Dastoor, yaa Sayyidi, Qutbu ‘l-Muttassarif. Madad, yaa Sultan al-Awliya. Dastoor, yaa Sayyidee wa Mawlay. Yaa Sayyidee Shaykh Nazim. Madad, yaa RijaalAllah.
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
May Allah (swt) be pleased with all of us, especially with you. You come here for the love of saints, for the love of Awliyaullah. There is nothing else driving you to this place other than the love you have in your hearts. Nobody is paying you anything. Nobody is promising you anything. Nobody is offering you anything. You’re just coming here for that love that you harbor in your heart. I also come here because of that love in my heart. May Allah (swt) make that love increase. From muhabbatu ‘l-Awliya you reach muhabbatu ‘r-Rasool (s).
Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) said you find Rasoolullah (s) in the hearts of Awliyaullah. When you go to Awliyaullah or you have their love in your heart, that love will make you reach the Love Ocean of Rasoolullah (s) because they are just a reflection of him. Where do you find Allah (swt)? You find Him in the heart of Rasoolullah (s). That is why they say “the way is from heart to heart.”
If you enter the heart of Waliyullah, through that heart you will find your way to the heart of Rasoolullah (s). If you enter the heart of Rasoolullah (s), you will find the way to Allah (swt). That is the true way. May Allah (swt) allow us to go through that way.
Don’t lose hope. Don’t despair. Allah (swt) will grant you what you want. The smart one, the one who has a sound mind, should not cut off his hopes. Even if you have as many sins as the foam of the sea. You know when the waves crash on the beach, you have that white foam on top and it is so much. Don’t cut off hope of Allah (swt) of reaching the heart of saints, Awliyaullah, of reaching the heart of Rasoolullah (s) to reach the Divine Presence. We are on camera so we can’t say too much but I heard it from Mawlana so many times.
قَلْبُ الْمُؤْمِنِ بَيْتُ الرَّبِّ
Qalbu ‘l-mu’min `Arshu ‘r-Rabb.
“Heart of the mu’min is the Throne of the Lord.”
Have you ever heard that from Mawlana? There is another version also.
قَلْبُ الْمُؤْمِنِ بَيْتُ الله
Qalbu ‘l-mu’min Baytu ‘Llah.
“The heart of the mu’min is the House of Allah (swt).”
Of course, Salafis, Wahhabis and the others deny these Ahadith but we heard it from our shuyookh but if you want to find Allah (swt), He is on His Throne in the heart of Rasoolullah (s), in the hearts of Awliyaullah. If you can find him, great for you.
Our Way is not to look at what the dunya has to offer, rather to look at how you can get into the heart. From the heart to heart. Don’t cut off your hope, even if your sins are as many as the foam of the sea because Allah (swt) said:
Ana `inda zann `abdee bee
“I am as My servant thinks of Me.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, #596)
Did you hear that from Mawlana too? Think good of Allah (swt). He will make me reach the heart of my shaykh, my master. Through the heart of my master, he will make me reach the heart of Rasoolullah (s). Through the heart of Rasoolullah (s), I will reach the Divine Presence, I will reach `Arsh. So many people will deny this but that’s for them. Alhamdulillah, we have accompanied Awliyaullah. We have accompanied good ones and learned different things from them. May Allah (swt) allow us to reach His Divine Presence.
On the Day of Judgment, seven groups will be under the Shade of the Throne. They cannot deny that Hadith. The fourth group are people who loved each other for Allah (swt). Why do you come here? Because of that love. Did the shaykh offer you anything today? Did he offer you a job? Did he offer you a position? Did he offer you something in return? “If you come here, I will give you this, I will allow you this.” No.
You have come together for the love of Allah (swt). Of course, it is the love of Awliyaullah and the love of Rasoolullah (s). Wa tafaraqa fillah, also separated. We come together because of that love for Awliyaullah in our hearts and Rasoolullah (s) and we also separate as such. That is the fourth group that will be under the Shade of the Throne. That’s what we try to do. Even if you are a big sinner, if you come and don’t cut off your hope from Allah (swt), He will make you enter His Jannah. Don’t lose hope.
