Salam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

Ramadan mubarak, of reveryone, for the ladies and for the men for the bortrhes and sisters in Islam, for all humanity insha-Allah Ramadan will be a way to purify our hearts from love of dunya, hubb ad-dunya. May Allah take away love of dunya from our hearts. Because as Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, love of dunya is the head of every sin and mistake."

Human beings outside, why do they quarrel? Because of the love of dunya, this world. Our Shuyookh sometimes show us by experience. Like today, for example, I have an experience that was from hubb ad-dunya. If you make a mistake or have a fight with someone it is usually for materialism, hubb ad-dunya. Leaders fight with each other for what? Families fight with each other for what? Brothers and sisters fight each other for what? To take back something the other has. So the biggest mistake that mankind has is hubb ad-dunya, love of this world.

So Ramadan comes and takes what you love the most hubb ad-dunya. You cannot enjoy what you have either by physicality or by monitoring. Ramadan blocks that. That is what we hope that Ramadan brings purity to the hearts of people.

Darkness has taken over the hearts of people, Muslims and non-Muslims. That is why we come to these associations, majaalis.

Why do we come to such associations? To find the 'light at the end of the tunnel'. You go into the tunnel some tunnels have some light and some have no light but you wait to reach the 'grand' light.

In these associations and majlis we do by following our Shaykh Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) is to bring hope to the heart that is darkened by love of this world. Inshaa-Allah this Ramadan will bring the benefit through hope and light for humanity to go out to.

So from love of this world, Mawlana is talking about Pharoah, and Mawlana is saying `ashaa mithal hayaatanaa, he has lived like we are living. Pharaoh was the big king in Egypt. He lived life like us but in him there was a characteristic that is in every human being: the claim to be al-fareed al-waheed, a matchless and peerless unique one. He was peerless, unique and matchless, and so he claimed not to be of the human race anymore. “I am not one of you any more! I am what? I am God." Every one of human beings has that feature and characteristic in their hearts, to be matchless, unmatched, unparalleled, and they claimed that. But in Pharaoh that attribute "I am the One" appeared in its perfection.

He never accepted to go under the level of lordship even if there are 1000 gods, and each human being claims to be lord. “We want to adjust the genes.” “What do you want to do with it?” “We want to create something.” No, creation is only for Allah (swt). Allah says 'Be' and it will be. We only put things together. Human beings put genes and genomes together but you cannot create anything. Yet they claim they are gods changing genes and changing the animal race and the human race, and they have that feature in their hearts that they are gods.

I am reading from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim that Allah (swt) has told Rasoolullah (s) on the Night Journey, “Yaa Habeebee, if I left the reins of my servants lose as I let the reins of Pharaoh lose they would all come to claim 'I am the highest god.'” I let Pharoah lose so that he was freed to claim that he is lord. That is your characteristic of human beings nowadays. Nowadays human beings have been let loose by being given technology and electricity and he is looking at what you will do with it and you claim to be God. You want to change creation and change things. But Allah sees.

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani:

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een wa man tabia`ahum bi ihsaanin ila yawmi 'd-deen.

Alhamdulillah that we have begun fasting according to the calendar, and we are following the Saudis. As-salam `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

Dr. Nour Kabbani:

We were saying that Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in his suhbahs relates that Allah (swt) spoke to Rasoolullah (s) on The Night of Israa and Mi`raaj, “O My beloved, if I had given the space and ability to the servants of Mine that I gave to Pharaoh, I would not have found one of them who would not have claimed to be the highest lord." That characteristic is in human beings and they would claim to be the highest lord, not only on earth but also in heavens.

May Allah make us of those who acknowledge that in ourselves.

Grandshaykh was saying that when Allah gives you authority you are guardian over your people and its leader; you must be humble and come down and not claim that you are powerful but claim, "I am a weak one in service of my people." The same applies in tariqah, in Islam and around the world The person who is authority must humble himself down and Allah swt will raise him up. When someone humbles himself down he will be raised. May Allah make us of those who are humble.
