for you, I am in it also. We must correct our steps. What is Allah Almighty saying? You are learned people. And Allah Almighty is saying, qadama sidqin, fassir. Give meaning for this as much as you can. Qadama sidqin. The Lord of Heavens is asking His servants to come to Him, to His Heavenly Presence. But you can go to that very special Presence only with qadama sidqin, true steps. You must know where you are putting your steps, on true way or wrong way. With the wrong way, no one is coming in the Divine Presence, just kicking him down as Shaytan was kicked down.

O Ummat an-Muhammad! (Mawlana Shaykh stands) O Ummat al-Habeeb! Qadama sidqin, true steps. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) If not, no makhlas, escaping. You can’t save yourselves, here or Hereafter.

May Allah forgive us for the honor of this holy month, here and Hereafter. Yaa Rabbee, forgive us. We are asking for cleanliness. Send us from Your clean servants to teach us how we can be clean, and how we can be honored. Heavenly cleanliness is giving us honor.

O People! Come and listen! Leave dunya! Forgive us for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). (Mawlana Shaykh stands and sits)

Fatihah.

(35 minutes) (1,189) Eighty-nine, alhamdulillah. Yaa Rabbee shukr. Yaa Rabbee shukr. Yaa Rabbee shukr.

(Mawlana Shaykh prays two raka`at Salaat ash-Shukr.)