Awliyaullah can tell the unknown because everything is written, everything is done. Allah (swt) is not waiting for Yaumu ‘l-Qiyamah to happen for Him to know what’s going to happen there. He already knows what’s going to happen. Rasoolullah (s) is sometimes allowed information about that. Awliyaullah are sometimes given permission to know about Yaumu ‘l-Qiyamah.
Awliyaullah have narrated that on the Day of Judgment when Allah (swt) rules and the people of Jannah are settled in Jannah and the people of Naar are settled in Jahannam, a very sad voice will say, “Yaa Hannan. Yaa Mannan. Yaa Dhal Jalali wa ‘l-Ikram. Yaa Hannan, The Most Compassionate, the Most Tender, the Most Kind. Yaa Mannan, The One Who grants favors without asking. Yaa Dhal Jalal, the Majestic One, wa ‘l-Ikram, the One Who grants generous honors.”
Allah (swt) tells Jibreel (a), “Go get that servant that is in Fire.” Sayyidina Jibreel (a) reaches that servant who is calling, “Yaa Hannan. Yaa Mannan.” If you are in Fire, that’s what you should recite. Allah (swt) will save you from the fire of dunya and the fire of Akhirah. Sayyidina Jibreel (a) finds that one blackened from the fire. His meat has fallen off and his body has melted. That’s how the story goes. He tells him, “Come. Allah (swt) is calling you.”
The servant will say, “Yaa Jibreel. Don’t take me in front of Allah (swt). I will be scared.” What is the sign of an `alim, somebody who knows Allah (swt)?”
Innama yakhsha ’Llaha min `ibaadihi ‘l-`ulama.
And so amongst men and crawling creatures and cattle, are they of various colours. Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants, who have knowledge: for Allah is Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving. (Surah Fatir, 35:28)
Those who are scared of Allah (swt) are the true `ulama. They are fearful of Allah (swt), of His Hayba, of His Adhama, of His Jalal. Which `alim nowadays is afraid of Allah (swt)? They do whatever they want to do without even thinking of the Day of Judgment or if they are going to stand in front of Allah (swt).
The one who was in the fire was an `alim. There will be `ulama in the fire too, so be careful. Don’t follow them to the fire. If you follow them, it’s your mistake. Astaghfirullahi ‘l-`azheem. Yaa Rabbee. We are asking You shelter from `ulamau ‘s-su, the bad `ulama. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) called them `alimun jaahil, an ignorant `alim. How can a scholar be ignorant? He calls himself an `alim but actually he is jaahil.
That one was in the fire but he was a good one. This is a story about Allah (swt)’s Mercy. He says, “Don’t bring me in front of Allah (swt). I will be scared.” He will bring him and Allah (swt) will ask him, “O My servant. Do you remember your sin on such and such day in such and such year?”
“Yes, I remember, yaa Rabbee.”
“Take him back to the Fire.”
They take him back. That servant will look behind his shoulder to the Throne. Who is at the Throne? Of course, Allah (swt) but there is shafa`ah of Rasoolullah (s). That is the hidden part of the story. He looks back at the Throne and Allah (swt) says, “Bring My servant back.” They bring him back and Allah (swt) asks, “What was that look? You looked behind your shoulder.”
“Yaa Rabbee. I committed a sin but I did not cut off my hope from You. You made me enter Jahannam but I did not cut off my hope from You. You brought me from Jahannam back to You. I did not cut off my hope from You. You ordered me back to Jahannam. I did not cut off my hope from You.”
He never cut off his hope from Allah (swt). Al-Hannan. The Most Compassionate. The Most Tender. The Most Kind. Al-Mannan. The One Who grants favors without limit and without asking.
Allah (swt) will then say, “By My Might, by My Majesty, I will be as My servant thinks of Me. O My angels, take him to Paradise.”
Look at the Mercy of Allah (swt). Look at the Love of Allah (swt). Look at the servant of Allah (swt). He never cuts off hope that his Lord is Merciful. Never cut off your hope. Whatever your situation is, whatever your condition is, whatever fire you’re in, whatever poverty you’re in, whatever stress you’re in, always know that you have a Lord who is Hannan, Most Tender, Most Kind, Mannan, that will grant you favors. He is the Ruler. Jalal is the title given to kings. Always turn back to Allah (swt), no matter how dire your situation is.
