Fight Your Ego and Stop Fighting Others

Sultan al-Awliya

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani

15 October 2011 Lefke, Cyprus

(Translated from Arabic)

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلاَمٍ آمِنِين

Adkhuloohaa bi salaamin aamineena.

(Having been received with the greeting,) Enter here in peace, secure. (Al-Hijr, 15:46)

إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمَن دَخَلَهُ كَانَ آمِنًا

wa man dakhalahu kaana aaminan.

Whosoever enters it is in safety. (Aali-`Imran, 3:97)

Safety is in “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.” Say, “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem,” and you will attain the highest safety from the Heavens. If the servants of The Lord are in difficulty, they should say, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem, and nothing bad will come on them either from the Heavens, or from the Earth.

O Arabs! Stop all these troubles! Don't say (to your leaders), "Leave!" Say it to yourselves instead. Every person must say, "leave"- to themselves. Because there is not only one Salih, one Mubarak, one Qadhafi or one Bashar, no. Everybody has his own enemy, an enemy within him personally; his ego.

إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ

Inna an-nafsa la-ammaaratun bi ’s-soo’.

Truly the self commands to evil. (Surah Yusuf, 12:53)

Everything that is happening in our times, is the result of the demands of the lowest part of the ego. Inna an-nafsa la-ammaaratun bi ’s-soo’. Every evil appearing in human beings is encouraged by the ego saying, "Do this, do that!" Whoever listens to his ego, his end will not be a good one. Finish! People listen and follow their ‘self that commands to evil.’

They do not follow the orders of Heavens. Till they submit to the orders of The Lord, the orders of Heavens, this corruption will not stop. Nobody can stop all these killings, no! Because all the people who have power, are following their deceiving egos, that is the ‘self that commands to evil.’ Finished!

All the Arab world, the East, and the Western world are following their lowest egoistic desire, ‘that commands them to evil.’ It commands! May Allah protect us. O servants of The Lord, listen and take wisdom. Obey the orders of your Lord. It will save you from a painful punishment, otherwise there is no way out. No escape. People will want to scream:

أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ

Ayna al-mafarru?

Where to escape? ( al-Qiyamah, 75:10)

This is the punishment for those who deny the laws of The Lord, who deny the orders of The Lord that were sent to His Prophets (s). Madad yaa Sayyidi, dastoor yaa Rabbee! And for this the Prophet (s) asked, "O Lord! Don't leave me to my ego, not even for the blink of an eye." But people are in the hands of their egos; they listen to it and follow their ego's lowest desires, not the Words of the Lord Almighty or of the Prophet (s), or the message that comes from Heavens. Na`oodhu billah, Yaa Rabbee! Forgive us! O Lord! Don't leave us to our egos, not for the blink of an eye, or less than that. Allah, Allah!

O People! Remember the hadith, "We came back from the smaller jihad to the greater one." They asked, "What is that, O Rasoolullah?" He said, "The battle of the ego."

Al-jihadu jihadayn: jihad an-nafs wa jihad al-`adoo.

Jihad is of two: first, the jihad against your ego, then the jihad against your enemy.

People run after the whims, demands or desires of their egos; they don't have any balance or self control over their egos and therefore, there must be a guide, alive or in his grave, to lead them. People deny guides, but without a guide how can matters improve? How can a sick person get cured without a doctor?

Allahu Akbar, amaan yaa Rabbee! O Lord! Don't leave us to our egos, not even for the blink of an eye! This is important. Amaan yaa Rabbee, tawbah yaa Rabbee! O Lord! Have mercy on our weaknesses and our faults.

Fatihah.