Alhamdulillah, our situation is beautiful. Don’t say it’s bad. Allah (swt) doesn’t like that. Our teachers have taught us that as long as you are Muslim, you have to say “thank you” for that ni`mah. You have to say “thank you” for the other things as well but the biggest thanks has to be that Allah (swt) has made you a Muslim, has made you a mu’min.
Ifty, if I give you one million dollars to become a Buddhist, will you be a Buddhist? Okay, I’ll give you one billion dollars to drop that, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah. Would you take it? Why not? I’ll ask the English people. I’ll give you one trillion pounds but drop, Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah from your heart and go to Buddha. Would you do it? No! The mu’min will say, “I will never do it.” Why? “Because if Azra’eel takes me, I have lost my iman and my money!” Do you take your money with you when the Angel of Death comes? No, it stays in the bank. Work for the bank. Accumulate your numbers in the bank. Good for you.
Mawlana said that the ni`mah of Islam, the ni`mah of iman, the favor that Allah (swt) has given to us of being a Muslim, of being a mu’min, you will not give that away even if they give you one million, one billion or one trillion or more dollars. You will never say, “I will drop Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah from my heart.” Good for you. Glad tidings for you. Tooba! Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) used to say, “Tooba!” There is a tree in Jannah called Tooba. Its branches reach every corner of eight paradises and its fruit will feed all the inhabitants of the paradises. There is also the tree of Zaqoom in Jahannam. Its branches reach all seven Jahannams and the people of Jahannam only eat from that.
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
Tal`uha ka annahu ru’usu ‘sh-shayateen.
The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils. (Surat as-Saffat, 37:65)
The fruit of it is like the head of a devil. That means the bad characteristics of devils. If you see somebody mingling in jealousy, envy, hatred, killing, murder, harm and all of that devilish stuff, know that he is eating from the tree of Zaqoom, the Tree of Fire. If you see somebody who is offering, who is generous, serving food to everybody, know that he is eating from the tree of Tooba that is in Jannah. He is from ahlu ‘l-Jannah and the other one is from ahlu ‘n-Naar.
Alhamdulillah that Allah (swt) has granted us the ni`mah of iman and Islam. Even if you are in the worst of places, if you call, “Yaa Hannan. Yaa Mannan. Yaa Dhu ‘l-Jalal wa ‘l-Ikram,” Allah (swt) will send His Help to you. He will send His Madad through spiritual beings. They will help you anywhere you are, even if you are in Jahannam. Allah (swt) knows and hears. May Allah (swt) keep us on the way of Awliyaullah.
What should you do every time you go to the beach, Adam? Say, “Yaa Rabbee. I’m asking forgiveness as much as the foam of this beach. Yaa Rabbee. I’m sending salawaat as much as the foam on these waves.” You will get millions in one second. That’s what you should be busy with. Be busy with ta’a.
Why are you obedient to Allah (swt)? Because you want Jannah. That is the first level. Sayyidina Hasan al-Basri (r) said, the one who wants Jannah has to first give his best effort and you become thin. Not like me, keep eating. There was one Waliyullah who didn’t eat too much. They asked him why and he said, because in one bite I can read fifty ayaat of Qur’an. How long do you spend eating, Ifty? [Too long.] Two hours a day? [Maybe more.] The one who is asking for Jannah is doing his best. He is thin. Why? Because he is not wasting his time eating.
Do you like Qamaria? I heard people go there at 9 pm., 10 pm, and 11 pm. Why are you going there? Eating. Alhamdulillah, eat.
Ajtahada wa nahila wa badula wa ‘stamara wa ‘staqama. First, he is giving his best for Allah (swt) and he becomes thin because of cutting down on his desires. He becomes like a flower when it wrinkles because he is not getting sleep. But he continues. He doesn’t give up. He is straight on his path until he meets Allah (swt). He is a mu’min doing his best for Allah (swt). He is getting thinner and thinner because he is worshiping Allah (swt) and not wasting his time eating or drinking. He is getting wrinkled like a flower because he is not resting and he is continuing. He is straight on his path until he meets Allah (swt) because Allah (swt) promised. Asta`eedhbillah. Inaladhina qaloo RabbunAllahu thuma astaqamu.
In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah., and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear you not!" (they suggest), "Nor grieve! but receive the Glad Tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which you were promised! (Surah Fussilat, 41:30)
Those who say, “Allah (swt) is my Lord,” and they are on the straight path. Tattanazalu `alayhimu ‘l-mala’ikatu ala takhafu wa la tahzanu. The angels will come with glad tidings, “You have no fear, no sorrow and no grief. You are from Awliyaullah. You are from ahlu ‘l-Jannah.”
They continue on that path. They give their best. They get thinner. They get wrinkled with age and less sleep and they continue on that straight path until they meet Allah (swt) because they want those glad tidings. Lahumu ‘l-bushra. Allah (swt) has prepared for them the glad tidings. Tooba! Tooba is for you and you will eat from the eight paradises. You can go into all eight of them and more. Allah (swt) knows but we know about eight paradises.
That is the sign of a good servant. Find somebody who is not fat and follow. Astaghfirullahi ‘l-`azheem. I’m working on it. I’m trying to become thin. I am 190 pounds. That’s too much. Sorry, maybe a slap to somebody but nevermind.
It is said that you can see yellowness on the one who worships because of the eating and sleeping less. It’s not the yellowness of sickness but it’s light. You see light.
Have you ever heard about the cow of Musa (a), Ifty? What was the color? [Yellow.] It is yellow but bright yellow. Allah (swt) described that cow. Safra’u faqi’un lawnuha. The color is so light that it makes the onlookers happy. Who are the onlookers when the `abd is worshiping? Awliyaullah. It makes the onlookers so happy with that servant who is yellow but he or she is bright. Find them. Where do you find them? Not at Qamaria.
May Allah (swt) forgive us. Astaghfirullahi ‘l-`azheem. Astaghfirullahi ‘l-`azheem. Astaghfirullahi ‘l-`azheem.
We say, yaa Hannan. Yaa Mannan. Yaa Dha ‘l-Jalali wa ‘l-Ikram. Yaa Rabbee. Save us from the fire of ourselves, from the fire of our ego, the fire of our sins, the darkness of our egos into the Lights of Your Divine Presence, yaa Rabbee. Allow us to enter the hearts of Awliyullah. Tasuru ‘n-nadhireen. When the onlookers are happy with you, you have entered their hearts. Inshaa-Allah, we can enter the hearts of Awliyaullah by obedience to our Lord, obedience to Rasoolullah (s) and doing our best, not wasting our time with other things.
May Allah (swt) forgive us. It is also said that one person went to Waliyullah. He saw his roof leaking. He asked, “Why don’t you fix it?”
“How much life do I have left? I might not have enough life to fix this roof. I don’t care. I might die tomorrow and I am going to be busy fixing the roof, the blinds, the bathroom, the stairs?”
He was not fixing anything in his home. Do you fix your home? Spring is coming. Time to renew the bathrooms. Time to renew the kitchen. Time to renew the porch. Time to paint the house. They do it themselves. They don’t hire anybody. They spend until fall fixing their houses. How about the prayer? “It’s okay. We pray quickly.”
People have taken dunya and left Akhirah. Akhirah is closer to you than dunya. May Allah (swt) forgive us. inshaa-Allah, we can stay on the path. The path is to find the way to the heart of Waliyullah. If you can find that way, you are lucky. Try to find that way. May Allah (swt) forgive us.
I apologize. It’s politically incorrect to say “fat.” I’ll just say, “Weight challenged.” Astaghfirullah. [Fun size] Okay, fun size. Forgive me. Astaghfirullah. I don’t mean to belittle anybody but I want that to be hammered in. Don’t waste your time eating. Eat what you need. After they eat, what do they do? After they have a big meal, they start eating nuts, chips, and desserts. Be busy with ta`at - obedience. May Allah (swt) forgive us and forgive me. I apologize.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
